Stokes turns down a new deal! Stv news
Campsie Tim

Believable16 Unbelievable3

I think that they will sort things out. He has a lot to offer and is also a good player who is a huge addition when he shows up. Needs to be mature now though.

Ontario Bhoy

Agree1 Disagree0

Think he must be holding out for a better deal and will hopefully work it out.

Agree with Ontario, he has a lot to offer and just needs to mature a bit. I do like Stokes ~ Mrs E

Agree1 Disagree0

I think he will stay. you know what Celtic are like. probably tried to low ball him with the first offer. I hope he stays. I like stokes and think he could be a big player for us next season.

Agree1 Disagree0

Think i'm the only 1 whos not really wantin him signing a new contract lol he's never gona be a big european cl game starter and even would struggle makin the bench for a cl game so a don't really see why we should give a new contract and higher wages 2 a player whos only gona play spl games (which he doesn't always start either) and domestic cup games. People might think i'm talkin daft but just ma oppinion i'd rather use the wages for a new striker and let stokes go

Imagine Stokes turning down a 1st offer, another non story that will be resolved, it usually is. Are the zombies not signing another journeyman money grabber and that is why this is such a story?

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do we repeatedly do this from a position of strength Hooper is going now Stokes, Russell a big Celtic man available for £750,000 and we don't move to sign him, I wish I new what is happening at Celtic Park.

Agree0 Disagree0

imo stokes holding out for better deal because he knows hoopers leaving.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he will stay aswell, but that besides the point! We all know for a fact that celtic will be low ballin him trying to save a pound. I don't agree with that, don't pay him over the odds, but the guy is commited to the cause, he's not looking to jump ship at first chance. like a few in the team, a guy like that in the team should be valued and rewarded. What we push the boat out for a striker that clearly wants to leave, and low ball a guy that wants to stay. c'mon celtic I've seen this too many time in the 30- years I've been following you, stop holding back to save a buck, I we want quality we will need to pay for it, simple!

S

Agree0 Disagree0

You can't blame the guy, for wanting the best he can get, he is a expensive substitute, either keep him or sell him, must be sickening for the boy each time we buy a striker,

Agree0 Disagree0

What sort of wages would Stokes be on? I'd say not much more than £10k per week, surely we can offer him a bit more than that. What about all the goals and assists he has given us over the last 3 years?!

Heard Celtic are interested in Ajax defender Niklas Moisander he is 27 can play centre back or left back and is the captain of Finland don't know if there's any truth in this anyone heard anything.

Believable9 Unbelievable15

Suspect we would be looking at him as a (defensive) left back rather than a CB. he is under contract, and so would cost a good few quid. and given that we don't like to spend money - it is probably not going to happen.

Agree0 Disagree1

Absolutely no chance. Moisander is a key player for Ajax. He's definitely not switching to a lesser league. In fact today he said in a Finnish interview that he's interested in a move to Bundesliga or La Liga, if somewhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ajax got him last season, so I doubt they'll let him go. He's a quality defender though and would make a good leader in the defense if the rumour is true.

got an e-mail from a mate in dublin saying he was talking to neil lennon last night, and apparently kevin doyle is a cert. he said that lenny said that doyle is "a far better player than a lot of people think". don't know how believable this is ( my mate tends to talk bullocks now and again ) but I do know lenny is in dublin. and he does like doyle. wouldn't be suprised.

Believable9 Unbelievable20

Hope its bullocks mate cause Kevin Doyle is

Hi ed i'm seein on various sites tht a deal guna b dne 2dy 4 Russell 2 derby 4 950,000 av u heard anythin on this i'm hopin this is not true as I think we will b missin out on fantastic player an would b lyk missin out on Steven fletcher r James McCarthy

Believable9 Unbelievable11

I don't really think he's what Celtic need up front. We're still crying out for a big centre forward. In reality is Russell any better than stokes or watt?

Agree1 Disagree0

Russell is far better than Stokes and Watt, and why do we need a ''big'' striker? We had a fantastic season without such a player and it only makes players play long balls.

Agree0 Disagree2

I don't know how I feel about this transfer I think he is a good player but do we really need him I don't know tbh. Would I take him probably yes but imo Leigh Griffiths is a better player and younger aswell but does have his problems so doubt wewould sign him.

Agree1 Disagree0

Just been on tv transfer news and according to then as off 12 20 today derby deny having had a bid accepted for russell

Agree0 Disagree0

No deal has been struck with derby for Russell

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with Davie C. It should Leigh Griffiths we're going after. JC

Agree0 Disagree0

No deal done with derby and Celtic still in pole position.
What's not to like about Russell? Better player and better attitude than watt. 2 goals against Motherwell and 1 against barca does not make u a world beater. Ask ureself why watt hardly played this season bearing in mind stokes out vast majority and hooper disappearing after Xmas!
Stevo Dundee

Agree0 Disagree0

Russel is not better than stokes. I think he is probably better than watt just now but give watt another year or two and I think he will be better as well. I like Russel but I am not fussed if we don't sign him. i'd like to think Lennon and the background staff know what they are doing and if they thought he would be a benefit i'm sure they would have put an offer in for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do we need a ''big'' striker?
-> We need a big striker to offer us a PlanB. he wouldn't be deployed every game, but in a lot of matches (or coming off the bench) he would offer us something against a packed defence (knockdowns, set piece headers etc). Russell would be a good acquisition AS WELL though - as he can play wide, through the middle, or (i am sure) in the Commons/Maloney role, sitting in behind the main striker.

Agree0 Disagree0

Russell's a class player we need to sign him that lad can only get better with age and would bring another attacking option and the lad is a Celtic fan fact!

Agree0 Disagree0

Why not bring in Russell and give Dundee Utd Watt on loan for a season and get him playing regular first team football? Just a thought.
Kenny

Agree0 Disagree0

Frankly he is not good enough. Another "average" SPL player. He would not take us to the next level, then again I think CFC are happy to rest on their laurels

Seen that Darby are getting closer to Russell's signature any one think Celtic will jump in and get him the lad is waiting to see if Lennon jumps in I really want this lad c'mon Lennon he's going for 750k it's a steal anyone know if we will go for him.

Believable8 Unbelievable7

Russell better than Stokes? I'll have some of what your'e smoking. TTTS

Agree0 Disagree0

I never said he was but he will be he'd score more goals than stokes in that Celtic team.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Celtic don't sign Russell its Fletcher and McCarthy time all over again, why don't we sign these guys yet are continually linked with dumplings like Doyle?

word on the grapevine (my local pub!) is that we are looking at Joel Pohjanpalo from Helsinki. He is a young lad about 18 or 19 and seems to be a good wee striker. He knocked back Liverpool last year as was only getting offered reserve games. What a platform the glouious Celtic Park would be. ShottsBhoy

Believable6 Unbelievable11

He's an overrated player. I've seen him play a few games, and a few mates know him. Apparently his success has gotten to his head.

Agree0 Disagree0

Has he? Cheers m8 I never heard of him so did the youtube thing and he looked decent. Shame he turned big headed, Liam Miller style - look where he ended up! sh*gging sheep by the sounds of the rumours for this season! HH ShottsBhoy

Been linked way this boy before

It seems Derby have made a 3rd bid for Johnny Russell which Dundee United are clsoe to accepting. I think Celtic really have to pull out all the stops to sign this boy. With Hooper certain to leave we need to find cover and Russell would be a fantastic signing. Not too sure about Amido Balde though, Mo Bangura has given em they visions!

Doc

Believable8 Unbelievable8

Balde comes from a completely different background so you can't compare them lol

Agree2 Disagree0

I wasn't comparing their back grounds, just going by the you tube clips I've seen, poor first touch, clumsy, not a great finsher etc.

Dundee united have apparently accepted a bid of £750,000 from derby! really hoping to hear Celtic also bid for him, young Scottish bhoy who would only get better at cp and a bargain at that price imo! Please get this one done Celtic!
