Ki has to stay after his performance in front of the South Korean defence tonight.
We need a destroyer and he is the man.
Kayal is the one who should be sold.

Believable15 Unbelievable18

That's an interesting point of view. IMO Kayal is the one CM player I want to keep at all costs. Tenacious, good in the ball and a decent passer. Ki is a bit hit and miss but I like him too. Spoilt for choice in the middle.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ki dosent get time on the ball in spl. expect him to shine in epl.......... bhoywonder.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would rather keep ki ahead of every midfielder we have, very underrated player imo, kayal is a great player but has missed huge parts of the past 2 seasons through injury so if we could get good money in id let him go first.

Agree0 Disagree0

We need to keep kayal. as said above ki doesnt get time to play in spl. well done to him and south korea tonight tho, thought he was great and was nice for him to be the man to make history and knock team gb out :)
will be sad to see him go but at same time will be interested to see him grow and become even better.

Good luck big man and hope you get gold

Agree0 Disagree0

Lawell should just slap a 10 mill quid min fee, if you want any of our top players, time to stop selling to english clubs for peanuts

Agree0 Disagree0

No chance kayal is our best midfielder. ki is a good player but he is not suited for the spl.

BarryBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

So (original poster) you think, based on the first game of the season, that Kayal should be sold?

Agree0 Disagree0

If we get in CL then ki will come into his own and be a vital player for us. Just look at games like udinase home, he played like last night. We need the ki!! Mon the ki

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes great idea he had a few good games in a u21 friendly tournament thats not really taken seriously ignore the last few years of very hit and miss performances in celtic shirt.

Congradulations to ki sung yueng and his south korean team mates. Great penalty to put GB out. Semi final to come

Believable17 Unbelievable2

Yes well done to ki sung yueng hope he win's a gold medal. As an aside ed wonder if you have any info on this,was at game today and a guy beside me said he could not gain entry to cp with his st, when he went to the ticket office, he was told that the bar code was obliterated, he was then told he should be charged £15 for a new card ( he wasn't charged ). I think if you are to be charged because the bar code has been obliterated because of usage is a disgrace, After all st card is for 5 yrs and should be fit for purpose

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't you mean Team England.

Agree1 Disagree0

Personally i would rather he they lost and he got back it squad for euro game as cover for brown

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are you so happy team gb are out. Is Scotland no longer part of Great Britain. How can it be team England . Are Ramsey, Giggs and Belamy not welsh
Paul Belfast {Ed007's Note - No CFC players were in Team GB, what's wrong with wanting to see one of your club's players doing well in an international tournament?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are you so happy team gb are out. Is Scotland no longer part of Great Britain. How can it be team England . Are Ramsey, Giggs and Belamy not welsh
Paul Belfast {Ed007's Note - No CFC players were in Team GB, what's wrong with wanting to see one of your club's players doing well in an international tournament?}

Because you should be supporting your home nation first and foremost, if you have any kind of patriotism whatsoever?! But I'm guessing not!? {Ed007's Note -Nah, international football bores me to death, as long as CFC players do well I'm happy. Who did you cheer on or want to win the Euros? And why would you support team GB Paul? NI is not part of Great Britain. Great Britain and Northern Ireland are part of the UK, not Britain, great or otherwise. So you are actually showing patriotism to a state you don't live in, that's even worse that Scottish folk not cheering them.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you will find Ed007 that the Great Britain team represented at the Olympics is actually Great Britain and Northern Ireland (as your British passport states!) just happens to be shortened to GB by all reporting! So therefore, will and does include all 4 nations of the British isles - Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland! Maybe you shouldn't be so ignorant and think before you speak? {Ed007's Note - Why is it called team GB then? All I am saying is the name is misleading, Northern Ireland is not part of Great Britain, as you say yourself, the title is Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The team should be called Team UK. Maybe you should know what you are talking about being speaking, NI is not a part of GB, that is basic high school geography, give your head a wobble mate.}

Ed any idea on the fee for Ki? And do you know who we could sign with the cash? Also wondering if you know if the interest in Henricksen has gotten any more serious.

kev88 {Ed007's Note - The fee for Ki is being reported as £7 million Kev. The latest on Henriksen is Rosenborg rejected a bid from Brugge during the week. The fee they want is 3.5 million Euros. A few clubs, including CFC, are prepared to pay that.}

Believable4 Unbelievable1

ED007, well done to Ki tonight, he has had a great Olympics and has done himself and Celtic proud.
Is the transfer set in stone ED007? We could use him playing like that in our midfield. I hope £7m plus add ons if we sell. But one negative thing, they play Brazil next, who have some players who are guilty of some nasty challenges Ki will need to watch himself. Timalloy {Ed007's Note - Nothing has been signed with QPR Tim. It was through someone connected to Sunderland I found out that he was due his medical at QPR after the Olympics, why Sunderland would know that I can would assume they are also interested. It will probably be too late for them to hijack the deal.}

In my opinion we need to keep ki at all costs, id sell kayal brown or ledley before ki he has exactly what we were missing today and in the past pre season games, an eye for a through ball I know its just the start of the season etc but still think this is an obvious thing to do

MurrayBhoy HH

Believable9 Unbelievable18

Ki isn't the answer. If you check the win percentage when he is in the side it isn't great. He started nearly all the games before our unbeaten run last season and only started 2 during it (Dunfermline home and away). When he came back into the side we started losing games again. Not blaming him fully but shows the difference a decent centre midfield pairing makes.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd sell Ki and try get in a striker and a defender with the money, if vic leaves then we need to replace him but I think we have enough if Ki leaves.

Agree0 Disagree0

I understand, its just the bit of creativity weve been missing in my opinion maybe better when commons etc hit form and stokes and hooper realise were eech other are on the pitch it will become better

Agree0 Disagree0

Get rid of scott brown a limited player compared to the others and congrats to ki for putting england ....oops sorry gb out tonight

Agree1 Disagree0

Can't believe you would sell kayal IMO he's just short of match fitness showed some real quality in the first half ki is inconsistent and we cant afford that at least when we had nakamura we were gaurs teed goals

Brian

Agree0 Disagree0

David murrays boy? What a clown.

Hoopey67

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed hoopey67...think a lot of tinfoil has gone missing with some of these CRACKin posts :P

Agree0 Disagree0

Forgot to put my name in ^ jordybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Everybodys entitled to their opinion no need to come back with idiot comments

Agree0 Disagree0

A wee bit unfair on the OP. This is their opinion. To be fair not too sure how good Kayal is, mostly injured or rolling all over the park. Is Ki a better player, IMO yes. How many goals has Kayal scored again? As for our mid, brown limited but willing to go in where it hurts. Ledley does not get the praise he should. All feedback welcome from 'hoopey67' and 'jordybhoy'.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ki is quality - and is adored here in Seoul - where the number of celtic jerseys exceeds even the more obvious ones. The boy can play the game - why sell? I think he aand Kayal in the center of the park would be hugely enabling. First touch, change of direction - just the sort of thing to shake out the lethargy we seem to be undergoing.

Incidentally, if Korea take gold, all the players get out of military service! That's some incentive!

b

Agree0 Disagree0

Ki doesnt do enough to b a first team regular ,,kayal works hard for 90mins,,,sell ki and buy henriksen he is younger and better than ki,,,,as for the brown comment ,,,he scores goals ,,gets stuck in wen no1 else will,,,and shows the spirit every celt should

bodiebhoy88

Agree0 Disagree0

Some one said why sell? Come on we are a selling club there is no doubt that is what we want to become like Ajax and Porto! With the sale of these young players our club could eventually be strong enough to get through the cl group stages and maybe a wee bit beyond

Brian

Agree1 Disagree0

Mine is the second post RE the win pecentage when Ki is involved. I would be interested in what everyones best midfield 4 or 5 would be from the players we have now. I personally couldn't pick the 4 best from Commons, Ledley, Ki, Wanyama, Kayal, Brown and Forrest as I believe that they all bring different things to the table but Ki would be tthe last name out of the 7 I mentioned.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kayal ledley and brown are all more suited to celtic...ki will play better in another league where he can get more time on the ball jordybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

The win % is 100% when the CMF pairing is Ledley and Brown. I like Ki and wish him well but anyone who wants to sell Kayal before him seriously needs their head examined!

Agree0 Disagree0

Defence was pretty solid today but if were not banging them away up front there is always the danger of conceeding one ...Up front we have two strikers more than able of scoring in any game ,another option in that position would maybe sharpen the pair of them up a bit also ...thou we are strong in the middle of the park I feel we lack someone who can change the game with a few telling passes ,Paddy has that in his locker but I dont think he is the answer ,not consistant enough ....Ki is another but it seems he,s on the move ....So maybe a wee investment on a CM might be a shrewd move ....TTTS

While i dont want to be too critical after the first league match,that was largely unimpressive.I felt we were ponderous in possession,slow to shut down when we never had the ball and generally sluggish.To be fair,Aberdeen were set up not to lose and with two fast wingers our full backs had to be wary of attacking,but we should have expected that from a Brown team.Lenny is also making some strange decisions.Why are Wilson and Murphy,two players we are trying to move on,on the bench getting played ahead of young players?Surely young Watt would offer more movement than Stokes,who seems to have lost everything,and even hooper who has hardly kicked a ball in two games? Bringing Paddy on as some kind of saviour also has me puzzled.We know the ability to go past players is there,we have all seen it,but i cant remember the last time he skinned anyone.Mathews and Ledley are turning into our go to guys,steady,reliable and always show.Kayal started well but tired,which is understandable as his pre season was interrupted,and we improved when Victor moved up one.The pluses? A victory,a clean sheet and once again commons showing well.But we are not creating chances and thats a worry ahead of a European game............green jhedi

Believable9 Unbelievable1

I think the whole thing with paddy is that nl is giving the fans what they want when they call for him, trying to make them happy. He has talent and can sometimes take the game in last 10 but he is never up to the challenge and needs to go and the fans need to stop forcing nl hand in keeping him cause the money/wages can be used for a better player

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the players you mentioned are being used as pawns by Lenny.I think he's saying to Lawwell,"This is the type of players we will be relying on to do the business this season unless you get me new players".

Jungle Bhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

If NL is pandering to the fan's he should chuck it now.I don't think he is,I think he doe's not see Paddy the way a lot of the fan's see it.Paddy's all right when we are 3 or 4 goal's up. Sorry he ain't celtic class.
Tambhoy (original )

Agree0 Disagree0

Tho I agree with Jhedi when you have to resort to playing a LB and CM in the middle of your defence I think it is prudent to keep an actual CB on the bench. To be fair Wilson done OK when he came on. I thought the whole team were sluggish today and only Mathews, Joe and Commons got pass marks. As for Paddy already stated on this site although talented he needs another challenge away from Celtic. Murphy at least showed some go, unlike Stokes. Hbhoy. {Ed007's Note - I would say Mulgrew's position in the team/squad is more a CB who can cover at LB now.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the murphy and wilson thing....why are these guys even near the bench when lenny knows they dont figure in his first team plans? murphy for some reason has already played in 4 games this season...wtf??
same with mccourt, yes he has fantastic ability, but like you, i cant remember the last time he did something to warrant the adulation he receives. even forrest seems to have started believing in his own hype, i couldnt tell you the last time i saw him play to a standard that justified a first team start.
the team seems to be top heavy with under-performers and nearly-there's, and this season should be the perfect opportunity for us to bring on guys like watt, george, twardzik etc.

taco

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree wae green jhedi about stokes the guy looks a mile off wot he was and looks totally uninterested most of the time ano hes 20+ goals a season but theyr against pish teams no just him tho hooper in the past few games looks 2 me like a player who doesnt want 2 be here id rather see watt upfront runnin out his skin for the shirt other than guys who dont gee 2 fk's and the whole paddy thing aswel a agree the guy has nower near the amount of ability people think he has 3 or 4 times he tried 2 skin guys against aberdeen got the ball took off him then just stood ther bemused he constantly looks unfit anol izzy aswel he looks a shadow of the player he was his 1st season seriously worried about our lack of attacking for wed

gunniebhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair comment ED007, Charlie has made CB his position but can be erratic. Still think we need at least one dominating CB like Bobo. Plus a big bad John up front. Hbhoy {Ed007's Note - A dominating CB would only help Mulgrew and Rogne get better, someone with the authority and presence to organise the defence on the park.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Yesterday was pretty poor but 3 points and off to a winning start. Biggest disappointment was seeing Daryl Murphy coming on, why he is still wearing a Celtic jersey is beyond belief! Kelvin Wilson is also not good enough and needs to go. Paddy McCourt is not good enough and should also be sent packing. Need a big stature centre half in they style of Bobo Balde.

Agree0 Disagree0

Such a sensible and intelligent post for a change. Ponderous is precisely the word: slow moving

Anyone know what has happened to Tony Watt? He was the next big thing, and now Murphy is getting a start in front of him. Talk of him going on loan.

DazzaBhoy

Believable9 Unbelievable4

He was in the main stand today with what looked like lewis toshney. he will probably get a chance soon with the recent form of hooper and stokes

Agree0 Disagree0

Murphy getting game time so other teams see him, Celtic been trying to get rid of him since 10 minutes after he signed.

watched the match there and couldnt help but notice how bad anthony stokes has got. is it just me or is he actually declining as a player. he was very poor when he came on against helsinki and was shocking today. IMO it was a huge mistake rejecting 3m for him in january. hes not good enough and if anything hes no better than bangura at the minute.

celticthomas

Believable14 Unbelievable12

Who offered 3 mill for stokes ffs stop reading the beano...stokes always has been and always will be average.jimthetim.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont think he looks interested at times tbh,id go for johnny russell

Agree0 Disagree0

Its game 1 of the season stop freeking panicking.

daviebhoy08

Agree1 Disagree0

Why get rid of a twenty a season forward?. yeah hes lazy at times ,moans when things dont go his way. but so does forrest and everyone raves bout him. keep stokes ,get another cf for competition for places.......bhoywonder

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you're right I've always had doubts about Stokes despite his scoring record. His decision making is awful, he's too greedy and a poor first touch. The striking situation is a worry but I'm sure Neil will be trying to sort it out.

As an aside I wish some fans would get off of the back of Samaras and Commons. Not only is it embarrassing but they are the only 2 in the team who look to make something happen, it might not always come off but they never hide. On a similar note can anyone explain the hero status McCourt gets? The guy just does not contribute, isn't fit enough despite all the training and wants 30 touches on the ball just to go back to where he started. If its simply because he's Irish then that's pathetic.
CBP

Agree1 Disagree0

No one is panicking they are stating a simple fact...stokes is gash...end of

Agree0 Disagree0

Got to agree with the above posts...I can't believe how many times he gets caught offside for a CF. I hate to slate our own players but his 1st and 2nd touch are shocking...anyway hail hail

Morgybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Naebodys panickin daviebhoy,but come on WE HAVE TO GO TO THE NEXT LEVEL.Everybodys talkin cd/cf.i agree but if we got them i am convinced,we will then want a lubo,dicanio,bertie murdoch.We really need a class act in centre mid.agree or disagree ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

Mccourt has ability,simple as that.
passing is excellent,if you seen him when he came on today he clearly made a positive impact.

Came on and we got forward more which is what we want to see after all

Jamie Mac(don't sell McCourt)

Agree0 Disagree0

Ffs one game gone get a grip out of 2 preseason games he scored 1 give the team a chance to get started

Paulbhoy010

Agree0 Disagree0

Stokes Scored 24 goals last season ....Today was the first league game of the season !!...The same could have been said about Hooper today ?.....Both will score goals for Celtic ,unless Hooper gets his requested move down south ....TTTS

Agree0 Disagree0

A russian club offered 3m for him did they not

Agree0 Disagree0

Cbp ,,get off samaras and commons its embarrasing and unfair but then slate mcourt after slating stokes ,,people are allowed to criticise who they dislike or is only for players you dont like ,,, deep river bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Mc Court positive Impact, the only positive impact was big Vic movin into the middle. Once again today showed that we need Scott Brown in our midfield, no urgency without him.
Tambhoy ( original )

Agree1 Disagree0

Jamie mac thought i would give you benefit of the doubt about Mc Court, watched a rerun of the game tonight and i'v got to say what game were you watchin,he played the ball back more time's than forward, any time he went forward he got the ball took off him. Sorry he ain't good enough. Might have good song's about him,that don't score goal's mate.
Tambhoy ( original )

Agree0 Disagree0

Deep river bhoy, the point I was making about Sami and Commons were about fans vocally getting at them during the games. I hate to hear our fans booing and shouting abuse at our own players, it doesn't help. I don't think stokes is good enough and can't understand the McCourt thing but I never have or would abuse them during a game I'm only discussing them on here. Wednesday night was a good example, Sami started very positively but after a few misplaced passes in the2nd half he was getting dogs abuse and his confidence and contribution completely dipped.

Despite what I think about McCourt's impact I love the way we support him, I just wish it was the same for all the players.
CBP

Agree0 Disagree0

Cbp,, players like cha loovens big dan and many others got abuse at every game stokes and hooper until they score get their fair share of it and brown gets more than samaras and commons combined both at the park and online ,but your post looked to me as you where just defending your favourites, i agree with supporting everybobdy the same but do you think for a minute if samaras was dropped and paddy got a long run and played s**te he would get the reverence he gets now, if that happens we can then discuss the same subject in reverse,,,,deep river bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with a few replies here, Stokes is selfish even when there are two other options he will volley against a brick wall.
Granted he has scored some great goals but himself and Hooper too lazy for the team, regardless of your position.
Also agreed lay of Samaras he has done and will still do a lot for us eg chasing back to defense and creating.

good morning troops. looking forward to the match today, be interesting to see if wanyama plays with the arsenal bid looming. looking for some help here ed do you know how much bentner is on a week? could be the big cf were looking for, think he would do well for us. maybe include bentner in the deal if his wages arent too high.......bhoywonder {Ed007's Note - Nicklas Bendtner is on £50K a week at Arsenal.}

Just saw Sir walter of cardigans latest piece of nonsense.In an article from Hugh Keevins,it seems to be the usual rantings of a man who is rapidly becoming a joke figure in Scottish football. He seems to be repeating the tired old "prove it" line.You are missing the point walter,thats all we have ever asked for,a chance to prove it.But once again the main criticism,for me,must lie squarely on the,no doubt rounded,shoulders of Keevins.Why,during this latest puff piece for the rangers,did he not ask walter if he had accepted payments through an EBT? It would seem to me that a cub reporter might think that was a relevant question.Couple this with billy dodds choking,stuttering BBC interview,which he admitted lying live on air over his EBT,and it seems a lot of people are starting to sweat.Could the fear be that HMRC might be asking for them to repay their loans? Finally.was out with a mate last night,big bluenose,who told me he had heard that the relationship between ally and Green is strained at best. Seems ally is rather disappointed that his new contract is pegged at,what Green believes,to be an "A" band salary. This is £7000 per week,ally seems to think he is worth more.His two assistants cuts are supposed to be even more dramatic and this is causing problems from the man who does not walk away.It would seem the problems are not over. However,HAPPY FLAG DAY! Lets enjoy the day,and kudos to the dons for filling their full allocation............green jhedi

Ed - it is looking likely that we will be loosing victor wanyama, to be honest I'm not surprised, the guy is a class act. Do you think Lennon will still allow ki to leave? To be honest I hope he does as I do not see what he brings to our midfield. What's your thoughts on that? Ian L {Ed007's Note - I think Ki will leave no matter what, expect news of it when SK are knocked out of Olympics, he has only his medical to complete at QPR but as I said yesterday that was someone connected to Sunderland that said it, why they would know I have no idea unless they are also interested.}

Believable2 Unbelievable3

So we could have 14m in the bank in a few weeks after we sell Ki & Wanyama, how much of that will NL get to spend on the team do we think? Suppose it depends if we get into the group stages.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree , I can't see what ki gives us. Big Wanyama is class and will be a big loss, but if we lose both I think we can get by with what we have for the spl

Agree0 Disagree0

Rumours in the north east were that Sunderland were interested. Has Ki copleted personal terms with QPR yet?

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, thought wanyama was a class act the 1st time I saw him playing, midfield or as centre half, but I would sell if we got good enough offer (£8m +) , and I felt we should have sold Hooper if £6m + offer came in. jj
