Apparently we have had 900k bid for Nadir Ciftci knocked back by Dundee Utd. I don't know if this is the sort of player we need. There is no doubt he can score goals but his temperament and the baggage he brings does not sit well with me.

I'm not sure either mate.

The players i'd like us to go for and who we do go for are two different things these days. Granted we've found some rough diamonds.

That said and only commenting on the player in our sights, I quite rate him. He's the striker in Scotland i'd prefer the most. If that counts for anything. He's the perfect 'type' to play that lone striker. Can run and shield the ball and really work a defense by himself. Got that bit muscle and poacher instinct in the box too. Plus I think the three behind him would really benefit from his game play.

Costing us by doing something stupid is a big worry, and whether he can make the step up to CL level remains to be seen. So those two factors just put a bit doubt in my mind.

There is no doubt Ciftci can play a bit , but his temperament and attitude are not what I want to see in a Celtic player , he would do well enough in domestic football , but I'm not so sure at European level , I'd much prefer us to persue the bid for Jelle Vossen , we are fast becoming Dundee Utd lol .

No what big Pete meant was the cheap option and if he makes us better that's a bonus. I just wish we would go and sign a proven striker.

Would not like this boys from Dundee utd but mabye it's better the devil you know considering the shocking strikers we have bought in over the last few seasons, is there not a young striker in the development squad wee could bleed through behind griffiths

Guys give the guy a break, we have had the likes of Pukki/Balde etc and all the talk when we signed them was they look good. If Cifti was coming from Europe we would all be on youtube saying this guy got something about him. because he from Utd its this guy not good enough. Well LG has stepped up and so could Cifti. I also think Scepovic could step up this season also if given the chance.There has been many many old frim players down the years who struggled their 1st year.

Anyone else getting a sense of deja vu,the way some people are talking about Cifci is very similar to the way they were talking about Griffiths last year.

Hi Rayman, A usually agree with you more often than not but not this time Bud!

Cifti is up in three weeks for this biting charge and although a don't have a crystal ball he is going to get a 5 or a 6 game ban IMO A mean BITING FFS! a don't know about you but as was repulsed at the Suarez incident and we don't need the grief!

So disappointed in this even approach in so many fronts if am honest must have a better option than him surely even WITH how poor our record up front is :-(

@Jamie I not saying he anything special but we tend to go on about players because they from Europe. I know he Turkish but he getting it because he playing here. Mate the biting thing I have never seen simply because I had no interest in it. But surely he innocent to proven otherwise. Incidently I would take Suarez in a minute lol.
