{Ed007's Note - So far the only team to have shown any concrete interest is Southampton but they were told nothing will happen either way until our European qualification is sorted out. Everton would become involved if Stones leaves them for Chelsea. There are murmurings of Newcastle interest since McLaren took over there as he was managing FC Twente in 2012/13, the season VVD caught our scouts eye.
Price wise I would have thought anything north of £8 million but the board have previously said it'll take a minimum of £10 million to have any chance of landing the Dutchman.}

I don't know if they will launch a bid now as they have managed to get Steven Caulker on loan for the season

{Ed007's Note - Kramer was watched at the weekend so there's certainly an interest from us and the ball is still in Marcel Halstenberg's court as CFC try to persuade him to leave Germany early. St Pauli accepted our bid last month but are in no hurry to lose the player and the player himself wants to do the right thing for his present club, he's showing them a bit of loyalty and the club are happy to leave the decision in the player's hands.
I wouldn't be too surprised to see a stop gap LB brought in if Halstenberg decides to stay in Germany as RD will want him on a pre-contract at least come January.}

This transfer would leave an 8M whole in our defence at a vital period in our development, whether its pre- or post- CL, and whether we make it or no. Surely selling VVD is tantamount to throwing in the towel this season?

If we qualify the 2nd leg of the play off round will be on 25th or 26th of August . I think the final day for signing is September 1st .
