My brother who lives In Glasgow was saying that he heard in work that we are trying to push through a move for Johney Russell or if we can't pursuade Derby to sell them were going to make a bid for John Walters. This is what I've heard I'm a first time poster here

Lee Griff deal done?

Believable9 Unbelievable8

Yip £800k rising to £1m with add ons my cousins boyfriend is a porter on rosshall and said somebody from Celtic medical team has requested 2 medicals tomorrow after 2pm no players names where mentioned though but hearing it is Taylor-Sinclair and griffiths possible deal for lee tomlin for £1.3m depending on Ledley or Sammy moving on.

Agree0 Disagree1

Do celtic not do there medicals at lennoxtown now ed?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - No mate it's still Ross Hall. Fitness tests etc will be done at Lennoxtown but there will be medical tests done at Ross Hall.}

I know griffiths has scored goals but why don't we just give pukki, balde and frimjonson a chance. They must b thinking why they've came here

Agree2 Disagree0

We are a cash rich club no deal is dependant on players moving on! We have plenty cash in the bank after 2 seasons of Champions league and the sales of wanyama and hooper!

Agree0 Disagree1

To the poster saying we are a cash rich club and that we don't need to sell before we buy, that's just none sense, of course we need to sell before we buy, all clubs do. Regardless of how much money we have in the bank there is a wage budget that the club must operate within. We ready have too many strikers that half of them get little or no playing time, which makes it difficult to justify further additions and what value they would add. Celtic are a cash rich club (right now) because they have made well on a couple if players, had a decent run in the CL and and been operating prudently over the last 10 years.

Ed anything in the Ledley to Palace? If him and Sammy go that 50k of wages freed up and hopefully a bit of quality in. Here's hoping anyway.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

{Ed007's Note - I don't think Ledley's Mrs would be keen on moving to London and it's her homesickness that is the main problem with him signing an extension with us.}

30 Jan 2014 22:21:25
Edd do u not think she could be persuaded to London wae all the shoe shopping she could do

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I think they sell shoes in Wales MB. I reckon he would ideally be looking to move back to Cardiff or a team in England that would allow a commute.}

U made me laugh there ed! Monkey BHOY u just got done a belter mate!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed,

£1m accepted by Celtic is rumour going around just now any ideas?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The fee was agreed earlier today so it is up to the player, and it's under £1m.}

samaras and ledley will not be leaving celtic until the summer, both have no intention of renewing contracts and will leave for nothing. samaras more than likely to go to MLS and ledley to aston villa or stoke.

Believable2 Unbelievable13

Why on earth would anyone want to go play in the MLS when there's an option to play in La Liga for Athletico? Certainly not football or money reasons! Don't know why we couldn't get sammi moved out on loan even, saving wages & freeing up a place in the team for someone who wants to play for the club. It's beyond me how the situation has been allowed to get to this stage. Madness!

Agree0 Disagree0

Athletico don't want samaras or he would be there already

John

Agree1 Disagree0

@roryblair I agree with u mate, makes sense moving samaras out on loan and even ledley if he doesn't want to re-sign. The amount saved on wages each week could be used to sign player in summer

Id prefer Britt Eckland and before anyone has a go about my age. The oldest fiddle plays the sweetest toons! Sopotcelt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Serious question can celtic attract a good premiership player?

John

Agree0 Disagree0

More fiddles I am afraid but a serious answer as requested. Nero Lucius fiddled whilst Rome burned.
NL is fiddling about with his "brand" whilst his burning ego destroys the future of many young players. Not a chance of a decent premiership player singeing. I mean signing.Sopotcelt.

I voted support the board and management but have been a bit disappointed by not getting the marquee signing but no reason to not support when our club is so well run and playing some cracking football into the bargain

1rst and foremost board doing the job they are there for brilliantly mite not be to everybody's liking but it's true.
Celtic aren't in as bad a position as people would lead us to believe everything isn't amazing but far from bad.
If people are so upset and disgusted about everything celtic then don't go it's meant to be for fun,

Agree0 Disagree0

I voted against board and management!
Ok here's the hard part. Trying to make sense of my vote.
For me PL ( and SOME of his henchmen) have done wonders for the club, a couple I'm glad to see the back of, a few bad calls lately but all in all most of his work has benefited the club and put us on a safe grounding! But what really riles me is his/their decisions by so blatantly not supporting in this instance NL in the transfer windows, if it's not NL it'll be the nxt yes man, a manager who isn't allowed as strong opinion or be adamant as how things are to run!
So much money earned and scared to use a decent amount on a proper striker and a quality mid who COULD still move after 3/4 seasons for at least the same money, unreal!
As for NL. He won't be there much longer so I'm not going waste anymore time writing my long winded explanation :) Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

The current board relies on the blind following of the celtic support. it is the seemingly acceptance of mediocre signings which infuriates some supporters, myself included. whilst the club is on top, we should be moving steadily forwards to consolidate our position and secure 10 in a row and beyond. I would rather see 1 quality player rather than 4 duds come in per season. of course other factors like players wanting to leave and ridiculous offers for some stars aside. I wonder how many supporters would like to hand back the 4 million in reduced season tickets prices this year to secure a 5-6 million pound striker ala finnbogason or be happy with griffiths, balde, bangura etc?

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2014 21:41:51
What is there to consolidate just now? Dnt sign any1 for the next couple of seasons am sure well still win.
Way a see it if we get a solid squad just now win the league and prob at least 1 cup also compete in CL were doing not to bad. And we did compete 4 out 6 games in CL £6m players in CL is pish anyway. When the rangers appear we can then blow them out the water and pull away at the rite moment by spending bigger with money that is still there.
Prob not the best way to explain what a mean lol sorry hope use get the just of it

Celtic planning a double raid of Norwich, Snodgrass and Hoolahan.

Believable10 Unbelievable25

Nonsense, they won't be going for Tomlin either - Snodgrass/Hoolihan/Tomlin, if you gave every one the choice I'm sure they would choose to play the free role(no 10) Snodgrass or Hoolihan maybe, I wouldn't touch Tomlin-he has ability, but not the right application. We need guys who are prepared to dedicate themselves, - like the young German players coming through (Kroos/Schwensteiger/Ozil/Kroos/Gundogan/Draxler) these guys are all worth 30-40 million, why can Celtic not produce young players like that, the coaching and dedication is cringe worthy that's why. Even waiting until the last day of the window, where is the foresight, we should have had a top striker lined up for Hooper leaving. The latest belter I heard was that they are not bothering with buying another defender at present because the defense is doing well-this is the exact time to buy someone, there will be less pressure on them, and you obviously need quality cover anyway-well if you act like a big club you do. Paul

Agree0 Disagree2

To the above post your plain and simple an idiot! Our youth academy is one of the best in the world along with our youth teams! Calvin miller has been chosen as the best player in the world for his age group, an award Newmarket previously won! We will never sell players for 40m because of our league! And our coaching set up is excellent developing talents like wanyama from potential to excellence! Grass roots in Scotland has been behind most of the other country's and we are slowly but surely catching up considering we are about 10 years behind the major players!

Agree1 Disagree0

Spot on sos bhoy, saved me a lot of typing . Clueless or a zombie . Fab1

Agree0 Disagree0

Schweinstieger, young?

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanyama was a product of beerschcot ac academy mate

Agree0 Disagree0

An idiot, clueless or a zombie-because you are looking for a better standard, or looking for the club to be the best they can. Both of you obviously don't have a clue, Calvin Miller has just turned 16, I like Liam henderson, but apart from that we are bringing through too many average players. Our youth academy is far from one of the best in the world, sure we win all the youth trophies, but it shows how draconian(with the exception of D utd/maybe Hibs/Aberdeen) some of the youth academies are. I've been going to Celtic games for over 30 years so if you are going to come on slating people say something interesting, or at least factual! If The German teams can do it, if your Porto's/Ajax's/PSV's etc etc can do it, why can we not do it-it has nothing to do with the league, it's to do with ability, and that usually comes with structure/coaching/dedication. Sort it out the pair of you! Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair point about Schweinstieger, I was thinking he was a bit younger, the point I was making was that the German teams are bringing players through their academy that are on a whole different level from we seem to be able to do, and it's not just Bayern/Dortmund, Ozil came through the Bremen academy, Draxler-Schalke. And Germany was just an example, look at what Belgium are producing, as a lad has just mentioned Wanyama came through an Academy in Belgium. Ajax have sold 3 world class players in the last couple of years-Eriksson/anderweirald/vertonghen, if they can do it, and they have been doing it for 30 years, why can Celtic not do it. If your sos bhoy and other guy can't understand this then it's their problem. Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

The facts are simple- unbeaten in the league, 10 consecutive clean sheets, last 16 and the CL, the. Qualify for Cl again! We bought 2 strikers to replace hooper and both are starting to settle in nicely!yes we all wanted a marquee CF but maybe the bhoys we've got will work!Maybe we need a CB but we have 2 good youth product who can step in if needed! German life and family philosophy is a lot different to ours! Much more efficiently minded and disciplined! With the culture differences in our country's their children are more focused in that environment! Their facility's are a lot better than ours at grass roots levels

SOS BHOY

Agree0 Disagree0

That old chestnut about the Germans, well sos bhoy/fabi, what about the Spanish the French, the Belgian players, why is it they bring through players at 20/30/40 million and we bring through guys that are lost to the game at 25 years old. If you are going to talk nonsense about different foreign attitudes/mentalities, why can Celtic not bring through a Paul Scholes/Ryan Giggs/Ross Barclay - a real top top player, we managed it 30-50 years ago with your Jinky's/Murdoch's/McGrains/Dalgleish etc. If you're happy getting humbled 6-1 by Barca, or generally struggling big time in the group stages, when we have money to spend on players then that's your call, one thing is for sure, Peter Lawwell will love you guys. I am always looking for more because the potential is there. Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

I already told u why they're all ahead of us FFs! These countries done complete overhaul of there games long before we did!
We appointed mark watte as the performance director not that long ago so at least the sfa have put the building blocks in place and yes more could be done! But they've had a massive head start compared to our country!

Agree0 Disagree0

You don't have a clue what you're talking about, what's Mark Wotte got to do with Celtic? What has what Scotland do got anything to do with what Celtic do? You said Celtic have one of the best youth depts/teams in the world, then you go and contradict yourself and say we are behind everyone else because we started later than them. Southampton have a better youth setup than us, they have brought through Bale/Oxlade Chamberlain/Lallana, and the lad Chelsea and M utd are offering 25 million for(Luke Shaw) so as I said if you are going to come on and shout your mouth off get it right! Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

@paul I understand what you are saying, but also SOS bhoy! Yes we should be bringing through the best Scottish players and be able to command a good profit! But players heads get turned! The Celtic coaching system is only as good as the money the will accept for our young talent before they are the finished article! Agree with SOS on the grounds that the Dutch and French have conveyor belts of young talent and have done so for many years while Celtic have tried to match the Murray bank roll across town!now there is no money in Scottish football, it's a must to bring through youth! Celtic are moving in the rite direction, but the minute scouts latch on to promising talent, agents move in and move them on to huge clubs where they fall by the wayside after a season or 2 . The young bhoy Chelsea hand picked for us? Liam miller, half a season then Man U turned his head with huge wages that they don't miss and we cannot match! Where is he now? So in a Sense both of you have valid points.
