Mikey are you only a fan if you go to every game? You don't know the OP's situation. @OP Tuesday night games are on itv/stv/sky and Wednesday games are on sky only. Both Celtic home games are on a Wednesday.

Apologies Mikey I read your post again....sober! Lol And realise what you were saying...sorry

Briggs

I havent said anything about only being a fan if you go to games, I dont get to much games these days myself due to work commitments. The op said he was proud to be a bhoy last nite, I simply asked isnt he proud to be one every nite. I know I am, win lose or draw.

Historic night for celtic with their first european away win in a long time and yet you still cant help talk about rangers?

Superb result tonight and a great advert for Scottish football.

Didn't get away from work and missed the 1st half :-(

Did see the 2nd half and the way we fought to the end...BRILLIANT !!!

A big well done to the players, the board, and the managers and to Lennon who has had to deal with the worst of the worst and show how strong he is and how now been passed to the club. For Lennon keeps making or breaking history which only adds to our great history of the club, he can walk beside the best and legends at the club for he will only continue to grow into a great manager.
But in the game it really could have been 5 goals for us if we didn't have to just beat the other team but the refs as well for hoopers 2nd looked to close to call offside and we should have had 2 penalties which never were called. I mean how our 2 cards were even cards in the first place i will never know as moscow got away with alot, you could see how hard it was for the ref to give a red not to mention the time wasting and no talking to but all that is for not as we won. It shows that there is more in the club to come and this should open ppls eyes to just how good Celtic are and how we are bigger and better then the league we play in. Lennon and the club may have just brought us or won us the respect we deserve from the football world, but still more to come. C-Bhoy

Believable13 Unbelievable2

i hope mr hodgson was watching tonight for hoopers sake - he was outstanding. it would be a disgrace if he is not given a call up, hes miles better than carroll, welbeck, zamora. rooney and darren bent are in a seriously poor run of form. the fact a 17 year old (sterling) is called up ahead of him is ridiculous. Not only does hooper score goals he can create goals as he showed tonight. Anyone who has been slating hooper needs to get a grip aswell...hes the best striker we have had since larsson and we would seriously struggle to replace him.
On the overall performance it wasnt the best but the work rate and effort was terrific. standouts for me were lustig brown and hooper. izzy done much better than i thought aswell and given time i think ambrose and wilson could develop a good partnership.

What a fantastic result in Russia. Credit to Neil Lennon, the back room staff & most importantly the players on that park tonight. I think we will all agree that result was well worth the wait. I feel I need to single out a few performances for my own reasons. Gary Hooper led that line tonight like a season campaigner in Europe, he was outstanding, scored 1 and made 1. And a mom performance. Some of the stick Hooper got on here last week was absolutely shocking. ( you all know who u are) 2nd player I would like to mention - mikel Lustig. I have been critical of the big swede on here, but I thought he was terrific tonight. Was a bit worried when Matthews was ruled out, credit to the big man he didn't put a foot wrong. Last but not least Mr George Samaras - when Neil Lennon gave him a new 3 year deal I couldn't believe it, he said it was his job to get the best out of him....to be honest I thought he was wasting his time....How wrong was I. Excellent display from the big man. And what a way to win it in the last minute. Can't get this smile of my face. Ian L

Neil Lennon has the makings of being a real Celtic legend in the dugout, tactically very good, team plays good football, great signings aswell as balancing the books in the process and now make strides in Europe.
Got a feeling there's a lot more to come from the wee man and this current crop of players!!

I hope people in scotland start giving neil Lennon the credit he is due as a manager. The signings, the nurturing of Forrest into a player who will earn the club a fortune when he goes, 2 matches away from a treble 2 years ago, Champions last season, Champions League qualification this season, Celtics first champions league away win, and his ability to turn average players into good one's Mulgrew, Samaras, and bringing the best form out of Scott Brown since he signed for Celtic. Made him captain and put faith in him which has been the making of him at Celtic.

These are no coincidences and he is proving to be an inspiring man manager.

Take a bow Mr Lennon.

And well done Bhoys, you did us all proud tonight.

Stevensee88

Believable13 Unbelievable5

Martin o'neill taught him well. But I dare say Neil is using his own methods also...well said. Neil Lennon outstanding

Agree2 Disagree0

I have always said that he is the perfect man for the job and how he has changed from being upset as the media made him out to be a monster to a calm yet still the fiery manager when need be. The thing I hate is that media and ppl still won't give him credit and will try and put a negative spin on this great achievement.

Ppl said how he was crazy to think that he could walk beside or out of the shadows of the great managers for Celtic, well I say he has proven that he can and in such a sort period of time. Lennon has put his stamp on this team and shown them what it is like and how important playing for Celtic is and I think the players are on his side and might sign new contracts, for he wants to build a strong club which he has done. Great job to him the players and the board for sticking behind Lennon, he will end up being a true legend if he continues to grow like he has and he deserves all the good and praise for all he has had to deal with. Watched the game on sky great result great controlled performance this team are certainly growing together but Davie Proven get a grip I know you need to be impartial but please call it as it is commons was brought down for a stone wall penalty and you still said the spartak defender won the ball fairly.

Believable9 Unbelievable3

Proven is always the same and I turn the volume down when he's on Celtic games.
Impartial is very kind, as I reckon he is anti-Celtic and grudges any praise - if any.

JJ

Agree1 Disagree0

If hooper was to score an overhead kick from the halfway line proven would say
"thats a very decent goal" when something great happens his words are "very decent" hes a knob,.,.kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

If that's a penalty then Spartak should have had a free-kick in the build up to Celtic's 1st goal. Although he was determined to win the ball and there was no malice in the challenge, the way Wanyama jumped into that challenge would have been penalised by most refs throught Europe. He literally jumped in the air.

fantastic result, but not the greatest performance by the hoops. i'm just glad we got the result we needed cos they were there for the taking tonight.

a lot of good induvidual performances, particularly wilson, izzy, ambrose, hooper and lustig, but i think the state of the pitch, and the fact it was very narrow was a factor in how we sometimes struggled a bit.

overall i'm absolutely delighted for the team, and the bare chested maddies that made it to moscow lol! for me, that's 2 excellent results in europe's finest competition....the buns must be sick that we've restored some pride and integrity back into the scottish game

Superb result, well done Lenny and the lads. I was looking for big sammy to be subbed, but hey.... what do I know! I just hope that's the monkey off the back regarding away results in CL. I also think the ref was about to book Hooper if linesman didn't intervene, how he didn't see it himself I will never know. Whoever was in charge of tv Coverage needs a kick in the balls! How many times was the ball in play and they were showing replays, their dugout or subs warming up.

Credit where credit is due. Well done to Celtic on a great result. They played and deserved the win. Not much between the two teams. I think Spartak are the weak links in the group, they certainly ain't as good as made out to be. If Celtic can get a point against Benfica then they'll have a great chance of reaching the last 16. Broony leading by example.
Their goal came from a great bit of skill so keep the heids up Hoops and feed the Hooper-man.

Good programme on channel 5 every Monday night 7pm. This is Liverpool fc just a fly on the wall documentary which is quite interesting about what goes on in training transfers etc etc worth the watch imo

I don't even know know 5 players at Liverpool but it's a good programme for fans of football not just a football team fan.

Would be good if more football teams done it kind of gives you a insight to what happens in the background not just what happens in the 90min of a game

Ps if anyone follows NL on twitter his interview by the Russia press was brilliant 2 examples.

Does aidan mcgeady deserve a statue out side celtic park for his transfer fee lol? And if you had 100m euros would you help out rangers Lolol

a lot of uncertainty over who will make up the defence tonight. not sure if izzy should be given the chance to start tonight, has been poor all season and a team like spartak could hurt us if he performs the way he did against benfica. also question marks over whether ambrose should get a start. looks a solid player but maybe a bit too early to throw him into a game like this. think the decision where to play mulgrew will be a major factor with regards to us getting anything out the game.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

From what I hear Izzy was a lot better at fir park, lets hope he's turned the corner. Matthews is out which means Lustig at right back, not sure if the big fellow is up to challenge of McGeady? Good point about Mulgrew, think he will be centre half due to the return of Samaras & Ledley think they will both start. Ian L

Agree0 Disagree0

Izzy was murder against Benfica and a repeat performance tonight may well cost us, I'd leave him out and play Mulgrew at LB with Ambrose at CB.
C'mon the Hoops !

Agree0 Disagree0

Could well be izzy with mulgrew infront of him in midfield to possibly double up on mcgeady would also give us a high ball outlet with mulgrew and sammy further up...like we saw against benfica.

No Commons again in the squad, yet Darren Fletcher is. I thought Levein picked on 'form'

Disgrace

Samson

Believable7 Unbelievable1

I personally wouldnt let Levein or Houston into Hampden if they had a ticket. He is a disgrace. kenny Miller is finished and the form player at the moment is Kris Commons, its so feckin obvious that Keith Jackson even said it, now we all know it would have to be nailed on for him to comment. I would love to hear him explain himself on this one...get rid now while we still can.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Oct 2012 12:27:23
Commons is the best player in the SPL at the moment, Levein has no clue, should have been sacked years ago, just hope Scotland get humped in both games, its the only way to get rid of someone with no football knowledge, ffs Berti Vogts had a better record, but i blame the so called fans, they should be demanding Leveins head, from many games ago, but its too late now

Agree0 Disagree0

Levein is a complete idiot! Simple as that!

Agree0 Disagree0

Iv ranted on this subject on this subject before aswel mate the guys a complete moron now hes picked steven fletcher purely out of pressure from fans and media he said he wouldnt be picked again unless fletcher made the move. Levein is a cardboard cut out manager hes a nobody thats done nothin in management

gunniebhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Scotlands loss is CELTICS gain, still you've got to wonder why he's being left out.....

Agree0 Disagree0

Leaving Commons out is a joke and the whole Steven Fletcher thing is pathetic....text messages from third party's etc....two grown men behaving like primary school kids.

Agree0 Disagree0

That Levein never ceases to amaze people with his baffling decisions. He said bedore the last double header none of the modfield had let him down previously and therefore he couldn't drop any of them for Commons. Well that double header came and went and all of the midfielders were rotten. He now recalls Brown and Darren Fletcher (he's played one semi competative game in about 8 months). What's the excuse for no Commons this time ??

Simple - there's a manager in charge who hasn't got a bloody clue what he's doing.

Absolutely shocking

Gary

Agree0 Disagree0

There's no doubt that levein is a **** but i would never wish that scotland would get humped! always support your country no matter what.

Agree0 Disagree0

No one rates the spl outside of scotland, the spl is considered like a 4th tier league in england, so most of the midfield play down south.

Maybe commons needs to be ambitious and move to the epl to prove he is worthy? {Ed007's Note - Ian Black was playing in the fourth tier of Scottish football when he got his first cap after 3/4 seasons playing in the SPL.}
