What is going on at the minute? I have never heard of this guy but I am puzzled that we punted Watt only to replace him with a short term loan! Are we having a closing down sale to rival Southampton? Seriously beginning to panic at the lack of money being invested.

Agree0 Disagree0

It depends on if we qualify for the CL group stages. RD has been told that he can only sign the players on his wishlist if we qualify. I guess we'll still have to wait a bit.

Agree1 Disagree0

How do you know he has been told that.bare you a board member, are you peter Lawell? This guy played under RD for a season so he must know what he can do and must think he is a safer option than Watt

Agree0 Disagree0

**** knows? Expecting a flop but I just don't know what to say very rare something like this working out! Even if we qualify we still won't get good money to spend seems we are getting ripped off let's hope RD is a transfer genious.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ronny D is a coach who works with what he's given. i'm guessing he took the job with this mandate in mind. he'll have his say but park and lawell call the shots on signing policy. the last few years have shown us this

Agree0 Disagree0

Same as any new guy, ill give him a chance

Ed, do you know anything about the player that signed today?He got the number 16 jersey, he's got a funny name ( Ber Something ).

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - Jo Inge Berget it is JB. He's a 23 yr old Norwegian striker who's down at Cardiff just now. Ole Gunnar Solskaer signed him in January from his previous club Molde, he played ONE game for Cardiff. Has he actually signed?}

A loan deal with an option to buy?

I'm one of the optimistic posters on here but even I know this makes no sense!

I have the fear

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye ed he has signed until jan 15 with option to buy, never seen him play or heard of him. Doesn't look good a striker who could not get in to a team who were struggling for goals

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - ........ *speechless*.......

Hi JB & Ed , yes he has signed! on Loan! record in Norway is 17 in 63 , for what I can see of him he is left footed and plays on the left of the THREE which gives me even more fears for Commons! Norwegian journalist Egil Sande said " Berget is a robust , smart player with good technique, his biggest weakness is his FINISHING! ( don't get me started on finishing Ed! )

The board are taking the Micky, no ambition at all it is shocking we as fans pay out combined a hell of money over a season we deserve better. Fuming here

Agree0 Disagree0

He played under RD for a season (31 games) so he must have identified him and think he can bring something to the club

Just read on the Celtic website they are arranging a friendly with Villarreal for charity. A quote for Peter Lawwell says: "Celtic is delighted to have such a magnificent support worldwide and we have enjoyed a fantastic relationship with Villarreal and Celtic Submari CSC (Celtic Villarreal fan group) over the years. Does this also mean the Aquino deal could be closer/revived?

I've read reports that Southampton are meant to be coming in for both FF and VVD.
Seems they have cash to burn after the sale of Lovren and Chambers.
You heard anything about this Ed?

Believable4 Unbelievable3

{Ed007's Note - Southampton are interested in both of them, I think it's almost certain Forster will end up there, it's between him and David Marshall but with England GK coach Dave Watson there Forster looks more likely. How better to help break into the England team for France 2016 than working with the England coach every day.
It's the same with van Dijk, what better way to raise his profile and help his international chances than playing for a Dutch manager in the EPL. Louis van Gaal told van Dijk before the World Cup he was one for the future so perhaps there is an outside chance of Utd bidding, Moyes was interested and van Gaal knows all about him. He's been watched by nearly every EPL team last season and this summer and Spurs are keen on him as well. I think the van Dijk situation is harder to call, if we get CL football he might fancy working under Deila to see how things go.}

Forster, certainty to go. Main reason we got Gordon- in keeping with cheap option policies in place.

Van Dijk, not so sure this season. I reckon he knows big club in premiership are watching him and perhaps will hold off a season to see if Van Gaal will make a move for him and take him to man utd.

Celtic agree fee of 1.2 m for tony watt to standard liege! Big suprised tbh

Believable13 Unbelievable5

Ed do u think he has just not show. Enough to RD? And do u think we are having a clear out? There are so many players I would sell befor what!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm surprised by the move, Watt is a better player than both Stokes and Griffiths but if RD has seen enough and is happy to let him go then so be it but I'm even more surprised Watt has chose to return to Lierse after what happened there. I just hope the decision wasn't influenced by others bending RD's ear.}

Is it not standard liege he's off too? I hope we have a buy back sell on clause.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - So it is, my mistake mate lol, last night I was told it was Lierse who were ready to bid and I'm just up and online today.}

Why are we selling him? He needs to be given a chance a proper chance. He is a great talent better than most of the options we already have. Not happy with this what so ever.

Agree1 Disagree0

We should sell pukki. he's been a complete flop. even against reykjavik he played bad. if he would always score 2 goals that would be fine then but he'll have big problems when the better teams come. all schalke fans I know wanted him to leave at the time we bought him. i'm happy with the squad, I just want a top class striker we can rely on!

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe the decision was taken out of RD's hands due to past indiscretions and lack of discipline - whatever the case, it is a big disappointment as he was a class act.
It just adds to the frustration of our whole transfer strategy when we should be adding quality and building a better squad - not losing our brightest talent.
Maybe if he goes we could go for Johnny Russell as a like for like replacement?

JJ

Agree0 Disagree0

Get shot of him! Telling Danny McGrain that he could teach him nothing is a huge lack of respect for a Celtic great, had his chance . Bye bye tony . U blew it son

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he has major promise but maybe he's not giving RD what he's looking for? I would loan him In the spl for a year and see what he does before making any decisions like this what about a poll ed if us the fans want him to stay or go.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've set the poll up here.

It would appear that tony watt does indeed have an attitude problem.from what we hear, he was quite rude to Danny mcgrain and Neil lennon, and took his attitude to Belgium which we have all read about.now it would appear Ronny Deila has seen enough to sanction his move away from the club.i said in a post a few weeks ago that he had been given an opportunity to resurrect his career at celtic, but as the previous poster said you have blown it, good riddance.killy.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think its a good idea to get rid of anyone untill new faces arrive. I personally don't know the facts of Tony Watts discipline issues at celtic, but one thing I do know is the set up they have in belgium at the moment is up there with the best in europe. The experience would of only of enhanced his game. Just got a gut feeling sanctioning transfer will come back to haunt us.

Ed, do you know if celtic have any links with belgium clubs? Personally I think if we did it would be a fantastic opportunity to develop youth farming them out on loan

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We did have a partnership with Oostende but I'm not sure if that's still active.}

Why we selling our best striker for peanuts? because apparently he's got the devils attitude! Boy gets bad press for nowt. Lived the dream scoring THAT goal, then Lennon didn't use for him weeks and when he did he was thrown on the wing! He took the huff to this and so what? The boys an out and out striker. Every time he's on the ball he looks quick, strong and direct something we lack very much! Far too many sideway passers#boring#easyoption. Can't believe we're sitting back and let such a talent walk away. And just throwing this in there young boy chambers who just signed for arsenal made like 24 senior appearances went for £16m. We're going to sell our biggest assets for under £10m each. Time to start acting like the huge club we are!

Agree1 Disagree0

I'm not being funny but every teenager early 20's think they know it all! But to sell is a big mistake loaning him for another year or two yes but it's such a waste of potential! We all don't know exactly what's went on behind the scenes and yes we have too many similar strikers but I just don't see selling as a good option!
Thanks for the poll ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully this will be the start of getting rid of the dead wood, good riddance from me

Agree0 Disagree0

Iam gutted we have let Watt go, would rather Stokes was sold to be honest, the wee man was scoring goals in a better league than ours last season, think it a disgrace to sell him but no surprised the bhoy was never going to get a chance I keep hearing about an attitude problem & off field problems might be true but Griffiths & especially Stokes have done far worse than this lad, this why I lost bit a respect for Lenny to be honest he only played Stokes more when Hooper left if Hoops stayed Stokes would never have got a look in, I hate to say it but we turning into a selling club & we getting weaker every year now.

Agree0 Disagree0

I really hope Tony Watt goes to Standard Liege and sets the Champions League on fire! he cannot be any worse than stokes and griffiths for attitude and these little neds will be found out soon enough!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm with you on this one, Edward, I hope Watt really gives it a go and goes on to have a great career. We've let some class players slip through our fingers by not paying the price (McCarthy, Fletcher) but I fear we have let a real talent slip through who was on our books. If Pedro is as shrewd a businessman as he likes to think I wonder if he has put a sell-on clause in the deal.}
