In December 2010, People.co.uk reported a rumour that Aston Villa would transfer Ireland to Celtic F.C. of the Scottish Premier League, possibly on a loan deal, with Celtic picking up the bulk of his salary. At the time, Ireland had only played in 5 of 14 Villa games. On Thursday, 16th December 2010, it was reported by the Daily Mail that Celtic hoped to receive clearance from the Aston Villa Hierarchy to complete a 6 month loan deal for the Cobh born midfielder. On 19 December 2010, Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier stated that Stephen Ireland was free to leave the club after having met with the player's representatives

Nice to see some big names getting paraded around Parkhead - Rosenthingy seems good and i believe Darren O'Dea has given a personal plee to Freddie Lungburg to join him at Celtic. Steven Ireland, Shay Given, Rab E Keane & Tuncay have all been mentioned - i wonder if they will all sign, like Campbell, Bullard, Bellamy, James, Owen, Appiah & Bojan did last xmas?
Not any defenders there though - it doesn't matter, i am so gullable i will be in the carpark anyway - going mental about a 6 month patch-job in a position we do not need.

Astonishing, but heard today that Rednapp will allow Robbie Keane to return to Celtic permanently for £6.5M & that Keano will settle for £50K per week plus coaching role from 2012 onwards.
