I know there is a stigma around CL 'hangovers' and we are nursing a few injured players and I know we are still top of the table. But surely we have a sufficiently ample and talented squad to gain 3 points at home in the SPL against a bottom 3 team?
There is also a severe blind spot regarding James Forrest - who I mentioned last season as being depended on far too much for a player so young - He has shown great potential, but should have been used with more caution and nurturing.
As a result the boy's confidence is shot to hell and his body language has been obvious for months.
Not wanting to be too harsh, but we failed to turn up against a workmanlike team and that's very sloppy.
Don't like moaning but we are competing on several fronts and the players must be up for it every week.

Totally agree I feel Forrest is at best an impact player last 20mins when players r tired
Dez

Agree0 Disagree0

OP sorry but i am going to disagree with you about Forrest, the laddie is begining to believe all this hype about him, if he would run at player's instead of coming inside most of the time i am sure he would be more beneficial to the team. This throwing his hand's up every time someone goe's near him doe's my head in. When he loses the ball he very seldom chase's back, especially in the last 20 minuete's of a game. I honestly do not know how he lasted 90 mins today it's time Neil opened his eye's to him.
Tambhoy ( original )

Agree0 Disagree0

Forrest is a young man with a lot of maturing and development to do as a player and a person. We can hardly blame hIm for being a young laddie. I agree he needs a bit more protection but sometimes you have to be tested to see what you are made of. I think NL knows what he is doing. As for the performance of the rest of the Bhoys, I think we really do not appreciate what we asked of them the other night. I was at the Camp Nou and if you think it looked like backs to the wall on TV it was much worse in real life. It is possibly one of the most impressive defensive displays ever and certainly the best from any Celtic team at any time. Sure we lost the game but on paper we were heading for a 5-0 drubbing. To see xavi

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Ed posted by accident.... Live was something else, what a player. Anyway we contained them for 93 minutes and the Bhoys who played did the equivalent of 90 mins with a heavyweight boxer fighting as middleweights. That takes some doing. To expect a performance after the Camp Nou heroics only a few days later was ridiculous. The team should have been changed wholesale and the midweek Bhoys should have been rested. Of course we may still have lost the game. Sopot Celt

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with tambhoy. Forrest is really doing my head in these days.
Smelly.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't to see McGeogh come back from injury, from what little we have seen of him this season, I think he has looked really sharp, and he might provide the kick up the arse and competition that Forrest needs. Id love to see McGeogh get a good run in the first team.

Quack.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've posted on numerous occasions about forrest's shortcomings n been shot down in flames. Agree with others comments and perhaps believing the hype from last season. Yes, he's young but look in other leagues and at same age many players further advanced. Take him out if team meantime . Stevo dundee

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm a diehard Celtic fan and all this talk of giving young guys such as Forrest 'protection' is a load of garbage! Protection from what? Playing football? James Forrest is one of the most overrated youngsters ever to come through the Parkhead ranks! I totaly agree with the 2nd message in this post, the throwing his hands up looking for pens, fouls every two mins does my head in!

Agree0 Disagree0

Whos the bottom 3 team

Agree0 Disagree0

Forrest is over rated and hasn't kicked a ball from us for ages, my heart sank when I saw he was coming on in the Camp Nou to replace Sammi. All this arms in the air stuff is for kids aged 12 and under....not someone with pretentions of being a Celtic regular. Rant over !

Agree0 Disagree0

Forrest is a very good player. I accept and it is obvious he hasn't done so well lately but I think the criticism is over the top. So what is it you don't like as the hands in the air seem to be more important than the ball at his feet. So what if he is annoying at times with these gestures. The guy is 21 ok he is the same age as Victor so suddenly should everyone be as good as Wanyama and be compared to him. Blaming him for everything as some do and the late goal at Camp Nou was ridiculous. Izzy was dreadful for months, Kayal has not got back to his best and has had terrible form. I wonder at what some fans expect of our players. Fraser Forster got pelters for months and the same guys who were having a go at him are now praising him. Football is a fickle business and players can take years to develop into consistently capable players, just look at Sami! It really is time fans and some supporters stopped bleating about the young men who have the talent and balls to pull on the shirt,by all means have an opinion but for goodness sake these are our Bhoys and whatever anyone thinks IMHO they deserve a little more respect. I just find it very disappointing that Celtic men seem al too happy and ready to diss the players on such a personal level. Only my opinion lads. Sopot Celt

Agree0 Disagree0

A lot of what you say makes total sense regarding young Forrest as for us being able to beat Kilmarnock it really should be a given, yes strange results do crop up but really good teams would create more chances then you have a better % chance of scoring surely!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sopot celt,so what if he is annoying with these gesture's,have you not heard of playing to the whistle, all we are asking is that he play's to HIS strength's instead of being a prima donna,if you think that is " dissing" him, then i have not been supporting Celtic in the right way for 55 year's.
Tambhoy ( original )

Agree0 Disagree0

Tambhoy you sound like a miserable middle aged guy......a bit like mesel, I think that means we can support the Celts any way we like. Sopot Celt

Agree0 Disagree0

Sopot Naw i'm a miserable AULD guy,who wish's he had the talent to pull on the Hoops. Come on you boy's in green.,
Tambhoy ( original )

Agree0 Disagree0

Hail Hail Tambhoy.

For its a grand old team to play for....

Good luck the the night Bhoys.

That was as poor as we have played since the dark days. Killie came and done to us what we done to Barca, defended, broke well with the only difference being they won. Why? If i'm honest i thought Lenny got it wrong in his selection. Watt should have started for sure, and we should have used the same formation as the St Mirren game, namely three up front with two wide, the Barca way.But having said that the players must have a long hard look at themselves. Matthews distribution is,at times shocking,Ambrose and Mulgrew hardly hit a good pass all day and Commons was well short. Add to that Miku had a shocker,i dont remember a ball sticking to him all game, and we now seem to be getting six minutes over ninety of Forrest doing what he is good at,Running past defenders. I thought we might have learned how to make teams who defend chase us,the way Barca did to us,we have not. But the worst thing? I dont remember their keeper making one meaningful save and thats poor. We seem to lack some real creativity, someone who can make that bit of space 20-25 yards from goal and slip someone in.Which brings me to Ibrahim, what about it Lenny? The league cup game seems made for him, lets see what this kid can do as we have heard enough about his talent. We need something to lift us......... green jhedi

Believable13 Unbelievable3

I hope our manager admits he made mistakes today . To leave our form players on the bench was crazy . Big Vic , Hooper , Watt . We went 2-0 down and we bring on McCourt . Play our strongest team , put the game to bed then play the guys who are looking for a game . I also think Kayal could be on his way after today's subs at HT. Mulgrew in midfield come on . . DH

Agree0 Disagree0

Watt wasnt rested today he didnt even travel to barca so why did he not start

Agree0 Disagree0

Hindsight's a wonderful thing, its done now as long as learning is taken from the game and we move on

Im afraid miku comes under the same bracket as brozek and bangura. he is never going to make it at celtic. wouldnt surprise me if his loan deal is cut short in january, not good enough. more players should have been rested today.

celticthomas

Believable13 Unbelievable12

Miku was making decent runs, just no final passes came anywhere near him, Forrest is a bigger worry, his last good game is bcoming a historical event. There were no pass marks today, just hustled out of it by a side with no skill and a bit of effort.

chasaboy

Agree0 Disagree0

He had nightmare, shouldn't be played before watt, only pass marks to mulgrew today, team lacked everything
Ska bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Miku looks a good player but if you look back the last time miku played from start against st johnston the rest of the team didnt show up as there where to many under performers to as was the but when he came on againstst mirren he did well

Agree0 Disagree0

The whole team has an off day and you say miku is not good enough? Ya he didn't have a great game but made goods runs and it needs more time to gel ex:commons pass on the outside when miku was running btw the defenders in middle. What about his game against benfica when he runs them out the park making them kick it oh in there own end? Relax it was his 3start I think and has shown up well and needs more time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would not write the lad off just yet. the service today was shocking and no striker
would have looked good today.
tony watt was not involved in spain in midweek so should have started the game after his display last week.
lenny is tinkering with the team too much for me. ambrose and wilson have looked good together and splits it up for no reason as we had plenty of midfield cover.

Agree0 Disagree0

See if you analyse it before crap you mite see that the whole team were terrible and not just one player in Miku, he,s appeared what 4, 5 games and ur all he ain't good enough, get a grip and judge him at the end of the season if he stays, if the whole team play well then miku ain't gonna play well.

Agree0 Disagree0

"only pass marks to Mulgrew". You must watch a different match to me. Mulgrew gave the ball away all afternoon. How bad does Forrest have to play before he is taken off?

Agree0 Disagree0

**** happens. If Ledley and Watt score their sitters we r laighing. Good times and bad.

Agree0 Disagree0

A player that is supposedly valued at 8million, and was priced out of a move to the premier league, really needs to be doing better in the spl! If there is a player we need to be giving a chance to its Tony Watt, for celtics sake and for Scotland! He might not be the finished article but he's a hell if a lot more exciting than miku and lassad!

Agree0 Disagree0

A brace against royal madrid (micu) couple months ago, couldnt see bangura doing that tho

Agree0 Disagree0

Miku will come good, Im sure of that. I hate to see people jump on a player for not being an immediate success. To me it shows a lack of knowledge of the game.

Quack.

Agree0 Disagree0

What a load of rubbish quack , a player especially a striker who hasnt kicked a ball near an opposing gk deserves criticism ,,,deep river bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought none of them deserved pass marks today , Commons woeful , Mulgrew woeful and Ambrose had his worst game since signing , poor performance , poor result but not the end of the world .

Agree0 Disagree0

Ive seen this a lot from Celtic fans, they are very quick to hang a player out to dry... I look at Izzy, when he came back from injury and he wasn't playing like his usual self, all of a sudden he is finished, and we should be looking for a new left back... but now he is clearly showing the form he had before his broken ankle, and it has shut you nae sayers up. You don't seem to realise that these things take time, and it'll take time for Miku to show us his best.

Quack

Agree0 Disagree0

It was a lazy performance and the most annoying thing about miku was the fans having to screaming abuse at him to get off the park when he got subbed that just summed up the hole teams lazyness

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on Bhoys....need a reality check here...the entire team a huge dissapointment and lack of supply the real issue....Henrik would have struggled on team performance like this....DO NOT AGREE with tired as an excuse....home for Wednesday and rested Thursday...trained on Friday....where was the exhaustion? In players heads....as for Miku games are required and team playing well....how many games did Hooper go without setting the world on fire!Words of our songs shouldn't have to be used but...''Faithful through and through''.Start Miku and Hooper in the cup.....play Dylan in place of Forrest and see the difference in link up play.HAIL HAIL!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Miku should be told to Getaff

Lennons team selection was poor today. A few should have been rested today and why is watt not starting

Believable12 Unbelievable5

Should of started with hopper and watt first get the goals then make the subs anyway still top of the league still be champions and that's what counts.Henke7

Agree0 Disagree0

We seem to suffer with a Euro hangover every game now. And no way Miku is a 6m player, if he is then Wanyama is worth 5 times that!

Agree0 Disagree0

On what basis?

Agree0 Disagree1

There was no call to rest any more players today. they have had ample time to recover from Barcelona. think the tactics were a wee bit off and players were far too sloppy. is that the same watt that blasted over the bar from 3 yards?

Agree0 Disagree0

Henke7 , your answer to todays performance is who cares we'll still be champions ! Well i care , that today is up there with the 3 worst performances i've seen from a Celtic team at Celtic Park in the last 15 years, i feel sorry for the fans that stumped up 30 quid for that dross, i can take defeat when we put up a fight but today was woeful. The biggest worry to me today was the majority of the Celtic fans accepting defeat which we have never done at Celtic Park, and the reason is we haven't a challenger this season....... Stevie

Agree0 Disagree0

Team selection wasnt poor. Team was off form thats all. Troll on.

Ed do you know of any interest in charlie austin of swindon. The guy scores goals for fun! i seem to remember us being interested in him a while back. I was reading through the liverpool thread and came across it there that we were interested

Celticthomas {Ed007's Note - CFC had Austin watched against Blackpool last week, there is definite interest in him.}

Believable2 Unbelievable6

Have had my eye on this guy since he was at swindon and there were rumours of interest from us. he is a great player and scores all kinds of goals.i think he would suit us perfectly but may be out of our price range now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is he not with burnley now?

jgd

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic were very interested in him even before he joined Swindon. A natural goalscorer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Austin plays with burnley now! Still scoring the goals though. It's looking likely it will be somebody of his stature to replace hooper/stokes or both? Johnny Russell still cheaper option and maybe followed up in jan or nxt summer?

ed what channel is the game on
today?, cant find it on my tv listings {Ed007's Note - It's not on TV.}

Believable0 Unbelievable2

I think I might get rid of my Sky contract. I do not pay a lot of money to watch Scottish 3rd division football. FH

Agree0 Disagree0

You don't need to watch the 3rd division game that's on!! There's plenty other games to watch, To the OP, very rarely a Celtic game at home is shown on sky/ESPN due to trying to pull a crowd.... And today they needed it,,,, but even I can't afford the reduced prices for my 3 kids and 29 bangers each for my wife and I. Something needs to be looked at!?

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

Its only because Celtic are in the SPL that a new TV deal was struck. House bound supporters like me should be able to watch SPL games and not Div 3. I totally agree with the OP. SW

Having looked around the various boards, the Wanyama fee ppl are saying down south is between 12m -17m from Liverpool to Man utd, i would like Celtic to get this lad on a contract to 2016 an extra year on his current contract and if it takes £25,000/ wk to make it happen then so be it, we can then hold onto him for the next 2 seasons then cash in big time if we can make it into the champions league year on year. Vic will still only be 23yrs old and have more experience under his belt and a lot more teams than just the epl sides will be intrested. Just my opinion HH maccabhoy

Believable10 Unbelievable3

I think we will get about 12 million as well Macca. One things for sure, it will be a helluva lot more than Rangers got for Jelavic,McGregor and Naismith put together and more than their club is even worth. Keep on looking up newco/sevco/zombies it will be a long long time before you are significant to the whole of the Scottish game never mind significant to us.

Agree0 Disagree0

I honestly believe that Wanyama will go on to become a world class defensive midfielder eventually. The raw talent he has is by far the best I have seen in Scotland in many a year, since Rino probably. Wanyama will end up playing for a Real Madrid, one of the Milan teams or a Man Utd. There will be a transfer window in about 4 or 5 years and Wanyama will be the most wanted player during that window for crazy money. BTW I am a Gers man to the core but I'm not daft enough not to acknowledge what is plain for anyone to see. Anyone who can't see his potential knows nothing about football or just doesn't like him because he isn't at Ibrox.

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard that barca was intrested in wanyama

Hail hail

Marco1888

Agree0 Disagree0

That wouldn't surprise me after the other night Marco.

Agree0 Disagree0

lmao@ it will be more than Jelavic mcgregor and naismith put together. He is worth more than the entire Rangers squad last season!! Remember Mcgregor was going to Arsenal and Jelavic was off to Liverpool, that would cover the debts with Gattuso, Weiss and Novo all returning lmfao along with the "real Gers men" like lafferty and Davis would all stay to fight. oh how much shite they spoke and believed. Anybody else got their favourite Manky Mob Meltdown Moment?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the funniest has yet to come. I like the Jellyp*sh,shagger and naismith stuff just now lol, keep em coming bhoys

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets be honest boys there is no player in the scottish game that'll ever go for 12 million.

Victor Is a great player but we'll be lucky to get 8 million for him.
