Steven Caulker?
When he signed for Dundee, the rumour was it was to get 6 months fitness under his belt and join up with us pre-season.
I know Dundee knocked back an offer last year and that was as apparently the deal to join us was done before he joined Dundee.
Anyone heard anymore info on this and what's they general thoughts on him?

If he can get rid of his baggage he would be a solid CB. To pair with jozo or young ajer.

Surely out of all the right backs that are in our budget range we can't be seriously looking at someone that's been out for 2 seasons.
If anything it's a punt.
It either a DB gamble or a CG gamble.
My problem is we shouldn't be taking punts.
As each day goes by I feel this window could be another damp squib.

Looking at the boy and how he’s came through from adversity to make it down south. he looks like the type of player that BR can improve and make £ for if he is past his problems fitness wise for £0 can’t get see any issues think it could be a good solid signing.

We should be looking for someone that can go straight in ahead of lustig not as back up too. Would be great to see the boy make it but what happens if he breaks down and it’s an almost certainty Lustig comes back with an injury.

Why is the guy being written off he's only being assessed that's all. If he shows up then BR obvs sees something in him and there's no fee, bonus. Seems he was really highly rated before his injury.

I wouldn’t get too fussed with this. The buy has returned from an horrific injury. He certainly has talent, the question is will he be able to sustain fitness. If he can then we have a player. If not then we gave the guy a shot.
This doesn’t mean we are putting our eggs in a cracked basket. An assessment will be made. If he can play both positions we buy a RB who has no serious injury history just in case.
I would roll the dice with this. Let’s see how it goes. If he manages it we have a very good player who will make us a few bob and before that someone who will want to repay the faith showed in him.

That's the way I was thinking Ed. Odubajo comes in on a free as back-up, World Cup avidity takes over and somebody pays maybe a couple million for Gamboa? Then there's a few quid to be put towards somebody else to improve the first team. Can't say I'm bowled over by the link, but it could be very useful in terms of improving the overall squad.
