Celtic are going to sign Stipe Pletikosa.

Okay I hope you put this up just so I can keep Rangers supporting wums away...

Tonight we lost at home to Wolves in a friendly match. Wolves are just about to begin their 3rd successive season in the EPL and have spent £45million in the past 2 years.

Not one single player of ours started tonight that started in our 2-0 victory at Easter Road 3 days previously. Our line up against Wolves consisted of 2 regulars(Brown & Majstorovic), 2 trialists(Pletikosa & MPhela), 2 signings making their Celtic Park debut(Matthews & Wanyama), our 3rd choice right back(Cha), our 2nd choice left back(Mulgrew), 2nd choice right midfielder(Forrest), 2nd choice left midfielder(Maloney) and our 4th choice striker(Murphy)

You just lost at Ibrox 1 night ago in an actual competitive european qualifier against Malmo FF, the 8th placed team in the Swedish league, and as for your own pre-season well you lost 1-0 to Sportfreunde Lotte and lost 3-0 to Bundesliga 2 side VFL Bochum. All with your strongest team that is now ever failing under Paul Le Guen Mark 2, enjoy your season Bears, I know I will

Believable28 Unbelievable2

Personally i think lenny was using tonights game to get rid of some fringe players to free up wages etc to get a top class signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

You mised out Lacny, didnt look like he had it made alot of running but doest look as if he has what it takes

Agree0 Disagree0

Always enjoy my season m8t. unlike you i dont read anything into a friendly. the fact u wrote that means ur too pre occupied with wot we think

Agree0 Disagree0

I also think the score flattered Wolves and despite the defeat I was pretty pleased with the performance by a totally makeshift side. Their goals came from a free kick (well taken but poor wall and goalkeeping) and an unlucky own goal from young Twardzik. Overall however I think it was a fairly even and tightly contested game with very few clear chances for either side. Thought they defended really well, but didn't offer a huge attacking threat while I felt we kept the ball better than they did and probably had the territorial advantage but didn't create enough clear cut chances. IMO some class saves by their keeper (who was probably buisier than Pletikosa), slack play by our defence in giving away the free kick and a mistake from the least experienced player on the pitch basically was the difference.

Speaking of Twardzik, anyone else scared this guy will get hacked in two in the SPL if/when he gets a game? Never seen such a skinny football player, although maybe just tall...hard to tell. And Elokobi for Wolves on the other hand was built like a brick scheidt house. Didn't think he had a great game for Wolves as Forrest had him for pace, but in terms of sheer presence I wouldn't mind a taller version of him at CB.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tonight was about fitness for fringe players and trying to get a look at our trialists. I thought Mulgrew looked, Forrest and Mathews looked good so tonights game had positives. The only positives Rangers got from their game with Malmo is that it was only 1-0 when it could have easily been more.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ur post is correct to a point the point being mulgrew was more of a regular than big dan last year yh hes a 2nd choice left bk but was 1st choice cb las season so u got tht bit rong

Agree0 Disagree0

8 trophie from 12 in the last 4 season, uefa cup final and debt free mmmmm rather be a ger than a manky mob member watp

Agree0 Disagree0

If u think ur debt free pal.....ur deluded. dont think for a minute that whyte paid with his own money.....its just owed elsewhere. ur club is on a serious dowmward spiral.....good luck wi that :). oh....and dont forget....the tax man is coming :)

all this crap aboot goody, it was bellamy.
signed my burds programme.

Believable14 Unbelievable7

Can believe it due to the fact that bellamy isnt getting any younger and may be at the point in his career where he wants to win a few medals. Apart from a scottish cup medal with the hoops in 2005, he has only ever won a community sheild medal with liverpool in 2006.

Dont rate goodwillie at all

Agree0 Disagree0

Listen guys . so what if bellers was at the game he has prob just came to see the game as he still has a soft spot for us. We can't afford his wages and as for goodwillie he can feck off do not want him anywhere near me beloved club

hail hail
Marco1888

Agree0 Disagree0

Ehhhh... don't think Goodwillie wants to be anywhere near your mhanky club pal

Agree0 Disagree0

True Marco1888 you do have 2 valid points, but with bellamy u never know. Its happened once before against the odds whos to say it wont happen again?

The main reason im saying this is, i think bellamy is a professional who wants to play football rather than stay at a team where he has no future and see out possibly the last few good seasons he has in the man city reserves if hes lucky.

If a club in the EPL was going to take him, it would of been done and dusted by now.

Thats why I think there is a good chance if he was there, there was an ulterior motive. Why come to see Celtic play Wolves in a meaningless friendly midweek?

Agree0 Disagree0

HAHA YOU CALLING US A MANKY CLUB??

1873-1989

Enough said and yes Goodwillie certainly belongs at Ibrox, along with Andy Goram, Allan McGregor, El Hadji Diouf and those types...

Agree0 Disagree0

And so the orcs' obsession with scotland's most prestigious club continues

Hi ed. Just watch the game very impress with mulgrew thought he showed more leadership than brown. Victor and Matthews look good. The two strikers didn't impress at all. Goalkeeper hadn't alot to do think the wall let him down for the first goal and he couldn't do anything about the second. Big sammy did the same old shxt I hope somebody takes him. Young James was very good. Lenny using these friendlies to put players we are trying to sell on show. Bigirishmac {Ed007's Note - Mulgrew's game has came on leaps and bounds since his first time at CFC, he seems to be relishing the second chance he has been given.}

Believable11 Unbelievable1

IMO Sammy did more in his 10 mins on the pitch than Murphy did the whole game. As a result of that and Wolves defending pretty well the trialists weren't really given any opportunity to shine.

Mulgrew had a good game.

Forrest IMO was man of the match.

Pletikosa's positioning for the first goal was awful. Sure, the wall broke, but it's not like the ball nestled out of reach in the top corner. Had he not been so far to his left (also giving O'Hara a target) he might've saved it. Still, I reckon he'd be worth signing on a free. His CV speaks for itself and he's a good age for a keeper.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sign the keeper now on a 1 year with option of another, wont get better for free. Mulgrew was great tonight, becoming a solid central defender. It try it with him and wilson for a game at the weekend. Forwards didn't get much of a chance tonight but we need to spend to get the right man in up front, hope we get rid of about 5 or 6 fringe players before the window shuts.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought the 2 forwards did ok but never got a lot of service, but both tried to push themselves into the game and looked sharp and made good runs, wanyama was good but i dont agree with you about forrest he contributed nothing and was basically anonymous

ed, few texts saying david goodwillie at tonights pre season game, u heard much? {Ed007's Note - I have heard it from a few people.}

Believable11 Unbelievable6

He was defo there, looked like his team mate johnny russell beside him.
doesnt mean he is signing though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope he is signing ... Him and hooper , commons, Ledley ki, give us the league now ... Hail hail

Agree0 Disagree0

Just back in the house, couldnt say 100% it was him, but there were a few songs getting sung to the person.
did look like him right enough

Agree0 Disagree0

It could be he was there because of wolves ? dundee utd just rejected a bid from an unnamed english side

Agree0 Disagree0

Yip, it was him alright, a few boos were heard, aswell as some cheers though.
cracking signing

Agree0 Disagree0

Me and the wife seen him, was him, thats fact.
him and hoops up front, 2 fit, fast and brilliant finishers up front, bring it on

lubo no1

Agree0 Disagree0

Would've probably been able to confirm was it not for Haymarket train derailment in Edinburgh screwing my chance to get to the game in time for kick o...er nah, scrap that... full time.

No mention of it on the stream.

As for Wolves being the "unnamed English side" it wouldn't surprise me. They're often on the lookout for bargains. However I'd say there's as much chance of it being us in for him as Wolves, if not both sides.

Agree0 Disagree0

If he signed he wouldn't be able to play in the Europa League if we qualify. He's already played for Dundee United in the qualifiers. And we need a striker to partner Hooper in Europe as well as the league

Agree0 Disagree0

Am i the only one who seems to find a move for goodwillie totally uninspiring. i've always thought he was overrated and dont see what he would bring to the club that we dont already have.. or couldn't find better elsewhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

No mate, I also see a move fo him pointless. Better options out there

Agree0 Disagree0

IMO he is a bit overrated. The potential is there for him to be a cracking player, but his reputation and off-field behaviour could also drag him down. Wouldn't exactly complain if we signed him though as he'll only improve.

To be fair he's probably worth 2M (and IMO United should've stuck a 4 or 5M pricetag on him to make sure they really cash in on these numpties from the EPL preying on their best players) but there's probably better out there for less than 2M.

I agree as well - he's not really the type of striker we need even if he would be a good signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think goodwillie is a good player for a team on par with Dundee United. Personally i think these days £2m gets u a good striker who will do the trick. goodwillie is not in that catergory

Agree0 Disagree0

You make a fair point about Wilson he's only played one match you don't no what could happen over a course of a season, I haven't heard anything about kayal wanting out though.

Agree0 Disagree0

just finished watchin the game, although its a friendly, am a wee bit worries about the cover we have at the back

plus the trialists showed nothing at all.

ps. mate phoned from the game, goodwullie suppose to be there watching??
awaiting pics

Believable9 Unbelievable2

The rumour at the game was it was goodwillie, seen the comotion in the stand at half time, was defo someone causing people to take pics and the chant sounded like spmething about him? couldnt really tell

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah they should've just started with all three trialists on the pitch. 45 mins isn't enough.

Pletikosa's positioning for the free kick was awful. Other than that I thought he was ok but like the last friendly didn't have a great deal to do bar the one-on-one with Kevin Doyle.

The other two had maybe one chance each from headers, but neither really impressed not because they're necessarily bad players but basically as they weren't given enough of the ball. Murphy offered next to nothing beside them so they weren't brought into the game. I'd have started with Samaras - he often drops deep and tries to link with his strike partners and we'd likely have seen more of them.

Not overly worried at all by the result (very few regular starters in the team) and certainly not the defence. Matthews/Cha had a good game and Mulgrew was alright. Major was caught out of position numerous times though but other than the odd flourish Wolves didn't threaten us a great deal.

Thought overall it was a fairly even game despite the scoreline and we certainly had more of the ball in their half than the other way round. Neither side created any real clear-cut chances though which made it a bit disappointing as a spectacle. Wolves scored from a direct free kick and an unfortunate OG from a cross. Would've been nice to see a goal as on the balance of play we deserved at least one but to be fair to Wolves they dealt with our attacks pretty well and could've had three were it not for Pletikosa as it was virtually the only clear chance of the game.

According to this, the losers of champs league qualifier round 3 will go into the play offs with us.
My query is, If Malmo knock the shame out and they join us in the play offs, would they be seperated from us (no 2 countries can be drawn together), or is there a chance of a European O/F game?

Hi Ed, first time poster on this site. Hearing Knowledge Musona deal could be stepped up after the Wolves game tonight. You heard anything on this? {Ed007's Note - Welcome to the site, I have no new information on the Musona deal, sorry. The player himself has said it is only 50/50 that he will join Hoffenheim now. Believable5 Unbelievable2

Why are we offering £2.2m if £1.3m is acceptable? doesnt make sense {Ed007's Note - £1.3 million isn't acceptable or the deal to Hoffenheim would have been completed? These figures are coming from SA so may not be 100% accurate but should be there or there abouts. CFC have offered more money than Hoffenheim, that is how transfers work, clubs want to sell to the club that offers the most money.}

Kevbhoy {Ed007's Note - I would imagine participation in the CL would push it up higher Kev, it is a far more prestigious tournament.}

It's more beneficial for rangers to make the cl group as you receive bonus points for making it that far, if Celtic and rangers had a good run in Europe we could catch fourteenth meaning we regain the automatic place

Either or mate its all dependent on the teams you are playing and whether you win the or not ie Barca are ranked number 1 so beating them gives u a hell of a lot more than a nobody. However the chances of beating these teams are very slim so better to play lower teams that you can win. all depends on if its away or home ur playing (get more points for winning away) there is some long formula that they use .. i just dont know were to find it.

Agree0 Disagree0

The official UEFA website explains it. Sort of. In a weird, long winded way.

Long story short, better to be in Champs Lge as worth double Europa Lge Co-Eff pts. Further points for each round you progress. Then the mental equations come in, times the first number you thought of by the number of weeks Fat Sally will have a job and all becomes clear.

Or, we need to get further than Romanian teams to get back to 14th in the rankings.

"Professor Shaun" - Lol Ed, please will you let my ma know, she's always been so disappointed.

watched gers game on the net last night. heard the bears sing the billy boys and no condemnation from pat nevin. 2 faced wee runt.

Believable13 Unbelievable5

What do you expect from an uncle tim apologist, nevins still bitter he never got the chance to wear the hoops and his 2nd rate career fizzled out in murderwell

Agree0 Disagree0

As i already stated the billy boys were sung by a group of fans but they have replace the words F****n blood with celtic blood i still dont agree with it but it was banned because of the word F****n.

Tony

Agree0 Disagree0

Pat Nevin is a pretentious, soup taking little rat little rat. It would be interesting to hear Rob "I don't know what sectarian means" McLean's view on last nights bigoted nursery rhymes from the Govan hillbillies.

For all those rangers fans posting on the Celtic page, the only reason we missed out last season was due to the vast number of signings we made and the team not blending till January, I think you will see a different Celtic this season, so I would be more concerned with your teams inability to sign anyone of any real class rather than our team

Btw I really do hope we sign mphela would be a brilliant signing as would pletikosa. And does anyone know if the game is on tv tonight?

Junglebhoy33

Believable11 Unbelievable1

The reason we missed out last season is because samaras couldn't score from the spot at ibrox. he's a numpty

Agree0 Disagree0

Bhoys.....
the reason u never won the league is because u came 2nd. plain and simple.
celtic were not good enough to beat a team with only 8 players on full time contracts, how good that makes lennons team sound now.

the league is won over the course of the season, not one game against inverness or a spot kick against King shagga

Does anybody here no Wat happened to erimenko he is a great wee talent ........... Ed ? {Ed007's Note - The last I heard he was due to play for Leeds as a trialist against Motherwell the other week. He failed to arrive citing travel problems but Leeds lost interest when they realised there were 5 different agents working on any deal, his price has dropped from £1m to 300k now.}

Believable4 Unbelievable1

See his price has dropped too 300k how much do you think the shame will offer lol
hail hail
Marco1888

This will suit Sally McCoist and Ebeneezer Whyte, they will come in with an offer of £75k and probably pay a million on the last day of the window just like the Wallace deal c'mon the hoops

Boro fan here jst Havin a look around, u lot seem a lot more worried about what's goin on with rangers than ur own team. The words obsession and paranoia spring to mind {Ed007's Note - I think you have enough problems with your own team without worrying about CFC or Rangers.}

Believable8 Unbelievable9

Yawn.GTF worry about your own team.It never ceases to amaze me how supporters from Middlesborough, Motherwell, Liverpool, Rankers etc., spend so much time on our sites, I guess it just proves we are one of the biggest clubs in the world unlike your own clubs.

fatbhoy67.

Agree0 Disagree0

Go back to your own page n worry bout relegation and how u r going to afford to buy food this week now your giro has run out

Agree0 Disagree0

Why kid on your a Boro fan when your obviously a R*****s fan? What a sad f**k you are

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers are our main rivals for the league title, Its only natural that fans from both teams will be interested in each others transfer targets etc. I wouldn't expect a fan of a wee team like boro to understand this concept as your teams likely to win Hee Haw

Agree0 Disagree0

Leave him be lads, he's only after finding out who Mr Mowbray's coming to sign next from the SPL's giants.

As one of my learned colleagues said, local rivalry brings us together (although we might have to shift our attention to the Hearts soon), I'm sure that'd be the case for you if your rivals weren't in a league above you. Ah top flight footie.....remember it?

Shaunybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Coming from a clown with mowbray the moron as a manager id be more 'terrified' at what mr expansive football is doing to your club........hes the worst manager and biggest joke in our entire history

Agree0 Disagree0

You just worry about the Blue Square Premiership.

Agree0 Disagree0

This is coming fae a fan that will have tony not got a clue as there manager...idiot

Agree0 Disagree0

Hearts. Ha. Did rangers not win the league the last three years, how many trophies hav uz unwashed won in the last two yrs, one is it? Ha. Pathetic. OBSESSED, PARANOID and DELUDED

Agree0 Disagree0

A think this boro fan is naw well lol hahah a hope you and your team enjoy tony mowbrey hahha lol

Agree0 Disagree0

"Deluded"? What a curious word to use especially when you claim to be a "Boro" fan despite the fact that you obviously can't spell Middlesbrough (too many letters for your tiny brain to process) and then you resort to childish name-calling which is typical of the feral breed. The epitome of delusional is proclaiming that "We Are The People" yet you lowbrows need to evolve for another 1000 years before you can pass for human beings.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm a celtic fan from the boro and this is fairly typical behaviour and sentiment round here at the moment. the boro's supposed group of "ultras" called the red faction seem to have developed a soft spot for the shame. went to a lot of boro games growing up but can't see myself going back while it's frequented by a load of jack b*stards.

Agree0 Disagree0

What a complete t**t This guys a Boro fan (not). Comes onto the CELTS' page claimimg to be a Boro fan suggesting that we spend our time being paranoid about Rankers Boro fan, Celts' page Think about it you d**k

Just think about this if you guys had won at inverness last season that could have been celtic getting defeated at home by malmo -one thing is for certain your team is still not any better than across town so I think you and you rookie manager should calm down a bit dont you fail fail be humble the shoe certainly fits here at parkhead.

Believable2 Unbelievable19

Still yawning, GTF and spout the sh1t somewhere else kn*b.

Dont worry if i had a 41 year old cb i wouldnt expect to win against european minnows, but i dont so get it up ye

Random point bhoys does anyone remember an article in the daily record a few years ago about us signing some american defensive mid? The headline paid something like 'college bhoy' as he needed to go on loan etc to work permit etc. Is he still with us? What was his name? Any ideas as its been annoying me for ages. Thanks bankier bhoy aka canadian pete

Believable3 Unbelievable0

He definitely isn't with us. We only have one American who has ever played for us this century and his name is Dominic Cervi - a goalkeeper. Hope this information I gave you was useful my fellow tim. Hail Hail and god bless you.

Agree0 Disagree0

You're probally thinking of sacha klestjan. he was at celtic for a trial only. we never signed him

Agree0 Disagree0

Dominic cervi the goalkeeper he had to spent some time in italy due to passport criteria

Agree0 Disagree0

I know about Cervi but he has not actully played for us in a competetive game either. I don't think this guy is still with us but just want to know what happened?

THEY SHOULD KEEP THERE OWN FANS IN CHECK BEFORE SLAGGING OFF US.

Believable20 Unbelievable4

Yeah you could clearly hear them on the radio
