Cristian Gamboa from West Brom is the latest right back to be linked. Costa Rican international who is lightening quick but has struggled to get a game for West Brom. 1 year left on his contract so probably available for around £1-2 million.

Nice price but wait not good enough for West Bromwich but good enough for celtic in champs league.
We should pass and go bigger. Maybe as a squad player but realistically, he's not getting his game at West Bromwich nor has hever so he'd have to prove himself and learn how we play and we have that with janko. Just go and get florian klein (stuttgart) only one year left, gets his game for club and country (austria) and had a good euros.

{Ed001's Note - it was wet and slippy and he slammed into the post trying to get on the end of a cross. Probably only bad bruising knocking the wind out of him, though a broken rib or two at worst. Nothing to weaken his legs, so it won't affect the longevity of his career.}

Rogic made great strides last year, and has continued this form onto this year. Every celtic fan I speak to was desperate for the lad to stay and to get more game time.

BRFA from what I was told weeks ago marquee signing was arranged. McCarthy has come about only in recent week due to fall out with Koeman so I seriously doubt he is the marquee. I am expecting another.

We've spent about 4.5 million in total! With the money from johannsen and scepovic we're lucky if it works out at 1.5 million we've actually spent! Yes we're paying bigger wages, but I wouldn't call it pushing the boat out! Nowhere near it! We'll see how we are after the transfer window shuts before I decide if we've really backed Brendan!

you said …the marquee player is contingent on cfc qualifying for the champions league BECAUSE this player wants to win trophies…. he could win plenty of trophies (I assume its a "he" noting that there are some decent women footballers out there! ) …back to my point…he could win many/ many/ many trophies whether or not we qualify for the champions league (the competition with more non-champions in it than champions) ….
unless CFC were going to scrap the wage structure with the CL readies …. which I doubt very much.

Think bhoys some of us need to lower our expectations regarding "marquee" player coming in.
First it was schweinstiger, then ballotelli now nasri!
All these players are out our reach and regardless of CL qualification the wage structure won't be broken and with some of the names mentioned it would have to be significantly.
The only thing CL will do is free up some coin for transfer fees but again don't expect all of the 25m - 30m to go in because it wont.
Realistically i would say 15% of that will be invested into the squad.

correct me if i am wrong, but is McCarthys contract not up next season, if we take him on loan come jan he can sign a pre contract with us. so we will receive him for a loan fee this season then nothing next season. a couple of seasons with us and no doubt he will go back to the EPL for a decent amount considering he is only 25.

Why do we do this time and time again? Bank a decent cheque and then scrimp in the bargain bucket with either cheap crap or loans?

Surely games like today is were janko should be learning his trade and getting experience instead of giving bombs care in important matches.
Mixed feelings on mcgregor but if he is what I believe to be which is groomed as holding mid. The bench against Aberdeen is good for him to watch were he should be instead were he does be.
Should development not start to be getting game time at this stage.
Grif may start to need a rest.
