Anyone know of any possible replacements for Vic? Lennon said today he and the club are now resigned to losing him, so I'd think the scouting team will have already lined up some suitable replacements!

Believable8 Unbelievable9

Luke murphy of crewe. 6ft 2in centre mid. Noel.

Agree1 Disagree1

Don't need one mate, we have plenty cm's I think this year kayal will end up back at his best

Darrenbhoy

Agree2 Disagree0

Ideally they would bring someone in, but as Ambrose is hopeless in defence but can play football they might not feel they need to spend in that area?!
Celtic knew he was leaving before now and the supporters with no blinkers on knew he was leaving so its fair to say some one will have been identified to fill the position if they feel the need?!
Catch 22, we don't need anybody for that position in SPL (or whatever its called) but will do for CL, depends on boards ambition?
Kayal can do it with his eyes shut, but some supporters will now be looking for a 6 and a bit ft tank to run the midfield, I never really answered your question, Huddlestone would walk it up here but its not going to happen! I think it will be someone from the squad we have.

A good run of games for Kayal and he could get back to his best

I would hope Junior Malanda but I don't think that would happen
hoopydan99

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm all for giving Kayal a second chance, however anytime I seen him last season I thought he was really poor. When he started which wasn't very often he was usually subbed. Ian L

Agree1 Disagree0

Junior malanda. Zulte waregem. Young, but very much Wanyama in his playing styles.

Bartenderben

Agree0 Disagree0

It was Fergus McCann who first coined the epithet – more a sour reference to their fanciful wage demands and antics off the pitch than their buccaneering exploits on it regarding the three amigos. I'm guarded when players or in part their agents make such demands. I know more than a few of you will remember the antics of Jorge Cadete refusing to come back to paradise citing mental health problems. Big Vic might be next.

Agree0 Disagree0

Scott Brown and Joe Ledley will be in there with Kayal as back up and hopefully we get to see more of Rogic so I don't think we desperately need a replacement as such

Gary

Agree2 Disagree0

Although we'd be losing our best centre midfielder it wouldn't be a priority to sign another centre midfielder. Think we need a winger/playmaker and possibly a striker and left back before we look at buying a centre midfielder.

Agree1 Disagree0

What we have to remember is brown, kayal and ledley are injury prone so another centre mid is a must if vic goes. Noel

Agree0 Disagree1

Frimpong is a free agent. But ofcourse, this would never happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you're competing with the best in the cl then someone of wanyamas calibre is a must! he bossed the barca game at parkhead so I do think we need someone 6ft 2 or 3 in there. I don't think kayal is the answer tho, good back up but he, s always injured. we could easily afford a direct replacement though with the money we've raked in

Agree0 Disagree2

Brown Kayal and super joe are all quite injury prone though. I'd like another combative midfielder in the squad.

Agree0 Disagree1

I don't think we need anyone. We have Ledley, kayal, Brown, rogic, commons all for that cm spot. Would rather we bought a left back.

To be honest one Of the youth players could have replaced Wayama after the barca Game he wasn't interested after that . TTTS

Bartenderben is correct re Malanda - (who is actually not very tall, but at 18 may be still growing). Def one for the future.

Other strong candidates:
Kara Mbodj from R Genk - big, strong, fast Senegalese international, still young - about 23 - bigger than Wanyama, and previously attracted epl interest.
Mohammed Rabiu from Evian Thon Gaillard. neil watched them recently and will have had a look at this guy. Strong, box-to-box Ghanain international, good with the ball at his feet.

Jean-Pierre Laguerre I come on here everyday and you certainly seem to have a great knowledge of players playing abroad do you watch a lot of foreign football? I like to think I know a lot about football and have heard and watched most of those names you have mentioned but there is always one or 2 you mention I have to look up! I follow a lot Brazilian Football Brazil is a wash with young talent its just a pitty half of them wouldn't qualify for a work permit and don't settle well in this country! Anyway keep up the good work Pierre!

Agree1 Disagree0

Hi Gazcfc - I don't live in the UK, so watch Bundesliga mainly, and a bit of dutch/french/belgian football. Most of the players I recommend though are totally looked at from the 'celtic' angle - so I am always on the look out for players for our club. I have always kept an eye on the Belgian league, as the current crop of players in that country are excellent and a number of their clubs are set up like 'mini-Celtics' with a good scouting network looking for cheap foreign talent. IMO, players who have come through the french system (especially age-grade France teams) are technically very good, and the French players (particularly french-africans) have the size, athleticism and physicality to switch to Scotland, and also to handle the epl should they progress with us. that is why I recommend guys like Boli, Koulibaly, Mbodj, Rabiu, mensah, Nyom etc. I don't (knowingly) recommend expensive players as I know they will be out of our price range. And I am not playing fantasy manager - imagining Lawwell with a blank chequebook. I just try to find guys who would really add value to our squad, and I see quite a lot in the French/Belgian leagues. Bundesliga a few less (due to their price) but some great gems there too. I know nothing about brazilian football, and jack s*** about the EPL - but fishing in the english pond is a bit stupid IMO, due to high prices, and it looks like celtic feel the same. Strength, physicality, athleticism, and good technical grounding/ability. If I see any more, I'll keep the suggestions coming! (Mainly from France/Belgium). Thanks a lot for your kind words. Looks like Hull City are back in for Hooper for a reported £5m. My opinion is that if he wants to go we should take it and let him go. If Hull City is more appealing than possible Champions League and winning trophies then he belongs there. If he goes I say good luck and thanks for everything.

STOP PRESS: GUARANTEED TRUE : Lionel Messi was spotted outside Ibrox this morning. Turns out it was 1350 miles outside Ibrox. in Barcelona!

No issue with taking good money for Hooper but he's no intention of going to Hull or Norwich. PL is a shrewd operator and has seen Wanyama' s agent use the acceptance of Southamptons bid to try and leverage the club and get the big boys interested. I think if we accept a bid from Hull all it will do is drive down the price and tip the power in negotiations. No offence to Hull but Hooper' s ambitions and ability are bigger than that. Before anyone says England ambitions witness Rickie Lambert not get a sniff because he doesn't play for one of the big boys whilst he has at least double the ability of Donkey Carroll.

I got to meet Hooper in his home last year through a guy I know in work, he's mates with Lennon's agent and has been doing work for Hooper at his home and at Hoopers dad's over the last 2yr. I spoke to him last week and he said "Young Gary" wants to stay at least another year but wants a contract that puts him with the other high earners (Ledley, Sammy & Broonie). I asked what chance on him staying? was told 60/40 but its in the clubs hands.

Agree0 Disagree1

Why Buy the likes of GH and VW ok we sell them on and make money to pay the wages for the rest of palyers that is good, but come on take the 5 million and the 10/12 million and move them out, the teams they both going play for will and I will say again will win nothing, so why do that GH/VW you both may never be heard of again, money is what they are after that's all they want, its real name is GREED.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think people need to start watching Andy Carroll play Lambert or Hooper won't be able to lace his boots next season watch and learn the guys got a touch of class. {Ed007's Note - If he was any good would LFC be taking such a big hit in the pocket? It's because of BFS's hoof-ball tactics he is looking decent, it was the same boring, outdated long-ball game Dalglish tried to implement at his last laughable attempt at management. Thankfully football has moved on from most of these dinosaurs tactics and is becoming more enjoyable to watch in the process, with managers trying to play free-flowing, smooth passing football.}

Agree0 Disagree0

If you want to compare Hooper to Carroll look at 2009-10 when they both played in the Championship. Carroll played 39 and scored 17 whilst Hooper played 35 and scored 19. To put it in context Hooper's team Scunthorpe were relegated whilst Carroll's were champions. He'll always be an overpriced Donkey!

Rumour has it Norwich have agreed a deal for Hooper £5.mil, that's £3mil less than January, Brilliant bit of business that Mr Lennon {Ed007's Note - See when I say that football fans shouldn't worry about finances, this is why.}

Not sure how accurate this link is, but if Hooper leaves Celtic will consider Philipp Hosiner of Austria Wien as a possible replacement.

Believable9 Unbelievable13

Did Hosiner not just recently sign for Hoffinheim? {Ed007's Note - It' not finalised yet and might get messy.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks decent enough, would cost around 2m to 2.5m I would say. Gazdcelt {Ed007's Note - I would take that move in a heartbeat, Gaz. But he has said he wants a move to Hoffenheim in Germany.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully true, had a phenomenal season last year!

Agree0 Disagree0

Never heard of him but 32 goals in 36 games for his club is an impressive statistic.
And 2 international goals in 3 games is not bad either.
If/when Hooper goes I'm sure Lenny will have someone in mind. Apart from James McFadden! lol

Looks pretty decent from stats alone, is there much talk on this?

Tompo88

Article on the Austria Wien website (with help from google translate) says that talks with Hoffinheim have broke down, so could be true.

Hi ed, is ibrahima toure from monaco on his way to us on a loan deal?. I don't like bringing players in on loans to be honest, rather buy charlie austin or someone like that to replace hooper. Gazdcelt {Ed007's Note - Sounds like a load of rubbish to me.}

Celtic have apparently been offered striker Ibrahima Toure on loan from Monaco for next season.

The 27 year old 6ft 2" strikerhas scored 28 goals in 52 appearances for Monaco.

Would be rude not to take a look at the lad closer with that kind of record, albeit the French Ligue 2!

Sunderland lining up a move for Forster as a replacement for Mignolet.

Believable13 Unbelievable16

I read that too it also says that we would knock back any bid for the big chap

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would he go there when he's been brought up a Newcastle fan and still loves and supports Newcastle?

Bunny Munro.

Agree0 Disagree0

Awk c'mon do u actually see the guy wanting to leave? He has already stated he is ready for next season, and that european football is what he wants. won't get that in a sunderland shirt, not in my lifetime that's for sure!

Agree0 Disagree0

It says in the main rumours page that sunderland are lining up a 20 mill + triple swoop(vic, hoops, forster). can't see it maself. bhoywonder.

Agree0 Disagree0

Heard that the deal was a cash + player and that we were getting Mclean out of it, would personally take it and then get Given on the cheap.

Agree0 Disagree1

Why would they want Forster, they have a very good Irish keeper, and Givens doesn't do cheap, he's on £60,000 per week at Villa and Villa want him out, not on loan, they won't pay most of his wages,

Agree0 Disagree0

It says in the main rumours page that sunderland are lining up a 20 mill + triple swoop(vic, hoops, forster). can't see it maself. bhoywonder.

£12M + £5M + £8M = £25M not £20M.

Agree0 Disagree0

DiCanio has stated that Kieran Westwood will be No1 for next season. Can't see any move for big Forster

Agree0 Disagree0

Ross turnbull says his agent has spoken to Norwich and sunderland about a move so can't see forster going to sunderland if turnbull goes there
