Keane rules out Celtic return

REPUBLIC of Ireland striker Robbie Keane has ruled out a second spell at Celtic.

The LA Galaxy star said he has "probably played for enough clubs now" and is set to sign a new deal in the States.

Keane said: "(Celtic) was a good time for me. It was the right move. I haven't had the chance to go back. It was an incredible time, although some of the pitches weren't the best."

FORMER Rangers defender Craig Moore and ex-West Ham star Robbie Slater have both called for Celtic to loan out Australian defender Tomas Rogic in order to save his World Cup hopes.

Moore said: "Regular first-team football is a must for any player. That's why Tom Rogic needs to leave Celtic."

Slater added: "If he hasn't cracked Celtic's first team by Christmas, he needs to book the first flight out and find a club to throw him a shirt."

Not that I would give that animal Moore the time of day but there is an ongoing problem with Celtic, where apparently, gifted potential is stifled or discarded altogether before they get a chance.
Plucking a few out of the hat Koki Mizuno, Mark Crosas, Josh Thomson, the lad Ibrahim, Rasmussen, Ben Hutchison and now Rogic.
Obviously there are plenty more and a many, many of our own youth players like Graham Carey and Jim O'Brian who were raved about in the U21's and then sent packing.
We are wasting a lot of time, effort and money by failing to develop these guys properly.

I'm not a fan of Moore but he does have a point. Rogic came with great hopes (like many of the players we seem to sign) but has done little if anything since arriving. Maybe Lenny doesn't fancy his chances or maybe he can't settle, but whatever the reason may be it surely has to be time to give him a chance or let him go. It's not right to have him hanging about, or any of the other lads who are itching for a chance in the first team. If they're not up to standard then let them go and find a chance somewhere else.

Who decided he was a defender? The reporter (why run the story if ye can't find out he is a midfielder ) or the ex players who don't even no what position he plays( shows there really interested)

Hope the boy does leave in January as realistically he isn't going to get much game time at celtic and getting game time is the only thing that will improve him as a player. The same could be said for biton and mcgeouch and possibly Fischer once Mathews is back.

Stephen Pearson did a good run out for us whenever he got picked by Strachan. Lanarkshire lad, played for the shirt. Cherry picked from Motherwell where he did well but couldn't get a regular slot in first team.
We seem to get good prospects that don't develop with us. And agree with Ed, the youth don't develop with us either. Beginning to think we need a back room coaching improvement. Scouting can improve also.

JJ listed a few players there as if it was Celtics fault they didn't work out. Where are these guys now?

Not one of them is current playing at a standard you wouldve expect if they were at all talented. They didn't work out because they were not gpod enough. People talk about rabu ibrahim as if he was a super talent. They guy barely got a game at celtic so where did people witness this talent.

Did Celtic stifle, Wanyama, McGeady, Hooper?

This did happen I actually watched this conversation. And they are right!
Let the kid go, the guy is a freak and chose celtic over premier league clubs because he was told he would get a go.
I saw what he did to a game of football in 30 minutes the other night during australias international against Costa Rica. Rogic was putting himself on show for the world to see. IT WORKED, leave this stand alone club in an average competition and develop yourself because Celtic won't help you

I've literally not seen Rogic do a single thing in a Celtic jersey in the few starts and many subs appearances he has made to merit him a regular starting slot. He comes on and you think go on show us something and he makes wrong decisions with his passes, doesn't impose himself enough physically for a lad his size and looks too lackadaisical. He should have grabbed his chance by now but he hasn't. There is a place in that team for an attacking midfielder with an eye for a killer pass screaming to be snatched but he's blowing it and no matter how many ex Rangers players / Australians say Celtic are to blame it won't make it true. Tom Rogic is in control of his own destiny at Celtic. If he shows up well enough I'm training he gets a start or 20/30 minutes at the weekend and then he has to show what he's got. He's not doing either. Maybe he's listening to the hype from home and thinks he should be starting instead of working and proving himself worthy? I hope not.

The boy has talent, no doubt. But he can't play in any formation. 4-4-2 with a diamond midfield with Rogic in behind the front two and he's set. Give him protection and an out ball and he is brilliant. A wonder kid. I would seriously play him over and over starting against Milan.

DD, think that's the point the guy is making?! Where are they now? Where is Riordan, Killen et al? That's right, doing well for their former team before joining celtic. Stifled? One word for it. Problem is, a big squad cannot expose all players to 'their potential' depending on the managerial qualities, of course. One example, Ledley?

@ Stevensee88. Your comment about showing nothing is facinating. I watch every Celtic game, tell me when he has had more than 20 minutes? He gets a go in a team that's either winning 3 nil and the cue is in the rack or losing 3 nil and expect him change the game.
The club has a very poor history of managing young players and that is simply because the competition doesn't require celtic to change the team because its a one team league.
