Rafa still lives in Caldy, Merseyside. His family love it there and never moved up to Newcastle. Bit of pointless info. He told me a few years back that he got rid of Robbie Keane to Celtic because Jamie Redknap told him that his legs have gone. Would love to get Rafa to Celtic Park.

Robbie Keane came to Celtic from Spurs not Liverpool.

Get Van Gaal out of retirement.

{Ed007's Note - I've just finished reading this interview from Van Gaal https://goo.gl/9o1xNX and it shows again that the same long term problems at Utd are further up the tree than the manager's position. Remember I posted about what Utd's plans were and how it was the fan's pressure that forced them to change them and get rid of Van Gaal, forcing them to appoint Mourinho who didn't really want the job while there were members of Utd's board who didn't want to give him it as they felt he would always be more interested in Chelsea than Utd.}

Not for me I do t like his tactics, one up top.

Aye Ramsey he'd be good alright. Fantastic manager. He won the champions league with a Liverpool side that had no real right to win it.
Anyone who wouldn't have him is sniffing glue IMO.

Sorry iceman it all came about when Rafa asked me which team I followed and when I said Celtic he told he got rid of Keane before he was a Celtic player on the say so of Jamie Redknap. I thought it was Weird at the time, him being the Liverpool manager listening to a an ex players opinion. I knew he was at spurs after Liverpool.

Apart from winning La Liga twice with Valencia about 15 years ago and the english championship with Newcastle all he has won is cups. According to wikipedia he has less than a 50% win rate as a manager 550/ 1103. Coud he do a job for us, probably but hope not. For me Benitez has an EGO which makes the special one Mourinho look like St Francis of Asissi.

not for me - he lost the plot that year when Liverpool where top and fergie turned the heat up on him - mind his FACTS statement its up there way Keegan`s rant. :) good manager but again his time has been and went. think we need someone who can continue with a similar style of football played under Rodgers.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - What style was that,the monotonous slow passing about the back and lack of creativity & urgency or the getting pumped 5-0 at home (7-1 away) by PSG style?
Yeah we've been dominating the domestic game but over the last 18 months or so the actual football we've played has been a hard watch as we consistently struggle to break teams down and there's no way passing the ball around our own 18-yard box - I've seen us taking short corners and free-kicks around the opposition's box and the ball has ended up back at our GK - isn't going to fix that.}

Benitez hasn't won many leagues but he's not been in many jobs you would expect him too.

Valencia won them la Liga

Liverpool won everything except league but Ferguson was about at the time. One of the best managers ever.

Napoli he won their first cups in years and left them in a stronger position

Inter he didn't last but again Juventus has dominated that league for years

Real Madrid he didn't last but Barcelona have dominated higher profile managers than him there. They did go on and win the champions league.

Newcastle financially messed about for years. Gets them immediately back to the EPL and looks safe this year with a pretty poor squad.

Point being he's very rarely been in jobs you would expect him to dominate games except the real Madrid job. One of the most unforgiving jobs in football.

I doubt we'd take those sorts of humpings under Rafa. He can organise a defence and as a tactician can go toe to toe with anybody. He seriously has his hands tied at Newcastle and is doing as good a job as anybody would expect.

Donjim the list of honours u listed would look great on any managers cv mate. Rafa would be a top notch choice, he would be ma number 1 target if it was me that pulled the strings.

Don't think anyone can question Rafas credentials, he's top notch. Ashley is running the club into the ground worse than he is with Sevco. Yet Rafa is still grinding out the results. I'd love it if he was at the club but I don't think he will come to Scotland as he'll see it as too much of a step down. The facts speech was cringe but hilarious also. Can imagine him coming out with a facts speech about all refereeing decisions up here we don't get. Plus it'll keep a public interest up here with Rafa vs Slippy.
