I've seen a lot of talk recently about what we will do when wanyama leaves, personally I do not think its plausible to look for a direct replacement as I think we have a player that can shine in his absence. Personally I think Kayal will thrive when he gets a consistent run of games, lately his performances have improved greatly and I think next season will cement the position for his own.

Believable9 Unbelievable6

Need to disagree with you junglebhoy33, I think kayal looks a shadow of the player we seen in his first year at the club, anytime I've seen him over the last few months I think he's been below par, wanyamas shoes/boots will be big ones to fill, in my opinion far to big for kayal, personally I would try and move him on. Agree2 Disagree0

I agree, kayal will get a lot more time and be good but he also gets hurt and can get the dumb card in games but I expect him to up his game. Saying that we will no doubt try and find a gem in mid and bring them along slowly like was the plan with wanyama, but he was too good to hold back.
Think we are going to try and make our mid with top talent like barca does, which is the strongest part of our club and where clubs would want our mid. We are going to try and keep pumping our mid with some great young talent so that if one is sold the replacement is already in place

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with Ian. I don't think Kayal could ever fill Wanyama'a boots. I hope I am wrong because I doubt the Board will splash on a player of Wanyama's calibre.

I agree he's not the same player he was and Lennon doesn't seem to trust him in the big games now! he's not commanding enough for me he runs about like a headless chicken at times! Wanyama is a rare breed we found a real gem there he has all the attributes to be a world class player! My only hope is we hold out for big money for him if Liverpool paid 15 million for Allan from Swansea he is not even close to the Player Wanyama is! And Could be!

I do like Kayal but this season, it seems like he's been trying too hard. Too much pointless running around and shouting a the ref. He almost reminds me of the first few years of Scott Brown.
He is a talented player who needs some coaching, needs to calm down, not try to do too much and he really needs to move into a more defensive midfield role, which is his natural position. We've all seen his attempts on goal and they are all awful.

I too disagree with the original post. Although I used to love Kayal as a player, I was very disappointed (although not surprised) that when he played a few good games he instructed a 'super agent' to find him a club down south, preferably Man United. Now, having seen Kayal's performances this year, I agree with the poster that says we should move him on. We need new players that will give us a bit of energy and enthusiasm and Kayal is not the man to do this. Like a lot of our current players, he just does not look interested. AND PLEASE LENNY NO N'GUEMO!!

Agree1 Disagree0

Ledley should be the main man in our midfield and I think he will be. Partnered with Brown for the next year and then hopefully one of the youngers can come in next to him eventually. Reckon next season we could well see the whole team working around Ledley if we hold onto him. Daviebhoy77

Agree0 Disagree0

Kayal is a headless chicken and far too injury prone, and he can't last 90 minutes, he won't fill Wanyama's boots.

Agree1 Disagree0

Kayal believes all the hype that's been in the papers about him being a good player. He now has his feet under the table at Celtic park and imo is happy to sit there picking up a decent wage, probably the best he's ever had. Good games are a distant memory from him and I think if anything over £2m came in we should take it.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Kayal is very skill-full and looked a great prospect in his first season - and was touted by bigger clubs apparently?
But he was never the same after his first long injury and like Brown misses a lot of games a season. He is not the bravest and
he is always the first to get hooked.
Lastly; unlike Wanyama, he lacks goals.

Agree0 Disagree0

The price tag set for Wanyama should certainly assure Neil Lennon that he can go out and buy a replacement and try to improve the team with a profit for the board too. Asier Illarramendi, Jordy Clasie, Youssuf Mulumbu, Idrissa Gueye, Benjamin Stanbouli, Joshua Guilavogui, Ignacio Camacho, Victor Perez and Vincent Pajot are who I would like to replace Wanyama. No idea how much any of them would cost.

Agree0 Disagree0

@Daviebhoy77 what would happen to brown when the youngster comes in to play with ledley next year?

To last post, too much computer games for you wee man,. ,. kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

@kevb: I would love for Brown to keep going but we may find this injury will cut him short. Hopefully not as Brown sitting and Ledley in CAM would be tidy. We always hear about Joe L as the unsung hero and the great utility man. While that's true, the CAM role that he played at Cardiff is where he really shines and we've not really given him that gig yet. Brown cutting things up and Ledley supporting the front men is the way forward. Daviebhoy77

Agree0 Disagree0

Kbarry,

i don't play computer games that much to be fair, I probably do watch too many football highlight shows though. those players are highly rated youngsters in good leagues who I have been impressed with, and who I think would bee good replacements for wanyama in terms of quality and financial movement, that is all. apologies if they seem to far fetched or nameless to you.

Aston villa reportedly weighing up an 8m offer for Hooper, year left on his contract but I know we won't get any more than 6m.
I would let him go tbh, and bring in someone for less who has the potential to be even better.
We, ll still have stokes samaras watt and lassad but we definetely need a replacement if he does. I can see Forster staying with us for another year, but it looks likely wanyama will be heading to old Trafford or the emirates for 10m.
That would leave us with 15-16m on top of cl money so there's no reason not to spend a good bit.
What players would you guys have to replace them? And how much? (realistic)

Out: wanyama, Hooper, Miku, mcCourt, rogne.
In: doyle-Rhodes?, brede hangeland out of contract?

Believable2 Unbelievable8

I would like to see Rhodes come in if Hooper goes. Rhodes is a big Celtic fan and would do the job for us. However, I do think we need to stand firm on Wanyamas valuation. This boy is destined to play at the very top level. We know teams like Manchester United and arsenal have surplus resources. We should be looking to get at least £15M for him and we shouldn't accept any less.

Agree0 Disagree0

There is no way we sell wanyama for 10mill! The board has shown they will get what they want and for this plan as ajax to work we must eliminate this 10mill cap for spl players. 15mill is the least I would expect him to go for with a sell on anything less and it is just dumb and bad buisness. We must make a stand to progress and become a bigger better club, would you have sold Larsson for 10mill? That's how valuable wanyama is to us and if Mcgeady went for 10 then wanyama is double that for he is a lot better with more up side. He is a true talent and will be a super star so we must treat the transfer as a player who is

Agree1 Disagree0

Celtic are in a strong position with Vic as his contract is not ending and as far as I know he is not desperate (like Hooper) to go?
I agree we are always the poor relations when it comes to UK transfers so I would hope a big European club will come in with a realistic offer and scunner the EPL crooks.

Jungle Jim

Agree0 Disagree0

You say realistic then you say rhodes who justed sign for rovers for like £8million, they will now be wanting atleast £10million. I for one would not spend that much on him ever. you can buy 3 great players from forgein leagues for that much {Ed007's Note - Jordan Rhodes has never, and now looks like he never will, cost Blackburn £8 million. Football fans just see a number being mentioned and pounce on it. Over 99% of football fans do not understand the financial side of the game and have no idea how transfers are structured.}

Agree1 Disagree0

@2) A better way of putting it would be if Hutton was sold for 9million and Jordan Henderson and Downing went for both individually over 15 million each that should help people understand where Wanyama is in term of his value. 10 million would be a joke in today's market, he's worth way more.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rhodes looks like a really good striker, would take him in a heartbeat, hope blackburn go down, will make it easier to get him. Ian L

Think Daniel Ayala would be worth a shot, Hanley has been linked with Everton and Manchester United so I doubt we'll be getting him
