Santa Cruz just signed for betis on a loan deal so there's another kid on target off our long list

Believable4 Unbelievable0

How do you know we were after him? because one wee s**tey paper reported it?. hes pish anyway had one good season in his career

Agree0 Disagree0

Not that i think we'll get Santa Cruz but it only says on wiki that he has signed for Betis. Wud never take anything from there as fact coz any1 can change it. Nothin anywhere about him signing for Betis.

If Celtic get through now on the technicality, do we even get the money that we would have got for a win?
Aussie Liam {Ed007's Note - Sorry Liam, that I don't know for certain. It would still be classed as qualification maybe.}

From the moment Lenny was given the job I said it was either get rid of samaras or he will cost him his job and It looks to me like his faith in samaras has cost him big time.

jamie

Believable9 Unbelievable1

Samaras was one of our only players who was positive. he won most of his headers and looked to go forward, give him a break.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes Sammi conceded a penalty, got set of and gave away the second and third goals as well Unbelievable

David

Agree0 Disagree0

It's always Sami's fault. If you can't make a balanced analysis of a game then at least try and show some imagination in pointing the finger. The 10 men put up a good fight after the 1st minute disaster. Majstorovic was always an accident witing to happen, all of the blame should be placed on him. He should now be shown the door.

Surely Wilson and Mulgrew is the best defensive option?

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a combination of things for me

Poor players (we all know who they are)
A niaeve manager. (the board appointed him).

The real issue is here is the board and here is the problem. They keep telling us the club must be run within its budget and we cant get in to debt, but if they are running things as a business then all businesses have to go forward and invest to progress otherwise the regress. We as a club are regressing through complacency and more worryingly a complete lack of investment. If we had spent £10 million this year, we would have made the Europa league stages and recouped that money and with that investment would probably bring the league back. That would mean we get straight in to the CL recouping our investment with money left over for reinvesting.

The fans are being made a fool of and their loyalty being exploited to the full. We have two shareholders who are near off billionaires who are penny pinching. I have to question why they are there in the first place if they wont put their ££ where their mouth is. The only way this will change is if the fans vote with their feet and stop turning up. Before I get any comments of "call yourself a fan, etc etc" as a season ticket holder, yes I do and our actions will speak volumes. Enough is enough.

Can't believe my ears, just heard after match press conference with Lenny. He states we were fantastic tonight and were unlucky and was very pleased with performance.
I'm sorry Lenny, but that tonight was total tosh, not acceptable for my beloved Celtic. If you think that's acceptable then says a lot for remainder of season. The only guy with pass marks was Kayal.
We are seriously lacking an out and out physical striker and someone to partner k Wilson in defence, Big Dan can keep walking, don't come back.
If there's no transfer business before window, we are in serious trouble. Success starts on the park, get ure fecking finger out Lawwell/Desmond, failure to invest has cost us greatly over the years, don't fall into the same trap again.

Paulo67

Believable12 Unbelievable1

Is Lennon off his head? It IS humiliating It's cringeworthy This Celtic team needs to improve drastically and new players need brought in. Several players also need shown the door
I've supported Lenny 100% but to say the team played well is total crap. As for hoping that sion get carpeted by the powers that be, embarassing. The better team won on the night.
I'm sick to my stomach man. Rant over.

Agree0 Disagree0

Need to sort this team out now do no wait till January, Sammy, Big Dan must go now and try and bring in c/half L/back and someone who can help Hooper up front, I think the board Will take the easy way out and sell Kayal and balance the books

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats the worst i have ever seen kayal, after 2-1 the subs should have been on lenny has a lot to learn

Agree0 Disagree0

I totally agree with the original post, 100% spot on. Lennons faith in Sammy and Dan could cost him dear but not nearly as much as it will cost him if he continues to treat the fans with contempt and keep spouting such rubbish.

On another perspective i and i'm sure many others are feeling the financial pinch. i couldn't go to the game last night but i've been to every other game and to be quite honest i'm finding it quite tough to continue forking out the vast amounts of money it costs to go to games to watch us deliver pure and utter garbage against Sion and St Johnstone.

Pay up and give us the team we deserve or run the risk of hard up supporters saving there money for other and i dare say more essential things than watching second rate football on a regular basis

Game was lost in the third minute. Ten against eleven Celtic did well, but not well enough.

I really don't know if Lenny has chucked it, he reckons we were brilliant tonight, and he can't fault the players. Get a ******* grip Neil, drop the guys who have let everyone down, or you will get sacked.
Paddybhoy

Believable11 Unbelievable1

The sooner lenny realises that the guys he praised after tonites shambolic excuse of a performance are the same guys who will end up getting him the sack,looked no better than a pub side tonite,very poor team selection and substitutions also never helped,big danny gets worse with each passing game,said weeks ago we urgently need players.3 new players added and only 1 is not a bit part player,wernt good enough last season so what made us think 1 regular signing would really change anything? too busy once again looking over at the govan hovel rather than adding quality to our squad,penny pinching and a lack of ambition from the board once again.when are we gonna learn from the last 3 years mistakes?basherbhoy {Ed007's Note - Since I started doing this I have said that Majstorovic was nowhere near good enough to play for CFC. He always flatters to deceive, he looks like a 'monster' but doesn't play like one.}

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2011 23:23:05
Hi ed,do you no how much money it would have been worth tonight if we had got through to the group stages ? And why the board don't invest in the team so we can at least make a go of it in Europe where the prize money is obviously greater than in Scotland... {Ed007's Note - As far as I can see the money on offer is this (it is in Euros and a cut and paste from something I have on file), it does not contain any TV money, this is from UEFA:

1st qualifying round: €90,000
2nd qualifying round: €90,000
3rd qualifying round: €90,000
Playoffs: €90,000
Group stage: €1,000,000
Group match victory: €120,000
Group match draw: €60,000
1st knock out round: €180,000
2nd knock out round: €270,000
Quarter-finals: €360,000
Semi-finals: €630,000
Losing Finalist: €2,000,000
Winning the Final: €3,000,000

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Ok you get your million for entry, but some of these "prizes" for games wouldn't even cover appearance fees, i.e. it's in fact COSTING clubs to play a game in the Europa league, especially for the bigger clubs like Spurs.

The Europa league should give more money and take it from the CL. For a lot of the clubs in it they're not spending 10 and 20M+ on players.

The bottom line is this is the boards fault, for to long they hav only been interested in their friggin balance sheets. For a couple of years now they hav been responsible for losing us maybe a reputed 35 million in european money because of the lack of investment, time to go and give to somone who really cares about the football team and more importantly the best fans in the world,

Should be an interesting few days of the transfer market left. If the board cannot see the glaringly obvious frailties of this team (i.e another centre back and striker) then I fear the worst. A lack of quality, desire, guile and passion. I want to believe.......help my disbelief.

First of all not seeing the same game that the special one saw tonite "the team were brilliant", what game was NL watching??
I hope now that it sinks in to the upper tier that due to pettiness we're again embarrassed in europe n seriously questioned in the spl.
By that I mean the poor, cheap decision to appoint NL and subsequently spend zero on a team.
I guess to the board it dont matter cause we've all paid for a season tic again
For all the NL fanatics, get a grip n forget the "bullets" the man has delivered hee haw, a scottish cup against a crap rangers - big deal.
this is a toal joke n I hope that desmond n all lap up their luv of p&ls cause the team on the park is a joke n I for one aint going back for a while.
It costs me approx £75 per game, sometmes 3 times that per week. no more

Believable6 Unbelievable4

Time for lennon to go it's great having him in the dugout but time he was back in the stands go for allerdyce {Ed007's Note - Sam Allardyce?? No thanks, his style of football would bore you to tears, gates would fall drastically.}

25 Aug 2011 22:32:14
Daniel Majstorovic should never play for Celtic again. Sent off after 40 secs for firstly gettin caught under a long ball once again then making a tackle in the area that he didnt have to make. Them scoring first made absolutley no difference to the game. Let the guy go, Forster mite make the save but if he doesn't we still only need 1 goal and we still have 11 men. This is supposed to be the most experienced player in our team. Utterly shocking Less said about Ki for the 3rd goal the better i think.

Samaras must be laughing all the way to the bank. 3 years of £20k per week for scoring 2 goals against the manky mob. that seems like money well invested, yet they wont spend a few extra quid and get the goal keeper they want - polish lad went to genk, the striker they want - husklepp, chased him for 2 years and wont spend extra 500k to get him and a half decent centre half. Shoot sammy, Claim the life insurance, save the wages and buy someone half decent. Dermot desmond should be ashamed of himself and his ridiculous fu***ng mousser

Whoever wins the league this year should enjoy it because after next season will be the last we will see a scottish team in the champs league ever. Our game is in serious decline. Soon there wont be even a qualifying champs league place up for grabs and we will be in the same scenario as Fulham were this year. 3 europa league qualifiers with the difference being we wont get there. Very concerned.

Drew

Believable3 Unbelievable0

The winner of the spl doesnt go straight into group stages.

I'm fed up being so dissapointed in these important matches we never seem to be able to turn up and how the hell Scott brown is captain I don't know he runs round like a headless chicken can't pass and always looking for a crunching tackle that he gets booked for Lenny has to look at this sqaud Theres a few players believing there own hype from last season totally shocked and disgusted

Jock Stein once said "Celtic jerseys are not for second best, they don't shrink to fit inferior players" never has this been so true It used to be an honour to wear a Celtic Strip now any old piece of S**t gets to wear one

Gazcfc21

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Agree witht he sentiment but clearly it has never been so false. Sadly the strips have shrunk to fit inferior players with an inferior attitude. We've been buying crap for years now and the board must take a lot of the blame. But so too must lennon and the players (we were great tonight apparently, eh?). Shamrock Rovers beat Partizan away tonight to go through. Do you think we could do this? Do they have a bigger budget? We are rotten at the core. Our board have continually downsized whilst meddling in transfers and bragged about it whilst our players have no heart (and little ability). Little has come out of our target driven you policy (we've loads of players at U19 level don't you know, pity nobody ever emerges). The end is in sight folks unless theres a clearout Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe the reason the young players dont get a chance is because of the pressure to win every week last wednesday everyone was happy the way things were going and now three games later eveyone is to be sacked get a grip

25 Aug 2011 22:16:08
I actually hope sion don't get kicked out of europe, because we are an embarrassment. How many years have we watched centre halfs make a fool of us (balde, tebilly, caldwell, mcmanus, the list goes on. Lenny will get himself sacked for sticking with clowns who let him down time after time (Sammy, maloney, etc) . I really feel sorry for the poor fans who follow us to all those away games, and spend their hard earned dosh to watch these prima donas.

paddybhoy

Believable9 Unbelievable0

So true Paddy i posted earlier about never seen a worse centre half in the hoops than dan , but you mentioned Tebilly who got me thinking , but reckon dan still takes it, and as for the lads that travelled to game tonight heart sorry for them, they dinnae deserve to watch pish like that especially when it was 70 quid for a ticket

if lennon stays we will lose the league, get him out now and get some1 in who can win. we have a good side and with a manager who knws wit hes doing we will win easily, cos them over the road are bad aswell.

Believable6 Unbelievable5

Are you have a laugh there ya tit a bit of a bad spell n your calling for his head? what happened to "we are all neil lennon" plus we're only 4 games into the spl season for god sake, it will get better just need to get out of this slump and then the spl trophy will be back where it belongs in the parkhead trophy room, god bless neil lennon

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye mate am calling for his head, he hasnt got a clue, wit good has he done for celtic please get back and tell me, i just want a winning celtic team, we have a good team and with a good manager we will win the league but with lennon we will not

Agree0 Disagree0

Seriously do u know what ur talkin about fs neil lennon has helped the club since mowbray left. did u want him sacked last year when he at least won a trophy. ur part of the manky mob if u think he should be sacked

Agree0 Disagree0

What good has he done for celtic? hes brought the passion back to the fans after the disaster that was mowbary, yae cant be calling for his head when he's lost 2 games this season for god sake there still a long way tae go this season give the team time to settle sake, fair does it was 2 games we should never have lost but yae cant blame lennon for that christ sake its the players on the park need tae perform

I cant think of a worse centre half to play for the hoops and i'm 44 ,feel sorry for big Wilson got to play beside that dumpling. Get him out

What a depressing night for Scottish football tonight i feel totaly gutted. Both old firm fans should unite and brotest out side ibrox and Park head and demand answers and inverstment that we deserve. As a Rangers fan I hope celtic win thier case against Sion and you stay in Europ for all our sake and for some scottish pride.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Thanks mate. I and every other decent Celtic fan are grateful for your comment. I hope they get kicked out too. It was the banned players that scored. Scottish footbal RIP. And sadly, the only way is down Bhoys and Ghirls. As I said a couple of days ago, Scottish football needs some serious investment very soon or we will be having to go through all qualifiers like the Irish/Welsh teams. And don't blame Lenny, It's not his fault he doesn't have the money to compete. 3 Scottish teams all out. 1 word. Gutted
Ben Bhoy 1916

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Lennon dosent hav the money to compete, dae u think sion or maribor have got money tae compete,no dont think so

only 1s with pass marks 2nyt were forster,k.wilson and cha the rest were very poor.and can somebody tell me whats scott browns job on the pitch,is it jst to start fights bcoz he cant pass, tackle, score, assis

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Forster pass marks...really after losing 3 goals, we really are in a bad state.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your spot on mate, what does Brown do?
It was his poor control from a simple Hooper pass that let us get caught out in the first minute. You can't be doing things like that when you have guys like Majstorovic at the back. Makes you wonder about a manager who continues to put so much faith in him. Never a Celtic captain

Agree0 Disagree0

Big mulgrew also tonight did well am his bigest critic but he stood up samaras has got ot be hunted.Brown does not have a brain. Not a Celtic captain turns his back on ball

Agree0 Disagree0

Right seriously, big Sammy done everything he could tonight won the majority of headers and was the only one who would turn round and have a run at them, we are a negative team and the first thought in most of the players minds is to pass the ball backwards, or give someone a terrible pass do 'I dont lose it'. Lay off Samaras, he needs a team around him, he has been the scapegoat for far too long

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2011 21:48:20
I honestly think we could of held out for Kuszack. We have the money but no backing..Instead they panic'd and brought in forster? Look what putting "faith" into forster has got us now..

Believable0 Unbelievable5

What has forster got to do wth the defeat, he wast at fault for any of te goals andactualy had a decent game individually

Agree0 Disagree0

Kuszack is absolutely rank rotten he was so bad in the games he played for man utd not 1 of the defenders trusted him they were scared to give him a back pass So get over kuszack cause he is rubbish

Agree0 Disagree0

What did Forster do wrong ya numpty. First goal Brown / Mas to blame. Second goal ma gran with her zimmer could have closed it down. Third goal a Ki howler. Lennon has to shoulder a lot of responsibility, firstly for playing the Greek t**t (lazy, not interested, never shut down a player n should b ashamed of himself) and secondly for not having the guile or balls to change it. 10 v 11 and with decent players on the bench. AH great idea lets put Commons on with 3 mins to go. In Lennon I doubt

P1ssed off season ticket holder.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im sorry but forster had a cracking game and if it hadnt off been for him that would have been a far worse defeat. we have to keep the faith and hope for better things the players from last arent fit to wear the jersey

Agree0 Disagree0

Kuszack is an idiot, hes made blunder after blunder for united and he isn't even their 2nd choice now, we are in the state were in just now because of diddys like him

Agree0 Disagree0

TRUE but the celtic sb holders deserve better than the kelly era {Ed007's Note - I know that mate, I was there during those days. When you are at rock bottom (Scottish football) the only way is up. Remember when the ITV deal with the Championship collapsed in 2002? English football was on it's knees outwith the EPL, and look how they bounced back. ok guys we were beaten tonight but i have to give praise to lenny and the boys...10 men after 45 secs and 1-0 down we tried our hearts out tonight and anybody who thinks otherwise is deluded we all know sammy and danny are liabilities but the actions of the first 5 mins restricted us straight away ....and if eufa do rule in our favour i would bite their hand of for another shot.
we must bring in another 1 or 2 good players or the board have a lot to answer for
in lennon i trust

Believable6 Unbelievable9

Your kidden yourself on m8 in lennon u trust aye right

Agree0 Disagree0

Honestly what game did u watch.if thats acceptable to you then ur very much deluded

Agree0 Disagree0

I am with you mate. How can we expect to do anything when that big t**t gets himself sent off in the first minute. He should take the flack. If they do not get chucked out then UEFA should hang their heads. I think another team is through to this round (on a bye) for similar reasons. UEFA quite clearly held back on the decision hoping we would win and make it easy for them. No they should do the hard (and right thing) and chuck them out. They are sticking 2 fingers right up and laughing

Aye right mate . Every Celtic fan knows big Dan has never been good enough but starts each game , 3 Centre halfs when since Lennon took over have we played that system ? But he sees fit to play it when we have to win . Did u not say to urself about 60 mins that we should change it ? My full house did . And when we score did you not think of fresh legs ? My full house did but our manager did . He is persisting with the same gutless guys that will get him the bullet . Why play guys in Europe , drop them for Sunday and bring them back in ? Clueless . It's like watching Mowbray all over .

Agree0 Disagree0

Get a grip mate lennon is a joke hes hasnt got a clue, a sht rangers team beat us to the league, we have a good side but lennon doesnt knw how to turn them into winners

Agree0 Disagree0

R u serious....once again when plan A doesnt work we have no plan B. i like lenny and am willin to give hime time but once again he froze and didnt no how to change things. commons on wi 3 minutes to go?? mcourt not used?? he needs experiance behind him and shouldnt be given a choice in the matter.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair one but i didnt hear anyone shouting for his head last season i love my team i was there in 94 and watched rangers dominate us for 9 long years lennon must stay a few bad results but if we bring in 1 or 2 players and get rid of 1 or 2we will come good again celtic always

chalkybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

How the hell can we trust lennon he keeps playing that donkey mastoravitch we will never win the league as long as he is playing for us

Agree0 Disagree0

"but i have to give praise to lenny and the boys" away ye go , samaras starting? not a sub made till the 70th minute? commons on with 3 minutes to go? your delusional.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers dominated us for nine years with a great team, last seasons exit was his first...give him a break, then the league...gave a break but this is a new season we cant wait till NL is ready to be a manager we are loseing games NOW. Not playing the entire game with a single winger is a joke

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2011 21:40:28
Get Lennon Out Now. He Left Out Our Top Scorer (Stokes) In A Game We Had To Score In =S. His Decisions Too Make Subs Are Shocking Aswell. Get Craig Levein As The New Manager. He Has Worked Under Pish Transfer Condisions In The Past At Hearts And Dundee United And Did Very Well

Believable7 Unbelievable8

I agree mate lennon is not the guy to take us forward, we were rubbish last season and only started playing well in jan wen we beat rangers at ibrox, and we lost the league, rangers are terrible, we have a good team but lennon cant do anything with them.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2011 21:40:14
i know we r all hurting but it is down to the board not making money available. neil lennon prob has a list of targets the length of his arm but ther is no money available. as usual we r let down by players that shouldnt be anywhere near our club. I agree that no european football for 2 years running is unacceptable for a club our size but lets hope that we can get a few good players in and focus on stopping 4 in a row. Keep the chin up

Gutted. Very simple Lennon must win the league. We must begin on Sunday and it's our responsibility to support the team with everything starting at St Mirren. We need another striker and poss CB because Dan is done. It's a straight fight for the title bhoys and ghirls let's get up for it....

25 Aug 2011 21:38:02
one last post before i hit the bevy, Celtic
please do not appeal and embarass yourself
further, take it on the chin and deal with it
in house, get it sorted NOW - Swiss Tim about
to go on the swally big time, and so glad Im not in Scotland, the press will have a field day tomorrow {Ed007's Note - It has nothing to do with CFC appealing, this was a problem for Sion even before the Europa League draw was made.}

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Cant be bothered with the holier than thou non appeal crap. If we go through theres a few milliion at stake. Invested wisely then the league follows. CL money next year gives us yet more money. Thats how we improve. oh yes, and theres the coefficient. We are rubblish and on the basis of football deserved to go out. Nevertheless the other mob cheated and for that alone deserve to get booted out. I'd take it any day

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2011 21:37:54
what do you say about that then guys.?i dont think we,re ever gonna see a celtic team win away in europe.that was abysmal.we should be too embarassed to accept a back door entry if uefa hand us one.we are absolute dross.who,d have believed after last weeks results, that hearts would get the best result of the spl teams tonight?i dont know where we go from here.i really dont.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I am a Rangers fan thought I would pop in hear to see what you guys had to say and it is similar to the rangers site. Scottish football is rotten, imagine what Sion, Maribor, Unirea etc would do to other teams out with the old firm..does not bear thinking about that is how far we have sunk Ah well it will all be forgotten come next old firm game eh Good luck guys..

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Rangers fan Neither of us have any money to spend and kid ourselves when we win at the weekend against other poor oppostion. Good luck to you too

Agree0 Disagree0

Lost to 2 pub teams in 5 days whats happening to out beloved hoops?? we need to spend on a striker cb and midfielder if were gonna win the league... 2 shots at goal the night tells a crap story......

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2011 21:37:07
Ed, if Sion get kicked out can Celtic decline the offer to go through? Because it would be a huge injustice if we got in after tonight. I would be very disappointed to see Celtic in the groups now. They simply don't deserve it.
Kevbhoy {Ed007's Note - They probably could Kev, but I seriously doubt they would, it would cast a cloud over it IMO that we needed their expulsion to progress, poor poor show tonight.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I would honestly be embarrassed if we get through and I don't think it would sit right with Lenny or Mjallby etc who are very proud men. They want to go through on merit an so do the fans

ive never said a bad word bout lennon but where were the changes tonight how can stokes mccourt and commons sit on the bench when were chasing a game and on top of that samaras can shady his way through a game with little or no effort at times im beyond annoyed il support my team through good times and bad but when lennons bringin the trouble and the criticism on himself its hard too stick up for him.... i hope this doesnt mean theres no budget for new signins or we may as well hand the title over too the forces of darkness right now if were lookin for players within a tight budget why arent we lookin at jamie murphy le fondre or paul dixon there the problem areas right now and mayby zaliukas or ashley williams at centre back i know they dont make u sweat with excitement but theyd be practical signings that would improve our squad and wouldnt break the bank any thought ed ?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Stokes commons and mcourt played on sunday and we needed a goal did it come ? no so why slate why they didnt play?? the team just wasnt good enough tonight. we need to spend on a striker cb and midfielder if were gonna win the league

Agree0 Disagree0

Because there goalscorers and if they cant play two games in a week whats the point in chasing european football if u need a goal ur top goalscorer cant not get on the park it doesnt make sense and as for playin samaras out of position on the left and ignoring commons thats worse

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2011 21:32:38
well where do we start, Im not coming on here
slating various players, we all know who they are
but how many times was it 2 v 2 at the back
with the full backs attacking, when will we ever
learn you need to defend as a back 4 in Europe
its not the SPL with full backs flying forward
lennon needs to take the flack for this big time,
only saving grace is the huns went out also
i reckon this is up there with Artmedia, very
average team, yet we couldnt get a shot on target
from open play, says it all, pig sick, but i suppose
we expect it now, really feel sorry for the troops
who travelled, living and working out here.

that was very poor.ok we went to ten men after 60 sec but the team just didnt look interested, we looked as if we where winning no bother instead of being absolutely slaughtered.this board need to take a long look at themselfs because we have yet again not spent any money (well 900k) and only 500grand in debt this is just not good enough and its time we all told them so.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

When the manager spend 1.1mil on a player with Murphys record, gives players like Samaras a new deal & makes Scott Brown captain, is it any wonder he isn't getting millions to spend ?

well only 1 word can describe it tonight Pish who exactly would want to join us after that, Lenny now has to dig very very deep and produce something i want to know who yet again packed the self destruct botton it's like dejavu from last year in Europe, Ed i really hope you get some concrete news for us otherwise it'd going to be a shambles this season.(i'm always 100% behing the team but this is a big big knock) {Ed007's Note - Sorry I have nothing concrete to report, glaringly obvious what we need though. Hopefully any deals in the pipeline will be pushed through now.}

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Now do we have to pray that the powers that be decide to kick them out of Europe BUT would you really want to get back into Europe and watch us play like that again and again,

Agree0 Disagree0

Sion were banned from signing players for two transfer periods, starting with the 2010/11 season, after Fifa ruled it had been guilty of inducing Egypt goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary to break his contract with Cairo-based club Al Ahli in 2008.

This is clear as day that the players were signed within the period of the transfer ban, so under ruling they fielded the players and should get f***ed out of the Europa league, do Celtic deserve it do we f*** but I will take it and if Celtic don't invest in this team, I will not be buying another season ticket, eurpeon ticket, football top not a f***ing thing, and for the tit maj get him out a Celtic shirt n sell him off total tit.

Forster couldn't have done a thing for the goals at all.

Cumby Bhoy

Ps do u think we looked like a team that didn't give a f*** what the score was, as if they thought sion are going to get chucked out

Agree0 Disagree0

I could pick any player tonight who played for the jersey christ i'm near 40 and would have run myself ragged for the cause tonight, money needs to be spent now ,i know this might seem as panic but i'm sure everyone would agree that we've done nothing since we beat Dundee Utd how many times can you say we've not won a game in the last 3 and only scored 1 goal

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2011 21:21:19
Hey Ed, how are you?

Not a good result but if UEFA do what they said they will we will be in the groups anyway (not the best way to do it though). Was Forster to blame for any of the goals? Not really NL fault that Maj is a t*t. {Ed007's Note -Do we really want to go through in that way?}

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Yeah, I know it is not an ideal way to go through - and we probably would not go any further but there is no way SION should get off scott free. Do you think if we (or Rangers for that matter) stuck 2 fingers up to UEFA and played ineligible players we would get off - now way Thanks Ed.

S {Ed007's Note - It will be interesting to see what the outcome of it all is.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Get real Lennon picked him and hes been absolute stinkin since hes been here

Agree0 Disagree0

If sion get thrown out it should go to next highest co effecient, celtic were well beaten

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course it should not go to the next highest co efficent. It should obviously go to the team who were "prejudiced" by Sion playing players who were ineligible. Given that all 3 of the goals were scored by ineligible players I think we have a good argument. WE night not have if they did not score.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2011 21:19:38
No other way to describe it than an absolute disgrace. Another pathetic performance by a bunch of players who show absolutely no heart or desire. Lenny will get torn up for arse paper in the press tomorrow but tbh what can he do when we're giving away first minute penalties and setting up another on a plate. Quality needed ASAP. We NEED to win the league this year. End of. We need automatic qualification because we'll have nothing otherwise. Can't deal with the pressure. I'm a faithful Celtic fan and will continue supporting my team but at this moment in time I'm furious and disgusted

Everyone seems to write in Lennon we trust.
Well after that rubbish I have seen tonight,
I trust that Lennon will walk away.
I think that he is naive in the extreme.
I know we had a man sent off early, but by playing the big man after his performance last Sunday, that is naive, because big Maj is crap.
We may have no debt but we also have no class.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

25 Aug 2011 21:15:38
3 or 4 times lenny had the chance to change it tonight when we were still in or getting ourself back into the game.they scored their second and it took us ten minutes to make a change. sometimes feel we are the hardest team in the world to support.

Believable9 Unbelievable1

25 Aug 2011 21:14:34
hope lennon takes a look at himself now after putting faith in that big diddy keeper, majstorivic and more importantly samaras. Why are we worse than last year, why have we only invested 900k in players and why are we playing players that have repeatedly failed to step up.

Anyone heard how we are going to appeal this tommorow? Will we get through on technicality? How could Uefa gove Paris SG a bye in this round as the team they played were in same situation as sion? Also, how could the disciplinary commitee meet to give a ruling on Arsene Wenger and Bocanegra this week, and not sort out Sion? Will we even launch an appeal?

Whole board, management team and players need to take a look at themselves

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I donot think we have to appeal. It is UEFA and FIFA who have mad the decision and will rule on it. The guy that scored the first two goals is one of the ineligable players - surely they mnust be kicked out

Agree0 Disagree0

First of all you stated about sacking lennon then bring in the argument about money which is a board problem not lennon's so who are you blaming lennon or money ,and like all season ticket holders i pay my money aswell i just think it's a bit early too be asking for lennon's head ,sure while watching a game we are all the best managers in the world and like all fans decisions by managers including saint martin annoy us but it's too early to panic.

Will sion be chucked out the Europa league??? {Ed007's Note - I think the hearing is tomorrow.}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Ed you did not say yes or no there did they break the rules if so what would there punishment be {Ed007's Note - What Sion have done is a serious breach of FIFA/UEFA statures (laws), CFC don't need to lodge any form of appeal that I am aware of. Sion knew the consequences of fielding any of the ineligible players. It actually breaks FIFA/UEFA stature to take them to a court of law also, which they do not like as it is seen as undermining their authority. The Swiss FA fell in line with the court ruling although FIFA/UEFA did not. If FIFA/UEFA stick to their own laws then Sion should be expelled from the competition and there will be serious repercussions for Sion and the Swiss FA.}

I was doubting Lennon after watching the performances towards the tail end of last season, when it mattered, and I have seen little to change my opinion. Granada CF have offered £2.3 million for Sammy

Lennon looking to bring in a Norwegian left back called Forren.

Dexter Blackstock coming in as Forrest have 4 strikers ahead of him and he needs first team football after injury {Ed007's Note - Isn't Vergard Forren a CB?}

Believable3 Unbelievable12

His name is vegard Forren, and he plays cb and lb

Should go for danny Wilson he can play cb and lb.....

Agree0 Disagree0

Who cares about Granada?I'm more concerned about the idea of Celtic targeting a Notts Forest bench warmer,f*** that

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, with respect you picked up Kelvin Wilson - who was a bench-warmer at Forest - and Dexter Blackstock is a first-choice player when fit. It's a silly rumour, though - Forest are getting rid of their less able strikers and Blackstock isn't one of them. He's also injured until Christmas.

Paul McBride has said Sion will definatly be punished by Uefa and almost certainly will be banned from the competition: source twitter.

Believable14 Unbelievable10

I've read that any punishment will be given out to late to remove them from the competition

Agree0 Disagree0

Isaw something earlier but cant find it now can you show the twitter page? thete is also a rumour on facebook that sion willget kicked outfor sure

Agree0 Disagree0

Not according to Mcbride. I am sure that if the team has broken the rules against us then it is us who have been cheated. Therefor we will definatly be in the europa group stages. We will win anyway hail hail

Agree0 Disagree0

It is never to late to remove a team from a competition, the hearing is tomorrow and there is only on factor that will decide if they are chucked out or not, UEFA are hoping Celtic do there dirty work tonight, by beating them means they don't need to chucked them out, if sion go through then they will be disquilfied from the competition as so far they have fielded 4 players who are not registered with UEFA as sion have a transfer ban at the moment

Cumby Bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll take progressing any way it comes ..... but it would be good if we go out and do it off our own backs.

Hail hail

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely if UEFA were going to kick them out they would have done so already. Think they are scared of the Swiss courts who backed Sion

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope you boys reported them within 24hrs of the last game though as otherwise they will continue on a technicality

Agree0 Disagree0

Really hope your players dont go into tonight's game with the attitude that it doesnt matter about the result. UEFA are a law unto themselves, yes i am a Rangers fan but know that its important that BOTH teams go through or we as a nation drop 12 places in uefa rankings and end up having to playing qualifying rounds in June which canny be good for the future CAREBEAR

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't care if they are punished, we need to do it tonight to prove we belong in the competition. We have the team to do it but they have no confidence in themselves as we seen against St Johnstone. Come on Celtic, do yourselves proud. Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

Firstly I am a rangers fan and hope Celtic go through tonight with what they do on the park.
Sion are taking legal action over a decision to punish them. Paul Mcbride showed us all last year that footballing governing bodies cannot operate outside of the law by dishing out unfair punishments. I wouldnt be to surprised if FIFA / UEFA back down just like the SFA did last year. Just a thought and good luck tonight

Celtic Set To Swpop For Macheda

All over Manchester this morning that Lenny has agreed a loan move with United and the player is bursting to join Celtic. Exactly the type of player we need beside Hoops.

WHAT A SIGNING

Hail Hail

Believable26 Unbelievable24

This is total balls. there is noway SAF would help us out, so let's all get a grip.

hail hail

Marco1888

Agree0 Disagree0

I didn't believe this at first but it really does look as though this is more than a rumour as the whole of Manchester's talking about it.

Apparently Lennon made a promise to Ferguson that Macheda would be in the starting 11 from the word go and he (Ferguson) feels the SPL would be a good learning curve for him.

With Murphy away this all makes sense.

Agree0 Disagree0

Marco 1888

I doubted it at first but it seems this one's in the bag

Macheda's fallen further down the pecking order at Utd and he sees this as a way of making his mark.

I agree Ferguson has no time for our club but he sees it as being a great opportunity for young Macheda to reboot his career which is stalling at the moment.

Apparently it was Paddy Crerand that put in the word.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but this guy would get into any mid table epl team so why would SAF help us out. I hope am wrong but I doubt it.

hail hail

Marco1888

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would SAF want to help out any of his rivals in the Premiership by loaning out Macheda?

He sees Celtic as a great option for the lad and the player himself is said to be excited at coming here.

Paddy Crerand's a Celtic legend and this is coming from him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone got a link I checked through Manchester news online and can't find anything

Agree0 Disagree0

There is NO way Lenny would give any guarantee's about this guy or any other being in the first 11. Certainly he would be higher up the order than he is at Man Utd but that's all. Would be a good signing imo.

Agree0 Disagree0

Macheda is set to join watford on loan utd send at least 1 player each season for the last 4 seasons

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant see this deal happening . The SPL is far too big a step down quality . The only thing he would learn up here is how comfortable the treatment tables are.

jimi88

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think Lenny would have any problem making that promise - we don't exactly have an embarrassment of riches in the Centre Forward role.

This would be the "Marquee signing" that we've all been waiting on. Thank God we've got him

Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

Where does it say we have him

Marco1888

Agree0 Disagree0

Anybody remember lee martin,i remember
The day he signed for us, fergie had a massive grin on his jim taggart coupon in photo in paper.ps cant stand the man

Agree0 Disagree0

I've had a look for news articles linking Macheda with a move to Celtic and have found none. He has been linked with Blackburn and Newcastle but not us. Might be a good signing but 4 goals in 30 appearances for Man Utd and Sampdoria (loan) is hardly what you would call a prolific striker I'd rather have someone with a bit of experience and be good in the air than have a boy who is still learning the game.......What do you think Ed? {Ed007's Note - I have seen him play a few times, granted he isn't what I would have been looking for style wise but he could definitely do a job up here IMO}

Agree0 Disagree0

DID LEE MARTIN NOT SIGN FOR THE GERS?? I THINK IM RIGHT... ED?? {Ed007's Note - CFC signed a left back from Utd in 1994 called Lee Martin, he wasn't very good but he broke his leg not long after moving up here. Can you please stop posting in capitals.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't believe some are calling this a marquee signing He's a kid thats done nothing in the game.We need a six foot plus experienced player that will notch a few as well as assist Hoops/Stokes to score,

Agree0 Disagree0

As a Gers fan < I cant believe yous are believing this Rubbish LOL

(GAZMC1888) HELLO FELLOW TIMS, HAIL HAIL, JUST CHECKED ON THE BBC WEBSITE AND IT SAYS ITS SHOWING THE GAME LIVE ONLINE TONIGHT, SHOULD BE GOOD QUALITY, WITH REGARDS TO TRANSFERS, AS A FAN I HAVE FAITH IN NEIL LENNON, I BELIEVE HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S DOING, IF HE HAS A FEW TARGETS IN SIGHT THEN I AM SURE HE WILL CONCLUDE DEALS SOON, WE ARE ON OUTSIDE STRESSING OUT ABOUT WHO WE SHOULD BUY, OKAY NL MADE A COUPLE OF DODGY SIGNINGS BUT THE REST HAVE BEEN FANTASTIC, DEFENDER AND STRIKER IS ALL WE NEED, THAT'S IT. NOT COMPLICATED AT ALL, HAIL HAIL :) {Ed007's Note - Can you turn off your CAPS lock please.}

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Yes ed of course, didn't know it was not allowed...:)

Hail Hail :) {Ed007's Note - Some posters and the site admin see it as 'shouting', that's all.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Does it get a bit noisy at times? Just mirroring what someone else has said but surely the exit of Murphy means 'someobody' is up Neil's sleeve. Even if it is just a 'somebody'. Bit exciting regardless (we've been a bit deprived of the required signings so far) considering there's butter all the journalists can find out.

I'd hope we're going to get a target we've been looking at for a while - as you said, some signings over the past year and a bit have been terrific. Even a loan signing from the premier league would do me and we're still waiting for these '2-3 quality' players Lawell promised before the window so the pressure is really on Celtic now to deliver - not just for the fans' pleasure, but the need of the team.

At the minute i'd take anyone, even if it is just that 'somebody'. But sometimes good things come to those who wait.

fellow Tims, the game is on Swiss TV
tonight, but 2nd half only, after the
Young Boys v Braga game, I know you
Eds dont post stream sites, but Im sure you
can post the swiss TV channel - SF Swei
and let the troops search, they might
get some stream related to this channel
but the commentary will be in Swiss
German, better than nothing, as posted last
night, Sion are nothing great accoring
to a Zurich fan but he said today they
are always good in the local cups, ie
one off games, no consistency for a
season, my prediction is 1-1, and will
be back on after the 2nd half to hopefully
say - told you so :) - Swiss Tim {Ed007's Note - We can post links to streams but for legal reasons we can't condone it or recommend any sites.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Ed know it's not really allowed but games on premier ch tonite so guys can get English commentary thru the usual streaming sites. I always find first row good quality

It is also on Setanta ireland for anyone who has that. sean

'Dermot Desmond, the majority shareholder at Celtic Park and Denis O'Brien who has a 2.82% share of the club. In Four Four Two's Top 100 Rich List of 2009/10, O'Brien sat in 6th position ahead of the likes of Bernie Ecclestone, the Glazers and Alisher Usmanov. With the likes of Stan Kroenke, Joe Lewis, Roman Abramovich, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Lakshmi Mittal ahead of him. Desmond sat 12th on the list.'

The board has the money, I have no dount that they've taken more out from the club than put in... Your thoughts ed?

SeanyBhoy {Ed007's Note - If they had took more out and cleared the debt then that is an even better turn around. Everyone is aware of the FFPR that are coming into effect. A club can not spend more than they make or they can not participate in European competition. Everyone is saying how it will have an impact on the Man Citys, Chelsea etc but it will also have implications on CFC and Rangers.

www.uefa.com/uefa/aboutuefa/organisation/executivecommittee/news/newsid=1493078.html

Believable6 Unbelievable2

Hi Ed, I think as Celtic fans we have all been frustrated over the years by the fact that we have these very wealthy people on the board who appear reluctant to use their own money to support the club in terms of transfers etc as we have seen in the EPL.

Yes the UEFA regulations will have an impact but there are ways and means around this as Man City and Man Utd have recently demonstrated with large corporate sponsoirship deals which inflate the turnover. (one of the business which Desmond or O'Brien are associated with could do the same ?)

Surely at the level these two guys operate they could come up with some ways to provide some more funds for us to enable a long term plan in terms of acquisitions to be completed which would benefit both the success on the park and also the financial performance (e.g. purchase of Steven Fletcher and James McCarthy at the time would have generated substantial profits on resale and given us several years of these players contribuition on the pitch, these were players the fans were crying out for and we had a failed bid for Fletcher and a little more would have sealed him).

I understand the current climate and difficulties all round the football and financial world but certainly share the posters frustrations (as many of my fellow celts will) of having these people on board while 'they appear' not to support us more financially (unless of course things are going on behind the scenes that we are not aware of)

But despite the frustrations I and most of us are behind the team 100% and we need to ensure the 'negative' posters and supporters do not derail the good work already done and get behind the team for Lenny's first title which is paramount and more important than a run in Europe.

Agree0 Disagree0

That will never happen EUFA can't even punish clubs for fielding ineligble players ffs

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Rangers fans are welcome on here anytime, as long as their posts meet the site (and my own guidelines), demanding I post something isn't going to happen.}

Agree0 Disagree0

The guys are billionaires for a reason. They are excellent businessmen and therefore aren't going to just throw money at the club. I remember Dermot Desmond using millions of his own money to cancel out what we lost by not making th CL. So be thankful we have sensible owners and not someone like David Murray who will run our club into the ground.
Kevbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Kev, I agree we need to be sensible and I am gald we are not a 'Leeds' but it is also frustrating to have these guys on board with no apparent support above the shareholding.

I am not asking them to stick in 100 Million but a decent investment can also bring them/the club a return from both commercial activity and sell on values.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said ed it's ridiculous Celtic and rangers are a business and have to adopt a practical approach.some of the debt clubs in the epl have ran up is just obscene.in saying that spl wouldn't exist if it wasn't for the big 2. It's time the sfa got it's finger out and brought the country into the modern world with institutes of sport.etc.etc....

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it woud be worth the risk this season to give Lenny £8-10m to buy 3 or 4 quality players and that will give us the best chance of a long run in europe (meaning more money) and winning the league (meaning champions league money). That way the fans get a winning team on the park and the club and shareholders recouop their money next year.
