In sorry mate but that team just isn't good enough its a weaker side than we already have I've said this before its about replacing the players that leave with as good or better players!
we are crying out for a big commanding Centre half and a play making midfielder that can open up a defence one pass. Even a wide left midfielder.
Russell- maybe
goncalves I find it strange that he not good enough to get a game for Rio Ave but people think he's good enough for us!
Austin- Burnley will want to much for him
Green is on

Agree0 Disagree0

Green from qpr is a bombscare, griffiths too much of field bad baggage we'll end up out priced for both rhodes and austin (hope not), vigurs and concalves no thanks both pi** russell will he improve our attack? gershon needs game time between now and season end.

Agree0 Disagree0

Goncalves has done well against us a couple of times this season so saying a pish player can make us look bad is slagging us. from what I've seen he is a decent player who would b worth a punt.

I agree with @1) Wee need to aim higher and improve the squad. We will sign Kevin Doyle who I know no one seems to fancy but he will be a success! I hope Russell and Mackay-Steven are signed. Getting Ledley on a new contract is essential. Agree that we are desperate for a commanding centre half, it been the case for years in my opinion. The centre of our defence is rotten and has been since before even Caldwell and McManus. It's been the weekest part of our team for an age.

Agree0 Disagree0

OH NO! IS TONY MOWBRAY BACK TO RIP THE SQUAD APART? some INS would be nice russell, concalves as for outs only murphy I expect to leave and IF the price is right hooper H. H

Agree0 Disagree0

Why should we be out priced for Rhodes/Austin. We will be getting 6m for hooper and possibly 12 for wanyama. Where is this money gonna? we should be able to spend at least half of it. Lawwell will not be able to pull the wool over the fans eyes this summer with the huge amount of money we will be bringing in, there will be no excuses when the fans know the money is there!

@3 how is saying concalves pis* slagging us? it doesn't take much too look good against our defence adam mathews is the only one worth keeping, concalves would be a bench warmer at best he just ain't good enough and certainly not any better than what we have.

Agree1 Disagree0

Robert Green? You feeling awryt pal?

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course slagging someone who has made us look bad is also slagging ourselves. our defence hasn't been great domestically but getting rid of everyone bar mathews ain't the sensible thing to do. in europe which is a significantly higher level our defence looked decent except juve at home so it might be more to do with attitude than ability

as you can see the money has got less for nl the longer he is charge (same as mon and wgs )leading him to bring in freebies and loans most of which where/are rubbish, time to clear out and replace with quality you would think, we will see,,,, deep river bhoy

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Actually remarkable only about £7m in fees for that list although wasn't Forster deal made permanent in summer?

Agree0 Disagree0

I won't hold my breath as we have really changed our signing policy after MON and the quality I was used to and many supporters crave depends now on our scouting system uncovering the odd diamond in the rough, like Izzy, Vic, Ki and Kayal?
As an older supporter I have had to get used to a more economical option and the probability of players who are on the better side, offski as soon as a big offer comes in.
It would be fantastic to get a few quality players in long term and reward the manager for his efforts, as I agree with you about the failed loanees and January panic buys.
Unfortunately as long as the SPL is as poor and we manage a good CL campaign with the players we have; I doubt the Board will spend big?

Jungle Jim

Agree0 Disagree0

I find that so sad. we can't even buy a championship player line rhodes. scotish football is always getting worse and its always getting harder for celtic even though they can't do anything about it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes we havnt spent that much on players and at this point of time we shouldn't be, we should be doing what we are doing and buying unknown players and selling them at a profit. This means when rangers are back in the league we will be financialy sound and be able to compite with a team that will throw the kitchen sink at trying to win the league and if that means that lot getting into millions and millions of dept then they will and then there will be celtic who will be millions in profit and spending big then will no mean us getting into a financial mess like that lot

wee darren

Agree0 Disagree0

Drb, just looking at your list, 4 we got free and left for nothing. 4 came on loan and left or will leave to go back to where they came from. 4 we paid for and lost or will lose money on. so 12 that lost us about £5m. the other 15 cost £8m, that's us £13m down . however the sell on value of that 15 would be around £43m { guess } hey presto we are £30m up looking at the dates that's a £10m a year profit on transfers. alright we're not up there on the rich list but that is not bad trading. shammy

Agree0 Disagree0

Shammy. don't forget mgeady and ki. deep river bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Out of sight out of mind, so yes another 15m but I thought you were just talking about lennys signings. shammy

I was just adding them to your tally shammy, deep river bhoy

I see the usual comments about who is going and who is coming in. The quality being suggested are not up to inproving the squad for the champions league. so here is my contribution,

Out Hooper, possibily Wanyama for cash, Rogne, Murphy, Miku, McCourt, Stokes, Gershon ( has not played enough for a contract) all of these are at the end of their contracts.

In Jonnsen ( look at how he handled Ibrahanavic in the Malmo PSV game), Hanley ( looked our best player last night) Alonso ( we need a defensive LB) Rojas ( has better fitness than Mackay-Stevens) Russell ( is one for the future) Rhodes ( should have been here in the summer) and Cornilius (look at his goal scoring for Copenhagan) and a ball playing passing midfielder all thoughfull replies welcome

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Definitely Rojas. Plays left or right, runs all day. Has a beautiful shot. Young, cheap and full of ambition.

Hope yer kiddin about hanley the boys atrocious scored a good header but apart from that he was shocking lucky not 2 get 2 yellow cards aswel we need 2 aim a lot higher than hanley fs

Hope so with Alonso quality left back not sure about the rest. Personally I think Makay-Stevens should be our to target best left mid I have seen in Scotland.

Agree0 Disagree0

Forgive me for not having seen a Malmo PSV game, but who is this Jonnsen chap? Did yo somehow put *Ibrahimovic into that equation as well? Definitely not Hanley for me, not for the first team anyway. I'd be happy with the rest though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pontus jannsun or eric johannson?, hanley is a carthorse, alonso don't know much, mcay stevens ahead of samaras, commons or holding back paul george?, ledley mulgrew can operate there so direct money to another area, rojas never seen but also plays left wing /mid, russell rhodes and cornelius would be great I also think we could get russell and cornelius for the same price or less than rhodes, but a point to remember out of the last 10 signings we have only spent money on one (i posted about this before but it never appeared, but look at kerrydale street celtic wiki transfers in and out ),,, deep river bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Hanley is a truly appalling defender. friday just confirmed what I know. no pace. no clue. just a hatchet

Arsenal linked with cornellius, good bet a few others are watching too, can only see his fee growing bigger and may be priced out.
