looks like big vic is staying, quoted as saying so in the herald. wouldn't it be great if hooper signed an extension too? if these guys stay and a couple of new signings come in, we really could have the makings of a classic celtic team here. all we need is a brute of a centre half, a creative midfielder and cover for left back. i've got a feeling next year could be special!

Believable18 Unbelievable6

And a good back up keeper, a lightening fast winger who can cross the ball.

Vic saying on TV news tonight that he's happy at Celtic and not going anywhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

We need to give Tom Rogic a good run in the team as he will sort our creative midfielder requirements! Then maybe get a good bid in for Marco Rojas in too!

Article on tv sport also says that Vic is set to stay. Amazing news!

Agree0 Disagree1

If Wanyama doesn't sign an extension he'll be sold in the summer. The last thing the club will want is have him enter the last year of his current deal with the vultures hovering to sign him on a pre-contract.

Edit to my previous post - Vic has two years left on his contract so no rush to sell just yet. Hopefully, he'll have a cracking seaon next year and then either sign on for another four years or spark a bidding war.

In my opinion its only good news if he signs a new contract we can't keep letting players run down their contracts and lose money from their sale or worse allow them to leave on a free

Agree2 Disagree2

Great news. delighted! I also hope Hooper does stay, he is a massive player for us. also agree Rogic needs more playing time. how great it is to be a Celtic fan. i'm loving it. don't rest Hooper yet because I've got a healthy bet on him been top goal scorer. ha ha!

Agree0 Disagree3

Good news since he has 2 years on contract. I would think he would stay till january window giving best of both worlds. Hopefully he raises his profile with us on another euro campaign then we can get maximum fee for him. I don't see him signing a new contract. Wish he would. mark

Agree0 Disagree0

What a legend. Hopefully he signs a big contract with us allowing us to get big money for him down the line. He deserves to be among our top earners.

I still hope Hooper leaves though, he doesn't seem to really have the desire to play for us anymore. Get the money in and bring in someone fresh, Jordan Rhodes hopefully but he might be out of our price range now. I think this talk from Lawell and Lennon might be a tactic to push up the price of any potential bids.

I think its great news that wanyama is staying because I believe that he would be far more difficult to replace than hooper I believe that hooper does not have the motivation and drive to play for celtic anymore and we should cash in now we have had better strikers and we will again no need to be held to randsom over a player that doesn't want to play for the club

I don't agree that we should sell Vic in January next year. We'll need him for the CL Final.

On a free would be a great signing but still looking to buy a top striker

Agree0 Disagree1

Boyd is not the answer. Holder Barbara on a free? Noel

#Helder barbosa

Agree1 Disagree0

Definitely take Barbosa on a free. If we could agree terms i'd take Distin on a Bosman too. Definitely got at least two seasons in him still.

Agree0 Disagree0

Distin's wages would be far too high for the Hoops. We should raid the Belguim or Israeli league for a cheap imposing Centre back

Scottish PFA player of the year nominations

Leigh Griffiths
Michael Higdon
Niall McGinn
Andrew Shinnie

Wanyama up for young player of the year.

I would like to hear suggestions of which Celtic players should maybe have got a mention.

Anyone suggesting Kelvin Wilson will deserve a slap, that includes Lenny if he tries to suggest it.

Thought Mathews should have got a mention in the young player category, he's had an outstanding season

Brown before his injury was excellent, our most consistent player, and in a team that's won the league with 5 games to spare that should merit a mention.

Kris Commons has 10 goals and 9 assists and has been one of the form player in the SPL over the last 6 weeks. He has 3 in the Scottish cup and 3 in the league cup this season aswell. 16 goals is a great return.

Believable6 Unbelievable2

How commons has'nt been included is beyond me the goals he's scored from midfield should merit bein in with a shout shinnie has been good but he's hardly been as good as commons and its not bein biased because he's a celtic player its just fact he's been instrumental in us winnin the league but a did comment on a post a few weeks ago that a think big higdon deserves the award

Agree0 Disagree0

It's laughable no Celtic player got a mention but also what bout Jonny Russel or Gary Mackay Steven they've had good seasons

Agree0 Disagree0

Wilson has hardly missed a game this season and was excellent in Europe not brilliant every game but has been better than Brown who's missed a lot of games. DH

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't even bother getting worked up over that mate. Joke shortlist, anything that has higdon mentioned isn't worth paper it's written on. If that's considered the elite of our game then it's worse than I thought. Shinnie?why? Mcginn, had a really successful part season where goals were flying in, bear in mind the poor team he's in. Griffiths for all his personal off field issues is decent and has always scored goals when regularly featured at each club. As for us, there were definitely candidates that merited a place. Ure shout about the utd boys wasn't bad either. Steve dundee

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone mention kelvin Wilson will get a slap? Do you watch or know anything about celtic this year? He has been our best defender with some outstanding displays in Europe the most improved player at celtic park!

Agree0 Disagree0

DH, Kelvin Wilson better than Brown this season? Your having a laugh mate.

Your slaps in the post lol

Agree0 Disagree0

@5) You couldn't recognise a centre half if Franco Barese came to your house and slapped you in the face for you daft suggestion. Our central defence is shocking! Without doubt the weakest part of our team. It is unquestionably worse than last season and Wilson being an improved player is only a testament to how bad he was last year, he was awful. Ambrose is even worse btw, maybe that's what in your eyes is giving you the impression Wilson is decent, the fact he's playing beside one of the worst centre halves I have seen at celtic park.

And by the way, the PFA scottish footballer of the year award voters don't take european performances into consideration, surprisingly haha

Agree0 Disagree1

After seeing that post about praising Kelvin Wilson as better than Scott Brown this season I have to comment.

Brown has played 33 games for Celtic this season and been excellent. We have missed him one way or another in every one of those absences. To put Kelvin Wilson's performance over the season ahead of him is absolutely ridiculous. Your making you comment on the back of Wilson playing more games so therefore being an ever present. In my opinion having watched 27 league games, 6 cup games and 6 European all in the flesh I can assure you he has been an ever present because we didn't have anyone else in the managers eyes. I would have played Mulgrew, Scotlands player of the year in the position he won the award from but Lennon made an error of judgement on that one for me. Wilson has had 3 quality performances in europe overshadowed by the rest. Cagey, positionally inept, untrustworthy on the deck and causing panic to the rest of our backline is what I have seen. He plays almost 80 mins worth of a game adequately, but for the other 10 he makes big mistakes and depending on the oppositions ability to capitalise he loses goals or gets away with it. I want a new central defensive partnership next year or we will get the same guff again.

Agree0 Disagree0

For everybody mentioning performances in Europe I would like to remind you its the Scottish PFA award, so Europe doesn't matter a jot.
