ED007 as a Manchester United fan, what are your thoughts on Fergie's autobiography?
My opinion is he comes across as a very bitter man and trying to settle a few scores.
Also what must Moyes think with his comments on Rooney.
I had to laugh when he called Keane a bully, er Mr Ferguson, there was not a bigger bully than yourself in football. Timalloy {Ed007's Note - I doubt I will read it Tim but as you say the parts in the media do not put him in too good a light, although his bullying side was nothing that wasn't already known. I actually think the book should have been put off for couple of years to allow some time for things to settle down at OT, a lot of people are of the opinion that AF chose Moyes as his successor because he knew he would be no threat to his legacy at Utd, now is his ego really THAT big?
As you know Keane is a sporting hero of mine and the digs at him, Beckham and Rooney etc are nothing more than shows of petulant schoolboy pettiness and a need to have the last word.
He was an absolutely fantastic manager, one of the best ever but I lost a lot of respect for him over the Rock of Gibraltar race-horse fiasco plus the now infamous '99 questions' and the negative impact it all had on Utd. A lot of what he said in public was blatant hypocrisy.}

Believable2 Unbelievable5

I think the stud rights fiasco was a huge mistake by Ferguson as it detracted from the football but rebounded spectacularly on him by letting the Glazers in. I always believed that the real reason he never spoke out about the way they ran the club was because he knew he had a lot of the responsibility for it.

Sadly I have to disagree with you Ed about Keane. I say sadly as I loved him in his prime dominating games and driving the team on. But his behaviour at the end and with Ireland, Sunderland and Ipswich makes me think he was a arrogant bully and an absolute k**b to be around.
CBP {Ed007's Note - Fair doos mate, I know he isn't everybody's cup of tea.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember at the time keane did that with the republic, in a way I agreed with him, but Man Utd (fergie to be more precise) did they not get him onto a private jet home, and look after him?
I think ferguson has just shown himself to be the arrogant c*nt he is! the timing of the book! especially when there is still players at the club is wrong. Jonnybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

The thing that always struck me about Fergie was that he was fair, and within reason forgiving(unless he felt you were taking the mickey, shall we say) - even with regards Celtic, although he followed the other mob, he always spoke highly of us, even recently at Sean Fallon's funeral, we also know he is a man of principal(all the nonsense he had to put up with because he married a Catholic) but he said I'm not accepting that! Regarding Keane, I always thought he was quite selfish(in general) - even when he came to us, I think he had one good game and then retired, what was that all about? I have family from Ireland, but I always find their take on Celtic a little patronizing(sometimes) - we're like an afterthought. I would also say well done to Mick Macarthey for standing up to him, I respected him more after that, he refused to be bullied - he was the manager and I felt he got absolutely no respect from Roy Keane! UEFA have charged Ajax after supporters were involved in disturbances during Tuesday's UEFA Champions League defeat at Celtic.

Travelling fans were seen clashing with stewards in the moments following Celtic's first goal in a match the Scottish champions won 2-1, while reports claimed that seats were ripped up and thrown.

Police Scotland confirmed no Dutch fans were arrested during the game but UEFA has decided to take action and a hearing will take place next month.

A spokesman said: "Disciplinary proceedings have been opened against AFC Ajax for crowd disturbances and throwing of objects (article 16 of the UEFA

Disciplinary Regulations) at last night's UEFA Champions League match in Glasgow against Celtic FC.

"The case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body on 21 November."

With talk of Stokes going to West Brom. What are the chances we could offer Shane Long a contract since his current contract with WBA is coming to an end.

I would be happy with Long to play infront of Pukki, could be the partnership we have been looking for.

Believable12 Unbelievable10

Not sure I want to lose stokes but him and pukki are to similar we need a target man who has strength a hartson Sutton type would be ideal been realistic there's not meny options will need park to pull another gem out or start giving balde more game time
Gordybhoy44

Agree0 Disagree0

I would be delighted if we targeted the following 3 players:

Grant Hanley, Ryan Gauld and a good striker like Long or Finbogasson

Agree0 Disagree0

See, I want to see 4 strikers on the pitch at the start. Sammy in his usual LW position, Balde up front as the target man with Stokes and Pukki (one partnering Balde, one in behind the front two). I reckon it could work?!

HamiltonBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Going on performances from pukki so far a wouldn't have a place for him on the bench, sorry but the bhoy needs to step up now.
4 strikers on the pitch might work in the SPFL but against good passing teams they won't get much joy.
Hanley looks rite ruff when av seen him.never seen finboggason play but going on past herenveen goalscorers Sammi and Alves there's no guarantee they'll score els wer

I would like to see Matt Smith of Leeds at Parkhead.
He looks to have the power and strength of John Hartson, something we have been missing.
He signed a 2 year contract in June '13, so could be a cheap buy. His father is Scottish.

Here's the other guy's opinion. And he's right, if he wins in Amsterdam we go bottom:

Ajax manager Frank de Boer remains confident his side can still get third place in the group.
"Celtic didn't create anything although they scored twice, once with a penalty, " he said.
"We dominated the game but only scored once and should have equalised before they got their second.
"It is going to be very hard for us to get second place but I have confidence in the third place.
"We have one point and if we win at home we will be one point ahead of Celtic."

There's no room for error from the players or the manager in holland. Lenny needs to get it 100% spot on. No red cards please and no ill judged substitutions. Our strikers aren't scoring goals which remains a huge concern. Will we rely on deflections and luck?

Hail Hail

Believable7 Unbelievable12

Firstly, great result last night but let's get serious if Ajax don't win in two weeks time they will feel like we did when Morton beat us the other week. We got lucky last night, don't get me wrong we certainly deserved a bit of luck but it won't carry us to a top three finish. All the slick play around the box came from them and on another night we may have lost this game.

Agree1 Disagree0

I am unable to get over enthusiastic about last night; but obviously delighted we won and went 3rd in the group.
I totally expect Celtic to surrender possession against the likes of Barcelona and Milan who have some world class players and most of the others are 'out of our league'.
However; Dutch football - as skill-full as it is - is not a major European power and for us to have a mere 31% possession on our own ground was very disappointing.
We eventually had to rely on a PK and a deflection and to be honest we had very few clear cut chances apart from that.
I know we are the pot-four team and we were a few players short, but I worry about our lack of chances and goals all through the team (domestically as well).

I'd try negativecelt would be more apt over sensiblecelt.martyc1888

Agree0 Disagree0

Sensiblecelt. Tell the truth now, before last night could you have named 3/4 ajax players? So why the morton comment?

Agree0 Disagree0

Guys less of the negative, look at the bench, we where on our backsides squad wise!

line up for Amsterdam

Forster
Izzy Ambrose Van D Lustig
Forrest Kyal Ledley Mulgrew Sami
Puki/Stokes

We need the two wide men to get in ther faces, we proved at times when they are under preasure there (attractive) play falls apart, the extra man in the middle will allow the front three to gamble a bit on unsettling them and allow us to press and pick up possesion!

In Lenny we trust! the best Hoops manager since Jock Stein! Hail Hail

Mac the knife

Agree0 Disagree1

Great 3 points and battling from us but we badly lack creativity from midf and we are powderpuff upfront.with all the money we have pulled in we should be addressing these situations

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha ha! the other guy's opinion. and he's right! lol. Here's my opinion. an ex ebt cheating person greeting cause his team got beat! typical scottish negativity. if we get beat we're bottom?! if we win there's a good chance we are second. I thought it was telling that our first win in the group(and yes arguably the easiest tie of the group) was with commons missing from the lineup. great result but playing with 2 wide men we should play big balde through the middle as a target man and look for pukki to pick up any knockdowns or second balls. now to get rid of stokes cause he's not upto that level.

Agree0 Disagree0

JJ Tell me where having more of the ball win's you game's, scoring goal's is what win's you game's, last night and Barcelona come to mind.
SensibleCelt " All the slick play came from them " did they win, no. Remember Tommy Burn's team, how slick were they, best football from a Celtic team in year's, and we know what happened there.I am being serious when I say I think Celtic will get a result over at Ajax. For God's sake the team we had out last night done us proud, less of the negativity and support the team.
Tambhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Tambhoy

I obviously want Celtic to win and yes; to do that we need to score, but I have watched Celtic for decades and we were built on attacking football and keeping possession. Now we play more football without the ball than ever before and it frustrates me to see us being out-played for huge parts of games especially when Ajax are no great side.
Aye; We were a few players down but it highlights the tiny squad and limited ability

JJ

Agree0 Disagree0

Listening to radio on way home they wer saying there bound to have better possession if they keep passing about at the back, there Gk made 29 passes

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets no beat about the bush we do not have an out and out goal scorer in the squad. Why did we not replace Hooper? Penny pinching again by the Board. Yes we cannot spend tens of millions on a Striker but 2 Mil Balde, 2 Mil Pukki, why not ONE Goal Scorer for 4 - 5 Mil.

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly what av been saying buying players for future ie balde is ok but we need quality now. why buy puckie who's goal scoring record ain't good the dutch boy who is more on the treatment table than the park.the buoys last night done well but with more quality ie creative mid, cf we mb even be sitting top.ajw

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe the post was negative but despite the three points that's how I was left feeling, I saw nothing to give me much confidence about getting a result in two weeks time. Sorry if I don't have the same blinkered view as some of the posts I've read over the last few months but when it's good I'll say its good and when it's bad I feel it's fair to criticise.

Agree0 Disagree0

JJ I have watched Celtic since 1957, I have seen us play great football and get beaten on many many occaision's, in this day and age because we have not got the same money asd foriegn team's we have to cut our cloth accordingly, this in turn mean's we have to play to our strength's, which as we have seen over the last two season's Neil has done and so far we have been passable against foriegn opposition, apart from Udinese, that is why I don't like this negativity, Neil went out with a game plan and it worked, so I say if this is the way we have to play to get a result so be it
Tambhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Sensible Celt What blinkered view's, you are obviously a half empty glass man, as I have said in another post sometime's you have got to work to a game plan, that's what Celtic did and came away with a result.Forget the negativity mate and just enjoy the journey.
Tambhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Tambhoy, your probably right, I probably am glass half full kind of guy but like I said delighted with 3pts but after watching the game I'm honest enough to admit that we got lucky on Tue night as opposed to some magic NL game plan. Will lightening strike twice in two weeks, I doubt it, but I hope it does and we win again. I'm just surprised that I've not been told, "away back to your own site", that always makes me laugh. I respect the opinion of everyone on here, whether it be blinkered or not.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sensible Celt I don't think anyone from the other side would use that name to be honest, I am honest enough to say we were lucky that they did not score another goal, I believe we played to Neil's game plan as we did against Barcelona last year, some time's game plan's work some time's thing's happen and they don't work, ie Broony getting sent off against Barca and Biton getting sent off on Tuesday night could have cost us, don't take anything away from Neil's game plan because it worked, I think you are blinkered in your view by not appreciating how Neil set out to play.
