Rumours from down south Tom Huddleston is set to sign on loan full season with spurs picking up 75% of his wages all dependant on the wanyama deal also heard we are interested in badwille ;) hope not.jiggythetim

Believable4 Unbelievable12

Would be good if true doubt it very much though as for goodwillie he hasn't done anything since he moved would rather see watt get a game and keatings George atajic get a break in the squad
Gordybhoy44

Agree0 Disagree0

Ive never heard of him, is he any good?
john88

Agree0 Disagree1

Don't particularly rate Huddlestone. Obviously he'd walk the SPL, but compared to Wanyama, he's not that good and may not be good enough for champions league. Let's all do the huddle. stone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Keatings was released at the end of the season, but the point was fair GordyBhoy. I do want to see more of Watt, McGeouch, Atajic, Fraser, etc. At the end of the day, if we're not giving these players a shot, what is the point of the U19, U21, and development squads.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tom H was outstanding a few years back. Perhaps he has lost his way. Perfect for some rehab at CFC. He is a big lad. Sopotcelt.

Agree0 Disagree0

I only want him here because he has huddle in his name lol HH

Fulham have made a £4m offer for James Forrest.

Believable5 Unbelievable20

Who the hell are fulham trying to kid!!!!!!1

Agree0 Disagree0

Sold, wage thief.
John88

Agree4 Disagree4

No chance! and anyone coming on here saying sell him and giving him pelters about his crossing ability should buy a season ticket and to and watch him live instead of talking absolute guff about his game. He is the best young talent scotland have, end of story. Anyways Neil Lennon knows the story, rates him and Forrest is a favourite of his. This bid will be thrown out before Fulham could spell James Forrest.

Agree1 Disagree1

James Forrest must be the best young player in Scotland. We need to keep him at all costs. JK

Agree0 Disagree0

He is injury prone and disappears in big games. He can't cross, is knocked of the ball easily and when he loses possession he gazes to the heavens and raises his arms. He did look the part in his first season and lit up the SPL with his pace and goals.
But he has been a shadow of that player this past season, although lengthy injuries have contributed.
Negotiate it up to £6m and replace him IMO.

jj

Agree1 Disagree1

I have a season ticket and watch the one trick pony for 4 million I drive him down his finally ball poor, decision making poor, go inside to much, 1 cross all season for the winner in the semi, poor the rest of the game take the money

Agree1 Disagree1

Obviously they have failed to see the FOREST for the TREES!

Must be his bootlaces that they want to buy!

Sunny Jim.

Agree0 Disagree1

Wouldn't surprise me if this is true, Fulham have made some really sharp signings so far this off season. However, I fully expect Celtic to treat this bid with the contempt it deserves.

Agree0 Disagree0

If he ever goes it will be like before. 9mill for our academy player and best Scottish talent

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd take their hand off for that money and buy mackay-stevens from Dundee Utd. Forrest is one of the worst players I have seen at celtic since the days of simon donnelly and mark burchill. Total waste of a jersey.

Agree1 Disagree0

If Celtic can get in excess of £9m for McGeady, then £4m for Forrest is way, way short.

When we played Benfica at Celtic Park, they had 2 men marking our 21 year old winger at all times. They obviously seen him as one of our biggest threats

I'm a Forrest fan and hope he can stay injury free this season. ~ Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree0

Take the money and run, totally over-rated by Lennon.

Agree0 Disagree0

@10) Celtic fan? Your having an absolute bubble mate.

Should have left a name with that comment so we would know to ignore your opinions in future.

Or possibly just a sadcase from the 3rd tier obsessing on a Sunday afternoon. {Ed007's Note - I noticed you didn't leave a name either, so by your reckoning your's a The Rangers/Sevco fan does like Forrest? Not everyone with a different opinion from yours is a The Rangers/Sevco fan, away and grow up.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha FFS you've got to laugh haven't you, your taking that guys side when he's making comments about a Celtic player being a "Wage thief"

having an opinion about a player is one thing but I don't accept calling our own players that (a young one still learning the game aswell) its not on. And you know what, its James Forrest were talking about, get some f*cking perspective will you. Wage thief? I'm absolutely embarrassed to call him a fellow Celtic supporter after that and to be honest you as well for accepting it.

Lol you take the time to pull me up about "suggesting" he might be one of that mob but you don't feel obliged to say steady on mate to this f*d.

Its an ignorant, illiterate opinion. Probably looking for a reaction and of course I obliged him. I would always defend our players when someone takes it too far.

Yer auld the 1888 {Ed007's Note - I've got to laugh a lot, yes. Especially when it comes to reading some of the garbage cretins like you send in. You came on attacking another poster trying to make yourself look like a smart arse and made a mess of it by at least not leaving a name (one of the things you pulled him up on). There's no fool like an auld fool.
It's better when others are allowed opinions, it allows people who are capable of holding a conversation, holding one. Read along you might learn something, there certainly sounds like there is plenty of room for you to fill 'upstairs'.
In my opinion I'd agree with the guy with the Mackay-Steven idea, is that ok with you, can I still support CFC??}

Agree0 Disagree0

Jamesy showed great promise the season before last but last season he was nothing more than mediocre. He seems to be able to create chances for himself but he continually holds the ball too long and eventually loses it.
The footballing world is full of future talents but he has been one of them for too long without developing the way a REAL talent should.
£4m? If it were up to me I'd say yes, and thank you very much.

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

ChrisBhoy i'm with you on this, over rated to easily knocked off the ball at times and throws his hands in the air at the ref, Maybe he will prove me wrong as he's still a young man learning the game but does not do it often enough for me. I to would take 4m for him. maccabhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I never realised before I came on here so many Celtic fans don't seem to rate him. He gets pelters at times. I mean wage thief? That is a bit harsh is it not.

Personally I think anything above 5 million has to be looked at as good business for Celtic as he come through the youth system but to be honest I would rather no bid come in for him at all and we kept him as I feel all he needs is a run of games injury free and he will be flying again. He has so much ability and potential he could go as far as he wants in the game. Great wee player and the fact he isn't really appreciated makes me want to see him do well all the more. It just seems some people are giving him a hard time about how he performed last season when infact he didn't even hardly have a season. He was out for more than half of it. Bit harsh and cynical I think.

Anyways I hope the wee shoulders isn't sold and goes on to prove the doubters wrong. Infact i'm sure the doubters hope so too as we all love to see a youth player doing the business in the first team.

Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

If James had to go then I would hate that a young Scot with the world at his feet, James must be in the £10 million plus and only the big guns may turn his head one day, but that day is a long way off.

JF will stay and become a celtic legend

Agree0 Disagree0

I would accept any offers over 6 million for young James. He at times is sensational and at other times, seems to have cement in his boots! If he played consistently and to the level he is capable of then I would be pricing him in the 10m plus bracket, due to his age and the fact he is always the first name on Lenny's team sheet (when he is fit cough cough!). HH ShottsBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I would agree with the 6m price tag. i'd say that's fair and if it came down to it i'd rather 6mil to invest in players than forrest. i'm sure there are plenty of decent wingers around for that money.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's certainly not like you Ed - I have never seen you give another celtic fan abuse like that before. Cretin? I think that was very, very harsh mate. The person that claims forrest is the worst player since simon donnelly and mark burchill? I think that has to be one of the worst player judgements i've ever heard.

In all fairness though, the guy who said he's embarrassed to call him a fellow celtic fan, that overstepped the mark a little buddy. Although he was right to critisize him and i'm behind him in defending james. It was a derogatory statement - branding forrest a "total waste of a jersey" is a shocking remark.

I will say something though, gary mackay steven is never as good as james forrest, and if forrest keeps on progresing, he probably never will be. Although, I have no doubt in my mind that I want mackay steven in a tic jersey.

4 million is not enough for james forrest. never. It wasnt so long ago he was making better progress than mcgeady had at 21, and now we're talking about 5 million. Surely not.

Celtic make £1.5m bid for Brighton winger Will Buckley.

Believable6 Unbelievable13

Well this clearly isn't correct because Southampton had a £5m bid rejected during the January transfer window. So if Celtic want to bid £7.5m+ they won't be bring Buckley up to Scotland.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jun 2013 14:07:51
Ed, do you think we would be intrested in troy deeney or adam le fondre when gary hooper leaves. I think they would do great for us and bang in the goals. Gazdcelt {Ed007's Note - I can't see Deeney as a target but ALF has been of interest to CFC for a while now .}

Believable8 Unbelievable7

Alf wouldn't let us down! A proven goal scorer where ever he's played!Must be worth a try for Lennon?

According to Sly Celtic have shown Interest in American striker Jozy Altidore from AZ in Holland, he is valued at 5 Million would be great replacement for Hooper Imo. Gandalf the green

I'd love to see this lad play for us he's a big powerful striker and would be a perfect replacement for Hooper, would be good if we did but might be punching above or transfer budget and wage budget but I hope we can pull this one off.

Agree0 Disagree0

If this came off, it would be a major statement of intent. Would love to see it but doubt it. You never know though, thrown a tidy bit of cash around very early on. Daviebhoy77

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know about now but the last time I seem him he was a big donkey can't c us spending that money when we just bought a big powerful striker

SOS BHOY

Agree1 Disagree0

I believe he got 23 goals in 33 league games last season. He's also on fire for USA at the moment. Would be a great signing, however if he has options in the premier league, I don't think we could sign him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Was he not on loan at hull a few years ago with big jan venegoor and he was rotten from what a remember. GunnieBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I live in Dallas Texas and watch all the USA games and Altidore is a great finisher and full of confidence scoring in his last 4 games, Germany included. He plays as a lone striker and benefits from an attacking mid and thrives on balls crossed in. He scored in 3 WC qualifiers this month
Tanner

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be fantastic if we brought him in. Gazdcelt

Agree0 Disagree0

He was on loan at Hull in 2009/10 season and did terrible. I wouldn't judge a player's current ability on how he did 3 years ago. He's had 2 good seasons in a stronger league than ours, which would definitely suggest he has improved. I'd take him anyday.

Agree0 Disagree0

Now is the time to get this lad. Would be a great replacement. An improvement on Hooper actually in my eyes. He's only 23 still and is starting to live up to the hype which surrounded him when he was 17.

So Southampton have started the bidding at £10million. Will this be a one off payment or will it be half up front and the rest spread in monthly/end of season payments?

ed, any word on hoopers leaving yet, personaly I would rather he left now so balde can get settled into his role in the team {Ed007's Note - Contracts are usually paid annually over the duration of the contract (a £5 million player on a 5 yr deal would cost the buying club £1m a season), if the player is sold within those 5 years then the balance must be paid before his registration for the new club can be completed.
Currently there is nobody prepared to meet CFC's Hooper's fee just now. CFC are holding out for £5million +add ons. I have a feeling Aston Villa could become interested if they can raise the funds, they might even try and use a player as part of any deal.}

Believable8 Unbelievable5

I am a bit puzzled as to why Celtic have accepted a £10M bid so soon when it seems there are other clubs interested?
I realise when NL quoted £25m, it was a bit over-stated, but we should not sell ourselves (or the player) short.
I am also sure if Wanyama does sign for a bottom 6 EPL side, he will be closely watched by bigger teams gauging his progress. So sell-on's are paramount.

Jungle Jim

Agree0 Disagree0

Jungle Jim, you should really bring yourself up to date! After Southampton brought in their new manager last season they performed as a top 8 side, and will do better than that next season. The EPL is a fluid league and teams do climb the table and t'other way round. Realise that life is different in the SPL but for a 21 year old player Southampton should be a very attractive proposition. Doesn't mean Wanyama will sign but out of all the teams in the EPL where he would be likely to play regularly initially and could be back playing in the CL within 3 years, Southampton would be the one team to chose.

Saint Martin

Agree0 Disagree2

Celtic will be wanting Wanyama move on as quickly as possible to free any monies required for further investment in the side pre-CL qualifiers. The best way to do that is to provisionally accept the bit from Southampton and force the other clubs to firm up on their offers

Agree0 Disagree0

As far as I'm concerned Wanyama to Southampton is pure speculation. If he did go to Southampton it would only be his next stepping stone to a top team and he'll probably leave Southampton in a year or two.

Agree0 Disagree0

Saint Martin - My mistake, Saints were 8th from bottom, (no matter what level they were perceived as playing) Anyway, I was not having a go at your team; my point was mainly about Celtic accepting offers prematurely. Wanyama is a very hot prospect, thanks mainly to his CL performances and we would be wise to hold fire until the CL qualifiers.
If any club wants him badly enough before he is 'cup tied' then so be it.
But we should not push him out the door an initial offer comes in. Cheers mate.

Jungle Jim

Agree0 Disagree0

I think, Jungle Jim, the guy who posted above could be correct. Saints have been watching Wanyama for some while and will have a clear idea from contacts with Celtic what his value is. Celtic are already looking to bring players in, and reported to be looking to fund them out of Wanyama's fee. Saints also have an alternative target who they are in discussion with, so I think both clubs have a need to conclude this (or move on) as quickly as possible.
I suspect a delay in the move would not be in the interest of Celtic as last minute deals to bring players in often cost a premium and may also mean the primary targets have already gone elsewhere.

Celtic have launched a bid for Mallorca winger Giovani dos Santos. The 24-year-old Mexican is with his national side at the Confederations Cup in Brazil, but will have talks with his representatives over a possible move on his return to Europe.

Believable4 Unbelievable21

Celtic would be a really good fit for him, chance to kickstart a flagging career. Perfect addition for us too, versatile winger who plays both flanks Reckon he'd be pretty pricey though. If we were to get a player for that position and a replacement IF Hooper leaves I'd see this as the best window I can remember. Daviebhoy77

Agree0 Disagree2

Very talented but has proved he isn't suited to the British game. Won't happen.

LM67

Agree0 Disagree0

Valencia are in for him at 6.7 million euros. Also this month stated he'd like to stay in Spain.
Non starter.

Jammy Mac

Agree1 Disagree0

I wish this was true, I think he's a great player but I just can't see it though. I think he will go for more money than we will spend and wages beyond our limits.

Agree0 Disagree0

Was dos santos at barcelona last yr?

Agree0 Disagree1

Giovanni Dos Santos's Brother Jonathon plays for Barcelona.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spanish teams don't seem to be well off financially and considering Mallorca got relegated ( Alan Hutton's fault ) I don't think he'd cost too much.

He is Mexican not brazillian
