Have been told by a close source that Celtic are in the process of setting up a coaching set up exchange with Vfb Stuttgart it is still being discussed.

Have also heard this but was told it was another Bundesliga team and it will be announced within 10 days sounds quite progressive to me

Evening all. Was just wondering what you all thought about bringing in Ben haim? Comes with bags of experience and would be a free transfer and is currently on 36k a week!id take him in an instance to tighten the back!i feel that this would be a viable option if wages were cut a bit what are your thoughts?

Believable5 Unbelievable17

I have always thought he was a decent player and could do a job for us in the SPL bit what about Europe and what age is he now . But still a good shout . Paddy

Agree2 Disagree5

He is robbing Pompey of all the money he possibly can. He is not worth the risk as he is prone to injury and strikes me as a Bobo at the end of his contract. Money grabbing!

Agree4 Disagree4

I was thinking the same i seen it in the paper he should take a small wage cut to play at a higher level in the cl maybe get him a big move back to the epl again after doing the business in the cl for us :) if it's not costin us give him a year contract least if it does na work out we won't loose that much money on him we have had 5 or 6 player we paid high fees for that have bn loaned out coz they have not bn good for celtic

Agree3 Disagree2

Season not even started and we are moaning filling the pages of other sites and you know what sites im referring to and also the press who will jump on your opinions and give us banner headlines when we dont need unnecessary distraction for the players and fans im sure nl knows whats required getting them is the problem scottish football is the laughing stock of world football caused by the totally incompetent people in charge of the well being of the game here and also the irrepairable damage caused by rangers what decent player would want to come here and ply his trade and shame on the person who referred to the biscuit tin in their post.

In this climate we are rightly following the model of clubs such as Ajax and Porto, albeit they're further down the line than us. We bring in young talent, give them a stage to showcase their talents and then move them on for massive profits and repeat the process. This allows us to get the best of of great players and make massive financial gains from it. I like the way our club is being run for one and will back Peter lawell all the way

Believable6 Unbelievable6

Ajax and Porto will bring in players for at least twice the price Celtic do though. Hence they sell them for three times what Celtic sell players for. DD needs to take more of a gamble, even though in my eyes it aint a gamble, Celtics scouting system seems spot on the last few seasons.

Agree0 Disagree2

You still need experienced players and coaches to bring these players along...that is clearly missing from our set up

Agree2 Disagree0

Problem Celtic have compared to teams from Holland and Portugal is the work permit issue, Portugese teams can field a whole team of South Americans and maybe strike it lucky with 3/4 of them they can double their money on.

Evening all. I'm gutted about our transfer restrictions and if and buts and when we can,! If what has been published is true then were doomed for another absent season from cl
What we have in defence is not good enough we need a creative cm that's more consistant than ki! And a composed cf target man for a way out! IMO I think we are going to struggle maybe Ajax was the kick up the *rs* we need to get match fitness for the first leg. I'm disgusted by pl decision and would like to here your opinions on the matter

Brian

Believable10 Unbelievable7

I agree 100% ,Rangers would spend in a position off strength,we should push the boat out and progress to the cl which we will toil to do with the current squad, why no net spend again!!

Agree5 Disagree7

It really breaks my heart to say this but if the centre of our defence isn't sorted out and the players don't learn how to defend as a team then newco will be in the ch lge group stages before us time to bring in joe jordan for a bit of experience to help out lenny hail hail

Agree4 Disagree8

........and we all know what happened to them!
Celtic are now a selling club. Accept it. Our policy is to sign players preferably un der 25 years old, to maximise sell-on value. That rules out the 'experienced' CB everyone is demanding.
The days of lofty transfer fees and big wages are gone........kbt1978

Agree7 Disagree2

If we (CFC) dont have money to spend then I would agree with the delay in buying, but what is the excuse for not buying say at least a decent CB, however how can this be the case? Surely the huge amounts of money the fans are spending on merchandise and season books must be generating a surplus. If it isn't then I am afraid the board must give themselves a good shake. I have harped on about the Celtic diaspora and the potential fans in other countries for years with seemingly no reaction or initiatives from CFC save for a few friendlies in Oz and US which BTW seem to do more harm than good financially! We really need to tap into this rich seam of potential supporters. I dont think it would be that difficult as there are many ( up to 9 million according to some reports) genuine CFC fans in other parts of the world desperate to buy in but have precious few opportunities to do so and next to no incentive. The fans at home are making serious contributions and some are suffering financially to help CFC, all that is asked in return is that CFC hold up their part of the bargain and start delivering some success in Europe. I also agree I have just paid out another £520 on my season ticket we need to keep on moving foward not standing still just because rangers are no longer on the SPL . But maybe lennon has a couple of players that he is going for but wants to keep it quiet not to alert other clubs .hail hail

Agree6 Disagree2

This is what we can look forward to

Agree3 Disagree2

Unfortunately this is a consequence of the Rangers debacle. No one will want to come to us certainly not if they're a decent player and being tracked by other clubs. Im absolutely gutted by that but lets not be blinkered here times have changed, we're no longer the pull we once were and unfortunately the vultures will be circling for our best players if the CL qualifiers dont go to plan.

Agree4 Disagree4

With this transfer strategy we could be seriously damaging our chances for even the Europa league! I'm disgusted by this we with the right investment could be the next Ajax/Porto of developing youth them performing on the largest stage of European football and selling for premium transfer fees but now were going to be seriously in the sh*t if we fail to qualify!pl has a lot to answer for as our defence has been ropey to say the least the last few seasons

Brian

Agree2 Disagree1

If we get in an experienced cb then it will be on the cheap. Celtic need to sign the younger players to sell them on for big profit. This is just the way we have to be, rather be a selling club than a Newco

Agree2 Disagree0

Spend, spend, spend. It's the only way. Hmmm let me think, was there not once another club in Glasgow who had that philosophy? Wonder what happened to them?

Agree3 Disagree3

Celtic have a good team, what is needed is a manager with a bit more savvy concerning European teams and their playing methods, if he would even ask for advice from an experiencied coach, but he won't, I don't support Celtic but I watch you in Europe and cheer you on

Agree6 Disagree2

Whilst I share the anger of the situation I cannot say I share the surprise of it.

We started the of game in December I'm sure, with 8or9 free transfers. We have needed to strengthen at the back and up front for three maybe four windows and done naff all gutsy.

Needed a ch, got big dan- didn't work out so we got Wilson and kaddouri, never worked out. Needed a striker, nearly had baba- we got bawsak. Freddie?

There's a definite trend there and that's when our selling point included a minim of four games in a world renowned derby.

I'm afraid unless Lennon has went crackers after last nights game we will not, again, show imagination in the market,i.e. Speculating to accumulate. They didn't before so why now?

Jamie Mac(should only be looking at ourselves)

I've got to laugh. "rangers would spend", "I'm disgusted at PL decison" etc. Lets be clear. Rangers would have spent. Thats why they went bust. This is not a PL decison. He's an employee of Celtic and runs the club to the remit of a PLC and with DD's ultimate influence. In other words, he must ensure we dont get into difficulty. PL and DD are Celtic fans. This is not simply a lack of ambition or just holding back because the SPL could be easy without RFC. When people suggest this they ignore the ambitons the likes of DD have for Celtic and that they are fans also. You would think they were trousering the cash. This is the harsh reality of our finances. Our squad was far too big and despite moves to address that there remains fat to be cut. This leads to an over inflated wage bill and ultimately to losses. We have a manageable debt it will probably have risen and it can easily become a burden if not correctly handled. I understand the argument that buying a couple of players gets you CL and £15m quid so its worth it. The problem with that is that a couple of players might cost a few million and increase the wage bill but they bring no guruntees. We could still go out. Show me the centre half that would have saved us last night and I'll show you the best player who ever lived. Add to this the doubts surrounding the Sky deal & the loss of the two home games against Rangers (worth around 1.5m to CFC) along with the recession the impact this has on merchendising, and, potentially season ticket sales, and you can see why we're cautious. I really hope we can do some business, I agree we need to, but none of us is tasked with balancing the books and surely it doesnt take an expert to see that times are tough. On the flip side, if we can reduce the squad, keep ticket sales up and perhaps make a large sale (ki) then we should be in a good position. CL on top of this would make that healthy. But its all ifs! Paul

Agree, but celtic HAVE always been a selling club, ffs they tried to sell JIMMY MCGRORY TO Arsenal but the great CELT REFUSED,THEY SOLD DALGLISH,HAY,MACARI,MCCLAIR,NICHOLAS,MCGEADY,FFS SOME OF YOU t**tS WANT TO EDUCATE YOUR SELVES IN OUR HISTORY, IT DIDNT START WITH HENRIK,SELL THE EFFIN LOT AND DO AN AJAX RATHER FRASER THAN ROGNE,RATHER WATT THAN STOKES,RATHER MCGEOGH, THAN IBRAHIM.....HAIL,HAIL...jimthetim....

Agree2 Disagree3

NL quoted as saying that he will be signing at least 1 CD next week. But he is hoping to have 2/3 in before close of the end of the window

Agree1 Disagree2

Its not a consequence of the team that used to be rangers, it is celtics insistence on staying just ahead. celtic will be very lucky to reach group stages , due to short sightedness, go and spend a few mill on a playmaker with a bit of guile and a good ball playing centre half, that is what should happen, but won't. nothing to do with the ex other half of the old firm, merely the short sightedness of the board

Agree1 Disagree2

Jimthetim CALM DOWN!. All clubs are selling clubs if the right price is met. The likes of Paul McStay or Ryan Giggs are few and far between. If we make good profits out of some of our players, that's good business. With regards of bringing new players in, it may be that a lot of the players we have targeted don't want to play in the SPL. This is nothing to do with the board being short sighted but a sad fact that our league is p*ss poor. Hbhoy

Agree1 Disagree1

Jim the tim-If i remember correctly,Dalglish,Hay, Macari,Mc Clair, Nicholas Mc Geady all instigated their move from CELTIC.

You made your bed now lie in it, scottish football is screwed for a good few years. celtic will get beat by Helsinki. rumour has it players are now put off as there is now OF and practically no chance of CL.

My heart bleeds.

ed,,is the reason for the nl statement that targets have said they wont come unless we have cl football ? as i dont believe nl and pl are not trying to bring players in order to balance the books ,and the cb position is one we cant afford to get wrong again as anyone we bring in has got to be better than the others we have , who do all the other posters suggest we should go for ,,,deep river bhoy {Ed007's Note - No DRB, it was just something I suggested as I can't see any reason for not signing the players we need.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Look what happened to rangers but. We don't want to go down that road. Hopefully we can sell ki and get a cb in ASAP

Agree2 Disagree0

See what your meaning with players wanting cl football clarity but we really need a bit of class in defence that boy ciani said he would welcome a move so we already balanced the books enough for him alone with selling Juarez and getting rid of all the old books if it's true what Celtic are saying I believe they have done it to us again but IMO I think it's the rangers situation that pl has decided we might squeeze into cl groups and that's it guaranteed money and knowing we won't progress with the spl all but tied up for a few years I'm a bit gutted by lack of ambition from the board what do yous think ?
