Good result today and pass marks for the team ( not sure about playing efa and right back but got away with it today ) the only thing that concerned me today, and last week, was Hoopers 'celebration' he looks very disinterested and, IMO, doesnt want to be here but is going out and being a professional but thats it.......whats your thoughts?

JGD

Believable5 Unbelievable9

My thought is you contradicted yourself! Ambrose, who's still to win me over, played right back because we never had anymore cover! But your "only" concern was hoopers celebration! If that was your "only" concern why mention Ambrose? The nxt time Ambrose scores and celebrates by doin 3 instead of 5 backflips, will you be so concerned?

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

Gary Hooper just can't win can he? He doesn't score so he's not interested heads not right bla bla bla. Scores two but doesn't celebrate enough, talk about over analysing I am still hopeful the board will pull out all the stops and keep Hooper at the club.Ian L

Agree1 Disagree0

'Bigbadjohn' I think you need to calm down before you hurt yourself. I stand by my comment that the only concern I had was Hoopers celebration. Ambrose playing at right back isn't one for a 2 very good reasons, Lustig and Mathews. He was a stop gap today nothing more. There should be no reason to have any more than 2 top players for one position. Do you think we now need 3 right backs? really?

Ian L - I'm not saying that Hooper doesn't deserve the best contract we can possibly afford ( if he goes I'll need to replace my sons top as he's got Hooper on it! ) all I'm saying is that, IMO, he isn't showing the passion that scoring a goal for Celtic should bring, maybe I'm over thinking this but, as I said, thats just my opinion and if I had ever been lucky enough to score for Celtic I think you would have had to get the emergancy services to get me down from the main stand!!

JGD

Agree0 Disagree0

AGAIN, it wasnt your "only" concern! Because you mentioned Hooper and Ambrose! You've now went on to say " do we really need 3 right backs"...? Naw no really lol but he played there because our other2 were injured! Somebody's got to slot in, Today Ambrose was the option, he might play there again on wed ( doubt it) but ye never know? I get what your saying but you also asked for thoughts! You've contradicted yourself twice.. Never mind a 4-0 win with players playing out of position... Quality :)

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

I think once we got goin the team was brilliant, the only negative was emilio left us a bit exposed at the back a few times n allowed ross county in behind but other than that it was a great win

Hooper shud be offered the top pay bracket he defo deserves it, even if its just for another year if he keeps up well get at least 10 mill for him

Agree1 Disagree1

In my opinion neither Hooper or Wanyama play like they want to leave. They both look like they enjoy their football here & have a great rapport with the rest of the team. Its a strange one for me..

Agree2 Disagree0

We'll no get any where near 10 million for him. too dependant on his right peg. a 10 m finisher in the prem will be confident of the 1st time shot on either foot, and wont be scared to fly in with the head either. aye he got 2 free headers 2day, but goalscorer in any league, in any level(amateur, junior, pro) would be expected to do ethe same

Samson

Agree0 Disagree0

Its very rare Hooper gets over excited when he scores, not just yesterday. Thats just the way he is, how many badge kissers have we had in the past who got no where near the length of Hoopers service? Lets just enjoy a top quality striker, while we have him instead of picking holes in everything he does. Meastro8

Agree0 Disagree0

Hooper was immense yesterday, best man on the park by a mile and not even playing in his natural position. Our best player IMO and irreplaceable. Offer him the best contract we can.............martyc1888

Agree0 Disagree0

Re samson so a 10m premier finisher will be confident of of the 1st time shot with either foot, somebody had better tell 35m
andy carroll, balotelli and all the other multi
-million pound strikers in the epl who dont score as many goals as their value would suggest.jimbhoy.

Hooper , scores 2, sets up 2. What more does he need to do? Next week he will draw a blank and the snipers will be out again.

Joeshmo1888

Believable14 Unbelievable1

I really rate hooper. i dont understand why he would take a gig at a lower premier club than a new contract at celtic . i know money is important but so is your your profile. he is a great sniffer of goals and we dont hav anyone like him if he goes. lassad and sammi great players but not a hooper. mowbray knows to his cost what happens when u replace a poacher like he did when he sold skippy and got fortune. hoopers record against the old them is probably better average than henriks.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nobody is disputing the fact he can be a great player. its the stalling on the contract. he looks as if he is using us as a stepping stone to the epl. we wish he would make his mind up so we can start scouting for a replacement. .H.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great point Joeshmo 1888. I know you've agreed with me before about Hooper. I think he is a fantastic striker, and he is getting better every game, your right he will prob not score next week and the snipers will be out in force saying his heads not right, he's not interested anymore...I put a post on earlier in the day about Hooper, feel free to have a read. Ian L

Agree0 Disagree0

Hooper is a ten million pound player and I hope we keep him. I have always been a fan. SopotCelt

Agree0 Disagree0

Henrik had a 1.2 ratio for us over 7 years arriving at 26 from the eredivise as an established swedish international ,hoops arrived from L2 in england aged 22 two year ago and has an of 1.5 ratio ,,,,,deep river bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I was talking about old firm games.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gary Hooper isn't even on the same planet as Henrik Larsson mate. Can't even be mentioned in the same breath. Doesn't work anywhere near as hard as, can't head the ball anywhere near as good as, and isn't even close to being as brave as Henrik Larsson! to name just a few things.

Maybe judge the old firm goal ratio comparisons by how many games we won off the back of they're goals.

Hooper is a good poacher thats all i can really say about the guy to be honest. He put it about when he first signed but since he has had links away from Celtic i can't remember him going in where it hurts once. Never been his biggest fan but at the same time always got behind the lad and always delighted when he scores for us. I think to sum it up, i think he is a good player but not a fantastic one and i wouldn't be devastated if he moved on for anything over 5.5 million.

Agree1 Disagree1

This boy has improved season on season with his overall game getting better ,he is only24 and will imo opinion get better, people are getting at him for wanting away and not signing a new contract but remember forster was getting the same bile before he signed so we dont know what will happen, at the same stage of his career was larsson considered world class? feynoord where even playing him as a winger and not a regular starter ,time proved he was could this not be the case with hooper , if he does leave in this window and we are left with lassad and miku would you be happy with that,,,deep river bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Cards on the table....I would expect our top striker to score against Ross County at home and his total SPL goals is now only 7 for the season. Obviously the absence of Stokes is a factor, but his body language and contract stalling and desire to play for England is affecting him too. I like and rate Hooper, but NL/Celtic have developed him and given him CL football (which he would never have got with Scunthorpe) and I think he should show some loyalty and commit for a mutually agreed period and focus.

JJ

Agree0 Disagree0

Deep river bhoy Larsson at 24 was a better player than Hooper is now if that's what you where asking me. He was a seasoned international for Sweden, had done well in Sweden and got a move to a big league (eredivisie is far better technically than ours) he had initially scored goals for Feyenoord before losing form and then they started playing him on the wing now and then. Hooper just hasn't got the talent that Henrik had mate. Watch the Larsson DVD again and some of the stuff he done at Feyenoord before they sold him. They made a balls up end of story. And when you ask would I be happy if Hooper went and we were left with lassad and Miku you must mean Stokes and Tony Watt because they are our No.2 and 3 strikers in my opinion. And if they were selling Hooper you and I both know they would already have identified a replacement and we would have someone signed for the champions league.

As for hooper, he isn't even celebrating goals anymore which tells me even though he is being professional, he's just not enjoying it as much as he should be and isn't completely happy. Now I don't know about the rest of you, but that winds me up more than anything else because I would give my left arm to be in his position playing centre forward for Celtic and he isn't even enjoying it. Give him his move to the premiership, he has been a good servant to the club and I wish him well but he will never, ever play for a bigger club than us and it will be all down hill from here. I would bet my house on it.

Agree1 Disagree0

Who sticks out in my mind. Jinky of course Bobby Lennox ( who to my mind does not get enough credit) big Yogi and KD. then later the maestro Paul McStay not a striker I know but he played with everything never gave up and was the jewel at a pretty terrible time for us with some pretty poor players. Then the three amigos... Di Canio a mad crazy bad genius with the heart of a lion. What a player! seeing him live was something else. Cadette also under rated and that big soft lad Pierre who hit free kicks from 30 yards without a bend and often rattled them into the top corner. All these guys way ahead and most streets ahead of Gary Hooper. Now to Henrik. The guy was a superstar. Tireless worker, was a team player could hit a free kick and make a pass. Could score with his left or right peg and a great header of the ball. He never complained. Broke his jaw putting his head in where it hurts. Broke his leg in one of the worst injuries I ever saw. I really thought he was finished. What does the guy do? Battle back to fitness and score a hat trickin the last game of the season. He never complained and has only ever said good things about Celtic. My only criticism of him and its not about playing is that he did not come back. I am sure he would have been welcomed back after a few years and the little matter of helping Man U win the premiership and a CL winners medal with Barca in his locker. He made assists on both Barca goals after coming on as a sub if anyone needs reminding. He also got to the semi of the World Cup with Sweden when he was 22 or so . I think he scored 3 goals on the way. Anyway not having a go but Henke really should not be compared to good players as he was one of the best to wear a Celtic shirt 2 goals in the Uefa Cup final which I forgot to mention his header was sublime. Hooper is a good player sometimes I would say he gets to the very good category but that's as a striker. HL was a real footballer. There is a world of difference in those descriptions. The one way in which they do seem to be very similar is that they are both strong willed and will not be persuaded to do that which they have set their minds on. Henrik openly admits he should have returned to Celtic when offered and its his one big regret. Hooper if he leaves prematurely will I think in the fullness of time also regret his decision. SopotCelt. Hail Hail Henrik.

Agree0 Disagree0

If he wants to move he can move. Celtic are a selling club don't know why people go on about loyalty etc. we'll get a good price for him and we'll develop somebody else. I'll certainly wish him all the best when he does leave.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think people are blind to hooper due to the contract situation. since ( and including)the 3 amigos only 4 players have scored more than hooper ,henrik sutton hartson and petrov (and if he doesnt go in jan he will overtake stan ), how long must players stay before getting hammerd for thinking about a move 6-7 years like henrik or stan two seasons like viduka and hooijdonk or a season like cadette, we also dont know whats on offer to the boy ,or are the club also stalling hoping for a bidding war as people on here keep saying we are a selling club buy cheap develop sell for massive profit, is this similar to dalgish and mgrain situation only with hooper and wanyama with the board wanting to sell one and not decided yet which one, so until its resolved look at what the boy is doing and has done and be gratefull we have him,,,deep river bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I agin wasnt comparing larsson to hooper. my point was that lik e hartson hooper has agood scoring record against rfc. thats all no comparison. just dont let your good players go thats all

Agree0 Disagree0

To say hooper isnt celebrating goals is ridiculous. is this the same **** going on at sevco. finding points in potential ex plyers so we can hav a go at them.

Decent display, eventually! Lack of concentration was frustrating at times, but i suppose the weather never helped although we were lucky not to go behind before we clicked. Best men? Hoops,Ambrose and Broony.Kayal seems to be better with every game.Is any body else a bit frustrated with Charlie? I have the utmost respect for the big guy and rate him,but every pass does not need to be a Hollywood ball.I find he gives up possession too easily sometime. That aside we done well, time to motor away and build up a lead in this league.Big congrats to every fan who made it today, that was bloody awful weather and freezing cold!........green jhedi

Ed - was Miku injured today? Just noticed he wasn't on the bench for today's game. Think he's better calling it a day a celtic park. Ian L {Ed007's Note - Miku was available for selection Ian.}

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Cheers for the info Ed. he possibly could have played his last game for us. Ian L {Ed007's Note - It wouldn't surprise me either.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought people on here would learn from not giving players a chance . sammi , kelvin wilson anyone? give miku a break .

Agree0 Disagree0

I think people are quite happy with the guy as a footballer. He isn't getting game time for reasons we may not all be being made aware. Not least that Celtic appear not to want to extend his loan period for financial reasons. If he had been rattling them in he would have stayed but he and CFC don't have that luxury as he is only a loan player. Ed continually says he does not like loan players and I must say I agree with him for many reasons. SopotCelt

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think Miku will be pulling the hoops on again. I really wanted this guy to flurish. Still hope he proves us wrong and gets his chance

MikeyBhoy88

I like miku but i dont think the guys get another chance with hooper bangin them in and lassad linking up well with hooper.

Great to see Scott Brown on the score sheet again today, I'll be honest I was not always a fan of Brown, but I love it when a player proves me wrong. He has been absolutely terrific for us for the last 12-18 Months. We are now seeing the young dynamic player we signed from Hibs. Once again Gary Hooper on the score sheet again 14th goal of the season, I'm Hooper's biggest fan, the form he's in at the moment I don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing for us. The more goals he scores the more attention is being drawn to him and with the transfer window due to open I just hope the guy who is in charge of this 23m I keep hearing about rubber stamps Gary Hooper's contract extension. Celtic hierarchal sources close to me reveal that John Park has identified the 'number 10' creative player that Neil Lennon, and his backroom staff, crave and that is Israeli Club Brugge midfielder Lior Refaelov. He is 26 years old, 5 ft 10 in, has 15 caps for Israel and has been at his current Belgium club for the past 18 months. He joined them for approximately £2.2million and would cost us approximately £3.0-3.5million in January. With the vast millions we've generated from the Champions League and Ki Sung Yeung, Peter Lawwell is willing to finance this deal. You heard it here first.

Cant see us paying that for a non blue chip signing...........green jhedi

Quality player. Hope you're right.

Agree0 Disagree0

We tried to get him before he went to Brugges about the same time we signed Kayal. We didn't want him then... Why now then?

Where we not interested in him when we signed kayal? ,,,,deep river bhoy

Apparent interest in him this time last season when he was at maccabi Haifa?! We didn't pay the 1.5mil then, can't see us paying double now!?

Why would we have tried to sign him before he went to Brugges if we didnt want him then?
