Does anyone know who Celtic are playing in pre season friendlies, in England. I live in the south of England and it's not so easy to get to see them as often as i'd like. P. K.

I know Hooper & Wanyama are probably offski in the summer, however out of the two I would probably say we've got a better chance of keeping hold of Hooper. If we did sign him up for another couple of years I would take my hat of to the Celtic board as I think that would be better than any signing we would make in the transfer window. Hooper's goals for Celtic over the last 3 years have been so important to our success. My fear is if he does go the chances are we won't sign anyone who can fill his boots. I would hate to see us signing another Venagoor of Hesselink or Fourtune. Fair enough Hooper has not been at his best over the last few months, let's tally up his goals at the end of the season, as that's what he gets paid for. Neil Lennon knows how important Gary Hooper is to Celtic and I agree with the manager 100% always have done.

Believable8 Unbelievable7

Big Jan was class!

Agree3 Disagree0

Hesselink was a good player he scored some very important goals and he always seemed to do something in the big games. he ain't no larsson but he was not a flop

Agree2 Disagree0

Hooper hasn't been at his best, that is true. But he is still twice the player Stokes is.

Joeshmo1888

Agree0 Disagree2

Hooper WILL go and JONNY RUSSELL is yer man! SIMPLES! Everyone's a winner!

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope hooper stays as he garuntees us goals but if he does go i'd like to see us move for Adam la fondre or Kevin Doyle

Bman

Agree0 Disagree0

JVH did not score enough goals for me, the point I was making is that we've not had an all round striker like Hooper for a long time. Ian L

Agree0 Disagree2

I like johnny russell. But to say he's the man to replace hooper is utter nonsense, itd be a step back,. ,. kbarry

Agree0 Disagree1

Hooper is certain to go with his contract up next year, Wanyama I think will stay for 1 more season. I can see us moving for a striker not many of us will have heard of to replace Hooper.

Garry

Agree0 Disagree0

With all due respect - how the F**£ can you possibly compare Big Jan and Hooper?!
JVH was a target man. He was a F*^£ing good one at that! He played alongside McDonald - who is a more similar type to Hooper - so you could possibly draw comparison there.
For some reason (Motherwell 2 goals?) McDonald seems to divide opinion - I loved the 2 of them as a partnership and thought we did miss wee Skippy when he left - great wee player and signing IMO.
Anyway I digress, back to Hooper. If you asked me at the start of the season I would have hated to see Hooper go. There are a lot of factors to take into consideration but honestly, I don't think now, that he would be that big a loss.
He is a good player and will perhaps go onto good things.
But, if he cannot commit to the club by saying 'I'm staying and signing' - then cheerio. Been down this road before with better players than Hooper.
And anyway - a new centre-forward brings a new dynamic to the team and more interest for the fans.
But if he says he wants to stay then fine. Its actually not that big a deal for me - its if our midfield losses a few and also wee Mathews - for me he would be a huge loss. He really is turning into a great player - all the focus is on the bigger 'names' leaving.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have heard a rumour that Vic is going to stay for another year unless silly money in excess of 17mil is offered. I have also heard Hooper is going to sign an extention to his contract. But the player we will lose is Sammi

Agree0 Disagree0

I have also heard big vic wants to stay another season and will sign an improved contract to get us the big transfer fee after next season. I just hope that turns out to be the case. maccabhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Kbt - how can you compare Jvh and Hooper. I'll try and break it down for you my man. They are both strikers, both paid to score goals at the end of the day. Jvh didn't score enough goals for me for 3.8m we paid for him, John Hartson was a target man as was Chris Surton, big Hesselink couldn't lace any of their boots. Gary Hooper is more than just a poacher he is an all round striker, in the next few years in my opinion we will be calling little scat mcdanild from Australia a poor mans Gary Hooper. Ian L

Right guys, what's the crack with these cup final tickets then?

Celtic saying tickets will be allocated to season ticket holders based on attendance at previous away matches.

Some people saying those season ticket holders that attended the SF are guaranteed a ticket.

What's really going on?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

It's not just away game's it's cup games. If you have been to most cup games this season then you should be ok for a ticket

Agree0 Disagree0

They will be sold on a "first come (prem ejak)
first kicked basis fae,
"wee pats tiket ootlit sarrie st posso oan fri comin 12 pronto
(ranjurs fans must be accompanied bae a ceo)

Agree0 Disagree0

They usualy go to the people who have attended the cup games throughout the season and rightly so in my opinion. The guy's who go to paradice on a wednesday night against raith, falkirk or whoever and also away from home should be getting 1st crack at them. m

Agree0 Disagree0

I phoned celtic ticket office and they said its nothing to do with previous cup tickets all season ticket holders are in a ballot and will be contacted by letter if they are successful

Neil Lennon praised Hooper, Samaras and Ledley after yesterdays performance. I think this is a nice touch but quite unusual in to praise individual players after the team just won the league. I have a feeling this may have been Neil publicly praising these players as all three are moving on in the summer. We know Hooper is almost certainly but would love Ledley to stay and even Samaras. What do you all think?

Believable6 Unbelievable8

Thought he gave Sammy a special hug and a mention I think it looked like goodbye to me

Agree0 Disagree2

Tbh a found it strange aswel that he singled they 3 out considering the players lenny plays week in week out as in mulgrew, izzy, wanyama, commons who i'm has been player of the season for us and wilson whos defo got 2 be most improved player and they didn't get a mention so maybe could have been a goodbye for the 3 with ledley I done a past a few weeks ago sayin that when cardiff got promotion that a felt ledey would want a crack at the permiership with em its the team he supports and hooper looks away aswel who knows about sammy so u could be spot on mate

GunnieBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I personal think Lennon does have his Favourites the players that he always defends Sammy, Charlie, Hooper, Forest these players have been very inconsistent this season hopefully new players coming in at the end of the season will give them all a kick up the arss and they will know there not assured a starting place!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we are reading too much into this, they were after all the 3 goalscorers

Agree2 Disagree0

He also praises Mulgrew, Commons Kayal, Wanyama and Wilson just after it so are they going to? I think it was just as he mentioned they were the goal scorers so were grouped together!

Agree0 Disagree0

Lenny hugged his wife/partner at the final whistle and praised his family. are they leaving him, also?

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe because they scored the goals.

also like to point out its not the end of the season yet so why would anyone be saying goodbye

Agree0 Disagree0

Commons scored aswel didn't see him getting a mention always the no name posters startin the sh1t

GunnieBhoy

Agree0 Disagree2

OP "even samaras" mate samaras is one if not our main player, he's the player known in other countries as he's heavily capped by greece who make most tournaments,. ,. kbarry

Agree1 Disagree1

Commons didn't score on Sunday.

If Hooper does leave, what are the chances of getting Adam le Fondre? Unhappy at Reading, and wouldn't be out of our price range.

Believable3 Unbelievable9

Great shout. We should have got him a couple of years ago, but I would take him now. Ebanks-blake from wolves is a free agent in the summer too. worth a punt if the current crop leave.
Dungannon Celts

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah, only 26 and would score for fun up here.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes to Alfie. Wouldn't take Ebanks-Blake

Believable1 Unbelievable7

22 Apr 2013 15:02:19
Who, realistically, do you think we can sign in the summer? I'd like to see Will Hughes from Derby, but even as a youngster would he be out of our price range?

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Given we're a top 16 European club, there's lots of excellent players out there would be very interested.

Agree0 Disagree0

If stoke go down i'd love us to sign huth, not sure what wage he'd expect though. kevslug.

Agree0 Disagree0

Neil Lennon said at the weekend we have a wage structure and he will have to stick to it!
That means we can rule out any EPL players so forget Huth mate!
I think Lennon will be given money maybe the 10million mark but I think he will be made to trim the squad first.
I can't see any big name players coming in it will more likely be a quality player from a smaller European league i'm sure Lennon and Park have earmarked a few gems that most of us have never heard of but will have very bright futures ahead of them he also said he would spend 4million on 1 players so surely that means some sort of quality. I can also see us raiding United for Russell and Mackay-Stevens.

I've mentioned this already, but we should look at 2 or 3 guys in the KRC Genk squad (currently in the Jupiler League play offs). Genk clearly have the same scouting philosophy we do, and they have 2 or 3 big fast athletic guys who would be ideal additions to our squad. They sign from Scandinavia (like us), Africa (like us), Israel (like us) and even have a kenyan (like us). Both Mbodj (Senegalese in the wanyama role) and Koulibali (huge centre back, played France U20) would be good additions to our squad - and are young enough to be sold on at attractive prices. Allen Nyom (big CB from Granada is another we might want to look at - recently picked for cameroon). Eric Tié Bi at Evian Thon Gaillard is another - wanyama role - Ivorian but no caps yet - playing for Celtic would probably catapult him into the national side - came through the superb youth system at Lyon - 6'2'' and physical. Another who could be sold on for good money. The key thing for me is, that we need the nex wanyama. now. Before Vic leaves. Jean-Pierre Laguerre.

Samaras has been linked with a move to Cardiff city on a 3 year deal. He is said to go for around £7.5 million

Believable3 Unbelievable32

I'd carry him there for that. He's been reasonable this past season or so but certainly not irreplaceable.

Yatesy88

Agree0 Disagree2

I doubt they would pay that much for him, however if they did I would bite their hand of for that amount of money. Yes he has had a good season and been excellent in europe for us but 7. 5 would be to good to turn down.
Davie c

Agree0 Disagree0

Some how I don't see it. But if we were to sell him and get anywhere near that then we've won a watch.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow, I wonder who else cardiff will buy from celtic? how about nobody. lazy rags, ex celt is manager, a few celtic players played for cardiff so must be aching to go back to the overhyped epl which they will be lucky to remain in for longer than 1 season, pathetic really, who's nect, it was ledley yesterday, who will it be tomorrow?

Agree0 Disagree0

One of our most important players in europe. would want to keep him. if we would sell him then hopefully really for that amount.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow! It's amazing you know the exact details of the deal! Can you tell me on what day it's going to be completed as well?

Complete and utter nonsense! Samaras will not leave Celtic and even if he were to, he would most certainly not go to Cardiff!

Agree0 Disagree0

The price is a nonsense. The move isn't that unrealistic to be honest, but mind you we have tried to sell Sami twice in the past only for him to say he's going nowhere haha. I would carry him on my back to Cardiff for anything over 3.5 million.

Agree0 Disagree0

7. 5 is a bit on the low side I watched him in Gdansk at the Euros V Germany. Anytime he went near the ball there were at least 2 German defenders on him sometimes 3 and I am not exaggerating. The TV did not show how good, he was as I saw the highlights later that night. And remember he scored the equalizer before Germany got annoyed and scored 3 more! I said that night he was worth 5 mill of anyones money. As one of the posters alluded to the inflated overhyped EPL and after his performances there and also in the CL he must be worth 10m. In any case he loves Celtic and he is going nowhere anytime soon. Sopotcelt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why don't we sell the whole team. i'm sick of hearing about this one and that one leaving. i'm sure a lot of our players will still be there next season KL

Agree0 Disagree0

Samaras IS worth £7.5m. Just as he has done fantastically for Celtic in Europe, as he would do for Cardiff in the EPL, Samaras gives us an option with his pace, height and width to open an avenue against a dominant, pressing opposition and he can keep hold of the ball too. However I can't see anybody paying what he's worth. He falls in to the same bracket as a few Celtic players in 'would we actually get the money they're actually worth to us?' i. e, Ledley, Brown, Commons.

Seems our players tee shirts have upset some peepul. So job done then!. green jhedi

Believable15 Unbelievable3

I didn't get that, maybe I am missing the complete obvious but I thought it was because we won the title in 2013, hence the reason everyone was wearing number 13 on the back of the title winning T-shirt. Was that not the reason?

EOJBHOY

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't make them out. What did they say?

Agree0 Disagree0

The clue in OP's comment is "peepul". The shirts said "Celtic. Always have been. Always will be".

Agree0 Disagree0

I seen a banner in the tunnel saying "always have been, always will be". if a sevconian can read a whole sentence then this may make them a little upset

Agree0 Disagree0

TBH I thought initially quite humorous. but I think we have a bot more class that simple cheap shots. justice will be done. I hope.

Agreed Green Jedhi. Stuff them. NL said it right about the game and long season and even thanked the GB for what they brought to the atmosphere at Celtic Park.
Waiting for the "tainted title brigade to start. Jealousy is a terrible thing. We go from strength to strength they go from disaster to disaster. Hail Hail

@Sailorbhoy

Can't agree with you there although I can see your point. For me it was the perfect riposte to all the "rangers then, rangers now, rangers forever" pesh.
