Innocent emeghara 24 year old Nigerian born Swiss striker currently playing for Siena has been targeted by celtic very quick striker capable of doing a job I believe . Source: newspaper

What is he the 4th or 5th choice on the list, pathetic should have got finnborgason .

Agree1 Disagree0

The lad has been offered to Newcastle. He another who won't come.

Agree0 Disagree0

Iv not heard of the boy but u get the feeling is it another bangura 1 good season but I won't judge until iv seen any signings play its only fair

SOS BHOY

Agree1 Disagree0

John Park seemingly said Finnborgason was not worth the money after watching him. Mr Park has picked up some great talent and I would listen to him rather than some of the rabid ranting that messrs Lennon and Lawell are having to put up with!!!

Agree1 Disagree0

It was John Park who identified Finnbogason in the first place now all of a sudden he doesn't rate him. Funny how this John Park quote just happens to leak out after we get beat in the CL qualifier and elimination is a very real possibility, how very convenient for Peter Lawell.

Open your eyes mate, Lawell is trying to take the supporters for mugs. again. This little revelation is him trying to dodge the flack because his blinkered and inflexible signing policy may have just cost the club tens of millions.

Agree0 Disagree0

The boy just signed for livorno about an hour ago

Agree0 Disagree0

I found that John Park statement - if it's true, and it came from Celtic - hard to take myself. I'd personally rather have honesty and for someone to come out and say "look, we like the guy, but we don't want to break the wage structure" or "we don't want to spend this much on one player" instead we're getting spin that, all of a sudden, the guy's not good enough. Yeah right. It may be that he doesn't want to come, but, as we've not had a bid accepted, then do we know this for sure? JC

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair enough it was a rumour in the paper and as usual desperate for a new signing I jumped right in .

Celtic better get a move on there is only ten days left. Tick tock.

Strange that Schalke were not willing to deal with Celtic for Pukki because of an injury to Huntelaar when tonight he only makes the bench . I also see that Fingaboson has rejected an improved offer from Herneeven . DH

Believable12 Unbelievable1

He came on so that's that pumped

Agree0 Disagree0

He got 3mins if them and a big IF wee qualify he will be cup tied a think its got tae be 5million for finny bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

If Napoli are serious about signing Finn they will blow us out the water, way the money they've got, honestly think we should have tied him up weeks ago he's banging in the goals now PK1888

Agree0 Disagree0

PK1888 HE didn't want to come, how do you make him sign then?
Tambhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

How did he not want to come? Our bid for him was knocked out, so we couldn't have spoken to the player! And the player that didn't want to come was the lad from Bremen(spellin). As for pukki he wouldn't be cup tied for CL if we signed him, u re-register players for group stages.

S {Ed007's Note - He will be cup-tied if Schalke 04 qualify for the group stages. Another club can only register a player that has played in qualifiers if his team team fails to qualify.}

Not 100% sure but a source is saying pretty definitely that Celtic if they qualify and hopefully they do that Jelavic will be a loan deal for a year. Tbh heard this voiced on this site before and if he doesn't figure in Evertons plans at the moment would not be out of the bounds of possibility. Its the type of deal they might do and maybe spend the money on another striker and a decent defender. Any thoughts know he wouldn't be that popular but hey we obviously can't be that eager to spend or surely we would have had more attempt at signing one of the strikers that were on the radar.

Believable9 Unbelievable20

It doesn't bother me in the slightest that he played for Rangers, that's not what would bother me.

(1) I do not want our main CF to be a loan signing

(2) Jelavic is a good striker but everywhere he goes, he seems to have some kind of attitude problem going on. Remember he went on strike at Rapid Vienna?

Mrs E

Agree4 Disagree2

Dunno how true this is but I would take jellyfish he's a good striker would have liked celtic to get him in before he went to the dark side though but we all make mistakes as spiderman say's everybody get's one

Agree0 Disagree1

Doesnt figure in evertons plans that's why he started at weekend

Rangobango

Agree1 Disagree0

Please EDs can we ban the word LOAN. In my world it means SAD LITTLE CLUB. GIVE ME A LENNOXTOWN GRAD.ANYDAY. al geri . {Ed007's Note - I 100% totally agree with you on that. I despise the fact a club of our size and resources loans in players. It's money down the drain, I have been saying it on here for years.}

He started at the weekend so he's in their plans and I doubt he would come to Celtic.

Agree0 Disagree0

Indeed he did start a the weekend, it mighht also be pointed out that he has started teh vast majority of Everton's preseason games. Also if he had not been, he would still be kept for cover for Kone. Everton don't have a big squad. they won't be letting him go.

Agree0 Disagree0

No thanks, I don't want him.

Fran

Agree0 Disagree0

I would say yes. He is a goalscorer and we need one. He can also play in Europe too and has proven himself at that level. Whether he played for the enemy is neither here nor there. It has no bearing whatsoever. Miller played for them before he came to us and he fitted in rather nicely at Paradise when he turned up. I'm sure the Jelly Fish would do likewise. Somewhere in the region of 90 goals in around 250 games at a decent level is not a bad set of stats, but somehow I don't think it's going to happen so perhaps not worth dwelling on too much folks.

ED007 what about a Poll to judge fans reaction to Lawwell and the board have they let us Celtic fans down by not investing in the team? Timalloy {Ed007's Note - I have put two new polls up Tim.

Has Peter Lawwell let the fans down by not investing more money in the team?
www.celticrumours.co.uk/poll12.html

Who is to blame for last night's defeat in Kazakhstan?
www.celticrumours.co.uk/poll13.html

Believable4 Unbelievable8

21 Aug 2013 19:24:22
Thanks ED007, two polls for the price of one lol
I think most fans now agree we should have not let anyone leave until replacements were on board or until they helped us qualify for CL.
Most Celtic fans agree Lawwell has been (mostly) a good servant for Celtic. But he must learn he cannot ask top dollar on the one hand for Celtic players, then try and sign players on the cheap.
As for last night I think Lennon got his tactics all wrong and the players also thought all they had to do was turn up, some players are living off past exploits.
We knew this team would be good in the air and we failed to deal with this aspect, again down to a mixture of poor coaching and players not doing their jobs properly. Timalloy

Agree1 Disagree1

Peter Lawwell and our manager/coaching staff are all responsible. I haven't enjoyed the football we play for years-usually we get to about 4/5 passes before play breaks down, on Tues we were losing possession after 3 passes. I said last night that it was like a Wimbledon v Luton game from the 80's and I stand by that. Mulgrew is never a midfielder, certainly not in the same team as ledley-far too workmanlike, and even at that they look a yard off the pace. Even when we had Wanyama our midfield was too similar, how long does it take to get anything done? Our manager has to stand up to PL and if he isn't allowed to sign quality then tell the fans instead of us all sitting like persons waiting. For eg we were told about a year ago that we wanted cover for left back-still waiting. Even 1 very good centre half would be nice, instead of our 4-6 poor to average ones, a midfielder who can control a game and actually pass the ball. I don't usually bother with the AGM'S but I'll certainly be going this year regardless of the result on Wed because there is something far wrong with the vision/thinking! If the money we had brought in was getting spent on Lennoxtown for eg, and making it the world class facility Tommy Burns was told it was going to be then fine, I wouldn't mind that, or putting money into worldwide scouting/youth development, it's the fact we are told nothing other than we are trying to bring in players, but it's not as easy as you think! That was a belter. Paul

We have spent thank you 7.5 mill on 3 player give them all time

Hi guys, first time poster, like all celtic fans I cannot believe what happened last night, I still think we have a real chance of making it through, I don't think we can play as badly again and equally I think shaktar can be any better than they were last night, I understand why no big money signings have been made but in my opinion maybe we should have spent some money on a striker, maybe a billy McKay, Leigh griffiths or even scott McDonald again, someone that knows where the goals are.thoughts? Graeme67 {Ed007's Note - Welcome to the site Graeme.}

Believable6 Unbelievable10

I could believe it, we just sold the spine of our team who would all have played.weve known for months they leaving ok mb got 1in for Wilson but leaving it this late is shocking.we didn't play well against elfsborg and got away with it. Celtic owe the fans a big performance esp the 1s that travelled last nite. ajw

Ed what do you think if Forsters head has been turned I think we should sell and go for mattia perin from genoa only thing don't know how much they would want for him might be 4 - 5 mill

Hoopybhoy {Ed007's Note - I don't think Forster's head has been turned by anything Hoopy. Perin would cost well in excess of £10 million though.}

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Wasn't too sure how much he would cost thought it would be up there though he's a great young keeper

Hoopybhoy {Ed007's Note - I have no doubt that he will become a top class GK Hoopy. According to his agent AC Milan, Arsenal and Barcelona are all very interested in him.}

Does anybody think that NL should try for Stephen Fletcher as he has been told he should find a new club if he can't comply with the new rules at Sunderland (no joking around at training )?

Paddy Malarkey

Believable11 Unbelievable12

Isn't he still out injured?

Agree0 Disagree0

I couldn't agree more - he knows the way to the back of the net and I bet he'd jump at the chance! Or what about Ross McCormack? I know he played for Rangers, but he's supposed to be a Celtic fan and he's in a rich vein of form right now.

Agree0 Disagree0

6 days ago Di Canio said he's happy with the progress Fletcher is making from a knee injury he got in march. won't be rushed back so think this could be filed under SH**E

Agree0 Disagree0

Decent player but wouldn't want him in the hoops, and I'm with di canio on this one, if a gas engineer came to your house joking around would u let him touch your boiler? NO! These guys are paid a fortune to train hard and give 100% for the club, if a player has to mess about to get through training henot for the club, I like to joke around and have a laugh but I'd want the team that I support to give 100% even if it is in training. Do u see the barca boys putting having a laugh infront of training hard? I doubt it, that's why they are so good training is number 1 as it gets u ready for match days I'm sure they have a laugh and a joke after training. {Ed007's Note - Are you George Graham?}

Lol, Barca, aye, no messing around boays, come and get your injections, the doctor is here this morning. Yes i'm saying they are all on drugs, that's why they are so good. pea {Ed007's Note - Google Messi and HGH Pea. It's ridiculous they have got away with all of that for so long. I would give my right ball to see them knocked off their pedestal by it all.}

Thanks Ed. I often wonder about their possible use of some kind of amphetimin-like substance. While we're at it, I notice Barca have come a long way from the recent "charitable" shirt sponsor, it seems to have morphed into Qatari Airways. Throw in the 2018 World Cup, a couple billion dollars or so for good measure, and you have to admit it's all a bit fishy. pea {Ed007's Note - I've had many an argument with friends over the subject Pea. The doctor at the centre of the Lance Armstrong 'scandal' has links to Barca, yet nobody is asking them for an explanation. You might be interested in reading this....

Ed, do you know how what kinda wages Fletcher is on? ~ Mrs E {Ed007's Note - He is on around £35k a week.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Ed, i'm a good friend of Fletchs and as far as i'm aware his wage is actually a lot closer to the 60-70k mark! Unfortunately way out of our price range. Really hope that last night opened the eyes of the board to the obvious facts that we need to buy some top quality players before the end of this window, CL or not! {Ed007's Note - Sunderland operate a wage cap at £50k a week.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Think Ross McCormack would be a good signing he's a tryer and defo knows we're the goal is plus he defo is a celtic fan I stayed near him in nitshill and when he came back from training with rankers youths he'd rip off the rankers tracksuit throw on a celtic strip then come skin all us oldys on the school red ash . they were the days hail hail cha67

We, missed fletcher, and if McCormacK who I QUITE like, is our limit, why not just CHUCK IT F.F.S. al geri, getting more depressed by the minute.

I've only managed a quick skim over that due to time, Ed, but that's the stuff. The Spanish national team as well, they are at the same stuff as Barca. Heightened mental ability like focus and awareness, aswell as heightened physical attributes, whatever it is they are giving these players - where does it stop? Murky waters indeed, a, ahem, "highly" interesting topic. Thanks again for the link. pea

Italian press reports claim that Celtic's search for a striker has led them to Switzerland international Innocent Emeghara. The 24-year-old Nigerian-born forward spent last season on loan with Siena from Lorient.

I'm going to Celtic Park. I never go to Parkhead. Think we have missed the boat with getting a good crowd in. The match is live on ssn and its not a freebie on the Season Ticket. Think we may struggle to get the crowd we need to back the team. Hope everyone realises this and comes along.

Agree1 Disagree0

Nope I stand by what I said a few weeks ago, I've not been happy with the way PL and NL have done things with regards to signing people, we have been promised investment and we always seem to be promised that before thay have to sell tickets. and don't mention the players we have signed, again we already needed those signings before the window opened. I've been spending my hard earned cash on CFC for the good part of 25-26 years, year in year out we are promised this kind of player and that kind of player every season, for us not to get our top 2 targets is laughable, we have lost the core of the team in vic, hoops and wilson last night was proof we missed all 3 of them. We have been spoon fed the old excuse about keeping the club afloat etc but looks like Peter Lawells gamble of waiting to see if we qualify is going to bite him in the backside as I feel its to much to ask of the current squad to pull it back, I'd like to ask Mr Lawell where all the fans money has gone to and where has the money from CL and sales of players gone to? And also why gamble on losing 20mil for the sake of spending 5 on our main striking target?
