£6million for the sale of Ki, almost £5million slashed from the yearly wage bill and £15million for reaching the Champions League (almost there!). It is time for Lawwell to get the cheque book out! £5.5million for Rhodes, £2.5million for henriksen and £2million for Ciani. Still up £10+million and with that team we should sail through the qualifiers next year! Let's take this opportunity to strengthen with both hands!

Good to hear a man talking a bit of sense,
well said mate.

Celticthomas

Agree1 Disagree0

Lets take this season to go as far as we can while blooding our young players in the spl ...........

Agree1 Disagree0

Rhodes is to expensive, probably Johnny Russell

Agree0 Disagree0

The exact same three player i have in mind/want! should hopefully have one or two of them signed up before the draws made for the CL GS. jonny russel and GMS from united wouldn't go a miss either maybe a 2 mil bid with them being loaned straight back to them for the season and loan murphy or bangura to them aswell

Agree0 Disagree0

Rhodes is notworth 5.5 million.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice one mate i'd be happy to let you take charge of our transfer policy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Musn't get carried away with all this overspending talk. We really need to imrove our squad I agree but put it into perspecvtive and spend with care. The two Dundee Utd boys Russell and Daly?

Agree0 Disagree0

Possibly Rhodes but i think we have good young players that can come through, and if we could just get a settled back four

Agree0 Disagree0

I think rhodes would be a great buy, if he came to us he would bang in the goals! and he is def worth 5.5 mil sure look at da goals e scored las year

Guys, a little calm is needed lol. We are givin the team a hard time coz we never played that great. So what we wud have bitten or chewed off a hand for that result. Can anyone recall a great 2-0 win away from home in europe, no me neither.
Yes Izzy cant defend and we need a CF and a CH.
But a question to you all, if you were Neil LEnnon and Mr Lawwell said to you, Neil you will prob get buttons to spend this season if no champs league money, or you can wait and if we get thro you will get 8- 10 mill to spend what wud you do. guys its a no brainer lol,Hail Hail

My choices wud be Russell, Rhodes,Exp CH and Henriksen as a bonus.

Fantastic substitution at half time by the manager. Even though we were 1-0 up it was plain to see it wasn't working. Thought Kayal was poor, did we not just give him a new deal? James Forrest was excellent when he came on, as I says credit to the manager for making the change so soon. Neil is showing that he is learning on the European stage. Ian L

Believable10 Unbelievable1

Why pick out a perceived weakness, a great result, lighten up !!

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree mate, change at halftime changed the game, thats what GOOD managers do ............

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair to kayal he has said on his twitter he asked to be taken off as he had a knock. So the change was forced on Lennon but he brought the right player on

what was ramon bhardwal(sp) referring to when he was talking about colourful language.i think i missed that?

MK BHOY

Believable0 Unbelievable8

I think it was Sutton saying "bollocking" that all I could hear that would even resemble an attempt at "colourfull language". He is obviously not to aware of that phrase.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sutton said that if sammy goes through and doesnt score then his boss would give him a bollocking

Agree0 Disagree0

Ocht big Sutty said "bollocking" referring to Lenny at Big Sammi, tut tut, brilliant bhoyz!

Agree0 Disagree0

Think it was when Lenny shouted " ****in hell Charlie" when Mulgrew let the striker run off him mate

Ice man

Agree0 Disagree0

Think he was refering to Sutty saying Bollicking. Not sure though. Cheeky Bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I am afraid that particular sport presenter is an amateur. How two intelligent football pros put up with his screeds of notes, repetitions and to top it off making fun of/ embarrassing them I will never know. Hasny anyone told him how hard Joe Jordan is?Ramon may be a nice guy but he is a pretty woeful presenter....bring back Pat Nevin!! Sopot Celt

Agree0 Disagree0

Bit of swearing could be heard on tv coverage. Obviously from other commentary

Agree0 Disagree0

Mulgrew got sucked out left near the touchline and someone from our bench shouted "f!k sake Charlie", nothing too severe lol

Only said what we were all thinking tonight bout Charlies performance at Centre lol

Jamie Mac

Agree0 Disagree0

Microphone was close to Celtic bench and a few choice words could be heard during the game. Hbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

MK BHOY, He is a muppet! He was probably told to say sorry for the language that was picked up from the pitch by the microphones (I heard Lennon and Hooper swearing). Think he has got mixed up....Again! How this guy is still on the telly I don't know.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lennon shouting at a player for not chasing back
FozzY

Agree0 Disagree0

He's the worst football presenter I've ever seen. He makes John Barnes on Channel 5 look like Des Lynam on Match of the day. Rank Rotten!

Big joe didn't look impressed when he showed him that clip of Gattuso head butting him then another of Gattuso shoving him in the face. Face was tripping him for the rest of the program.

Think him and Big Chris were having a competition to see who could do a better Reverend I M Jolly lol.

Some result tonight bhoys, I'm so proud of you's. One of the biggest matches Celtic have faced In years, it meant so much on so many levels. Financially, and for the development of the team and the manager. In a season when Scottish football has been constantly clouded with negativity because of what "the shame" has done to the game. Never more than now has it needed Celtic to get to the Champions League and we have all but done it. I know the tie isn't over yet but I'm 100% confident we will beat them at Celtic Park and keep a clean sheet into the bargain. Fantastic night, chuffed to bits. Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

I couldn't put up with Raman constantly tapping his cuban heels on the cheap studio floor so flicked over to ITV London who had the excellent Gordon Strachan and the not so excellent but acceptable Adrian Chiles. The studio had a carpet and the comentary was much better too!

Could not be happier with the commitment shown by the players tonight and the effort that they put in. Maybe not the most sparkling of performances, but sometimes you just have to dig results like that out. The lads have to stay grounded though as we have an important game against Inverness on Saturday. However, they now have the freedom to enjoy themselves next Wednesday evening and hopefully put on a spectacle. HH!

Yipe ,big Sam will be our European gem ...Will take back what I said about Kayal being back to his best ...Had a poor 45 ...wasnt alone thou ...Hooper was poor also not for the first time this season ....reminding me how Commons was this time last year ....A few £s almost in the kitty now so maybe that big target man and CB could be an option ....Lennons choices and changes seem to be working nicely at the minute ,so with him and his team still learning things are not looking too bad ...Hopefully a wee bidding war will surface for Kis services ,squeeze a few more pounds out of the interested parties ...TTTS

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Just because hooper didn't score doesn't mean he is off, I hate how ppl say he is not working when plenty of times he runs back in mod and defence to help out. His control and work along the lines was great and only add a goal to have a great game.

Agree0 Disagree1

Appoligies to Kayal and Hopper. Believe they were carrying injuries ... TTTS

Hopper was poor .... ? Wtf. ? He worked his socks off for the team for the full game.

I thought sammi was fine again last night, ok he is not going to get you 20 goals a season. but his off the ball and winning the ball in the air was second to none. ok i know he is frustrating but i think he will be one of our best players this season. ? HH

Jeeze that was weird! Could have been three one down at half time, but could have won by six!Still, gives us the chance to have a rockin old Celtic night in the return.Forster was outstanding,Broony kept the fight going and Rogne and Izzy came on to a game.I dont want to tempt fate but i thought Wilson done well when he came on.All in all it would be churlish to pick over things too much, lets enjoy it..........green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

Disagree, Izzy and Charlie were poor and caused us as much problems as the opposition. However can't complain at 2-0 away from home. If we progress to group stage buying a good CB is a priority. Hbhoy.

It's pretty clear they have targeted Sammi as the weak link.He seems to be leaving Izzy exposed on the outside although big Forster seemed to be letting him know.Hooper has been dreadful and i would have him off with Forrest on.That way we can play out balls into space as none of their defenders look pacy Big improvement needed here or this could get sticky..........green jhedi

Let's get one or two things straight. Once Ki's transfer to Swansea is completed, Celtic will not sell anyone else, no matter how glamorous the offers are. Anyone saying that Gary Hooper will leave is talking rubbish. Why on earth would Lennon sell his best striker to someone like Sunderland or Norwich? The other thing is that if we can produce a quality performance tonight against Helsingborgs, keep it tight at the back, make no silly mistakes and create plenty of chances, we will definitely win. They look a poor team at the moment and have been weakened more by the departure of their star striker Alfred Finbogasson.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

I think the post about the sale of hooper is from the dark side. Besides, if Hooper was for sale, you honestly the he'd want to go to a club that will NEVER play in Europe. There is a great chance of us progressing to the CL, who in there right mind would want to miss out on that, especially to a team that will be in a relegation battle.

Agree0 Disagree0

We should not be selling KI for the rubbish offer made by Swansea.

Agree0 Disagree0

Let's get one thing straight you say?

What about the well documented fact from only yesterday Lennon says everyone has their price.

Lennon said it, not me.

Good enough offer for Hooper and he's away, this is what Lennon is saying basically.

What's hard to understand there?

Plus it is a rumour site so any quotes made by club staff mean more than our own opinions or desires, you see?

It's not as if Hooper is irreplaceable either is it?

Norwich are preparing a bid for Hooper and with lennons admission that money on the table talks it looks likely that Hooper will be joining ki in the premiership

Jamie Mac

Believable3 Unbelievable15

Rubbish. Hooper will not be leaving Celtic this season.

Agree1 Disagree0

I said on here weeks ago that there would be interest in 3 or 4 of our better players as the 'window' comes to a close and I hope we are not left scratching our erse come Sep 1.
As an older supporter I have been lucky enough to have seen many great players; some not-so-hot and many highs and lows. However the philosophy of The Celtic has always been to entertain and play the Celtic way and I sincerely hope when the dust has settled we are left with a stronger squad with flair and heart that will credit the jersey and support.
Come On You Bhoys In Green Tonight!

heard a wee rumour that Piquionne, from West Ham could be the guy to fill in the striker position for Celtic until finances are secured for next season?

A short term deal, little outlay RE transfer money and wages, this will get Piquionne some game time as he is at the start of his 30's and will be looking for one last decent contract. Good finisher and would do the job for

It goes aginst out sign young, develop and sell policy, but we could do with an older head or two in the squad to bring on the younger players. {Ed007's Note - Isn't he away to Leeds?}

Possibly zaliukas or Dunne What do you guys think?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok, so heres the thing. We are in a frankly rubbish league, ok we may have CL football but in all likelihood we wont get out of the group stages. We have a serviceable amount of debt, with or without selling Ki. Who in their right mind would want to play for us? Certainly noone of a proven standard. I for one would be delighted if we signed three or four new young players, developed them, and then sold on for a tidy profit. Its the future, certainly for the next three seasons. Why would we want Mensah or someone like that, who at thirty k per week is going to give us no return? Lustg was great aganst inter milan, best trying to find a role to suit him, then hopefully sell on for 3-4 million in a couple of years? Trust the scouting network, because we certainly aint signing any proven names on big money. Lets get 3 or 4 good quality youngsters in and enjoy watching them every week. Cause come january when the league is over there aint going to be much else to watch!

Afternoon ED007 I see Ki is going to
Swansea for £5-6 m, first i am disappointed in size of fee, he is worth more than that I hope there are add ons and a sell on
percentage, keep us right please ED007.
Second, I think Ki can do better than Swansea.
Also disappointed in Lennon saying he does not know how much, if any, of
this money he will get. Even if worse happens and we end up in europa league, Celtic still make £5m+ so surely £4m at least should be made
available for new players, also we have cut wage bill byat least £70k weekly so we have room to manouvre.
The Celtic fans are backing the team all the way, it is time Lawwell showed
some loyalty back to the fans Timalloy
PS just read about wee Pat's grandfather thinking of you wee man. {Ed007's Note - The deal agreed with Swansea for Ki is £6.3 million with £1.2 million of add-ons, dependant on appearances, and a 15% sell on clause. It is not a done deal yet Tim, other clubs are expected to bid. We have trimmed £92k from the wage bill (£4.78 million p.a.).}

Believable6 Unbelievable2

Could be wrong, but think eventual winners of Europa league only earn up to 8mil so celtics earnings will be a wee bit less than people think (given that they don't progress through the group) but would still like a signing or 2 regardless

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed correct me if am wrong here but you have been saying for weeks ki was going to qpr it was a done deal? {Ed007's Note - The only thing still do be done with QPR is the medical. I for one am happy with that fee i read above. 6 mill plus say 1 mill in add ons and 15% sell on is good business. do a joe allen and go for 15/20 at the end of this year

Living in Barcelona and having been to the games, I can tell you that the Celtic support is much more passionate than those here. It's like being in a theatre at times, wonderful football to watch but a little soulless. Although I've no idea which methods they've used to reach their conclusions.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes I was at the Nou Camp in April it was to see Barca vs Getafe. Real Madrid had just drawn with Valencia the day before 0-0 and let Barca back within 4 points and this game in hand to bring it back to 1. A big game. 50 odd mins gone and Barca 2-0 up, getafe had just hit the Bar and are having a succession of corners and period of concerted pressure when the rain comes on. A little shower lasting no longer than 5 minutes. And I swear around a 3rd of the stadium got up and left, most of it isn't covered by a roof and I though they must be going down the stairs out of the rain but return when it stopped. They didn't come back. Me and my brother were giving them pelters. Mostly to bemused looks as they couldn't understand the 2 drunks in Celtic tops laughing at them. Fair weather fans doesn't even begin to describe them. Mind you they were right to be confident as they're team went on to win 4-0. Even still though they were worthy of the pelters.

In the first week of the Season, Celtic had over 100,000 fans at Celtic Park and the amount of fans at these games is sustainable.

At the beginning of last season, Celtic had one of the top 10 matchday revenues in Europe.

Whatever goes on over at Ibrox and the attendance watching they are doing, well they don't really have anything else much to do have they ? Mrs E

Great attendances when did they start giving out trophies for that ? First home game any way a show of defiance it will soon fizzle out!

It costly me less to watch Larsson, Sutton, Hartson, Lennon, Lambert, Petrov, Agathe, Lubo etc smash teams like Juve, Ajax and Barca... Celtic need to understand that in order to get a packed parkhead, their pricing structure must be affordable.

I personally coudnt give a flying f*ck what rangers are doing to be honest. We are 2 winnable games from playing Champions League football this season. They are banned from european competition for 4 seasons now seeing as they never supplied audited accounts by the deadine at the end of july. We are a world ahead of them. And you can give Peter Lawwell all the stick you want about banking the Ki money but as long as he is in charge our club Celtic will always be in a stronger position than the shame. We have sold over 41 thousand season tickets on the back of no signings (forster aside) in the middle of a recession. People need to take a step back and gather theyre thoughts. I have no problem with your rallying call to our support as its always good to see Celtic park full but dont base your argument on what that embarrassment to scottish football are doing.

Listen credit where its due Rangers selling 33 thousand season tickets for division is a great achievement but wait a few months and see how many fans they are getting at home games when they are taking on Clyde and Berwick Rangers. The novelty will have well and truly worn off.

Celtics attendaces will go up when they sign the likes of jordan rhodes, a signing that will put bums on seats. mr lawwell cant have it both ways, you dont spend we dont spend. simples!

So what your saying is if celtic were to come out and say they wont be making any signings this season and possibly next as they are intending to clear all our debt then you wouldnt buy your season ticket? You have you own agenda, but i know i would be buying my season ticket. Our club isnt run by any Craig Whyte or David Murray. Peter Lawwell is a good celtic man and good at his job. Im 100% confident our cash is being invested in the appropriate manner within the club. If he thinks we should be lowering our debt with the cash recieved from Ki's transfer then im sure he is doing right by the club.

Don't see why fans are moaning about Lennon saying money for ki could be used to service the debt. If he comes out and said he will be getting the money from the sale then every club we approach for a player will try hike the price up. We will spend money although not as much as people would like.

Hi Ed, ill be at work tomorrow at 4.30am to try and watch the game online. i used the search function to find the Googe Chrome details, have it all downloaded and its now on my desktop. Will there be a new option to choose tomorrow morning as there is currently no option for "Chrome Live Football" as suggested in your cut and paste.

Or will there be another way i can watch the game, as they are not showing it Live here.

Thanks,

Melb Bhoy {Ed007's Note - Yes mate, check the links tomorrow, they should be on there.}
