Don't know if any of u have watched this left back from st.Pauli but me n ma mates went to one of there games in febuary there and the standard was piss poor. it was bottom v second bottom and it was a pressure game but honestly it was schoolboy stuff. A don't remember anyone standing out. Might be wrong but we'll see.

Totally understand the feeling about lb it's the only position in the last 3 years where there hasn't been any real change yet it remains a liability that hasn't been changed.i appreciate some signing work and some don't that's just the way of football but lb doesn't appear to have been tried to improve.

Folks

Previous posts by me highlight my sympathy for izzy. He does a lot of work and is certainly committed. Another poster highlighted that it could be lack of competition that has seen his defensive standards drop off. He does have a big job and the system requires that he can defend and support the wide players and deliver a cross from time to time. I fear however that his reputation precedes him and that means that the opposition ( especially in Europe) will attack the weak spot which brings even more pressure to an area of the field that we ourselves view as problematic.

Izzy has problems stacking up. He won't get any respite with opponents now circling. He NEEDS to get on the training field and work on his defensive positioning and decision making. It could be that he needs a little more support too from his DMC and left sided CH ( ie biton and whoever is let of centre on defence). Izzy needs to know that his forays up front are compensated by a left leaning bias from those charged with stopping opposition counters as the wee man cannot be in 2 places at once unlike padre pio!

Totally agree Jim! It really hasn't helped izzy not having competition for his position! And he's suffered big time for it! Hope we get a good solid left back in and it gives izzy the kick up the arse he needs, because this past 2 years his defending has been awful!

Every euro tie they target him as weak link. Primarily because he is. I don't know this guy but we need a more competent defender. I like izzy but we need better.
