GARY Hooper will remain a Celtic player for now after knocking back QPR and reiterating to his agents his desire to move to the Premier League. West Ham and Norwich are said to still be interested in the striker who has scored 82 goals for the Hoops since his arrival in 2010. The Englishman returns to training on Monday after recovering from a groin strain and is in line to lead the attack in the second leg of Celtic's Champions League qualifier against Cliftonville.

I would love for this to be true. Really, if he helps us to the CL group stages it is well worth him leaving on a free next season. Bank the Wanyama money, give the scouts another year to find the right player and PAY a good amount for his services. We are in a great state financially. A second year of CL would be amazing for the club, now and well into the future. Hooper will bang even more goals in this season and we will have a great time watching it!

I would love to see him stay but only if he signs a new contract. ~ Mrs E

Agree1 Disagree0

After watching the manager on sly sports news this afternoon and he said he wants him to stay why? .he won't sign a contract extension so move him on we must have planned for this situation . We have clearly got money for transfers so what's the hold up?

Chalky bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Get rid of him at all costs. He's now in the mercenary status.

Agree1 Disagree2

I've thought since January his mind has been elsewhere. It seemed obvious in many of his performances how unmotivated and uninterested he was. It would be good if he stayed, but he has to sign a new contract or else he can sign a pre contract from January and we'll get nothing. We can't afford to throw away the opportunity of getting £5m+ for him.

Agree1 Disagree0

Do we really want him 2 stay now? he's basically saying championship na al stick with celtic the now til some 1 bigger comes in. A want players who want 2 be here not just cause they don't like the move that's offered 2 them from other teams. Personally I think he's fkd us about long enough now if he really wanted 2 sign he would have ages ago if he stays now just for the sake of it not cause he really wants 2 then I honestly would have him startin on the bench every game. Why should he get a starting place ahead of players who actually want 2 play here? even though he's not publically not said he wants 2 leave but he's never indicated any desire 2 stay either. he's done an amazing job for us and il wish him all the best for when he does eventually go but a honestly think his time 2 stay has passed

Get rid ASAP. The guy is going to have a negative effect on the rest of the squad if he hasn't done already. Ed has said on here for over year now that he wants away, so f. k him. I think it has been seen in his displays for the last 10 months or so that he cannot be arsed unless it is a shop window game. We have lost far far better strikers than this fat arsed lazy person and coped.

Ballybhoy

This has become completely farcical now - Celtic should have had a definitive answer from Hooper long ago, and if he wasn't happy to sign an improved contract then he should have been sold, with for eg Hosiner brought in. These champions league qualifiers are paramount - the fans deserve better, everything seems to take an eternity. Please start acting like the huge club we are! We need a creative midfielder who plays with the head up/a Wanyama replacement/a Hooper replacement?/a TOP centre half(especially if Wilson leaves) and not squad players, first team picks every week (if fit) Cheers folks, Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

God I'm Sick of this. I was looking forward to him leaving and us bringing In a new guy. Doyle preferabley. A guy that would always be a goal threat who we could watch retire at Parkhead. Love Garry but just had enough of his smash now. Sign an extension or piss off is my opinion

Darrenbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Just tell him to go, don't want him anymore. he has had countless chances to commit to us and so far hasn't bothered. He's clearly running his contract down, so get rid while we can get some money, and get a replacement that wants to wear the hoops for more than 2-3 years. Time to go Gary your no longer wanted buy the majority of celtic fans anymore!

Agree0 Disagree1

Darrenboy lol, lol, lol! So just so u can watch doyle retire at Celtic you(always a goal threat) u want rid of hooper? Wow what are u thinking? If he wanted to stay only with a new contract which doesn't seem to be going to happen! And Ontario bhoy do u not think for at least 4m we could get another cl level striker on a4yr deal who wants to be at cp and then have resale value? If we just let him go next year that's bad business!

SOS BHOY

Agree0 Disagree0

Sos bhoy. sssssshhhhhhhh

everyone is sick and tired of this saga going on and on.

what is so difficult to understand. Hooper does not want to be here.end of! why keep this guys ego glowing, f. k him, go away.

ballybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Can u not read or something u person? your post makes no sense to what I said! I will simplify it for u ok? It says - replacing hooper for Doyle is a stupid idea and that if he does not sign a new contract then he must be sold and buy some one else rather than letting @ least4m disappear.

Maybe get your parents to read it to u or handler or what ever!

Agree0 Disagree0

Lennon has shown extreme weakness over Hooper, publicly practically begging him to stay and refusing to drop him when he was atrocious for weeks after Christmas.
Hooper has been a very good player for us -when it suits him - and he has made no secret of his desire to move to the EPL, but he has refused to extend his contract, which would benefit both parties and would jump tomorrow if an EPL club made a serious bid.
Instead of pandering to him, Lennon would do well to concentrate on our better players that want to play for Celtic and kick Hooper up the erchie and drop him.
Managers all have their favourites, but he is making a fool out of you Lenny!

Then he signs or he must go, why keep him more wages for what, tell he must go or sign a deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

How is Doyle a stupid idea? The guy is a good footballer, in a crap team. Put him on the park with our deliveries and he will score just as much as Hooper. So jog on SOS bhoy. We need older heads at our club to many young boys not enough experience. We also have no strikeing coach at Parkhead so getting in an older forward to help the young guys develope is not a "stupid idea" sorry to say that you are a Muppet pal.

Darrenbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol if that's the case and we've no striker coach how about we get one then rather than a has been striker!? In a cl game it doesn't matter if u don't score Doyle just show us some experience!haha Doyle is a terrible idea with us showing no ambition a wage for nothing wht about getting some one in with their. Coaching badges who knows what they are doing your the muppet pal if u can't even figure that out for your self

SOS BHOY

Agree0 Disagree0

Well if that's the case lenny needs to sort it out get the striker coached properly, would explain why we look flat most games up front with no decent ideas and that will be why we rely on hooper so much! I'm with SOS BHOY here I don't want doyle at celtic, he's been with a wolves team that's been relegated twice in 2 years lol enough said! If we were going to go down that road I'm sure there is a better striker than doyle out there.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd say stick with Hooper, get him motivated to play in the qualifiers and help us reach the group stages. His value then will go up then we can sell OR he might fancy the idea of staying, sign a new deal and playing CL Football. He is tried and trusted and that's why Lenny is begging him to stay. The devil you know and all that.

Agree0 Disagree0

You guys can't be very good supporters if you don't know who is on the background staff. Zombies in disguise is my guess. SOS bhoy you contradicted yourself twice so far proving my Muppet theory.

Come back when your wearing big bhoy pants.

Any idea Ed how much Hannover are wanting off Stoke for Mame Biram Diouf? He's been phenomenal in the Bundesliga and this is the kind of move i'd hate to see happen without us being in the running. {Ed007's Note - Of the top of my head it was 8 million Euros.}

Believable0 Unbelievable4

I'm positive I read just the other day the Hannover owner has come out and said Diouf is not for sale at any price.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nee chance then. Can't see the board putting that much into one body.

Agree0 Disagree0

We cannot afford to buy him nor would we pay his wages heard he's on (40,000 a week)

Agree0 Disagree0

I felt we should have moved for Diouf already - he was a standout at Hanover (as you say) and I thought we should have gone for him early, to avaoid getting into a bidding war with the epl teams. Sad to see he is going to Stoke - great player. jean-Pierre Laguerre.

Wilson to sign for forest on Monday.
Heard on good advice from friends dad who works at forest. :(

Believable11 Unbelievable29

Why would we sell wilson

Agree0 Disagree0

Have you tried anything apart from this to get over being the fan of Govan tribute act? Daviebhoy77

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it would be a bad move to punt Wilson, especially for the reported £1.5m.

I think he has been one of our better defenders after his shaky start.

Would like to see him to continue to play for the hoops.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd feel like Dick Turpin taking 1.5m from them.

MgC

Agree1 Disagree0

He didn't play in the Brentford game today. Then again, neither did Tony Watt!

Agree0 Disagree0

Tony Watt did play today, hit the bar right after big Balde hit the bar.

Agree0 Disagree0

Check out to days paper Lenny says NO!!

Agree0 Disagree0

The only reason the Wilson story appeared is because Billy Davies was angered at the story he was after the Tribute Acts target Moshni. As a well known bluenose Billy wants to please the zombies, it's why he made Wilson sit on his erchie for 6 months because he had signed for us. His target has always been to manage them.
