Hi Ed, do you know how much substance the Leigh Griffiths rumour has? I would welcome him with open arms. Worked absolute miracles for a dreadful Hibs side and hits a rasper of a dead ball from anywhere inside 30 yards! I was also looking at his goal stats and it made for some interesting reading;
Griffiths, 2 seasons at Hibs, 78 games 39 goals
Stokes, 3/4 seasons with us, 136 games 54 goals

I'm also aware of the question marks over his off field behaviours but since he's been at wolves he appears to have settled down quite a bit and is their top scorer so far. I'd have him signed up tomorrow.

Believable7 Unbelievable6

{Ed007's Note - Griffiths rarely trains with with Wolves, most days he is training with Hibs and he is desperate to get a move back to Scotland. So far CFC have not made any enquiry about him and Hibs can't afford him.}

I like Griffiths as a player- we should have signed him in the summer. Ian L

Neil Lennon was quoted as saying Griffiths was not good enough to get in his team. What's changed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey people I know this griffis has good stats and is good play but I just dnt see him as a striker that would strengthen our squad for European nights we need a tallys man for Europe I think Shane long would have been ideal always loved him as a player

Agree0 Disagree0

@STU88 - What's changed is that Hooper is gone and our strikers aren't scoring goals.

We won't know if people can play in Europe till they get a shot it's a chance managers need to take, scot Mcdonald managed it

Agree1 Disagree0

@kev. So he suddenly went from he's not good enough to OH! wait hoopers gone and the other strikers aren't scoring. That player I openly said wasn't good enough I'm going to buy him. Get a grip Kevbhoy there are plenty other solutions out there as well as young guys on the bench who are not getting a chance. So why would Griffiths be an immediate fix especially when he wasn't good enough to get in Neil's team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thought griffiths looked good at hibs, but so did riorden, flood at utd but transition into a bigger team with better players often make these players then look average or not good enough!

Agree0 Disagree0

@stu88 Leigh scored in spl and in hindsight might have been a better option ahead of balde pukki bangura stokes miku lassad and Sammy etc, just because Neil Lennon says he isn't better than what we've got doesn't make it true he could be wrong and might admit it one day?will he score in Europe maybe yes/no?. He should be signed if he can improve us and if he's trouble off the park then surely you set him straight as to what's expected or he gets binned and leave him to regret what might have been.

Agree1 Disagree0

Ppl keep going on about his record at hibs he played a lot of games at the start of the season for wolves how many goals did he score and wolves are one of the better teams in that league

Agree0 Disagree0

Griffiths apps 26 goals 12
Mcgregor apps 24 goals 10
I am only showing mcgregor because they are in the same league and mcgregor is playing for a worse team than wolves

Agree0 Disagree0

I would love to see lad Mcgregor get a run nx season, been a standout down there. Chris30

Agree1 Disagree0

Griffiths is not an answer to our problems I'd rather we never spent any money than sign him! We should be signing a lot better than what we have, improving the squad not just adding to it!

Agree0 Disagree0

Griffiths will never be a celtic player, he simply is not good enough

KP1888

Agree0 Disagree0

Some of you lot need to lay off the drink! He would easily have outscored every one of our strikers this season had we bought him in the summer. Anyone who would argue otherwise is kidding themselves on.
Kevbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

@kevbhoy I agree with you mate I think he would be a great signing for us and can't understand why we have not even enquired about him.

Wolves fan. Griffiths has failed to settle down here and is missing his family. The best thing for both parties would be a move back to Scotland. We've replaced him with Nouha Dicko and we would expect a marquee striker signing if promoted back to the Championship. The powers that be see McGregor as a player who has a lot of potential. He'll replace Dave Edwards who is out of contract at the end of the season with no new deal on offer. The press in this area seem to think we've been offered a straight swap but the CEO wants at least some cash to go along with that. I think LG will be a big success for Celtic although he is an unknown quantity in the CL.

Celtic scout has been over to watch Benfica play twice this week. Not sure who to look at, but it's rumoured to be Filip Djuricic.

ML

Believable7 Unbelievable13

{Ed007's Note - Djuricic only signed for Benfica in the summer for 6 million Euros and he has a 40 million Euros buy-out clause in his contract.}

20 Jan 2014 17:02:04
Who else could it be? Rumoured to be Filip Djuricic simply due to the amount of times the scouts watched Heerenveen last season. Djuricic may have caught the eye then and has only played 4 times since his move.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - He has played more than that.}

20 Jan 2014 17:13:47
4 league appearances then. either way, his move hasn't been successful.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm sure his agent and bank manager would disagree with you.}

I dunno about this one ed! It may have some foundations to it!, according to A Bola of Portugal djuricic is finding it difficult to settle in the squad and getting frustrated at not getting first team opportunities. They have stated that Benfica was thinking as fat back as November about moving him on. They also recon that finboggasson was a smoke screen last summer and was actually Djuricic we wanted. Maybe brnfica want to cut their loses with this guy and let him go.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It must be true then if a newspaper is saying it.}

He's played 12 games and scored 2 goals in total for benfica.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why send a scout to benfica to watch him if we never deemed him good enough to sign when we watched him numerous times at heerenveen,,,,, deep river bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

On the day that the scout went over how sure are we that the lad played. After all you are saying he's not getting much game time. Though if nl sent a scout there it wouldn't be surprising if the scouts remit was how good does that young player look sitting on my bench. Or tell me if he comes on for the last 5 minutes of the game. If he does I'm interested. Or maybe Forrester is being dangled in front of benefica as potential player plus 5 million deal remember they were rumours to be after him. I'm going to work for the daily record it's pretty easy to write this stuff

Agree1 Disagree0

He has been watched twice recently for Benfica and has not featured in either match

Agree0 Disagree0

Morning ed! Thought this story was a bit far fetched with regards to the value, buy out clause etc. I have just read an article on ssports transfer blog saying Celtic had scouted him with regards to a 6 million move? Personally I don't see us spending 6 mill on one player, if this was the case finnbogson should be priority! Bed him in for next seasons cl qualifiers! Also January is too rash a month for signings! No one wants to sell and all the relegation teams are desperate to snap up any and everyone available! But with the league almost in the bag it would suit Celtic to sign now with qualifiers in mind.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope this 1 is true really good player and the creative player we are looking for can also play as striker

Agree0 Disagree0

Just watched highlights there of lad, looks the part really skillfull, a lot of £ here we talking but & he looks better from cam than a striker so to me we would still be looking for a in & out goalscorer if we get him. Chris30

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - He's not a striker Chris, he plays as an CAM}

Cheers for clearing that up Ed, but do you agree then that we must still be looking for an out & out goalscorer. Chris30

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I would like to think we are still looking, we certainly need one.}

If this has got legs it's the most excited I've been about a signing since Strachan was in charge. I know some people find it impossible that I might keep a keen eye on Dutch footy but the guys a class act. When you talk about players that grab the game by the scruff of the neck and try to beat a man and make things happen, this young lads got it. Don't watch Portuguese footy but realise there's no real harm in not getting into Benfica's midfield. We were supposedly signing Piatti in the summer though, as well as some highly rated kid from Porto? Could just be more cannon fodder for the sales of print. The pessimist in me grows stronger by the windows. Has it got legs Ed? Or did you're winked hint for BadBhoy regarding Djuricic and Finnbogason have undertones of sarcasm?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I was being sarcastic.}

I know the fee they talking coming from the media & like yourself ed I don't always agree way the rags but I can't see us getting the lad for any less than £5 mill which I know we can afford but in my opinion mate we can kiss goodbye to bringing a striker in if we going to pay that for this lad. Norwich City have told Celtic that midfielder Robert Snodgrass is not for sale as West Ham prepare a move for Georgios Samaras. (Record) However, Celtic-fan Snodgrass has set his heart on a move to Glasgow and is willing to forego life in the English Premier League to seal a move. (Mail) Samaras, out of contract in the summer, is waiting to see if Celtic will make him an offer before he decides his future. (Express) Wolves striker Leigh Griffiths says he would consider a move to Celtic. (Sun)

Believable7 Unbelievable10

I hope Samaras goes, but we have to learn from the Hooper situation and get a better replacement in the door BEFORE we let him leave.

JJ

Agree0 Disagree0

We've still not got a better replacement in for Hoops 6 months AFTER we sold him!

Agree1 Disagree0

Sammy please sign. I don't Care what any of you say, I think we will need him in the champions league next season. The problem is we need someone as dangerous on the other side of the park so when him or Sammy get the ball they aren't blocked out by 3 or 4 opposition players. There's a reason teams in Europe fear the big Greek. Support the players on the pitch guys. He is loyal and loves Celtic. We could do a lot worse. Maybe he doesn't care much about the SPL anymore, but how many of you are out there watching the team every weekend. Not as many as normal I'd say. Anyway that's my opinion and its been like that from day 1. Love you Sammy XD, I'm such a fan girl haha.

Darrenbhoy

Agree2 Disagree1

Darren wtf has people going to the games got 2 do with sammy bein good enough? even folk watching the game on the tele can see the guy should go now people are fed up of him and that's theyr oppinion yet cause u don't agree your accusin folk of no going 2 games enough get a grip. And if u honestly want to give him a new contract just solely on the off chance he does something in the cl then your off your head mate the guy has had his time he's had 1 good cl run and the 2 goals at ibrox that's it he turns up once in every 10 games it's no good enough

GunnieBhoy

Agree1 Disagree1

Ah, the obligatory angry response! The stats show our attendances have dropped massively mate. That's just the way it is! Yes I think we should hold onto him for the cl, we could put out out youth for the rest of the season and still win the SPL. So in truth most of out big players were bought with cl In mind. We are a selling club now and having a few seasoned pros in around our younger guys isn't a bad thing, commons, broonie amd Sammy are those guys. People might not like it but Celtic won't buy a guy with no enhanced sell on fee. So like it or not he is extremely important to the squad and any cl ambitions we hold.

Well the news here is that Rogic is on his way to Melbourne Victory. I didn't think it would happen but my mate next door thinks that even though the season ends earlier than those in Europe, he will have the Asian Champions League to go on with.

It'll be good to see him here in the flesh, I still rate him very highly and hope he can make the squad for Rio.

And a shout out to Oz Bhoy, it seems you may have been right :)

Melb Bhoy

Believable5 Unbelievable2

I agree .

Agree0 Disagree0

He is a good player. Just a shame he never really got a chance at celtic.

KP1888

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey bud this is ozbhoy can't seem to log in on my phone but thanks for the shout out

Agree0 Disagree2

He never got a real chance to show what he can do and I assume he will not be back - as is often the case with many of our youngsters? The more the club bring in young stars to develop and progress, the more Lennon seems to be dismantling the conveyor belt of talent and offloading them, while persevering with his favourites

JJ

Agree1 Disagree0

@jj I agree with what you say. I have to admit, i'm not the biggest fan of neil lennon as a manager. I can't understand why celtic sign new players and don't give them a chance.

I can't see Rogic coming back from loan and I genuinely believe he will be end up in either the english premiership or championship in the near future.
