what about celtic going back in for shane long, good pace and finishing.might be playing in premiershp but european football might pull him away from west brom.

Believable8 Unbelievable8

Too much money n not prolific enough.been a dissapointment i think so far for w b a. green jhedi

I think he has been good for WBA. Would be a great signing, they would never let him go though.

Celtic are chasing Charlton Athletic striker Yann Kermorgant.
The 30-year-old former Leicester City player moved to The Valley from Avignon earlier this season.
His seven goals in 14 starts have pushed Charlton to the top of League One
But Kermorgant has 18 months left on his contract and Celtic are ready to offer around £1m

Total mince story

I dont know why your all laughing lads, there seems to be alot of truth in this one, pretty much every other striker we have looked at isn't available or knocked us back. looks like we're going to take a punt on a journeyman.

The arrival of ibrahim has called time on mcourt & commons. Both players will be leaving this window.

Believable4 Unbelievable15

Why would the arrival of 1 player signal the end of 2? am scratchin ma head on this one

Paddy

Agree11 Disagree2

I agree paddy, some people just like to talk oot thur ar5e!

Agree7 Disagree0

I agree with McCourt, don't think he's really bringing that much to the squad, despite his flashes of genius and cult status with the fans, but Commons still has a lot to give. He was devastating from January last year, I'd love to see him get back into that kind of form.

Agree5 Disagree0

Mccourt cant bring anything to the squad if you aint playing pal, you cant find form if you aint playin either, commons could be the difference to winning the title in the run-in, and this ibrahim still has a work permit to sort out, so dont go selling 2 players in the hope this guy weve never heard of is as good as his youtube vid!!

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Jan 2012 22:19:04
think we should offload some players i was thiinking mccourt 750k loovens 500k bangura 1 mil cha 500k rasmussen 1 mil slane and twardzik twins on loan maybe buy 2 big names any suggestions ed ? also if hooper does go which he probs wont rhodes would be a must {Ed007's Note - I think Cha or Mark Wilson might leave this window or sign pre-contracts with other clubs.}

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Personally i like mark wilson but should get at least 1.5 million for him {Ed007's Note - He is out of contract in the summer.}

Agree3 Disagree5

How much do you think rhodes would cost and who would you rather hooper or rhodes ed ? {Ed007's Note - I would say it could end up as high as £7-10 million in the summer for Rhodes. A team in the EPL might try and force a deal this window but both Huddersfield and Rhodes are not keen on any move this window. If the price reaches that CFC will be out the bidding, there was question marks over whether any established EPL team was seriously interested but it now appears there is. CFC were willing to match any Championship offer but the EPL money/factor will kill our chances.}

Agree4 Disagree0

Completely agree with u Ed, he wont move untill summer caus he they woul make more money from promotion than they would from selling him, and in the summer he will cost that caus he will carry on scoring lost of goals and maybe get the record for goals in that league. have u any idea Ed what the div 1 record is?

BarryBhoy {Ed007's Note - League One in England was only formed and started in season 2004/05. The scoring record is 31 goals by Southampton's Rickie Lambert in 2009/10.}

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Jan 2012 21:57:36
Any word on gettin a goalkeeper in ed? I really don't think Fraser Forster is good enough and I'm sure there are goalkeepers out there that are available for a reasonable amount of money. Surely Craig Gordon being totally out of favour at Sunderland should set off alarm bells to get him in.
Dannybhoy {Ed007's Note - Forster always has been and still is NL's first choice as GK. I don't see why people doubt Forster.}

Believable5 Unbelievable8

I Don't doubt his shot stopping ability but it's the other things that make a good goalkeeper he doesn't seem to have. for someone who's 6ft7 he doesn't seem to have a commanding presence. Everytime he comes for a cross my hearts in my mouth because he couldn't catch a cold. getting down to the ground he's slow as a week in the jail. It's these other things that make me doubt him to be honest.
Dannybhoy

Agree6 Disagree8

Crosses ain't his strong point Ed
CB {Ed007's Note - They weren't Dracula's either....}

Agree3 Disagree6

I have watched Celtic for a long time.Big Frazer is better than most,I cannot recall him costing us stupid goals.I would happily sign him, he is young and will get better

Agree8 Disagree4

The own goal he conceded to cha du Ri wasn't stupid then?

Agree3 Disagree3

More chas fault i thought

Agree5 Disagree3

Cup final v them

Agree3 Disagree4

I wish people would stop discussing Gordon as an option. He is forever injured and we'd have to rely on a 2nd choice keeper for much of the time. Also, he's broken the same wrist twice and I've heard that it is near impossible for a keeper to get the proper strength back in it. He may have been good there's really no evidence to suggest he still is as we never see play for Sunderland

Agree8 Disagree1

I think fraser forster is doing fine and doesnt get credit he deserves . sign him up.

Agree12 Disagree2

Forster could be a great keeper, for me I'd get shot of stevie woods as goalkeeping coach, get a more experienced goalie coach in, big Fraser needs to learn to start shouting more in the box, sit behind goals and you hardly hear him, a better coach would help him, needs to get down faster to shots from distance, has the makns of a good goalie, but needs a far better goalie coach, yoga makn him bit soft lol, get a rugby league coach in to get him muscled up in the gym, needs to realise he is a huge precence

Agree6 Disagree4

I wasn`t a fan of Forster being signed up again, as i was a huge holy goalie fan best ever and to replace him was going to be hard for sure but Forster hasn`t really done much wrong, and he`s improved on last season, so long may it continue and i must admit id be quite happy to keep going with forster, improving all the time, Keir

Agree3 Disagree1

Arthur boruc was dreadful when it came to cross balls. Great shotstopper true. Infact he had the same qualities and weeknesses as foster. But he hated rangers and had the tatoos to prove it so he was loved and over rated. He cost us loads of points from stupid mistakes but the fans let him away with it because it was big Arthur the person hater. When was the last time foster made a mistake that cost us points? How many times lately has he pulled off world class stops at crucial times? GIVE FOSTER A BREAk!

Agree7 Disagree2

Im sorry people need to get off Forsters back. He is young and has already improved so much. If you compare him to other keepers at his age he is well up there. Most of the great keepers didnt become until the latter years, Im sorry Fraser will be an exceptional keeper and I rate him highly already.

Agree5 Disagree1

Artur boruc was a world class keeper. and he had none of the same weaknesses as Forster apart from cross balls, boruc was quick off his line, Forster is slow as a week in the jail, boruc has a huge commanding presence, forster doesn't, boruc is quick to get to the ground Forster again is very slow. so how you can say they have the same qualities and weaknesses is rather puzzling? The guy will have to improve a hell of a lot to get to the level of keeper wee need.
Dannybhoy

Agree2 Disagree3

Wasn't keen on big Forster last year but this season he's convinced me. He's only a kid on goalie's terms, still has potentially two decades in the game and has so much to learn, but he's demonstrated that he can improve. I think the chopping and changing of the defence in front of him hurt his confidence just as much as it did the defenders themselves earlier this year. Since it's settled down to a degree, he's come on leaps and bounds. Can't knock Boruc, one of the best to wear the Hoops goalie shirt. But big Fraser isn't a bad replacement.

Agree2 Disagree1

Nobody can say Fraser Foster is a bad goalkeeper, No chance. Last year he was a Good goalkeeper made some silly mistakes but he has improved since then now look at him hes on terrific form, played a massive part in celtic catching up with rangers in the title race. my view is that everybody who says he is crap should actually evaluate his performances correctly and stop living in the past.

Agree3 Disagree1

Foster's only young with alot of years ahead of him. Most keepers don't hit there peak until late 20"s, early 30's. I would take the chance singing him!

RE: my post last week about Mjallby being over in germany. i wasnt sure if he was just watching the U19's or doing some work, but after we signed the big Pole, i'm told that he was also looking at another player from poland, and 2 kids from the U19 tournament.

getting names out of parkhead these days is super difficult....bring back jock brown and brian dempsey lol!! (seriously...don't)

Ed - heard anything about any fringe players that could be leaving in January? {Ed007's Note - Wheels are in motion to offload a few players, either permanently or on loan. O'Dea should tie up a deal to Leeds this month, Blackpool are still showing an interest in McCourt and Bangura's agent has been told to find him another club, either loan or permanent. There are others that are available also and work on these is at varying degrees.}

Believable7 Unbelievable0

What sort of fee would PmcCourt if he was to be moved on ?. 500k - 1m ? {Ed007's Note - I think any bid in that range and CFC would be delighted.}

Agree4 Disagree1

How much did we actually pay for bangura? Am i mad or was it 2million!
Skinnybhoy {Ed007's Note - You're quite sane Skinny, it was £2.2 million.}

Agree3 Disagree1

I suspose 3-4 m for the bits and bobs that are out and about would be good buisness .tidy things up ,Will have to take a hit on Bangura

Agree4 Disagree1

Whats the chances of recouping that?
Bad piece of business all round

Agree5 Disagree0

In general Neil and staff have got it spot on!.

Agree5 Disagree0

I reckon we could recoup most of it. Wasn't long ago we paid 2.2M. We might take a slight hit but I don't see us making any less than half of that, especially if we sell him back to AIK who I've heard would be interested.

I'd still rather see Bangura go out on loan. He's had injury problems and barely had a chance to shine so his confidence must be pretty low. I realise Lennon sees him in training every day but he could benefit from a loan to get his fitness and confidence up (and valuation if we're to offload him in the summer) and the coaches could benefit from seeing him in 1st team action.

Agree4 Disagree1

Be good to know , who scouted bangura, did henrik really recommend him? or was that porkies, was he bought over lennys head without even being watched? 2.2 mill a fair hit to take, along with1 mill hit for d murphy, both duds . Our scouting system that's pickn up kayals izzy etc surely didn't scout those 2 {Ed007's Note - Bangura was extensively scouted. Sometimes deals just don't work out for one reason or the other, it does seem a strange situation though.}

Agree4 Disagree1

I don t see lennon taking orders for any signings he doesnt want. bangura has hardly played and the reaction is typically over the top. i concede to anyone who has seen him in training.

Agree4 Disagree1

Obviously lenny has and he's crap hence why loan or punt asap has been put to his agent ,

Agree3 Disagree3

He came into the team at the same time that sammy, hooper and stokes have all hit top form and have practically had no injuries. he was signed as a back up striker and thats what he is. he'll get his chance and might well prove his worth. mental suggesting he's not good enough just because he hasnt featured.

Agree5 Disagree2

I see we've signed Ibrahim on a 3 yr deal subject to medical..........could be a really good signing and cost us nothing so if doesn't work out nothing lost.....well done NL I say

Believable20 Unbelievable1

Brilliant news! what a spark this kid could give us can see him making squad straight away.very comfortable on the ball,well done again the scouting dept.green jhedi

Agree13 Disagree1

Ed has he actually signed??
cb {Ed007's Note - Not yet CB, a work permit needs to be sorted out to complete the deal.}

Agree4 Disagree0

Looks like a work permit is the only thing holding this up
Tt {Ed007's Note - It shouldn't be a problem.}

Agree6 Disagree0

Looks a decent prospect Ed, do u think hes ready for first team or is he for the future

Celticthomas {Ed007's Note - I think he will get some first team chances before the season ends, it will depend on his current fitness level etc.}

I'm worried about Hooper may be leaving. Anyone have info about the situation.

Believable2 Unbelievable11

If they offer to treble his wages he'd have to go, u can't tell me he loves Celtic so much he wouldn't. Well just have to wait n see I should think, it slightly worries me that Is his ex manager whos after him plus they're on the brink of the premiership! Fingers crossed
CB {Ed007's Note - Hooper does have a great relationship with Adkins, but how long will he last at Southampton if they do get promoted or even if they don't?}

Agree3 Disagree2

We still need to let them speak to him before he even gets to except the 3x his wage offer.

Personally I think that is a load of bully, as if it was realised by Saints then surely they can get done for tapping up the player?

Hooper would smash the EPL. Could easily player in any team outside your top 6 of Man utd and city, spurs, arsenal, chelsea and liverpool. Saying that he could probably do a job for most of those teams at present.

Linnie88

Agree7 Disagree0

Even if they offer to treble his wages Celtic will still have to receive what they think is a fair deal for him.

Agree7 Disagree1

If hooperman goes he goes with my blessing,he's english,scored plenty n as long as we get good money for a replacement fair enough.seen to many badge kissers in paradise n hooper hznt been one of them. green jhedi

Agree8 Disagree1

Hey Ed, see your fav site is on a 24 hour black out. Bet ur devasted !?
CB {Ed007's Note - Absolutely gutted mate!!!}

Agree2 Disagree1

Why have celtic not offered hooper a new deal yet. surely hes worth 25k a week and if i remember, did hooper not say not too long ago that he hopes for a new deal. ffs celtic offer the man a new deal and at least double his wages and be done with this saga, he deserves it {Ed007's Note - Talks have been put off until the summer as far as I know.}

Agree5 Disagree2

On the Southampton site ther saying they've gave up on Hoops and will now pursue Jordan Rhodes.......DH {Ed007's Note - Good luck with that as well.}

Agree2 Disagree1

I agree. Offer him a new contract, hes apparently happy at celtic, and who wouldnt agree a new contract that is twice as much as your already on.

Agree5 Disagree0

It was hooper that wanted the contract talks put back till the end of the season, so he could concentrate on the league.

dont listen to all this bs from southampton fans....the amount of stories they've made up in the past week alone is incredible. and there's no way southampton have been talking about wages to hooper, that would appear to be tapping him up, so if it was true, then celtic would have already come out and lambasted this.

Agree3 Disagree0

I don't see why hooper would go back to the championship when we signed him from there it would seem going backward and I could only see him leave for premiership

Agree5 Disagree0

Hey Ed and fellow Hoops.

Dunno if there's owt to it but I hear that our own Super-Hooper lunched with Jos Hooiveld yesterday, my mate said summat bout Tw*tter accounts, soz but I ain't into that so I've not seen it myself.

Wonder what they were chatting about, Jos's new house? Boats? Or a little football club down south maybe?

Weird how no-one's talking about the HMRC anywhere just Hooper & Celtic. See Southampton Echo (I think), comments board, bout how Lenny is leaving as soon as Hooper is sold. Almost like the DR feel the need to spread their poison to the bottom of the British Isles.

Oh no the paranoia has returned lol.

Shaunybhoy

Believable1 Unbelievable9

It was Hooper, Cervi, Rogne, Ledley and Hooiveld who lunched yesterday. They are all still close even though Hooiveld has left and they meet up quite regulary. I would not read too much into it.

Hooper must not be sold!

Connor67

Agree12 Disagree6

C67 - Cheers for clearing that up brother.

Fully agree Hoops should stay, at least til summer when we can flog him for £10m+, he'll be much heavier with all the medals he'll have to bring back down south though.

It has been reported that he doesn't want to talk about his future until the summer, but I would love it if we got him tied down

Agree10 Disagree3

Dont mind if we sign him or not, he has had a few decent games but im still not convinced.

Agree7 Disagree5

Id drive big lurch back down to Newcastle myself when his loan deal ends. The lad is not the answer. We must go out and spend good money on a top quality goalkeeper. Craig Gordon springs to mind, world class keeper if he stays fit.

Hi Ed how r u bud? is that true that Diawara has joined Seville for 3m euro?
has our tight s**t board let us down again??

BarryBhoy {Ed007's Note - Reputable news agencies are reporting that the deal hasn't been completed yet. Sevilla are in advanced talks but there is another club interested.}

Believable8 Unbelievable0

I wish ppl would get a grip,yea the board might have spent more but have we got money? yes.are we secure? yes.do we need to sell?no.lawell etc have done a good job for me n thanks to them we might have money for a period of domination not seen since the stein years.young squad + cash healthy= success.green jhedi

Agree13 Disagree4

I've calmed down now and looking at it with a clear mind I think it's hard for us, in the SPL, to compete with the amazing league that is La Liga.
Even Seville itself would be a great place to play your football as oppose to sunny Glasgow.
I also imagine that no matter what fee they are paying they would be able to pay him far more than we could afford.

So taking this all into account we missed the boat in the summer so we can't complain now that people have noticed the guy.
Here's hoping there are other irons in the fire of a similar standard.
Keep the Faith!
HH
/BB

Agree4 Disagree1

Its not that we missede the boat in the summer ed u said there was problems with a work permit 4 diawarra b4 eh?therefore that was outwith our hands n anyway the squad is still really strong we hav our 1st choice strikers on fire n hav enuf 2 dominate the dark side easily is1888 hoops 2 the core {Ed007's Note - I don't know if the WP/visa problems during the summer still exist regarding Diawara. At the time both CFC and Maritimo seemed confident they wouldn't be an issue this month.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Yeah green jhedi its people like u that need to get a grip. when strachan won 3 in a row and made it twice through the group stage ot the champs league , how much money did celtic receive?? quite alot im sure! and then we did not spend much to strengthen the team, what happenend the next 3 years?? we lost 3 in a row to a really pi55 poor rangers side. had the board gave us money for a couple of good signings things would probably of been much different.if the shoe was on the other foot and rangers were in our situation and we in theres they wood spend and bring in quality and dominate just like they did when they won 9 in a row with walter smith. maybe if we had spent some of that champions league money we could be sitting at 6 in a row instead of losing the last 3 so why dont u get a grip!
