{Ed007's Note - Syd, I have left your post with a note for Ed001 or one of the geeks. Oh and shame on you thinking I'd block you for being wrong about 'The Brand' ;-)

Believable6 Unbelievable7

Sorry 007, I didn't think you were that petty, but couldn't think why else I would have been banned. 002 said I messed with an editor so assumed it was you as I hadn't spoken to another. Sorry again mate.

Sydney! {Ed007's Note - No need to apologise Syd, I can't remember ever deleting any your posts let alone needing to block you for anything.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed iv had a good few problems when postin on main thread but not under other comments is that at my end or yours?

Good to see van dijk get a run out yesterday. high hopes for him. some quality sorely needed at CB position.

{Ed007's Note - Max Clayton has told Crewe that he wants to leave the club during this window. He is rated as one of the top prospects in England and NL is a BIG admirer of the player. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see CFC make a move for the 19 y.o. attacker but there will be plenty of interest and competition for his signature.}

Believable11 Unbelievable9

COME ON FFS ANOTHER FUTURE STAR.RIGHT HERE RIGHT KNOW. SICK TO DEATH OF THE FUTURE, W.T.F.is LENNOXTOWN FOR?HERES A WEEEEE story .Once UPON a time the CELIC sold King Kenny fr 440,000£ sterling in 1977. WHAT DID WE DO WITH IT?ANSWERS TO al geri.

Agree2 Disagree0

Not really seen the boy ed what type of player is he? And do u think we will be after him? {Ed007's Note - He has been compared to a young Michael Owen and a lot of people (including Crewe manager Steve Davis) rate him better than Nick Powell who joined Man Utd last summer. He is definitely one of the most gifted young players in the lower leagues in England. I'd be delighted if we signed him but I wouldn't like him to be our signing that replaces Hooper, he isn't quite ready for that yet.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Looking at his stats and 1 goal every 5 games doesn't sound too appealing.

Agree1 Disagree0

Mate gee it a break! We might buy a decent replacement! No one is happy about the lack of activity but future stars are what we do! See potential and develop them! Hooper and wanyama were un known with potential and became stars u just look at the glass as empty not even half empty!

Agree0 Disagree2

All Geri you must be the most negative poster on here all you ever do is slate the club. There's a big difference between the old board lining their respective family fortunes and PL running a financially stable business. Of course I'd love us to bring in a few quality players but that doesn't mean this boy wouldn't be a cracking signing, remember bargains like Henrik, Lubo, Agathe etc?
CBP

Agree1 Disagree2

I agreed with u the other night al geri but 2night I have to go against what u say. PL like others didn't have in the past, have the clubs best intersts at heart, I don't agree with how he goes about buying decents players but he's not going to let the club go bust just to keep fans happy, do u forget our DARK days before a wee billionare wi a skipit bunnit came in and saved us and showed everyone at CFC how to run a decent business aswell as get a good team on the park, like one post says, Henrik, Lubo and Agathe between them they cost about 2mil and look at what they gave the club and fans. If the boy from crewe is good enough and would join us, why not go for him? I don't know much about him, but I've seen the young lad powell play and he's not too shabby, plus with what I've heard about crewe they churn out decents talents from there youth set-up, maybe worth a punt if the price is right, but I'd still want someone in to replace hooper and that is the only time I'd ever beg PL to spend the money for the lad finbogassen(spellin) as he could be worth double when the time comes to move him on.

S

Agree0 Disagree0

Again al geri you are spot on where does the money go.The figures for Dalglish are bang on I think we spent a whole £50,000 on his replacement a certain Joe Craig.Bringing on young players is great but when you have the cash it should be spent on a bit of quality, i'm sick hearing PL talking about the Celtic Family as it seems the fans are being ignored, he is begining to sound like Jock Brown I can hardly believe a word the man says.

Agree1 Disagree0

We have plenty of guys for the future our problem is we need players for now and have done for sometime now the champions league play off has been kind to celtic but don't expect to get it easy at group stage buy some ready to go first teamers or face a tough time in group games. It's time to give us signings we deserve. Hail hail. Jim

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2013 21:53:41
We do not bad from the lower leagues in other countries ie; wanyama commons hooper. I would take a punt on him at the least he's 19 and we would get our £££ bk

Agree0 Disagree0

A young Michael Owen. Sign him up Lenny! Powell looks a great prospect, not seen too much of Clayton. If he's rated similar or better we should make a move pronto. Realistically what do you think he would go for ed?
cw-88 {Ed007's Note - At a guess I would say maybe £2m but I imagine it will be like Powell's Man Utd deal and have plenty of add-ons.}

Agree0 Disagree1

We already have a decent young striker in Tony Watt, how often does he play? Very rarely, and when he does it's on the wing. Currently in the striker department we have: Samaras, Balde, Stokes, Watt, and also Atajic. Everyone's saying sign this guy from Crewe and still need to bring in a replacement to Hooper. How's Lennon going to play all of them? Absolutely ridiculous having that many strikers.

Agree1 Disagree0

Yes I am THE MOST NEGATIVE, but I have a RIGHT TO THAT.SEEN SO MANY TROPHYS DISAPPEAR BECAUSE OF A lack of AMBITION. We won't always get a wanyama for peanuts. This club has to be more astuite than any other.Again THIS CLUBS HISTORY DICTATES MY THOUGHTS, Our DOUBLE WIN ON OUR 100TH BIRTHDAY, WHAT DID WE DO WITH THAT POSITION OF POWER?.If you have been a fool once, twice, three times, you have to be a complete clown to make the same mistake again.I don't LIKE THIS CLUB being told NO by footballing NOBODYS FROM around the WORLD So let's set our sights on players who WILL sign for us a can't be arsed with anymore, BUT I AM BANG ON WITH MY THOUGHTS.PS Ian ANDREWS WAS OUR BIG BUY IN 1988/89. PAUL MCGRATH 400GS, PAT NEVIN 500GS WAS MY SIGNING DREAMS AT THAT TIME. al geri. sorry for being so negative, but.

Agree0 Disagree0

PS Joe Craig was already at paradise when we sold THE KING, I think we bought F.Munro, J.Dowie, J.Fillippi. forgot the other 20 quid we spent.al geri. facts are better than fiction.

Agree0 Disagree0

They 3 players cost £1mill lubo henrik agathe

Agree0 Disagree0

God Bless Al Geri for being honest, Celtic have penny pinched for years, brought in 20 million and spent 7 million max - come on the hoops bring in a big player to keep all the fans happy

Agree0 Disagree0

Good to see that al geri is not fooled his points are on the nail, I have seen Celts rise and fall so often, at times we appear to be lacking in ambition, the current squad is Europa League standard we need 3 quality signings, by the way we have also made considerable savings on the wage bill by releasing so many players, let last season not be another false dawn, if the cash is not spent on good players where will it go?

Agree1 Disagree0

You see the figures for guys like Larsson, Lubo and Didier being bandied about a lot on here. These guys were signed how many years ago? How much has the footballing market changed since the late 90's?

Some call me Tim

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem at Celtic has always been we can never get a proper balance. We are not slick and dynamic enough when doing our business, I said in a post yesterday that everything we seem to do gives people room to talk(meaning the journo's, and the other mob/critics etc) I believe if the criticism is from our own fans then fair enough-as long as it's constructive/honest. I'm guilty of going on rants, simply because I want success so badly, and I'm sure the other lad Al Geri is the same. I started watching us in the 80's and it was hard going(up against a very good souness team) and by God did they love patronizing us, every chance they got they had a good laugh at us. The problem though is we don't do enough to help ourselves. I want us to act with a bit off class, but also with a bit more fire. The current team is looking well short off real quality - we have plenty of numbers, not enough ability. Cheers, Paul

some call me tim the same year we got larsson for 650,000 newcastle paid 15 million for shearer

Agree0 Disagree0

Big D. Was Shearer not the most expensive player in the world, certainly in England, at that time?

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic's pursuit of striker pukki from shalke could be derailed by the news that jan klaus huntelaar is out for a month meaning shalke are short up front and will not be willing to sell another striker until a replacement is brought in for the injured huntelaar. yet another blow to neil lennon's plans with finboggson unlikely to join. celtic now likely to turn their attentions to gary mckay steven of dundee united.

Ed- I'm hearing a rumour tonight that Celtic are showing an interest in Jacob Butterfield Norwich city player & England under 21, apparently it would be a season long loan deal, just wondering if you've heard this yourself?

Believable5 Unbelievable18

Why would we when we. Just loaned young Jackson Irvine out who has great potential

Agree0 Disagree0

Have you heard anything regarding this Ed? The boy is on the bench today for Norwich. Ian L {Ed007's Note - I've not heard anything Ian but it would seem a bit of a pointless move.}

Apparently Celtic have had a 4million bid for marko arnautovic accepted but the player himself has rejected the move to Scotland, this is according to a German newspaper.

Believable15 Unbelievable12

He appears to be a bit of a problem child with his behaviour and wants to fight with everyone. Surely that couldn't be good for the dressing room atmosphere or overall team morale. Sounds too much like Joey Barton for my liking and we could do without that!

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye. He said he's waiting for Real Madrid or Chelsea ha! He's supposed to be a arrogant bam anyway not worthy of the shirt. Gandalf the green

Agree1 Disagree1

This sounds like nonsense to me-certainly the supposed wages we offered(more than 30k per week) we were told last week that the wage structure won't be broken, as far as I know that's about 26-28k. Far too much talking for my liking, look at the team/bench today for eg, this squad is well short and up front is as bare as it's been in decades! Obviously the irony is that we have never been as sound financially. This transfer window really takes a bit off beating-even by our standards! Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on Peter Add another million to that fee and buy Alfie! He is a much better scorer!

Agree1 Disagree0

He's supposedly signed for Monaco

Werder Bremens austrian player Arnautovic declined a 4m euro move to Celtic. Werder would like to sell him because his contract is expiring at the end of the season. Arnautovic said the scotish league isn't attractive enough for him.

There is a lot of negativity being thrown about regarding the potential signing of Teemu Pukki. Yes his goalscoring record isn't as good as Finnbogason's but he has been playing for a top team in a far superior league, probably the best in the world in fact. He's also only 23 so has plenty of time to develop further. If he signs I'll be happy and will be fully behind him!

LM67

Believable16 Unbelievable9

Most of his appearances have been substitute appearances, due to Schalke having Huntelaar, hence why he hasn't got many goals. He has scored a goal at Schalke every 139 minutes. If he played a full 90 minutes in all 38 games, at that scoring rate, he could score 24/25 goals in a season. That's in Germany, he could score loads in Scotland, maybe Europe as well!

Agree1 Disagree0

We need the players in who will score in Europe we have the players for the spl.ajw

Agree0 Disagree0

He's gash, would be an awful signing

Iain

Agree0 Disagree1

Think people are peed of because wer penny pinching again though we've selt 20.5million worth of players this season and brought.in 4 million, don't see why the can't jus spend the 5million on alfie. kennybhoy88

Agree0 Disagree0

I might be wrong and thinking about the wrong player but was the reason they signed him from Helsinki was because he scored against them and played so well against them in a champions league qualifier
Gordybhoy44

Agree0 Disagree0

Pukki must have shown something for schalke to buy him in the first place, celtic will do well to sign him as he looks like a goal scorer givin a chance.still feel we should bring in another striker aswell, don't know what it is at celtic but for some reason we seem to get our fair share of injuries and more.

Agree0 Disagree0

Does he not play as an attacking midfielder for schalke?

Agree0 Disagree0

Lm67 I agree., we don't buy stars we make them! Still a bit worrying with no buisness being done before this game! I hope we get some nice supprises if we qualify

Agree0 Disagree0

This guy is young and fits celtic's signing policy. I called for a benched striker from a top euro league, who was being kept out from his potential. I recommended looking to Germany. Latest is we're likely to get him if Shalke can find a replacement.
We need to get behind the lad. It's important for strikers in particular to have the fans behind them. At about £2.5m, I'm more pleased with this prospect than Doyle. At 23 he will be a second faster than Doyle and in CL that's what wins.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pukki has scored 3 against Schalke in Europe (that's what made them buy him) and has also scored away to Spain in a World Cup Qualifier. He's got a decent calibre

LM67

Agree1 Disagree0

Iain a tad out of order, Bundesliga teams are well well ahead of majority of leagues and he is only 2nd to Huntelaar at Schalke, no shame in that.

Celtic owe the fans a big signing and Alfie would be ideal, he is a poacher and clinical, Pukki would be Forrest with the final ball, can finish and would take on players on and beat them. Forrest for me is an SPL player at best as always goes hiding in Europe.

Agree0 Disagree0

When we signed Henke, he was not prolific although he was a seasoned International.
I have no doubt playing in the SPL gave him a platform to develop his game.
The goals kept coming and he also became the UK top Euro goalscorer at that time.
Pukki may not be as gifted as Larsson, but if he signs he may become a similar asset?

Jungle Jim

Agree1 Disagree0

As I said, utter crud. Want him nowhere near a Celtic top.

Iain

Agree0 Disagree0

Jungle jim that's a TALKING HEADS SONG let's GET REAL OUR SIGNING POLICY THIS YEAR IS A DISGRACE. FACT al geri.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lookslike our chances of getting this boy have gone, injury to huntelaar(spelling) could force shalkes hand to keep him on board until atleast january and alfred has been offered a new deal at his current club, our top 2 targets for the strikers position look as if they will still be where they are come the close of the window.
