Has Erik been sold or is it a loan back to his previous club?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - It's a loan and so far there's been no agreement on making it permanent although all parties would like to see that happen in the summer.}

16 Jan 2018 19:20:51
Cheers Ed.

{Ed007's Note - No probs.}

I heard that there has been two Chelsea youngsters Celtic interested in Mosonda is one and Is a midfielder and word on who the other is ED?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Lewis Baker.}

16 Jan 2018 22:00:08
Any truth in it ED?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't know mate, I just read something about us being linked with him. He's currently at Middlesbrough on loan but I read he hasn't kicked a ball for them since September. He's meant to be a cracking player but if he isn't getting game time for Middlesbrough that sets alarm bells ringing for me.}

16 Jan 2018 22:36:37
I agree there ED why would we want someone who can't get a game when on Loan. Do we expect any movement this in or out this week?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's difficult to put timescales on anything, Rich.There will be movement both ways before the window closes.}

16 Jan 2018 22:49:22
Any news on who may fill Erik’s boots Ed? The only CB I’ve really seen us linked with consistently is Hendry and if that’s the case I don’t think BR will have his wish of being stronger after the window than we were before it. Perhaps a deal for Caulker could be on the cards?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'd say Ajer and probably more Compper have already taken Sviatchenko's spot.}

16 Jan 2018 23:43:56
Cheers ED.

What do you make of Rodgers saying buying players isn't always the way? Think we won't see any signings or only a loan as a result?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Jan 2018 18:44:54
Celtic will do what Celtic always do. bring a loan signing in then have there pals in the press make up stories on who we nearly got.
We live in hope that PL has a jumper with wizard sleeves and he's ready to pull a couple of surprises out. but don't hold your breath.

16 Jan 2018 19:33:34
He didn't say that at all. He said it was important to only buy the right type of player to fit in with the team he has. HH.

16 Jan 2018 19:54:03
He’s spot on! Most of us would have happily moved on almost every player after RD left and start again but look how much most of them have improved under BR.

I'm more so talking about the defence and midfield, we all wanted a defender in all season and now we've got one in and met one go so we're not really any better off. We also have Armstrong, Rogic and Roberts out so thought we'd have been linked heavily for cover in one or two of those areas.

Ed you heard of any interest in kouassi? Seems to be completely quiet in the press.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - The last I heard was that Werder Bremen were showing the most interest in taking him on loan. There were other teams mentioned but it was the Germans who seemed the keenest.}

16 Jan 2018 18:47:53
As the window ticks on and the way BR changes his stance on getting players in do we think BR is being sensible or is he being held back by the board etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2018 19:40:54
That would be a good move if we could loan him to a German team they play the game the correct way.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The lad needs start playing games and if it's not for us I'd be happy just to see him going anywhere and actually playing football.}

16 Jan 2018 20:05:30
At the real risk of being classed a pessimist, our stance on transfers is shocking IF we don't get players in. With mount get injuries, poor form and players sent out on loan, we seem to take two steps forward and at least one back, sometimes more than one!

Me aswell Ed heard good things about him before he got signed but I like the look of Benyu when he had a couple of games. If Jordan Jones goes to The Rangers for £1.2 million plus £5million when they get to champs league final they might be in need of a midfielder and Steve Clarke’s a good coach.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I still can't believe that Clarke went there. I've no love for Killie and usually would love to see them get relegated but I'd like to see him doing well and given time he could turn that entire tinpot club round.}

16 Jan 2018 23:39:57
I’d like to see him play, he just needs a platform to showcase his talent. How long is Armstrong out for? We would end up short in CM for a change.

Looks like Henderson on his way to Bari in Italy? Would have liked to see a bit more of him, but then who would you take out of the team to make way for him.

I’m surprised he didn’t get interest from a better team tbh but best of luck to him if he goes. Maybe fancied some decent weather.

Will always rate this lad im actually gutted we are getting rid of him i don't think he has ever let us down and has a big future ahead of him. We can't hold him back though he needs to be playing. I don't understand it being a loan deal to Bari when his contract is up end of the season. Id rather see him sign a new long term deal and go get some football elsewhere for a season. Good luck to the lad he seems to be a really likeable lad on and off the pitch.

Any murmurings on a new keeper, or do you reckon summer?
Gordon has done well with shots recently, but the distribution still gives me the fear.
At the moment there seems to be no credible push from any of his understudies to take the no. 1 spot.
Do you reckon we are developing a young keeper as the replacement?

How many 'good' keepers have we every produced? I couldn't think of any!

Boruc? Marshall? Bonner?

16 Jan 2018 13:26:19
David Marshall has had a good career.

16 Jan 2018 13:40:55
We had shay given on our books and let him go, not sure if that's what you mean but just one that's not been mentioned.

16 Jan 2018 14:19:49
Boab was boruc not already an international by time he signed for us?

16 Jan 2018 14:40:54
I was meaning youth development into first team.
I’d forgot about david marshal - cracking game against Barcelona years ago.

I liked Stuart Kerr but he had to leave to play more football, it's a shame he had to retire so early.

Agree0 Disagree2

16 Jan 2018 15:55:27
We had brad friedel and shay given on the books at same time. Givens contract was up and Lou macari wouldn’t pay his digs on top of his wages then Blackburn cane in and offered double - just finished reading packies book on hols 😂.

Boruc was only a year into his international careee when he signed for us but I firmly believe he got better under Stevie woods.

As for developing young players, keeper is one that rarely sees someone from the academy make the grade and step up and we always have someone with more experience as number 1! To be fair in the last 10/ 20 years very few players have made the step up from the youths to first team. KT, Forrest McGeady and Maloney are the only ones I can think of.

Stuart Kerr was decent too. For me though keeper is one of always rather see a quality experienced player fill.

Fraser Forster isn't a bad one either.
