I did hear it Malika but I'm hoping not true and nobody spots him anywhere near Glasgow. We have enough better players in CB position. I'm also praying Boyata is swiftly shown door he is rotten.

If I really had to guess I would say gylfi sigurdsson or Bastian Schweinsteiger but as I say just guessing. Scweinsteiger I heard mentioned by other fans few weeks ago and it's more than possible media are just jumping on that for a story BUT you never know.

Gylfi Sigurdsson (sp) just signed a new 4 year deal I think? But I agree skinnybhoy I think there will be another marquee signing if we get through the playoff. Schweinsteiger probably a step too far but do think we'll definitely have a new hero come our way. just a matter of the old wait and see.

Purely because of the wages this guy is on, it will be a big no no. Not disputing there may or may not be this big marquee signing. But its not going to be someone on £13m a year. That's over £1m a month. we wouldn't pay that annually.

Sigurdsson, - is that a joke? Everton wanted him before he signed his new contract. They were prepared to go to £25 million supposedly and neither Swansea or the player were interested! Our marquee signings are along the lines of a robbie Keane on loan it's highly unlikely bastian schweinstiger or sigurdson would come to celtic.

Well going on your guesses Skinnybhoy you'd be just as well shutting your eyes and putting a pin in a huge list of players, and good players at that! You could also have went for Bolasie as well, he's moved for over £20 million today! As for Duffy and this marquee signing well half of Glasgow has been saying the same thing for 6 weeks, they're either speaking to your contacts, guessing, or don't have a clue!

Has anyone considered if we actually need a "marquee" signing?

I wouldn't see the benefit to a 40k+ a week player coming in for what would realistically only be 6 CL games.

I think personally we do need to add to our midfield and ideally I would like another striker.

I'm so far content with our business and i'm confident we have enough to have a cracking domestic season.

its not about need, why wouldn't you want a player on 40k if he would make us a lot better? You enter a different league when paying that sort of money (if you get value for money mind you) my point is your not going to sign a player like griffiths and give him 40k so as long as we don't buy him from the super inflated BPL (where players like bollasie go for 20+mil) I would be ecstatic with a "marque" signing.

Sorry but I'm old fashioned where I would prefer a youngster or a relative unknown to a ready made overpaid player but that's just my opinion. And realistically what do you get for £40k a week? Bolasie will be pushing closer to 90k than 40k.

Mind that other team in Glasgow that made lots of "marquee" signings, can't mind there name.

Squad looks content and players are busting a gut to impress the new boss hope we are careful and don't distrupt that with a player on sky high wages. Be careful what you wish for.

I like Roberts he's good player, kinda the player we thought forest would be lol.
And no real risk as we know what he can do, I would be surprised if BR didn't want to keep him.

It's about want tick, do you not want a player that is better than everything we have atm? You want young unproven players you have not seen do anything at any sort of level? Rather than someone who has proved they can perform in whatever role it is they play? You want to be in the CL don't you? Your never going to get there signing players that might be good that is what we have been doing the past 10 years not exactly worked out has it? I mean who knows if balde pukki etc would have came good? As they didn't have a chance after failing to score 100 goals in a handful of sub appearances. I would take a Player like Defoe (to put a name out there) over any of the players we have signed in the past 4 windows (excluding this one as I have been quite pleased) . Lennon got us into the CL but I can assure you there was no chance of him signing a player on 40k (not by his own choice as had we backed him he would still be in charge now IMO) . I say let's buy both we have lots of young prospects in the team what we lack is experience, Rodgers has added that but you can never have enough top players IMO.

Don't see the logic personally in signing players for signing sake.
IMO there isn't a need for marquee players in general however if sombody is available that will improve the team and we can afford it then of course I would be happy as any celt would be that's stating the obvious.
Not really going to base br on the last 10 years as he wasn't our manager and if you look at the players he's brought in its so far so good. I've also been really impressed with what he's doing with what he inherited, brown is getting back to his best, forrest looks like the player he was 3 years ago and there is young O'connell pushing through.
