Evening ED007 I see southampton have opened talks with Celtic over hooviveld, what is a realistic fee in your eyes for him £1m? £2m? I think we paid £1.5m for him even recover most of that.
I also saw a rumour linking us with McLean of St Mirren any info on this ED007 hail hail Timalloy {Ed007's Note - We paid £1.4 million for Hooiveld, his contract runs until 2013, I would imagine we should recoup the money we spent on him, he is highly rated at Southampton by all accounts and is playing with a lot of confidence, in a good team. As for the Kenny McLean stories, CFC have scouts at all SPL matches and he has caught their eye, how solid the interest is though I am not so sure, Burnley are reportedly interested in him as is another un-named Championship side (Derby????).

Believable7 Unbelievable7

I think we will get about £1million. He's playing well and he is only on loan there until January. If they dont buy him I think a few Championship clubs will come in for him.

Timalloy it's not like you to make the front pages of this site. It's normally the back pages lol.

How come this player is good away from Celtic park ?
Is it our training and coaching staff that fall short and not the players ??

Agree0 Disagree0

I asked the same question, why are Celtic struggling in defence and up front? Why are players good when they leave? {Ed007's Note - From what Ed003 tells me (he is a Blackpool fan and watches a lot of Championship/lower league games) he has said that Southampton are a good footballing team that are playing well and with a lot of confidence, as is Hooiveld, maybe it is a confidence thing with him, but he has impressed down there.}

Agree0 Disagree0

So if he has his confidence back and his loan deal expires in January, get him back and get him in the team!

If he's not upto it then we can sell him in the summer!

Seems like a lot of our players perform away on loan. I though hooiveld was all right here, too tbh. Rasmussen was all right here when he played. They just weren't in lennys plans. He should take notice.

Agree0 Disagree0

The irony of a Celtic centre half starring in the championship while we have to put up with the comedy stylings of Big Dan and Loovens. Is there any way back for Jos?

Agree0 Disagree0

If I was him, I wouldn't be happy if I was forced to come back. We should let him go, too late to do it differently now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hooiveld will be back at Celtic in January. With the defence crisis we currently have, it would be stupid to sell a player who is performing well at the moment.

He is a good player, he has just been unfortunate to have struggled with injuries and not been given a chance under Lennon (who i still think will be out the door in jan)

Agree0 Disagree0

Imo we should be asking the question why has this player suddenly came good since he moved? He's spoken about the team spirit and confidence. Two MAJOR issues I'm sure have been missing this season.

Celtic to make offer of 1million for jordan rhodes and a 700k bid for templeton and a 1.5million bid for cairney from hull city in january 3 good young players hope this is true and celtic to loan out jamea keatings in january aswell {Ed007's Note - Huddersfield have put a £2 million price tag on Rhodes. with Newcastle and Fulham both keen to sign him.}

Believable9 Unbelievable35

Rhodes is to Gd for the spl {Ed007's Note - CFC were close to signing him but went for Hooper instead.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Could have got him last year not now {Ed007's Note - I would think he is EPL bound now as well.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Where are Celtic getting the £3m to sign these players?

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love to get Rhodes but think a decent premiership team will sign him up soon. Missed the boat on him just like McCarthy and Fletcher

Agree0 Disagree0

'Where are Celtic getting the £3m to sign these players?'.... Eh, Celtic have next to no debt and unlike our Blue Cousin's have no problem obtaining credit from financial institutions as we pay our debts and taxes so jog on mate!

I'd love to see these 3 players at Parkhead but really can't see it happening, especially Rhodes

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic are selling the stadium name unfortunatly so we will get a good bit of cash for that if this happens bedore january we will have money to spend

Agree0 Disagree0

Europa league money - £5million (ish) right enough that could be kept for a new manager if Lennon goes boo boo

I am sick of Lawell and the rest of the incompetent board. Celtic is our club not theirs (or desmond's) see how far they can get without the support. I think the fans should be clear about the naming rights to the stadium. Celtic park should stay Celtic park. How do we stop it, well just let it be known to potential buyers the result will be that no Celtic fans will then buy their products. I am sure this would make them reconsider {Ed007's Note - It will always be Celtic Park, Parkhead or Paradise to the fans, naming rights are only a form of advertising, like shirt sponsorship deals. I would welcome the move as it would bring in a fair bit of revenue I would imagine.}

Agree0 Disagree0

To the poster above with no name. Don't get your knickers in a twist it's not good for you lol. It was only a discussion we were having the other day about how would people feel if our clubs would change the name of the stadiums. As Ed said the fans will always call if Celtic park / Ibrox. You wouldn't be saying your going to the Poundland stadium or in Rangers case The Orange Stadium lol.

About selling the name of the stadium whats the problem in doing this? We make next to no money from tv revenue and heavily rely on champions league money or selling a star eg. Mcgeady. Bringing in this extra revenue would then allow us to get a better side playing out on the park and if you dont want that then what do you want?

Paddy

Agree0 Disagree0

I am a gers fan but i understand you're points on parkhead/ibrox naming rights but i fear thats the way we (collective) will have to go with the new financial fairplay rules that start next season i think we will just have to ignore the big shiney new name signs and keep our heritage in our hearts to get by

Agree0 Disagree0

If the whole spl can only get a couple million for their tv rights for an entire season then we or rangers would be lucky to get maybe 1 million per season.
Why would a large company pay x million to have their name on a stadium that outside scotland barely anyone wants to see. {Ed007's Note - Advertising, just like all these companies (amongst others) who sponsor or put money into CFC:

Tennents
Nike
Ralph Lauren
Thomas Cook
Scottish Leader (whisky producer)
MBNA
Coca-Cola
Citylink
Lomond Audi
Football Saver
Powerade
Clydesdale Bank
ESPN
Sky Sports

I wood happily take money to change the name of the stadium money is hard to come by these days it shood make a differance what the stadium is called as long as celtic are playing there we support the team not the stadium
