Any news on hooper to norwich and us getting Morrison and cash from them hope this ain't true because don't want Morrison but that's the news doing the rounds from Norwich fans

Believable2 Unbelievable14

Morrison? if it is James Morrison your on about he doesn't play for Norwich..... He plays for WBA

Kdogg

Agree0 Disagree0

No it wasn't James Morrison he was on about, it was Steve Morrison from Norwich, the team that the OP suggested!

Agree0 Disagree0

Its steve morrison he mean scored a couple last season but wouldn't take him poor scoring record or 1 in 5

Agree0 Disagree0

Unlucky Kdogg.

Steve Morison (who does in fact play for Norwich) aren't actually a bad player. No Hooper though. I'd still want £6-7m cash as part of the deal though. I'm putting a ball-park value of £8m up on Hooper given that he's clearly running down a deal which will only have a year left in the Summer - by which point Celtic would probably snap £4-5m of somebody.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would not mind Grant Holt in any deal but suspect wage's would be problem

Ed, looks like we missed the boat on another one, Kim Ojo signed for Genk for 1million euros! If we are going to buy, hope its not bargain bin rubbish! I fancy Agudelo! Seems like a player! {Ed007's Note - I seen that about Ojo. I suggested Genk's Jelle Vossen might be available now.}

Believable0 Unbelievable3

Sounds like a good shout ed 14 goals from 21 appearances this season.
bigD

Agree0 Disagree0

Genk appear to be operating in a similar way to ourselves. they have clearly scored the globe for players, and are looking at young athletic players who will be sought after in bigger leagues. A glance at their squad - and it has a few similarities with Celtic's. All 4 corners of the world - Isaelis, Africans, Dutch, South americans, even a Kenyan! They have moved for several players who Celtic have been linked with, and signed Sandomierski (polish keeper) a year or so ago. This window they have moved for the 2 guys from the norwegian league (Celtic also scout hard in scandinavia - Norway included) Mbodj, and now Ojo. Mbodj certainly appears to be a player, and could have been the 'second Wanyama' who I feel we need to find before Vic leaves! Ojo I have not seen, but clearly he is rated, and could perform in the target man role - which is something i feel we need.

Well it looks like Wanyama could off to QPR for 6M + M'Bia before the weekend.

Also Hooper looks like he'll join Liverpool after turning down a new contract with us. Don't know a price but anything less than 9M is a disgrace.

Jamesey Bhoy

Believable5 Unbelievable28

This rumour makes me yawn more than any other! What's your logic behind this story you have clearly made up? Wanyama will not goto qpr, he's too big for that club! Wanyama will go to a top 4 epl side, in the summer, for more than your silly estimation and NO player swap, hard cash only! As for hooper he won't go anywhere until the summer, we will still get good money for him and he will go with all true bhoys wishing him the best! Hail hail!

Loopy hoopy

Agree3 Disagree0

I really have my doubts on this one............surely he will get an offer from a decent club and not one destined to be playing championship football next season. Steveomac

Agree0 Disagree0

Who started this? harrys dug?,,, deep river bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Behave yourself, qpr yeh i am sure victor fancies a relegation battle rather than wait play some more cl football then take his pick from the top premiership clubs

Agree0 Disagree0

Where did you see or hear that? wanyama to qpr lol, i've just fell off my chair laughing, why would he sign for a team that looks likely to get relegated

Agree0 Disagree0

You want 9m for Hooper but are happy to accept 6m for Wanyama?

Ok then...

Let's see, M'Bia cost Marseille 10.4m in 2009 and signed for QPR for an undisclosed fee but a doubt for a fiver.

Oh and the fact that M'Bia is a transfer target for Chelsea...

Agree0 Disagree2

If Wanyama is available this window expect bids from arsenal, man utd & possibly barca. All three have asked to be kept informed of his situation.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mbia is prob worth more than wanyama in todays current market. Total fantasy story. Stick to football manager mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you a supporter i can't imagine if you are that you would dream up crazy ideas like that i doubt any players will leave in jan the will want to stay for juventus and wnt be in a hurry out the door at the moment maybe in the summer but alot can happen between now and then.

Peter cardiff

Agree0 Disagree0

Aha

m'vila is of to QPR deal almost done and mbia is now being linked with chelsea

no need for wanyama to leave

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanyama will be off to man utd or arsenal in the summer for a fee of around 12.5m possibly rising to 15m.
Hr has 2 years left on his contract at the end of the season and supposedly we already have his replacement lined up.
Don't know who it is but been hearing stories from a few youth boys who train with the first team that he is in the same mould, big and strong like Vic, who knows but but I do think we will produce another gem.
Hr is far far too good for qpr, I can see him going to arsenal and in about 2 3 years going to barca for a player swap with Alex song or thiago alcantara or maybe even busuets

Agree0 Disagree0

6m for Wanyama ? Double it and we will start talking . As for Hoops I don't think he is a 9m player, I think he will go for 5/6 mil to be honest and I would be happy with that .

CelticMatt

Agree0 Disagree0

OK - this 'rumour' is clearly total rubbish. QPR will probably get relegated... wanyama will go nowhere near them. It does make me ask 1 question though - WTF is M'bia doing at QPR in the first place? Even though epl wages are good, why on earth would he join that dross from a successful marseille side?

Is anyone else having problems getting to the checkout online to get reserved tickets for the juve game?

MikeyBhoy88

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Call Celtic a press option 1 then option 2 to get straight to the ticket office at CP and they will sort you out if you are a season ticket holder. There is only Lisbon Lions and Jock stein stand tickets left after the have moved hundreds of folk for the uefa delegates.

If your not a ST holder, thursday morning 9am the lines open to buy them, same number. Woman at the ticket office told me today there might not even be a general sale as they might all be gone before then, maybe why your having trouble reserving them.

Unfortunately the transfer speculation has been as much about players leaving as coming in.
I know there are mischief makers and mal-contents that like to sh*t stir, but we are all to aware of the likes of Hooper and Wanyama's situation.
Our scouting system has been outstanding during NL's tenure although over the past few seasons there have been a few loan disappointments; so I would prefer the club to persevere with quality permanent signings to allow any unhappy players to leave before they become an unsettling influence and distraction going into the second half of a season that promises so much.

Hi ed, i have been hearing the boy from austrailia who is on trial with us, has been really tearing it up in training and standing out like a sore thumb. At something like half a million pound really hope we get this boy rogic singed up

Believable22 Unbelievable2

The kid is an absolute gun, and with plenty potential to come. being in australia - his side central coast have basically said make us an offer, this is even with the practice match coming up. Seems Central Coast are keen to finalise something prior to them allowing us to test him in a match enviroment. Reported down here that QPR have made a 700k bid for him, but seems his choice is celtic, and his original 250k tag has inflated. Looks like we could get him around 600k, and believe me he will be worth 20X's that in years to come.

What are peoples opinion on the 12-12-18. Is it the best format for celtic and/or scottish football.
Obviously the decision should be made for the whole of scottish football but i was wondering what would be the best outcome solely for us? Its hard to ensure that the fixtures don't get boring but at the same time there are not enough quality teams to make up a top league of 20

Believable4 Unbelievable2

I hate to say it but I've got to agree with Green 14-14-14 but with a split after the second round of matches. top 6 and bottom 8 to play each other twice more. Ticman

Agree1 Disagree0

I actually like it. And would welcome seeing it in action.

Look, the fact is, the SPL/Premiership/Top Division, whatever you want to call it, is always going to be dominated by 1 of 2 teams, and the race for the title will almost always be between these teams. So it becomes about making the rest of the league interesting, and I think this is an interesting proposition.

The middle eight would certainly lead to some excitement, and with the amount of games on offer, it would be difficult for anyone to 'skoosh' it. So some seasons all four Premiership teams could be relegated, or none at all. And if a Hearts, or Aberdeen or the like find themselves in the bottom four after 22 games, then tough titty- prove you deserve to be in the top league by winning the middle eight.

My only real concern, I say concern but I don't think it's being explained yet, so maybe someone else can answer this:

What would the bottom eight, ie the eight from the second division, be playing for, other than avoiding relegation?

The bottom four would be relegated/playoffs etc with the 'National League' of eighteen, but above that- nothing? As far as I can tell they wouldn't get a thing- so if you were, let's say fifth at the split, and quite a bit ahead, when the split happened, you'd then have nothing to play for?

If this is the case, we should look to incentivise this section.

Finally, to those who say we can't change now, it should be with a season notice etc, this is actually the best way. If you were to announce changes with a season to play, the numbers would drop off. At least this way, it's only half a season- as opposed to 'next' season being pointless. I don't know if we, as a footballing country, can have an entire season calender marked off as 'pointless' before it's begun.

The fact is, this isn't about Celtic and Rangers, but the whole of the game here- and while I sympathize for fans who have bought season tickets etc, it's the only way. A way to deal with that would be to help fans next season with some sort of financial reward- so if you bought a season ticket this year, you get 15% off next year etc.

The Patient

Me too. The 3 x 14 teams set-up makes more sense.

12-12-18 or 14-14-14 ......
Both formats leave Rangers FC in the bottom tier playing against the same teams as this season, Chuckles Green has repeatedly stated that Rangers will not play in the SPL again while he is in charge and that they are happy to be in the bottom tier and looking forward to the journey back up through the leagues, added to that the fact that Rangers are only associate members and therefore not entitled to a say, far less a vote on any Reconstruction process, why does this "Mouthpiece" keep putting his tuppence worth in, and why is his proposal more favourable to Rangers than the 18-12-12 being mooted ? they will be in the same position under both formats ..... Discuss !!

Agree0 Disagree0

I like the idea of 12 12 18 but i would rather they make it 12 12 10 10 and bring in two more teams

Agree0 Disagree0

16-16-10 would be best in my opinion. Teams play each other twice in top two divisions, 4 in bottom. bring in a group stage for league cup (scrap lower league cup) and have spl teams entering after this is complete. Winter break, usual set up for scottish cup. What does everyone think?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ideally it would be great to expand the top league but at this moment in time it would not work until more cash is put into the Scottish game.

All you would be doing is adding quantity but diluting the quality. Would 2 more teams make the SPL more interesting or would it be 2 more games of watching teams packing their defences.

We want Clubs who gain places in Europe (CL or Europa) to be able to at least compete. If we dilute the money in the SPL by adding 2 more teams, this would take money away from your Dundee Utd, Aberdeen, Motherwell's etc but not for the good.

No for me its about quality not quatity at this moment in time.

It's being reported that we had a scout at the Benfica versus Porto game at the weekend.
No names mentioned - You heard anything about this Ed007?
hh
/BB {Ed007's Note - Possibly Alan Kardec.}

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Kardec didn't feature in the game so can't be him.

This was the line-ups who played:

Benfica: Artur; Maxi Pereira, Jardel, Garay, Melgarejo; Matic, Gaitán (Ola John 88'), Enzo Pérez (Carlos Martins 58'), Salvio; Lima (Aimar 69'), Cardozo.

Porto: Helton; Danilo, Otamendi, Mangala, Alex Sandro; Fernando, Lucho (Castro 90'), Moutinho; Defour (Izmaylov 75'), Martínez, Varela (Abdoulaye 88').

Can't see us bing in the market for many of these guys!
HH
/BB {Ed007's Note - Scouts don't know the teams until they are announced prior to the game.}

Agree0 Disagree0

He never played any part in the game - Darylbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Young Brazilian boy would he not require a work permit Ed? Was a big prospect when he was young but has never really made it at Benfica!

gazcfc21 {Ed007's Note - Off the top of my head Gaz I would imagine he would.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Am i tripping or were we not linked with Jardel the centre half a while ago? {Ed007's Note - Wasn't that during last year's January window? Benfica wanted 4.5 million Euros for him at the time.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Many Brazillians hold dual nationality (with Portugal) if he has this he can by pass the usual international appearances clause

If by any chance that turned out to be the post window squad I'd be ecstatic !

Agree0 Disagree0

Rogic, absolute star i can't say enough about the talents of this kid - I watch him weekly

Rojas is an interesting one, being in melbourne I support the cross town rival of Rojas, they call him the New Zeland Messi. Quick explosive, and scores. Rojas and Rogic in our side would be awesome, I can see them playing well next to one another, and both are international reps for their respective countries, if we got those guys and they can score even from the centre - maybe we wouldn't need to buy a forward. Or perhaps buy one as a development. Rojas and Rogic will absoutely hit 20-30 goals between then without a sweat.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rojas is a gun. Excellent on the left and versatile enough to switch when needed.
