Apparently there is a very good chance Guidetti will be going to Southampton as Ronald Koeman is a massive fan of his as he managed him when he had his terrific spell on loan at Feyenoord if this is true we will never be able to compete with the wages on offer and of course the beast that is the Premiership.

Cant see it, spent big on Pelle, Mane & Long - why have a 4th player that would want to be first pick?

Agree1 Disagree2

Money would be the reason why! PL is trying to get our wages maxing out at 15k and that's why we lost Ledley and why we are probably going to loose commons through being too tight fisted and lowering our ambition! I hope guidetti stays, one of the best strikers in the world gave us his prime years so hopefully guidetti feels at home like our super swede hero!

Because he's quality Kev that's why. There shouldn't be too many clubs not looking at him as a good value opportunity. We need to act. The thread below AH is mentioning our inability signing strikers - well we know how good this one is because he's in the hoops! If we don't sign him, and I find out it's because we refused to pay him the going rate, all faith in our transfer policy will have been lost. As it is clearly not towards the benefit of the team. We're a football club, not a pharmaceutical, chemical or energy company Peter!

They still have jay rodriguez 2 come back from injury aswel so can't them going for guidetti tbh

Southampton looking to spend big money on boy from Palermo, I agree way Jim the wage structure at celtic becoming a joke we letting quality players slip away I don't think we keep guidetti & it pains me to say that but also think we lose brown because I don't think he will get offered same wages he on just now, the board are becoming a joke pains me a say it also but the gap between us & them no as big as everyone thinks & again the boards penny pinching has had a lot to do with that Liewell said before end of last season we could spend at least 4 million on 1 player if he wanted then says he won't put the club into financial difficulties by paying to much money, fair enough but make your make your mind up because it making us look a laughing stock, tbh aswell I hope Desmond going to get finger out cause if fat Ashley going put money into them for transfers I would be concerned cause he worth more than Dermot.

Wouldn't worry too much about situation. Sounds like media stirring again. One way to look at it, if koeman rates guidetti as highly as reported surely he would of been signed for southampton for nominal development fee in August?

I would be surprised if PL did not get Guidetti tied down on permanent deal. Represents value for money.

I see talk on my social media that Sepovic could be for the off back to Spain in January on loan. Why can our scouts spot players like Izzy, Wanyama Lustig and big Virgil but we keep getting it wrong when it comes to strikers.

{Ed007's Note - I've said the same thing before, I'm starting to wonder if John Park is the right man to rely on when it comes to strikers. You can't really fault him for defenders or midfielders but his judgement on strikers is definitely questionable.}

You can't put the blame on John Park! Neither can you give him the credit for Wanyama, Virgil etc. It's the manager that has the final say. John Park is the chief scout that has player's recommended to him from hundreds of scouts from around the world. These are forwarded to the manager and he makes the decision to either drop interest or take it further. No way can this be a one man network.

{Ed007's Note - Ok then, I'm so sorry for that and thanks for clearing it up for everyone. (headbang)

Ed to be honest his track record over the past 2 seasons has been awful all over the park. Look at how many players we have signed over last season and how many are still there? I don't think any loan signing will be with us at end of this season apart from Guidetti so it's not just strikers

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - To be fair he's looking at a totally different market now when you see the amount of loans we have. RD spoke out against loans and then that's really all he was given and it limits the players available, we'd probably turn down signing a Wanyama if the chance came up this summer. I expect Denayer to stay on loan for another year, Man City are happy with the way things are going and another season up here won't do him any harm, a lot will depend if Pellegrini is still in charge at City next season.}

I see where dhanny is coming from each transfer is a combination of JP, PL and his merry men, and the manager. How much weight in the final decision from each of these figures varies. Lately though, I think the manager has had very little say. Is Berget perhaps RD's only real signing for example? When we're signing players without even having a manager dhanny, it can hardly be the managers shout.

Share you're frustration AH. Ed is right though we just don't stump up for the pedigree. JG is the first player in a while I've been genuinely excited about, knowing their quality. And we may not even keep him!

We scouted a good striker in Croatian striker Kramaric but as quoted by his agent they were left ''standing in the rain'' and we chose to go back after Scepovic. I read earlier in week Chelsea and Spurs are reported to be after him for something like 10m!
