Balotelli-absolute money spinner, absolute right man to take on Juve, absolute nutter!

Agree0 Disagree0

Always likes Christian Eriksen from Ajax but probably cost a bit more

Agree0 Disagree0

Tim Matavz -  PSV Eindhoven. Missed the boat there big time. Wonder how much it cost to get him now.

John guidetti for me. AbS

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Shammy. Maybe you won't agree but my fantasy signing would be Frank Lampard. I read that his girlfriend says she hopes he stays in the UK as they are getting married soon and she would like to stay near to her family. What do you think? Julieghirl

Agree0 Disagree0

5 million to give Lubo some brand new legs, dd

Agree0 Disagree0

"Balotelli-absolute money spinner, absolute right man to take on Juve, absolute nutter!"

LOL, Nice theory but the only thing more ridiculous than him coming to us would be us getting him for less than 10 as the OP mentioned.

My choice, Sneider I think. He or Rafael Van Der Vaart (spelling?) would pull the strings for us. Although doubt RVDV would be less than 10m as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Donati? :P Daviebhoy77

PS: I've always liked Shaun Wright Phillips and reckon we'd probably get him for under 5 mill. RVDV would be amazing too but still think we're pretty good to go with what we've got.

Agree0 Disagree0

Willy Boly from Auxerre for me. We were allegedly looking at him last window, but it all went quiet. would not be expensive - but is a big, bruising, physical defender, who dominates in the air. SPL teams would not be able to go 'route 1' against us with someone like him at the back.

Agree0 Disagree0

With that kind of money, it would be great to get a top class striker, but my signing would be Lampard, still got 3/4 yrs in him

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

Think we missed the snip of the season in Michu... Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree0

Out who everyone has said, I'd take lamps...he has that something about him, might not go gung ho round the pitch these days but he's a class act! Shaun wright philips for me isn't a good player, watched him for years struggle to make a name for himself, he's one of they players...bags of petentail at youth level and until he was 24 ish now I just watch him in that QPR team and think, your not good enough even for QPR son! So wouldn't want him even in fantasy land, other players I'd like to see in hoops that wouldn't happen I'd van der vaart or young cristian eriksen of ajax...what a player that boy is, but he will be at real madrid in next 2-3 years.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shaun wright phillips "trying to make a name for himself"? The little-uns a multi millionaire from the name he's tried to make for himself, ., .kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

Some pretty odd 'fantasy' shouts here. Crikey for 10m we could sign Demba Ba. I don't see any reason why the likes of Guidetti or Jordan Rhodes should be out the question now if Hooper was to be sold.

I've got to say (and offices this is just IMO) but all this hooper stuff is just rubbish!?!? How or even who knows what hopper has said to anyone ? We wouldn't know even if he did?
It was always a cert he was going to play in the EPL for sure. and best of luck when he goes! Don't start giving the guy sh&t£t for stuff we know nothing about! Hail hail {Ed007's Note - I have to disagree with you on that one. I am not saying he deserves any abuse but I have been telling people on here for months what has been going on. Even now the talk of changing agent is because Dent didn't get him a move away in the summer after Hooper had told NL he wanted to move back down south. All this garbage in the papers and media about hoping Hooper was going to sign a new contract and they 'weren't far away' was posturing by the club, they already knew the player had no intention of signing any extension.}

Believable2 Unbelievable4

13 Jan 2013 23:08:23
Think its naive to think that nobody knows who said what and to whom these days. The club nor player has denied that he said he wants away so take from that the lad wants away and that is life. He's been as good as gold and now it's someone else's turn. Not sure that spending all the money the club will get for him is the answer-NL and JP have the ability to unearth a 25 goals a season striker for little outlay.

Andy

Agree0 Disagree0

Peter Lawell should do the best for the club and sell him in the window. Some Clubs are desperate just now and end up paying over the odds. Beyond the window Hooper's value starts to tumble as his contract runs down. If he wants to go which seems highly likely, then take the bounty now.

Agree1 Disagree0

The club have lost better players over the years than hooper, plus he's got a touch of scott mcdonald syndrome, lazy and moody.

So if he doesnt want to stay let him go NOW and use the money to buy 2 decent strikers who will slot right into the team.

Craig Mackail-Smith would be a good option and the Greek Kostas Mitroglou would be another, i'm sure his transfer fee would cover them both.

Agree0 Disagree1

My opinion is that Hooper will be sold as soon as a decent offer comes in from an EPL team he likes. More than likely in this window and for between 7-10 mill. He is a very effective striker but I think he may lose his way in the future unless he has a strong experienced manager who can get the best out of him. Sopotcelt

Agree0 Disagree0

Talking about Scott McDonald, i would have him back in a minute tbh. He is running out of contract and i bet you he would take a wage cut to come back. Even if it was him and another striker who we may have scouted. He scored even more goals than Hooper has in the league and more in europe. Miku, Bangura and Lassad will end up for the off eventually so we need a couple.

Agree1 Disagree0

And who is Hooper going too? A mid-table team in the EPL at best. So thanks for the goals Gary...now off to Norwich, Stoke or another small team who can give you the the next platform before your move to Barca and the first choice Engurland striker position that you believe cannot be achieved in Scotland!

Agree0 Disagree0

Norwich fan here I hope hooper comes to Norwich If he does it won't be 7-10m 5-6m this window summer 4-5m then next jan he will be 1-3m so it depends if Norwich come in but I would love Norwich to get him I think the club will play to his strengths specialy with CH as manager I have a felling tho if he does and he plays well for the rest of this season and next I can see him being sold for profit to the likes of Liverpool or a club willing to pay 50-60l chances are tho If true some club will offer him more then Norwich and he will go there sadly Norwich have a very strict wage structure till we are out of debt belive we have about 10m transfer kitty left

Agree0 Disagree0

Hark at Mr Norwich, buying him for 5 and selling him on to liverpool for 50-60 million.

Agree0 Disagree0

On the subject of McDonald continued, he was a distruption in the dressing room.

Outed as the 'mole' to those fine upstanding journalists, Jabba Traynor and Keith Jackson.

The only thing Chin Mowbray did right was getting shot of him once and for all.

Agree0 Disagree0

McDonald does want out of Boro' but is looking for a move nearer his wife's family in Hampshire

Agree0 Disagree0

Claie mcdonald is scottish why would he want to move to the bottom of england...............epic fail

Ed do you know any further information on what's happening with Rogic and Agudelo? I think we need to get these lads in post haste. They both look like crackers.

Quack. {Ed007's Note - There is nothing new Quack, sorry. Agudelo has been back in LA since last weekend with Chivas still saying he is not for sale and the Rogic position is just as NL has said.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I read that QPR have bid for Rogic, no trial, loans just a firm offer

Agree0 Disagree0

Wrong ed, he's been in London at West Ham {Ed007's Note - So who has joined up with the USA squad? You better call up Jurgen Klinsmann and tell him there is an imposter at his Carson training camp! He flew out of London last Saturday, do try and keep up.}

Been hearing the stories about Hooper wanting to leave in the Summer. Anyone think there's a chance of him signing a new deal so the club get paid? Reckon it would be a pretty shoddy move for him to run it down to command a fee but suppose its his prerogative. I do think we will need him in CL but shame to lose him for nothing. Daviebhoy

Believable11 Unbelievable8

Got a really funny feeling that if he puts in a good shift over the 2 juve games and stokes comes back and play together they can a think he, ll stay.
He was about to get called up for the last England squad but pulled out through injury, so it shows he can be selected up here.
A think he, s missed stokes beside him but if he gets a call up to the nxt England squad and stokes earns a new deal he, ll stay

Agree0 Disagree1

Hes not running it down there will still be time left on it. and if you listened to the whole statement he said he would stay because he owes it to the fans. so get off his back he's been great for the club and sees that he needs to mive to epl to progress in his eyes and we should respect that

Agree0 Disagree0

If he goes in the summer Celtic will still get "paid" as he'll still have a year on his contract! That's the latest this story will run unless he signs a new contract? Even if he does sign a new one its still looking likely he'll leave, he's made his mind he wants to play in EPL or higher standard than where he currently is.

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

Hooper is staying for the rest of the season, I'd have taken that before the start of the window and it's still good enough for me. If he does well against Juve then the England call up will come and his price will also rise. I hope Vic follows his lead.

Agree0 Disagree0

OK, didn't realise that he had a year left-my mistake. But how exactly am I on his back? WHile I wouldn't have liked him running the deal down, I said that was his prerogative-some of you might need to look that one up as its basically me saying its his right to do so. Did read the whole statement and while he's doing it for the fans, I reckon the shop window of a CL lst 16 tie does figure into it too. Daviebhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Put a post up a few days ago saying hooper was offered 20k take it or leave it this window. The league should be ours and we have 180 min against a team who was undefeated in 50 games.on the night anything can happen.sami is banging the goals in Europe and hooper has spend more time in silver sissors hairdressers in st Vincent st than sitting down trying to tie him down for another year so we get more money for him.hes a good player and if he leaves in this window is would be a side step not a forward one

Lenny

Agree0 Disagree1

Personally, as a fan for more than thirty years, i no longer get attached to great players who wear the hoops. too many fans get so emotionally involved in the 'will he/wont he go' soap opera that surrounds football these days. its all run as a business nowadays and so whatever happens rest assured Celtic will get what's best for them. Long gone are the days when the likes of McClair and Johnston went for the paltry sums of 825, 00 and 350,000 respectively. Deals today are conducted with the utmost business professionalism so as to suit all parties. What cfc get for hooper is what they should get for his value in the marketplace not what the average emotionally imbalanced supporter thinks he's worth.

Agree0 Disagree0

You always need a goal scorer in the Champions League. Fair play to the boy he has my best wishes, I hold no grudge and neither should anyone else, he has been great for us.

Quack

Agree1 Disagree0

Daviebhoy your right about it being his prerogative to run down his contract but its a year and a half away, he's done nothin whatsoever to disrupt the contract, effort/ discipline!? And that's where your post and the nameless post about it being business link up.
Hooper won't sign a new contract as it could price himself out of a move, just now we could get up to 7-8 mill in the summer it could be 5-6 max, if he sign a new 3 year extension with wage increase Celtic would want double figures and that's not going to happen, same for Wanyama, Lennon mentioned 25 mil! It just means he's not for sale unless you want to pay mega money! Celtic will take Half of that when it gets to the point he's as desperate as Hooper to get away or he's not got long left on his contract. It's a business for the club not the supporters, Hoopers nowhere near being able to run down his contract.

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi to Celtic fans from Norwich fan.we are in need of a great striker, hooper fits the bill but I very much doubt we will be able to fund him.I think Liverpool maybe the sleeping lion and you will see it in the summer.Good luck for juve ! See you after for the friendly s

Agree0 Disagree1

GET RID WHILE THE BALLS IN OUR COURT! jimthetim....

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree John, I won't be unhappy if we get 5-6 mill for him. A great 3 seasons out of him and a decent sell on profit perhaps with a further sell on clause too? Sounds fine to me, only hope we can replace him with a similar standard or better. Daviebhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Striking options are healthy at the minute: Samaras on form, Tony Watt has been impressive, Lassad looks good, Stokes coming back will have something to prove and the Hooper millions. Goals will not be a problem whatever way you look at what happens with Hooper.

Agree0 Disagree0

Watt looks a better player anyway. Hooper never quite lived up to his potential for me. Cash in and cash out. Only natural an Englishman wants to play down there.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2013 10:08:17
So apparently hooper has said he'll stay till the end of the season because he wants to play in the juve game but he won't sign a new deal. If I was lennon I'd be telling him you won't be playing in the juve game if you don't want to be here.

I think hooper is being selfish and should at least sign an extension so we can get a good prince for him. Yes he wants to play in the epl but he is only 24 and still getting better. He will get his chance in England. Just personally think he should continue to develop with Celtic.

If he won't sign we should be looking to sell him now. Yes he's a quality striker on his day who knows where the goal is. But we have all seen his lazy side far to often now.

Cash in know. We had success before hooper and we will have success after him aswel.

MikeyBhoy88

Believable25 Unbelievable5

Totally agree
CM88

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know where you and other people say he is lazy for when he dosent have the ball he is running around and going back to mid to get it back. If he wants away in summer then I say sell him now as we might not get as much if he dosent sign. And to sell him in summer for what we paid for him would be dumb, as it will be a knock down price even with a year left. I would much rather the money and sell on fee then for him to play against juve as we have played against barca and did well without him. He can only play in cl if he signs a new deal is what I would say or else sell him to a small epl club where he will not get much game time and his chances for England I feel will deminish as he won't play as much as if he stayed and he would have been England if he wasn't hurt so I don't see how he feels he won't make the squad if he stays.

Agree0 Disagree0

Get of the guys back Ffs. You say you want him to sign but then say he's lazy! If he goes he'll be going with my best wishes. He's done a job for celtic and he's got every right to want a move.

Agree0 Disagree0

Such a narrow minded thing to say after all the goals he's scored for us Garry hooper deserves the respect he's earned not some idiot saying he should be dropped for wanting to leave in the summer! He has been brilliant for us and will make us a nice profit we are a selling club buy young and cheap and sell for a good profit! If you want a new job would it be ok for you to be treated different from every1 else? Of course not he deserves the opportunity to prove himself against better teams week in week out.

SOS-bhoy

Agree1 Disagree0

They are very disrespectful comments from you MikeyBhoy, not playing him against Juventus would be cutting off your nose to spite your face. The lad has done great for us and I wish him all the luck.

Fans sometimes forget that when a club thinks a player isnt good enough the are moved on and no one really feels the hit apart from the player. So if a player feels he has a chance he must take I can't blame him for taking it, players often need to be slightly selfish because you that club will be exactly the same if it was the other way around. And also you proved in your comments that the fans can be selfish too.

Bang a few in against Juventus Hooper son.

Quack

Agree0 Disagree0

How does that make me an person. I am entitled to my opinion. If the guy doesn't want to be here much longer why should he start ahead of someone who does.

MikeyBhoy88

Agree0 Disagree0

How are they bad comments. When he goes he'll go with my vest wishes but saying I'm only staying till the end of the season because we're playin juve is disrespectful from him I think. If we wasn't in Europe now he'd want out now. I want players playing for this club who wanna be here regardless of Europe. I am in no way trying to slate hooper because he's banged them in for us. Just think saying I'll stay till endow season because we've got a game against juve is disrespectful from him.

MikeyBhoy88

Agree0 Disagree0

He is under contract to the club, he can't go in a huff if he doesnt get a move ! the next 6 months form will have a major bearing on his future ! don't forget this guy has had alot disapointments of being loaned out and rejected by clubs, Celtic will tell him when its time for pasture new while he still got over a year on his contract .

Agree0 Disagree0

I think people need to realise that football clubs are not entitled to expect that a player signs a new contract every time the club decides that is what they wish. A player can spend the majority of his career at one club providing years of quality service and wish to stay at the club for a longer time and some times despite the player still playing at a consistently high level the club will refuse to offer him another contract.

Stop thinking that clubs have the divine right to demand that a player should sign a new contract.

People always say no player is bigger than the club; well the club is no bigger than the players who make it. Both are nothing with out one and the other.

Scotland Fan

Agree1 Disagree0

Quack. what if he has two awful games (he has had some) against Juve and we are pumped out of CL. He then drifts to end of season as league is already in the bag. I agree with MB. If we are not good enough for him at season's end then we shouldn't be good enough for him now. Good player but no way a great player. Let him go now for extra couple of million pounds with no hard feelings, and ignore this I owe it to the fans nonsense. We are not that naive.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats a bunch of if's man. The fact is he has banged in vital goals this season already and when you are playing against a team like Juve you need to play your best players and Gary Hooper is our best striker. If you choose not to play him you would be potentially damaging the clubs chances of advancing in the competition and that only has a negative affect on the club. Not to be too insulting, but there is no logical thought in that at all.

Quack.

any 1 else think player maybe stokes plus cash for charlie austin would be a gud bit of business ? personally i think he looks a crackin player still young and IF hooper leaves in the summer then would be a great replacement same kind of player scoles a barrel load and a think burnley would be interested in sellin for a decent price and adding a player with it aswel could seal it ano people wil say they would keep stokes but seems lennon is losin a lot of patience with him going by recent news what yous think ?
