Apparently because Leipzig are now in the EL he’s cup tied for Europe anyway.

Don't think he has played in the EL for them kevbhoy.

Compper was noted as possible back up to Simunovic and Boyata if as expected Sviatchenko leaves. Even if RB Leipzig were willing to sell the player why would he leave being a squad player in Germany to a squad player in Scotland? More importantly to me is why would we spend money in January on a 32-year-old who can't play in the EL and will be 33 by the time our next CL campaign starts?}

So Ed is any player who played in CL ineligible for EL? Are they both classed as the same?
{Ed007's Note - Basically yes, Kev. 44.02 (b) is the important one regarding Marvin Compper moving to Celtic. The rules are the same for the EL but it's Article 43 in the EL Regs.
UEFA CL Regs 2015-18 Paragraph 42.07:
As a rule, a player may not play in a UEFA club competition (i.e. UEFA Champions
League and UEFA Europa League, but not UEFA Super Cup) for more than one club in the course of the same season. Exceptionally, however, a player who has been fielded in the first, second, third qualifying round or the play-offs of the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League is entitled to play in the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League for another club as from the group stage. Moreover, as from the start of the round of 16, a player can be registered in accordance with Paragraph 44.01 to Paragraph 44.04. A substitute player who has not been fielded is entitled to play for another club competing in the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League in the course of the same season, provided that he is registered with the UEFA administration in accordance with the present regulations.
Paragraph 44.01:
For all matches from the start of the round of 16 (32 for the EL), a club may register a maximum of three new eligible players for the remaining matches in the current competition. Such registration must be completed by 1 February 2018 (24.00CET) at the latest. This deadline cannot be extended.
Paragraph 44.02:
One player from the above quota of three who has been fielded in a UEFA club competition group stage match for another club in the current season may exceptionally be registered, provided that the player has not been fielded:
a. in the same competition for another club; or
b. for another club that is currently in the same competition.

Right so if Leipzig had gone through or finished 4th Compper could have been registered as the exception? I'd guess the club are setting their sights higher than this guy anyway based on the amount of negative reviews he's been getting from practically anyone who knows German football.

What I liked about the possible signing of compper was that the boy has experience and I think that's what is lacking there BR brought in Toure for that when he first arrived think we need the same now. As to the nights game do we know how fit Bitton is the reason I ask is cause I think he plays better this season as part of a three at the back he then has the freedom to go forward into the middle of the park taking out any forward press team may put n us what do you think ED?
