hi guys a question for you all and no Sevconians please. there is an outstanding chance to win the holy grail of ten in a row do my fellow bhoys think lennon is the man to deliver. I beleive he can but have a few pals who reckon no. there point being we seem to have the habit under nl of shooting ourselves in the foot ie cup games ect so ed 007 and posters what do you think. click agree yes and disagree no {Ed007's Note - I think we have a great chance of getting 10 in a row but I think NL might fancy his chances down south before we get there.}

Believable26 Unbelievable14

10 in a row will be an enormous task, don't let anyone fool you. When "they" get to the SPL or whatever its called by then the will throw a fortune at stopping us getting 10. If we succeed it would be an incredible achievement.

If I had to bet on it. I would say no, sorry lads. And if you asked me the question do I think Lennon will be here till 10. No! I don't even think he will be here for 4 unfortunately.

Sounding pessimistic but in my head i'm just thinking clearly.

I would love it if i'm wrong. In fact I would happily streak on ibrox park with a tricolor if we done it lol

Agree0 Disagree1

In my opinion there is little or no chance of the Holy Grail. This is the downside of the modern game. This summer we will almost certainly lose three key players. Hooper, Wanyama and Forster will, I believe move on. That's three big holes to fill. Can we find three ready made players to bring in who will be such a success?Next year will be the same, players out and players in.

The way we are operating the club regarding transfers is in my opinion the correct way. Find a few gems but if the money is right move them on. This is a very tricky thing to get right every time. The Ajax system is probably the model we would like to reach but even they have barren spells while the new boys bed in.

Domestically we should be all right for two years. but as has been shown this season no result is guaranteed. It would also be foolish I think to discount Rangers from the picture for the next eight years. This is not to say we should worry about them, but when they return to the top league you know they will get better investment, and will challenge pretty much from season one.

Regarding Lenny, I have always thought he is the right man for us. Let's not forget he also has ambition though, the trick is can we deliver for him and he for us? The truth is from the Semi Final defeat v Ross County he has not really covered himself in glory trophy wise. Although not entirely to blame he still has much to prove, also let's not forget the team is still young and learning, but some of his Euro formations are encouraging. The Scottish Cup is a must for him this year or the questions will remain. green jhedi

GOOD QUESTION, BUT UNFORTUNATELY I THINK THE LURE OF SOME TINPOT EPL TEAM MIGHT TEMPT LENNY, THE 10 INA ROW SHOULD BE ACHIEVABLE QUITE EZY I THINK, BUT ITS THE 15 IAR I WANT, AT THE END OF 15IAR THEN don't MIND HIBS WINNING 1, NO PLACE IN THE RESTRUCTURING OF SCOTTISH FOOTBALL though FOR THE CHEATS FROM DIV 3, STILL don't MISS THEM 1 BIT, HAIL HAIL, GOD BLESS THE CELTIC+

Agree1 Disagree0

Thanks for the replys some really good points. and while I agree it won't be easy and would be foolish to write off the impersonators surely this shoud be the legacy that lawell desmond and lennon should aim for. this could be the greatest era in our beloved clubs history we could put the final nail in the coffin of you know who

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not sure if I would want our 10 in a row tarnished with claims from Rangers that we only got it because of their demise.

Agree0 Disagree4

I think they would outlaw football in this country before allowing 10 in a row. An almighty task 10 would love it but doubt it, we might be playing in a new league who knows? If lenny is here for 5 I would be happy but can't see him being here for 10 though that would be the ultimate icing on the cake for me. What green jhedi said about the Ajax model is spot on it isn't always meat & potatoes. Think of some of the player's who have left Ajax in the last couple of years what a team they would have today if they kept them. AbS HH

Agree0 Disagree0

If there is any justice, celtic will win ten in a row. it is the best way to punish them and to prove cheaters never win in the long run. leonbhoy

Agree1 Disagree0

I don't see lenny being at celtic past next summer, he will get fed up with our signing policy as he won't have a chance to take us far in europe, why stay with a team that will sell there best players every year, the very players that could make the difference in europe! 10 in a row I think we could maybe do it, but to say we would shows no respect to the other teams. let's be honest if that lot were in the spl this season, we would be trailing them as our form this season hasn't been good enough! {Ed007's Note - That's all ifs and buts though mate. If Rangers had paid their bill they would still exist, if the SPL had allowed the The Rangers/Sevco membership we could have compared it, but neither happened so it is a futile argument. Look at what Dundee Utd done to The Rangers/Sevco in the recent cup game. Our form has definitely not been the best but it will be years before we have the chance to compare our impeccably run club with Scotland's newest club The Rangers/Sevco, even then we will be miles infront of them financially and on the park. How many 6/7 year olds are moaning at their dad to take them to Ibrox to watch fourth division football when their CFC supporting friends are going to watch the cream of Europe and a team that reached the last 16 of the CL, there will be a new generation of fans who would normally be Rangers fans but will walk away from the dross being served up at The Rangers/Sevco. The club is not even a year old and is already a complete shambles, with possibly the least knowledgeable manager in the whole of Scottish football. CFC fans should forget them, they are an irrelevance and will continue to be for years to come.}

imo the HOLY GRAIL for our club should be continiued progress in the champions league ie regulars in the group stages, last 16 and beyond not trying to win 10 in a row to outdo a rival who no longer exists, we as a support should be way bigger than that. our old rivals are gone. forget them. let the dead bury the dead BG

RE 'I'm not sure if I would want our 10 in a row tarnished with claims from Rangers that we only got it because of their demise'

Yeah, let's throw it away and wait until the Club that play at Ibrox make their way to the SPL. Infact I think Celtic should not only wait for them but also until they have a decent squad and Manager too ppppffft!

You could argue then that RFC only got their 9-in-a-row as Celtic were busy paying off their debts and rebuliding but we don't. Its already recognised that RFC's 9-in-a-row is not a patch on Celtic's at the time. As Bertie Auld said:-

When asked by a reporter in the late 1990s what he thought the outcome would be if Celtic’s Nine-in-a-row side took on the Rangers equivalent Bertie Auld, Hoops legend and a regular in the early years of Celtic’s 9-in-a-row run, replied: 'It would be close, I think it would probably be a draw. But then most of us are in our late 50s now. '

Here we go 10 in a row :-)

Sometimes I despair when I read through some of the comments on here. Ten in a row will only happen if rangers never reach the top league, without rangers there we should never lose the league. As for Neil Lennon, if he can't get his players to turn up on the domestic big occasions then something is far wrong. Is the problem the players or his inability to motivate them. I believe if he were to move on it would be business as usual, I could win the league as manager of celtic.

Agree0 Disagree1

Hate to be an auld fart, but let's just do one at a time and see what happens.
We will go through over 100 player changes and maybe a manager or two and knowing the incompetent tadgers at SPL/SFA we will probably have another 2/3 re-organisations!
As we go for 2 in a row it has not all been plain sailing and I fear an undercurrent of uneasiness at Celtic Park with moral and team spirit well short of a team that is going for a double and the flag bearers in Europe for the foreseeable future?
Mulgrew foolishly mentioned how mundane the SPL is without Rangers and how complacency sets in automatically.
For one that is totally unacceptable for a professional highly paid footballer; never mind an employee of Celtic answerable to a magnificent support expecting so much.
The scenes at Juventus and the 125th birthday game against Barcelona, the fans at every away game singing non-stop are fine examples of why the players need to give 100% EVERY game.
The next ten years in the life of Celtic may bring un-matched success, but you can be sure there will be more extreme highs and sickening lows along the way.

Anybody read THE GLORY AND THE DREAM?The finest book about the HOOPS EVER!theres a bit about an article by a legendary fitba pundit, believe it was THE VOICE OF FOOTBALL, John McKenzie. In 1965 he said THE AULD CO, WERE SO FAR AHEAD OF CELTIC IT WAS NO LONGER A CONTEST. ABOUT 20 months later celtic were champions of europe. Please don't under estimate, NEWCO, and don't forget all the dodgy decisions auld co got. I would almost bet MY HOOSE ON THEM WINNING THE TOP LEAGUE WITHIN 6 OR 7 YEARS. or the 1st year they are back in the top flight!. jimthetim.

First bit of info i've got for you about the new away kit. It will be the Nike colour of Varsity Maize which if you you don't know is the colour of Brazil's. Let's hope they start to play like them!

Hi Ed, last night flicking through the Sports Channels, I came across on Sky 425 Channel. From 7till 8pm it showed Celtics Youth team coaches Chris McCart, John Kennedy and others in Ireland arranging trial games for aspiring young footballers . , What came across really well was the dedication shown by the Celtic scouts and the professional way they set things up, and I hope you print this because under these guys I can assure Celtic fans the future is looking good,. Listened to mulgrew on tv tonight when asked if rangers should be fast tracked to spl, the hesitancy in his answer would to me suggest he dosen, t want them, so rather than face the wrath of the press for saying no he will get a headline tomorrow which will annoy the celtic faithful. I personally hope he gets it big time on saturday for his comments. jimbhoy.

Champions league brought a lot of experience but I hope to god it made us wiser, lennon should look at the way juventus play and copy it, the counter attacks are great to watch x

Believable9 Unbelievable5

Gonna have to disagree to a point here. There is plenty of merit playing this way especially when you are as effective as the Italians at it.

More should be done in terms of our inability to break down walled defences like which we encounter more and more often and struggle to break down. We need to help instill a better onfield intelligence in our players ( yes it can't always be learned but to a degree it can).

We are expected domestically to have the lions share of posession and recent results like Juve and like Barca prove possesion is not always the key, its what you do with it.

We need to learn to tease teams out who are sitting back like this waiting to pounce. Yes a will drilled team will maintain a deep line and not break ranks but more thought needs put into it in general.

There is no real 1 style of play a team should adopt. It should be a mixture. Whether that's tika taka mixed with counter attack, long ball, constantly pump it wide. We see the best struggle at times ( barca perfect example of this) so yes this approach is sometimes merited. However we do not have the concentration or intelligence in our players to play such a one dimentional game as purely wait for the counter, its been the scorn of scottish clubs in Europe the hole keep it tight and nick something on the break ( yes the Italian method is a bit more complex than this)

So to cut a long story short, yes we should adopt some of this style of play more especially in games where we are struggling to break down teams but to play week in week out doesn't suit what I consider to be The Celtic Way.

Also can someone please teach our defence how to make a clearing header! how many times this season are we going to be caught out by our defence just trying to head it back down the middle of the park and usually straight to an opposing player?

Agree0 Disagree0

Dude we played counter attck football the whole champo league except the juve games

Agree2 Disagree0

Did you watch the group stage at all? Have you not listen to the other clubs and what they said about us? Cause all they talked about was our set plays and counter attacks, Lennon even in the spl has and had us scoring for fun on counter attacks. Maybe it hasn't been as of late but counter attacks is one of our most dangerous plays, really do people pay attention or think of past games or is it just the latest ones.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you guys are in response to me yes you are right in terms of europe, I presumed the OP was talking about playing this way in general like Juve do. Which I do not want to be the case.

Yes we have been dangerous on the counter in domestic games for most of the season, but this is not an adopted style for these games we have played to, this was taking an oppertunity at the time it arose.

Yes in Europe we were very defensive and relying on counter attack. And yes we had very good success at this. But in order for our team to progress we cannot rely on this sole method of playing all the time. We need to have more than one way of playing as was found out when we came up against a team better at playing this way than ourselves, this said Its not always possible to play free flowing football with the talent at our disposal. However a more thought out game can be put into place to allow us to adapt to more situations rather than approaching a game with one style of play, that should help us overcome sticky situations domestically and allow us to have relative success in Europe on a more consistent basis. Without resorting to 1 style of play.

A good counter attacking side is more often than not built around a strong reliable defence, that is something we definitely don't have at the moment, we lack a creative enough midfield at moment to punish teams on counter, my biggest disappointment though is definitely the constant rotation or tinkering with team selection, when joe ledley started game as captain a few weeks ago he scored 2 goals yet was benched the nxt game, to many big names not performing at all yet keep there place, how tony watt is overlooked ahead of miku and lassad is testament to lennys poor team selection and tatics, I know he's still young but just doesn't seem to be learning from same basic mistakes. hail hail, GOD BLESS THE CELTIC+

Agree0 Disagree0

To be a successful counter attacking team you have to first and foremost be able to defend. W

Another excuse for a journalist trying to create a sensational headline out of a nothing story. 'I don't want to quit Celtic but I fear I have no long term future'. This disingenuous mince was taken from Lenny saying managers have a shelf life. He did go on to mention how Fergie has been at old trafford for so long. So could the story headline not just as well have been: 'I'd love to be Celtic manager for decades like Fergie at man u'. Maybe an ibrox keyboard awaits this fantasist just like his former colleague, jabba?

Believable11 Unbelievable3

I also was unfortunate enough to be snared with this disingenuous headline. Its like Ted Rogers and 3-2-1. No matter what the situation or what has been said or what the clues are the answer is always the same; no prizes! This clueless up his own **** scribbler will do or say anything to get a reader. In his case no prizes for objective reporting but plenty points for being objectional! Again we have another a self styled voice of the working man. More than likely privately educated and amongst his peers considered an abject failure, but to his adoring public (Murray Rangers Green et-al) the down to earth no nonsense talented journo who "tells it like ow eet es" Another disgrace of a man and disgrace to the profession of which he claims to be a member. It's for things like this I stopped buying newspapers 6 months ago. No need to buy them anyway, all the news is on line for free (the night before the paper comes out anyway ). There is no bad news at Celtic so they will be clutching at straws to get a bad news story, just laugh at it and don't buy the paper and enjoy winning the league :)
