Hearing Celtic have sent a scout to watch Rickie Lambert of Southampton in tonights match with villa. If this is true there's got to be a chance hooper leaving this window, as they're quite similar.

Believable6 Unbelievable25

Don't believe this for a second and they're not similar at all, dd

Agree1 Disagree0

They're not really similar are they?! One iover 6 foot and the other is not quite 6 foot. One is renowned for using his head to score and the other is't. In fact they are very differnt players. Hooper will not leave until the summer. Lambert on the other side of the coin no longer fits Celtic's signing policy due to his age and of course his price tag. Sorry lad

Agree4 Disagree0

Certainly not similar...lambert way off hoopers standard and ability...he's a lump of a boy that doesn't even look that good, average at best...hooper is class at worst! Wouldn't want lambert in even if hooper went he's not the forward we would need if hooper went...we would need a 20+ goals a season striker, lambert is certainly not that! I think russell of dundee utd has the ability to fill hoopers boots when he eventually goes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would we send a scout to watch a player that can be seen on tv every week...utter tripe mate

Celticthomas

Agree0 Disagree0

Lambert would score more goals than Russell

Think we are over rating hooper, old tim, here are strikers i have seen that are better. In no order, WISPY, KING KENNY, JACKIE, PIERRE, CADETTE, CHAMPAGNE CHARLIE, CHOCCY, VIDUKA, HARTSON, AND THE SWEDE!HE is on a par with mcavennie, mcgarvey, mccluskey, etc please don't argue, its a given. As for Russell, FFS, stop lucking at the scottish crap better players in every league than him! what do you think ed? jimthetim ......cfc since 1960.....ps i like Hooper... {Ed007's Note - I actually think Hooper is the best English out and out striker about just now. As a goal poacher there isn't anyone close to him, Welbeck? Carroll? In saying that there are better out there, I'm just not sure we could sign any of them for whatever reason.
Our scouts will need to be on their toes to find someone to replace Hooper, his age, price, ability and personality factor in it, and that is before trying to bring them to the SPL.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Jimthetim everyone is allowed their own opinion, but your the first tim ive heard calling king henrik "the swede" and although i was a big dziekanowski fan myself i don't agree he was better than mccavennie, ., .kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

Rickie Lambert is a Saints legend, there's no way they would let him leave anyway, also he isnt in the same league as Hooper

Agree0 Disagree0

Think the scouts wife should get pretty suspicious! Saints play Villa tomorrow, KO 3pm. Also, half the EPL have already been told in January Lambert is not for sale.

Sounds like someone is "playing away" to me, and I don't mean Lambert.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jim the tim - Gary Hooper is not overrated, he is a fantastic striker, has probably outgrown the SPL, he's a young guy with alot of ambition, his goal scoring record for us is excellent. He will probably leave us in the summer for 7m+ it's inevitable he will get a cap for England this year as he's that good. I will be gutted to see him go I'm also gutted we are not offering him the going rate give him 25-30k. Probably manage to keep him for 1 more year as the Epl is calling. Ian L

Agree1 Disagree0

Come in scout number 14357, we havr an important assignment for u. We are about to sell our top striker and we need you to find a replacement. The other 14356 are busy on other assignments........honestly can't stand the poor posts that some people see fit to bore us all with. Get it in your head, buy young, buy unknown, convert, educate, sell on for higher than paid for............its not really that difficult to grasp!! HH

Agree0 Disagree0

Defoe is a better goal scorer than Hooper imo. Not by much though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hh if this is our policy why arent we doing it, and if we did nl would leave as we would never be able to build and field a settled team, we are not a selling club and don't need to be a selling club the only player we have sold for decent money is ki who wanted away cos he couldnt get a game other than that we are trying to keep all our top players this might not happen due to outside influences, yes i believe if an offer the club deemed they couldnt turn down arose they will probably sell but they won't sell anyone just for the sake of a profit and i hope that that continues,,,, deep river bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

The reality is we are becoming a selling club because we can't compete with the preimership. Hooper will go, Lambert is too old for us and we will continue to buy young in an attempt to sell big. If some do not move on, and are good enough, that will be a bonus to us. I am resigned to losing Wanyama in the summer and probably Hooper unless he signs a new deal. Lambert is a route one footballer! Not us!

Taken from tv Transfer Centre:

Celtic are closing in on the signing of United States international Juan Agudelo.

The Chivas USA man linked up with Celtic for a training stint in November as he tried to secure a move to a European club during the Major League Soccer close season.

The 20-year-old is regarded as one of the best young talents in America and has attracted the interest of a number of clubs across Europe.

Celtic are hoping to win the race for Agudelo after he impressed Neil Lennon and his coaching staff during his time on trial.

Lennon is keen to bolster his attacking options in this month's transfer window and they have now made an offer to Chivas as they look to bring the Colombian-born forward to Celtic Park.

*******

I remember Lennon & Co saying he liked the look of this boy when he was on trial. Could be something in it but it'll not be the first time Sly have put 2 + 2 together and come up with a load of pish.

Terrible Beauty

Brilliant mate, nicely written article finished with "a load of pish", ., .kbarry

West Ham are the most likey to sign this guy now. Our chance has passed

obviously celtic can still sign him but last week agundelo himself said on twitter he was off training with west ham. dunno if celtic have said they're not interested or the player himself is hedging his bets but just thought i'd say.

just seen that agudelo retweeted the story on twitter so maybe there is something to it

Agree1 Disagree0

Be nice if true? Lad is a very good player who could rip apart most defences in Scotland at will. Hope Rogic signs too, as seen him on utube and looks a great player.

Agree0 Disagree0

He also spent a week on trial at West Ham who were also impressed. His parent club Chivas said he was not for sale so why did they allow him to go on trial in the first place ?

Agree0 Disagree0

It wasn't trials he was on it was to get a bit of experience at different clubs but obviously if he impresses teams are going to be interested in him.

SOS-bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Same old, same old, every transfer window 5,000 signings, complete piss, 4, 998 of them.Keep the money give WATT, MCGEOUGH, FRAZER, A GO.......jimthetim

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope we get the lad, looks like West Ham are out of the picture, they just signed Paulista. Could be another jem, get Rogic in too.

I heard Barbosa is off to Galatasaray for 750k, Surely Celtic could have made it happen would have been great signing for that price (If it's true) You hear anything ed? DaleBhoy1888

Believable8 Unbelievable6

Shocking if true! Again another target will be missed due to celtics penny pinching, he's what we could be doing with for champs league...either that or lenny has someone else in mind that would have a better chance of making us money with a future transfer fee. you know what our new signing policy is like.

Agree0 Disagree0

The only comment about Barbosa and Galatasaray is found on this rumour page. Nothing found online at all. We need to trust NL and his staff. Good things will come through his decisions on who to bring in. Keep the faith bhoys.

I Lenny doesn't want him, he must not think he's good enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

Get a life, you can not sit and laugh at newco and then say, 'shocking if true, another signing lost to celtic's penny pinching'. Cake and eat it my friend, John Park, NL & PL, know wtf they're doing.

Agree1 Disagree0

How is it shocking, no one knows if the galatasaray story is true, know on knows if the boy would even consider us, no one knows if we have even targeted him other than nl saying he is a good player(he also plays in one of nl favorites samaras position), i have criticised the board regular and still say they let us and nl down in the summer but i nor you can't criticise on hearsay and rumours,,, deep river bhoy

Norwich fan here, Hughton has denied any such contacts or bids, this is being started by that clown on Talksh*te.

Believable14 Unbelievable1

But it doesn't mean he won't make a bid. Has he really got 6 months left on his contract ?

Agree0 Disagree0

18 months of his contract remaining. I think he'll stay til summer and have a crack at juve.

Lot of talk ed on that the hooper to Norwich will be done in a few days you hear anything to back these claims up ed the reporter seemed pretty sure
Dez {Ed007's Note - No Dez, as I have said all along, I don't see Norwich having the finances for any deal for Hooper.}

Believable3 Unbelievable9

I will eat my keyboard if this happens

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't think there was much in it surely hopper would want to leave for a better team than Norwich anyway if he's any ambition at all
Dez

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with ED...I said a week or so ago norwich couldn't afford hooper, and got laughed at...no way they could stump up the fee celtic would demand, for our top goalscorer! That's wot people forget, he's our main striker...what would celtic let him go halfway through a season and why would hooper go to norwich....total no-bodys fighting for survival AGAIN!

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think Gary will go anywhere at the moment. He will be fired up for the CL games to come this season. Julieghirl
