I grew up watching paddy McCourt every Friday night at the brandywell for Derry city and I was wandering why doesn't he get many starts for Celtic? He's great on the ball and can beat players with complete ease!

Caolán.

Believable14 Unbelievable10

You ain't watched many CELTIC game's when Paddy was playing then?
Tambhoy ( original )

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe he was better back then cause he only beats his man once in ever five tries. He is not good enough for Celtic and is not a complete player/lazy, I hope we get rid of him soon so we can use the money and spot on a better player or give it to a youth player cause thy would give a lot more effort. C-Bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

He looks like he smokes 40 a day.....

Agree0 Disagree0

Outgrown his time at celtic. Ska bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

When I first saw him, I hoped he would become a real star as he did beat men with ease and scored some great goals. He reminded me of Johnny Doyle, Joe Miller and even Charlie Nicholas at times; however he is lazy and loses possession too much and opponents can now read him too easily and sadly he has failed to improve and establish himself under 3 different managers.
It's a great pity as we all love to see Celtic supporters in the Hoops.

Jungle Jim

Agree0 Disagree0

I alright Paddy we know you posted that yourself lol

Agree0 Disagree0

As a fellow irishman caola'n i hoped for the best also but this was just a step up to far in my honest opinion, he did show the odd spark that prompted celtic to buy him in the first place but unfortunatly for the reasons mentioned above it wasn't to be
onwards and upwards ..HH Goreybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I am indeed live 25 mins from derry I think give paddy a proper chance he has been brilliant at times and no one can say he hasn't!

Caolán.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lazy, Not fit, plays 90 mins misses the next lot of games, not good enough for Celtic should have been shipped out last season.

Ed just like to wish Andreas Hinkel all the best after he announced his retirement aged 30. I was always a fan of his in the hoops.

Hail hail

CeltStu {Ed007's Note - I was shocked when I seen that earlier Stu. I thought he was a good player. It was only because of cost-cutting we let his contract run down, it wasn't a footballing decision. Best wishes to him.}

Believable10 Unbelievable3

I know for a fact that Lenny disliked him as a player. I usually ridicule these sort of posts but I sat next to him when he was talking to agents in the Marriott after the dinamo Moscow game and he said he was a bottler.

Junglebhoy33

Agree0 Disagree0

You sat next to who? Hinkel was a fantastic player and Lenny never said any such thing. I know Neil very well and he was sorry to see him go, both of them and Thommo came to the opening of my mates pub *********** in Bothwell just before Hinkel left. Its well known his wages were the problem and how do you know they were football agents? A manager isn't going to tell football agents anything like that.Total bulls***e.

Agree1 Disagree0

I'm not claiming to be some in the know guy, all I'm saying is I sat on the table next to Neil Lennon and he was criticising hinkel for being a bottler.

Was wondering if any1 can help me I've just moved to Dundee does any1 know any good supporters clubs so I can still go th games or pubs where I can watch Celtic games

Daveybhoy

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Contact Gerry Hanlon on fb or through hailhailmonthehoops. He is Celtic mad and lives in Dundee. Sass.

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I think a move to Dundee puts you beyond help but I do hope you get to see a few games
Nevis

Agree0 Disagree0

There is a supporters club called Club67 just off the Arbroath Road and also a club in Lochee somewhere but I am unsure of the name. The Lochee Sports Bar on Lochee high Street is also a very Celtic orientated pub owned by a Celtic family and the owner (Davie) is a friend of Lubo Moravciks! No, really!
Weetam1888

Agree0 Disagree1

There are many buses from Dundee

Lochee No.1 CSC
Lee Walker CSC
West End CSC

to name a few.

If you buy the Evening Telegraph and look in the club notes section you will find contact details.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nevis - feck right off son! I live in Dundee, born n bred n my club is ours!
Daveybhoy, majority of comments are true. the main supporters buses head out of the lochee/west end of city. there's not too many boozers that you cld class as celtic orientated unless you're looking at scheme sort. those mentioned are fine and will let u make great contacts. I moved a few years back towards the broughty ferry area of the city n nowt here. If you fancy meeting up let Ed know and I can pass on email address. always welcome a fellow Bhoy in area. Stevo Dundee. ps what you doing coming here lol!!

Regarding Greens latest rant to keep the peepil onside,do you think the SFA/SPL are reaping what they sowed for allowing this history continues myth to perpetuate? On the other hand why is Green so dead set on confrontation at the drop of a hat? Im sure we all have our theories............. green jhedi

Believable10 Unbelievable1

Green has absolutely no interest in the outcome of this investigation.

He sees this as the ideal opportunity to gain more support from the loyal muppets prior to his share issue.

Suggesting some SPL board members have influenced the SPL's decision to carry out this investigation is pathetic. Bomber Brown has more dignity.

K-Dot.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ive never heard so much tosh as green spouted today, it was incoherent, rambling and contradictive. how can the newco take legal action in support of sanctions on the oldco ? that's tantamount to admitting the whole thing is a fraud designed to avoid debt, and nobody thinks that do they ? they seem afraid that unless they keep the rabble rousing going the fans might realise their paying for third rate crap. if he bought titles won by cheating, he has been done. like buying a ringer car.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would you care what they do? You're supposed to be Celtic fans. Should be concentrating on Celtic and their plights other than any other team. But then again, some fans will never change?! BB

Agree1 Disagree0

Firstly, Green is either pandering to the lowest commen denomenator or planning his exit, I cant decide. Secondly its a little ironic that a Rangers fan is on a Celtic site telling us to concentrate on our own team. Thirdly, I do care becuase if they cheated as a Scottish football supporter who pays to watch games then I am the victim of the cheating.

Pedro

Agree0 Disagree0

Because the team we support has been cheated for over a decade by pond life

Agree0 Disagree0

The reason we care about this subject is the nagging feeling that if we dont make a fuss and see this thing through to the end, it wont be dealt with properly. Charles Green in his statement today has as good as admitted there is a case to be answered, not that anyone doubted it to be honest. We want justice, incase you forgot we were the team finishing second while they were giving there players illegal side contracts. CHEATING! I want this finished with but not until the titles they won unfairly be made null and void.

You have your agenda and i have mine BB

Maybe you have a short memory and dont remember that pain of losing those titles mate. Dont knock us for it.

Agree0 Disagree0

I do not think its has been very responsible of Green/McCoist/Jardine to make the Newco out to be victims in this debacle considering the limited amount of brain cells some football fans have. Its about time they were hauled back in by the SFA and told to put a sock in it.

So Rogne has been offered a new contract but on reduced terms than his excisting contract? Did I not hear Lenny say we would reward players with new contracts with better wages? CL money in, ki money in, hardly anything spent during the window and a lot of dead wood off the wage bill and we're offering a great young international defender less money, really starting to wonder wtf is going on at Celtic park!

Green surfer

Believable7 Unbelievable9

I think you may have picked this up wrongly. I thing his offer was not as good as Gary or Victor's ne offers. It was not at reduced terms.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tbh mate,i dont think rognes anything special.artybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

PL and DD got a hell of a lot of questions to answer over this transfer window, again wondering who is buying the players, dont be blind or fooled as to what is going on Celtic Park!

Agree0 Disagree0

Rogne has been injured for most of his time at celtic, he is good but I think because of all the injuries nl/pl or whoever has not seen all he has to offer. Come on ppl, he has been injured and you guys think he deserves a pay hike? Don't know how much he makes but it's just business, you get paid for what you have done and how you help the club. I do like him and hope we keep him.
Yes the transfer window was not what we would have likes but I think the board is holding out the money in order to spend next year as it will be harder to get into cl. Let's give them a break this year for it is a new situation in spl and see what they do this year and if they don't spend next year then I think we could let them have it.

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as i rate Rogne he is always injured. So to be honest we have to be safe when giving him a new contract.
Paderbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes played 38 league games in two and a half seasons and I would think never started more that 5 in a row.
15 or so games a season means he has a lot to prove in fitness and consistency before he should be even thinking about pay rise.

Agree1 Disagree0

He hasnt been offered reduced terms he has been offered a rise but the rise is less than the wages the likes of kelvin wilson are on that is his moan

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't give him better terms, yeah he is decent but no where near the player he should be, too injury and accident prone. If he wants to stay at Celtic he needs to knuckle down and prove he is worth a pay rise.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's not shown to be worth a pay rise in my eyes. An extended contract, yes. But a pay rise, no. It's up to him to show he's worth a pay rise now, and to do that he has to fill one of two or three cb positions, continually, and a good job of it too.

no a rumour just a wee point av seen ther on bbc sport website that roy hodgson has called up yng sterling from liverpool and adam lallana from southampton. My point bein yng sterling is 17 only played 3/4 1st team games for liverpool and lallana came through league 1 and championship and they hav been called up yet fraser forster has played top flight spl for the 3rd season in a row has played europa football and now champions league football has been outstanding from last season played basically every game and imo apart from mibi joe hart has been the most consistent keeper in britain yet again an english player playin for celtic has been overlooked personally a think its a disgrace espec wen u look at jack butland has only now started playin 1st team football in the championship with birmingham and by all accounts has already made a few howlers and john ruddy a 1 season wonder wae norwich just my oppinion anyway

gunniebhoy

Believable11 Unbelievable2

I got lost when you mentioned top flight and SPL in the same post!
FF has only played a handful of truly competitive games for us and had a fair few blunders in them, both against the defunct team from glasgow and in europe.
bigjimd

Agree1 Disagree1

Don't think Forster would do a job in midfield though. Horses for courses.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who mentioned aboot him playin midfield ? a used sterling and lallana as examples as how we git shat on by england considerin liverpool 3 games 1 point southampton 3 games 0 points yet ther players get picked forster plays every game we r champions wil be playin in the champions league and for the 1st poster is the spl no the top flight of the scottish leagues naw ? aye hes made a few blunders but so has joe hart and hes 1 ae the best keepers in the world helsingborg away should hav been enough alone for forster 2 get a call up its the same old story same wae alan thompson years ago england wer cryin out for a natural left sided left footed midfielder yet he got 1 cap away n get yer england top on for the ukraine game typical reply but never leave names

gunniebhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I was the first poster, Forster has done nothing exceptional to be considered for england call up.
Facts, he was available for (by epl standards) peanuts and no one interested, newcastle let him go out on loan for years to stockport, bristol, norwich and then us for two seasons,
all other english keepers he is competing against are doing it at a far higher level, spl is mickey mouse where he will only play a handful of difficult games a season,
we even offered a contract to Gordon before signing Forster.
Decent keeper but thats all, I agree he is a great shot stopper but a bomb scare at crosses and corners.
BIGJIMD

Agree0 Disagree0

There was a reason why Thomo never got asked again. Did you see his cap, he was shocking.

Who cares if he makes it or not, lets just be thankful we have a great keeper on our books. I would rather have him training in the east end than traveling around with Terry and co and perhaps picking up an injury.

Ed, got any ideas when single champions league tickets will go on general sale if at all?

Nothing posted about it on celtic website

Any ideas how much they will cost aswell?

Cheers bhoys {Ed007's Note - It looks like there won't be a sale of single tickets and if there is it will be a minimal amount.}

It was 27 years ago today that Celtic’s greatest ever Manager and first Manager of a British team to win the European Cup passed away in Cardiff.

He also guided Celtic to 9 successive Scottish League Championships between 1966 and 1974

5 October 1922 – 10 September 1985

Rest In Peace Jock Stein

Mrs E

Believable21 Unbelievable7

Who the **** is hitting unbelievable? **** off back to D3 you scum.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jambo in peace, the premature demise of Big Jock was a very sad day for the whole of Scottish football. It was not only the success of his teams but also the style of football that they played which impressed all. I'm sure that Big Jock would have gone on to repeat the European Cup success if Celtic had been able to keep a hold of the Quality Street Kids for a wee bit longer at that time

Well said jambo.

just been clearing out my vbox recordings i had nothing left of my 80 hours, and came across the greatest ever scotland team. some of it i agreed with but there was one stand out that should never ever have been there. this was definitely the heart ruling the head. i dont' say this to in anyway denigrate or sully his memory, i honestly don't. but davie cooper as a predominately left side midfield/ winger would not have gotten into the best ever rangers team. i am old enough to remember davie wilson and willie johnston, and both were better. .. celtic have had more than their fair share of trgically young deaths, just like davie.. john thomson,, phil odonnell,, johnny doyle,, charlie gallacher ,,and yes tommy burns,, would i let any of the into the greatest ever celtic team , no. that would be to let a heavy heart rule an empty head. davie cooper was a very good player, yes a brilliant piece of skill to score against us in that cup final and big and brave enough to step up for a penalty against wales, . truely brave under the circumstances.. what else??? davie himself was a quiet shy guy and would have been embarrassed to have been put before the likes of bobby lennox.. he scorede about 6/7 goals a season and for the last five years of his time at rangers he warmed the bench because kevin ted mcminn or mark walters were the preferred choice . greatest ever scotland winger , sorry but no, god bless and r.i.p. davie.. shamrock

Believable6 Unbelievable2

I would throw into the mix eddie gray{leeds} and john robertson{ notts for}. shamrock

Agree0 Disagree0

Can I throw in Tommy Hutchison,Gordon Smith(before my time) and I think Willie Morgan could play left or right. Wingers by nature are a bit inconsistant so have their good and bad days.

Agree0 Disagree0

Was that programme not about scotlands greatest team though? If so, u should be comparing cooper to players in his position who played great for scotland, not their club side. Like you said, cooper had the bottle against wales and from what i have seen of him in a scotland top it wasnt a one off good performance, he did it a few times on our way to world cups/euros. Did any of the rest mentioned perform well at that level?

Maybe people don't come here to read whinging rubbish like you post and if you only want to read 'like minded Celtic fans' why are you not girning about The Rangers fans that post?
