Neil Lennon enjoys peace of history after outwitting Barcelona

Celtic's victory over Champions League holders is just reward for a club that backed their young manager during dark times

A good honest piece of journalism. Refreshing to say the least. Well spotted Mrs E. Andymac.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fantastic article, a journalist who actually has done his research and written a factual article, something journalists here could learn from. johnbhoy79

Agree1 Disagree0

True Journalism. Never go with the Guardian normally but thanks for sharing that gem. Hats off to Mrs. E.

Agree0 Disagree0

What a well thought, well written and TRUTHFUL article.
It makes the usual Scottish Sunday Rags (S.M in particular) look absolutely amateurish and one-dimensional in their 'efforts' at reporting.
WE all KNOW why Neil Lennon has been singled out since day one at Celtic.
The begrudging new-found 'respect' he receives from the press and radio 'personalities' since he apparently 'calmed-down' is laughable...........kbt1978

Agree0 Disagree0

Cracking piece,
something magical could happen in the next few years.

Agree0 Disagree0

What a read in Lennon we trust x

Agree0 Disagree0

Neil lennon can only get better as a manager feet on the ground time

Agree0 Disagree0

We should enjoy the time we have with Lenny as manager. It won't be long until he goes down to the premier league the way things are going.

If we get through to the last 16, i would expect all our players to stay until the summer.
If Wanyama does go to Man Utd, i hope we don't get robbed like the
Brian McClair transfer. He was the Scottish League top scorer then became
the English top scorer the following season, after transferring for a £1m under his value. This is at least £5 - 8m difference in today's market.

Believable6 Unbelievable4

Mcclair was before bosman when out of contract players could still be sold for a fee and was decided by a tribunal wanyama is under contract and cannot leave without celtic deciding a fee on the flip side today mcclair would have left for free

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanyama has 2 and a half years left and he said he's happy here. He will be sold on our terms.

Agree1 Disagree0

I hope the board take Neils valuation of
Victor seriously. Sick of EPL teams robbing Scottish teams. If Victor played in the lower leagues in Engerland the big teams would soon pay up. Julieghirl

Agree1 Disagree0

If celtic ever want to win the cl which is very hard for a scottish club they need to keep their best players you dont see man utd chelsea or barca or real madrid getting rid of their best players

Agree0 Disagree0

Man utd payed us 750,000 or 850,000 i remember i was gutted, murdo, johnston and rambo all went round about the same time quite a loss,.,.kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

Correct these celtic players went for peanuts remember this is why its important to keep the best players at the club ie if the team is successfull in the champions league ie latter stages you will only get better players wanting to come to the club ie more good players would maybe come to scotland

Agree0 Disagree0

Its all gona come down 2 the summer i think coz he might turn round n wana leave then and would we really wana keep a player who wanted away no matter how much ther abilty ? hopefully after bein part of that on wed night he might have a change of heart but i seriously doubt it if the so called big teams show theyr interest in him and he starts gettin liam miller syndrome hes a yng guy tho so hope he can see that for the benefit of his progress hes best stickin with celtic for at least another 2 years til hes 23 then see what he wants just ma oppinion

gunniebhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Just remember though, all players who have been sold in the past for fees a few million under value, was to find the debt. In a way our hands were tied by the business side of things. Now, taking into account the Ki money & CL money, we are in the black. Players should now be sold for footballing reasons & on our terms, hence the 25m tag on Vic - pay it or shut up!

Agree0 Disagree0

Remember how many people didnt wana offload kaya because he was class. Now hea an overpaid sub who doesnt even make an impact as a sub. We should be taking a reasonable offer for players before they go cold.

Agree0 Disagree0

You only get what clubs are willing to pay personally i would stick mcourt on ebay and stick his wages on wanyamas

Still can't get over the big win and watched the game 3 times in 24hrs lol. But with that display I hope most of the fans now will see just what miku can bring to the club, as his touch and ball control was tops. Yes watt is in line and will lead the line for many years I'm sure but hooper is most likely off and miku and watt would be great together. If the price is right Celtic will bring him in because I can't see them giving the #7 to someone if they were not thinking about keeping him. But time will tell and I'm sure after that game miku might want to stay now as long as he dosent act like a baby and complain about the time he gets.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Robbie keane had the No7 shirt and there was no chance of us keeping him.

Hail hail

Marco1888

Agree0 Disagree0

Money is an issue yes, but even just the timing of Miku's arrival would suggest he's not at Celtic to stay. In more of a football sense though i suggested he started the game at the Nou Camp. Celtic have unearthed some great young talents from so called 'lower leagues', but just by adding one or two players who have played in the top leagues, it makes you more capable of competing sides from top leagues. I'm all in favour of bosmans and loan deals for these one or two players.

Wallace Mercer was way ahead of his time when he suggested amalgamating Hearts and Hibs. He was consequently driven out of town and carted himself off to France.

There are far too many clubs in Scotland, far too many non entities like Brechin, for example! What the feck do they bring to the game?

Ideally, we should go down to 30 teams, with 2 professional leagues - let's get amalgamating!

1. Motherwell, Accies and Airdrie.

2. Ross County, ICT and Aberdeen

3. Sevco, Thistle and Clyde.

4. St Mirren and Morton.

.....and so on!

Can this happen? God only knows, however something has to be done with these non-entities!

Miko x {Ed007's Note - I'm not having that with Accies Miko!!!}

Believable4 Unbelievable21

Why the feck would a team like Thistle flying high in the 1st want to amalgamate with Clyde and a new 3rd div side? get a feken grip Miko.....Stevie

Agree1 Disagree0

They bring in new talent at a lower level of football i admire all these smaller teams good on em

what about falkirk, the shire, stenhousemuir all within 5 miles of each other and shi* into the bargain.
davy in sunny tobago
ps ed watched game here with couple of real madrid fans my god they hate barca about as much as we despise the mob that used to be called rankers now fc sevco or some other alias they use, got so pissed swapped my hoops top for a Real top only too find out on thursday morning it had 7 ronaldo on the back what a pisser

Agree0 Disagree1

Ef royal madrid iam a barca man myself
After us that is ,.,.kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

So should celtic by joining group 3 by your logic?

Agree0 Disagree0

St Mirren and Morton?!?!
FFS mate, you really have no idea of the strength of the rivalries between some of these 'wee' teams.
Paisley and Greenock have a feeling, and rivalry between the 2 towns, bordering on hatred at times.
You don't know what your talking about..............kbt1978

Agree0 Disagree0

How dare you call Brechin and the likes non entities. They will be just as important to their fans and COMMUNITIES than Celtic or rangers are. In some way small clubs are more important as they are the hubs of the community. Not every team want to chase fame and win the European cups at all costs - theirs more to football than money and fame. I think you will find these wee 'bring nothing to the game' clubs are the game , and most run on a shoestring for free! by people who love the game. No blazers. Football is a sport for all. What would brother walfrid say to your masterplan ?HH joe

Agree0 Disagree0

Worst idea i have ever heard. would you wanna merge with sevco?......exactly

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair to say miko you have been shot down in flames, don't give up tho lol

Agree0 Disagree0

If you could rest Scottish football then it would be ideal to have Celtic, The Rangers, Aberedeen, Highlands, Perthshire, Lanarkshire, Hearts, Hibs, Ayrshire, Stirlingshire, Borders and a Glasgow team, and have a team in more isolated areas and amalgimate Junior teams to provide a 3rd tier, giving a maximum of 30 or so teams, despite being so small, the likes of Montorose and Arbroath would point blank refuse to join together.

G93

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know if the OP was on the wind up with this but complete waste of time idea - amalgamating ICT, Aberdeen and Ross County - get a grip (on life I suspect!) Steveomac

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldntvsay that was the answer but maybe to help clubs finances some grounds could sell stadiums and ground share in new purpose built grounds
it works in other countries so why not here

ED007, Miko how about Hearts and Sevco amalgate they could be called......
HEARTS OF SEVCONIAN lol Timalloy

Agree0 Disagree0

Im disapointed a celtic fan has posted this all these teams are important to scottish football long may they continue remember we got some players from these teams in the past

Agree0 Disagree0

A wee footnote the heart of sevconia is situated at that big roundabout off edmundson drive lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Miko, you are wired to the moon. Not everyone wants to watch big teams. They enjoy the wee crowds and watching 22 men not prima donnas that go down ay the slightest touch getting stuck into each other. As for picking brechin as an example not happy. That will be the same brechin that played sevco in their 1st game and took them to extra time, a game they deserved to win. The same Brechin that gave us David Will, RIP, chairman of Brechin City, past president of the SFA and past vice president of FIFA. Brechin live within there means and have next to no debt, something senior teams could learn from.

Agree0 Disagree0

I take it the original poster has never looked at a map, Have you any idea how far away Inverness is to Aberdeen, try about a 2hr drive.
Heres an idea as stupid as yours lets all amalgimate all the teams in scotland and call it the scotland national team and play international matches against other countries, oh wait someone else already thought of that oops!

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't Hearts and Rangers be called HMRC? :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, I used to go watch the accies at old douglas park, the days when auld fergie was kickin about in the stands.

You're a hamilton lad and I also think you're ages with me, so I'm willing to bet that we went to the same secondary school, perhaps even the same class. HCHS?? Am I right?

Miko {Ed007's Note - Yes Miko I did go to that school, and I can remember Fergie well. I think I learnt to swear listening to him!}

Agree0 Disagree0

Good lad!
