Evening bhoys/ghirls, I've not posted for a while just reading up on everyone else's thoughts, some agree some not so much! Not a rumour, more of anybody thoughts (all Eds welcome) Celtic could make an absolute mint by selling any of the current 1st team given that some of them were free- £2mill. We've got the best midfield that I can remember.... So to my point, the guys a BLOODY star ( sorry for the swear word) Wanyama vs Cheke Tiote (Newcastle) or any other for that matter.? Do you think prem teams will spend double on Tiote for experience of the prem or take a punt on Big Vig? Similar but also different in a few ways but same position, ok if Tiote goes Man Utd Wanyama could go elsewhere! Sorry for the long winded question but there is other players out there that in return could keep Vic at Celtic for a wee bit longer (hopefully) great site Ed, your thought also!

Bigbadjohn {Ed007's Note - Thanks, John. I would love to see Wanyama staying here for a few years yet, he has plenty of time to move and not necessarily to the EPL. I still expect some serious bids if not in January then definitely in the summer and as it stands Arsenal are still at the front of the queue. Hopefully he signs a new contract as that could help push the price up.}

Believable10 Unbelievable2

Wanyama is awesome. Best central midfielder we've had since stan Petrov. If you score the opening goal against Barcelona and then go on to win the game people remember your name. You just need to listen to what the likes of Jamie redknspp & ray Wilkins say about big Vic when we've been on the tv. But we already know that as we see him week in week out. I'm all for breaking the bank for him & Hooper. Spend some of our 25m. Ed any idea how much a week if would take for Hooper & Wanyama to sign on for another few years? Ian L {Ed007's Note - I don't think money will make Hooper stay, he wants to move back south and break into the England set up. I expect him to get a call up sooner rather than later, he has been watched in the CL games and a few league games by various members of the England back room set-up but the way things have went up till now I personally think his mind is made up. The contract talks have been going on for over a year now and seem to be going nowhere.
I think Wanyama could stay if his pay was more in line with the other top players (earners) like Brown and Ledley, I would say there is more a chance of Wanyama staying than Hooper as things stand. (Watch this coming back to bite me :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

I didn't mention any other leagues as its usually the EPL that gets linked with him ie. arsenal.. He seems like a Wenger type of player and they've still not replaced Song if they want to go down that road? Would love him to stay, not saying he's goin to go to a top four team but he's good enough but he could also get drawn into the whole "Best league in the world" thing and possibly go to mid table team which would be a waste! The guys going to be immense wether he stays for a bit or goes.?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed I so hope you are wrong about Hooper as you know I rate him highly as you probably do yourself, however I know u are a man in the know and are very rarely wrong. His advisors were apparently in Glasgow at the weekend obviously nothing agreed (as yet) Ian L {Ed007's Note - {Ed007's note - People think i have it in for Hooper but i honestly don't, I think he is by far the best out and out goal scorer/poacher that England have available just now, if the ball falls to him in the area chances are he will get a shot away and score more than he will miss. Even if we could get another season from him (and others) to see how far this team can actually go.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we had a good few 'stand-outs' in most of our CL games and although proud of how we stood up to the challenge, I worry that EPL and top European sides may also be interested in tempting our star men away;
Not just only in Wanyama and Hooper.
NL's biggest challenge could possibly be persuading this team to stick around?
Unfortunately the SPL is not attractive, however we have a bright, enthusiastic manager and Champions League at Celtic Park is both inspiring and unforgettable and hopefully both will have an influence.

Its well known we lack a creative midfielder I think Joe Cole could do a job for us

Welshbhoy {Ed007's Note - His wages are £90k a week though.}

Believable8 Unbelievable22

Unless LFC were to fund about 2/3rds of his wages this won't happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope John Park finds another diamond for lenny in this department

Raff

Wow ed wondered why he was still there.

Sevco just got a creative writer and now looking for a creative accountant.

Good wee player, but wages will be a big barrier unless Liverpool pay the majority?! I still think there is someone out there for that type of role, a roughly cut diamond that we don't need to pay mega for (wishfull thinking)? Naka, not really heard of but lots of experience! Lubo not really heard of but lots of experience! Don't like comparing and that's what I've done but that's what we're looking for as a supporter but is Lennon??

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

Apart from his goal yesterday, I've not heard of Joe Cole for a long time. I think his best years are probably behind him. Loved watching him when he was at west 'am & Chelsea, phenomenal skill. Ian L {Ed007's Note - Cole was over in France last season playing for Lille on a season long loan, they wanted to keep him but Brendan Rodgers said he wanted him to return to LFC.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't actually think he had a future at Liverpool, but could be what they need given how poor they are, not sure how old he is now but he's a good wee player!

Bigbadjohn {Ed007's Note - He turned 31 last month.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Strange one Ed don't you think? he's not been involved much this season unless he's been injured? I thought he may have been a Brendan rogers type of player? Ian L {Ed007's Note - I think he is just coming back from a hamstring injury Ian.}

I met Cole when he was at Chelsea and asked him tongue in cheek, 'When are you going to play for a big club like Celtic Joe?' and he didn't seem too enamoured. Hope he would consider it now.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we have a better chance in signing Cheryl Cole! {Ed007's Note - I wouldn't take that munter on a Bosman! Is it just a coincidence that you have never seen her and Gazza in the same place.....

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic will want to sign some unknown players they can sell on for profit in a few years time. Unless we get into EPL or European league then thats the way we will be for a long time

Agree0 Disagree0

There's as much chance of me getting my Natkingcole with Cheryl Cole as There is Joe Cole coming to the mighty Hoops. SopotCelt

Agree0 Disagree0

We have a player that could fill this role, Ibrahim but from what I seen of him in the Arborath game he needs to bulk up, a lot before he would be able to play SPL football cause he would take a beating every week!! Looked good on the ball, reminded me of Jayjay Okacha.

I think we just need a good left mid(natural winger) like maybe the young polish guy Paweł Wszołek, who is highly rated or gary-mackay-steven. no need to spend vast amounts as we have proved this season :) i think weve got enough ability in CM. its hard enough tryin to fit them all in even with ki gone.

see wee ryan fraser fae aberdeen wantin away n wont sign a new contract embdy else hink we should nip in with an offer in jan ? a hink he looks a crackin wee player n only 18 so wil just get even better even buy him then loan him straight out for 6 months. Defo hink he would be another great bit ae business sure aberdeen would rather sell cut price in jan than lose him for nuhin in the summer

Another one that would warm the bench. What we need is an experienced centre half!

Agree0 Disagree0

Is he good enough now because sevco are interested? Someone mentioned him a few weeks ago and was laughed at..funny how as soon as sevco mention him...BOOM we should sign him. No chance, defo bench warmer...why bring him in when everyone is wanting mcgeogh to get his chance, time to help our youth out first!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ano he would be a bench warmer hence why a said loan him out. Nuhin ae do wae coz they want him a would go for him coz hes yng scottish n looks a great prosprect

gunniebhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

According to the media he is in the sights of Fat Sally

I would also like to see Celtic make a move for Ryan Fraser,again nothing to do with sevco being interestested just a good young Scottish player.

What did everyone make of the new 3-2-3-2 formation we played on saturday?

Quack

Believable7 Unbelievable2

3-5-2! Matthhews and izzy played as wingbacks not wingers...and certainly didn't play DM roles. Broon ledley wanyama our 3 in the middle with matthews and izzy doing there thing with the know that there is 3 at back. If that was our formation explain where the players played...with the personel available and the formation u suggested none of the players would have fitted into that system.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was sure I was watching a 3-5-2. That must have been a new formation I've never seen................................kbt1978

Quack

3-2-3-2 is a varioation on how Football Manager define the tactic. In theory it can be one of 3 tactics:-

3-2-3-2. 3 centre halves. 2 wing backs. 3 midfielders. 2 strikers

OR 5-3-2

OR 3-5-2

Celtic played 3-5-2 on Sat.

Drew

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks guys! 3-2-3-2....like I said how could u put the players we had on the park into that kind of formation. So thanks for that my fellow bhoys, 3-5-2 was the formation on sat...tried, tested and successful under martin o'neil.

I've seen managers reference formations in this way in post match interviews. Izzy and Matthews were playing as wingbacks, rather than midfielders or defenders. Anyway...
