A week on Saturday we will be going for 23 consecutive domestic cup tie wins under Rodgers, all won in 90 mins. This must be getting near if it isn't already a European record. Anyone know the record for consecutive domestic trophies won?

I saw PSG were knocked out of the French Cup tonight Stevie and it was mentioned that was their first defeat in 50 domestic cup games.

I saw they were knocked out ice man, 50 domestic cup games! Jeezo so going by that they must of won some amount of consecutive domestic trophies because I'm sure they've won at least the last 5 titles maybe more.

What are thoughts Ed of Bain in goals? Do you think someone else will come in once Gordon eventually retires or will Bain get his shot at being the number one?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I do think that Bain deserves to play more games as long as Gordon is at the Club, he's a far better all round 'keeper than Gordon who is the better shotstopper.
It's never going to happen but I'd give Bain the rest of this season to stake his claim for the No.1 spot next year then come summer let Gordon go and buy accordingly - either a young 'keeper (a Sondre Rossbach or Anton Mitryushkin) to compete with Bain over the next couple of seasons or go for a more established brand new No.1.}

09 Jan 2019 21:43:05
Rossbach could end up at Man Utd with ole now there?

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 16:38:47
Cheers Ed I like your thinking there. I agree I rate Bain very highly he does need more playing time though.

10 Jan 2019 19:50:01
Has any interest we had in Freddie Woodman cooled now?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'd hope we're still keeping an eye on him but he might be out of our price range.}

11 Jan 2019 13:11:07
Shame as he looks like he'll turn into a cracking keeper.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I agree with you there.}

It was long ago we faced Dafoe, Bayo's Brigade and Weah. ☘️.

Bhoys, anyone any idea when the public sale for tickets for the Valencia game will be? I know you need to be quick off the mark as they are usually snapped up pretty quickly. Cheers in advance 🍀.

The deadline for STH to secure is next Tuesday. There will be news on public sale on the Celtic website next Wed I would imagine.

Two things I don't understand about these winter breaks, one is, what is the point of taking your players to some hot climate, so that they need to reacclimatise to the Scottish weather when they get back, and the second thing is, why bother having them in the first place.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Jan 2019 17:24:41
The same reason people go on holidays in winter. To get away from the bad weather and recharge the batteries.

Agree4 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 18:14:12
Don't know about anyone else but it costs a fortune to follow Celtic. If anything it gives the fans wallets a breather.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 18:18:20
Players need a break after that December id say.
Getting out in the sun relaxing and de-stressing will do them good, which in turn will help us on the field.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 17:52:29
Sun is good for you. Simple as that.

Cunning plan spotted at Dubai camp . kt converted into goalie .

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 19:16:20
Couldn't have achieved that in Arbroath.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 19:40:46
Aindoh the two things you don't understand are actually just the one same thing, phrased differently. So that's half the problem solved if anything.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 19:59:44
Better smokies in Arbroath though Phil.

Team bonding.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 22:05:28
It’s warm climate training training in sunnier climate guarantees fitness levels through the roof to that’s why a lot of people training for long distance races train in Cyprus etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 23:00:03
See, I have been misunderstanding it all, I thought the winter break was brought in because the weather would be so bad at this time, the games would be postponed anyways, so the break could be used for training and team bonding, didn't allow for the holiday aspect, think they would have been better going to a less hot climate, sunshine is good for you, but the heat will make you feel the cold more when they get back here, think they might have been better to go playing in the snow in Finland, and taking on the winter sun up there.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 23:34:27
Aindoh training in warm climates are a lot better for you a lot of Olympians training go to sunnier climates u can breath better wanse u climates and when u come home there for are in better shape wonder if that’s why wee allways look out of sorts v teams from hot places lol.

Depends how good the all inclusive bar is Steph.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 08:57:11
Haha all inclusive is over rated welshy, done it in Barcelona before and drank in the pub across the road the whole time, spent a feckin fortune.

No mate I useto run at a high level wee got took to Cyprus to train before big races.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 14:59:40
If you’re going on an all day session, you wouldn’t stay up all night drinking the night before to get acostomed to it. You’d get a good nights sleep and a cooked breakfast in the morning.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 19:52:13
Not just the busy December the fact it's such a short break between seasons before CL qualifiers this is a much needed rest for the players.

Ciaran Clark has been a player I've been keen on for years, how much would it cost to bring him to paradise, good defender with plenty experience and he's not a first team player at Newcastle.

It just highlights how controversial this VAR is and how it all boils down to personal opinion and human error. If and when we get it - it will just delay the 'honest mistakes' by the establishment 'jury' by an extra five minutes or so - bah ha!

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 15:16:37
Would like to see how var couldn't have giving us the penalty against Inverness. Cheated out a treble.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Jan 2019 13:29:18
I know your tongue is firmly in cheek mate, but its an embarrassment that they do this aswell as the "most successful club in the world" nonsense.
They have nothing else to hold onto, its a small club mentality to convince the world they are something, they have embarrassed Scottish football over their signing policy for over 100 yrs, then liquidation and now try to convince the world they are same club.

If they were indeed the same club they wudnt need to say it, everyone would know.

The world will only recognise them as same club if they pay their debts, they cannot have it both ways.

Agree5 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 14:06:27
Not a chance. Stick to our one star that actually means something.

Agree3 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 14:36:30

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 16:46:36
You were spot on there Rayman, If they want to be called the same club then they should pay off all their debts.
They are a new club and Celtic should state so publicly that we don't want anything to do with this Old firm nonsense, they might need it, we don't.
This new club just like the old one only exists to hate us, they don't seem to have any other purpose in life. Celtic should keep as far away as they can from their bile and bigotry.

09 Jan 2019 11:57:26
It's went kind of quiet on here again ed?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - With 3 new signing over a couple of days there's less to moan about. The other day Lawwell was taking pelters over penny pinching on the Bayo deal and yet we got him for the price Lawwell wanted AND £600k less than his Club asked for. BOOOOOOO!!!!}

09 Jan 2019 12:20:30
There will be people genuinely annoyed we didn't just pay their asking price straight away. That £600k will cover a season's wages so it makes perfect sense. I still think we need a couple of experienced players to compliment our young squad, especially at CB.

Agree2 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 12:22:30
Can't remember who it was I was arguing with around the 3rd day of the window (maybe Davie or something)
He was going on about how lawwel was messing about again.
How lawwel always does this but couldn't name any players We had actually lost out on because lawwel tried to negotiate a good deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Give it a couple of days and the moaning will start again about the lack of any movement.}

09 Jan 2019 13:09:37
It’s. shame you don’t have a £10 donation to food bank for new members every time we lose as that’s when most new members join 👀😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You're awfy para in your old age, Welshy 😂😂

09 Jan 2019 13:28:36
Not like you to be arguing with a poster Kev83, think we all just need to see things through the same tinted green specs you wear and all will be rosy ;)

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Wouldn't everything be green?}

09 Jan 2019 14:10:34
I will criticise when it’s due and the ed and proper regulars on here will back me there.
What a won’t do is rip in to people that are actually doing there job well.

Agree2 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 15:45:14
All will be rosy when posters stop posting pish.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 16:43:45
There's 3 weeks left of the transfer window but the panty wetter's will moan no matter what. If we hadn't signed Bayo there would have been a tsunami of pish.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 17:46:58
We could sign 10 in the first week but ed will still be sifting through tons of moaning and greeting posts on the last day of the window if Celtic don't announce a player that day.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 10:16:50
Surely Mbemba is a player we should look at again, joined Porto in a 7 million move in summer but has struggled to back in the team returning from injury, the just signed pepe on a free so he's now even further down the pecking order and could get him for a reasonable price.

Chris

It is all a question of balance.

I personally think that now is the time to open the coffers and secure title number 8 as it is not a foregone conclusion after dropping 6 points on the 29th.

With our wage bill, I would not want to miss out on Champions League money.

Trouble is, we have journeymen on lucrative contracts and the board do not support Brendan's judgement on the transfer market.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Jan 2019 08:15:10
The board don't support his judgement.
It was Rogers that wanted compper, Hendry, Hayes, Musonda, gamboa but to name a few.
One of the biggest nonsense statements from celtic fans is that Rogers hasn't been backed.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 08:21:38
Dropped 6 points on the 29th?
And do you know someone personally on the board that told you they don't trust Brendan's judgement?
Maybe it's the same person that told that fat prick Boyd there is a split in the dressing room.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 11:41:54
Every manager makes a poor signings oneil signed Douglas Strahan signed Killen the list goes on Brendan has done well with the players that were here ie Forrest and brown and made them better.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 12:23:20
Mally Douglas wasn't as bad as made out to be.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 13:27:56
The point he made was we could (should) have been 6 points clear instead of level - not to mention the team selection and tactics were questionable to say the least once again away from home.
The manager has been backed since day-one going back to the initial signings of Dembele, Sinclair and Toure. However this was followed by De Vries, Gamboa and Eboue (in no particular order) and a good few mediocre to poor choices with only maybe Ntcham and Edouarde standing out from the rest; although one or two are still relatively untested or have been brought in for the future.

Before this window he had brought in 17 or so players, many of who are possibly on their way out the door in one way or another.
The current window shows caution and wisdom - so far - regards cash spent as it's certainly not the best time of year for choice and quality available and to be honest we still have a pretty decent squad to handle domestic fixtures (as long as we turn up and don't tamper with formation or have more injury problems) .
Obviously we have some uncertainty and question marks in defense and it seems we are pursuing options in this window so all-in-all we should end the break in better shape and hopefully with a handful of passengers off the wage-bill?

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 13:31:12
The six points drop is a figure of speech. If we had won, we would be six points clear, rather than level.

Admitted that the board has backed the manager in the past, but if you remember the last transfer window and the McGinn situation, Brendan made strong hints about the clubs lack of ambition on the transfer market.

I have no inside board knowledge, but I strongly suspect that there is a bit of displeasure within the club with regard to Brendan's transfer record.

Only my opinion.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 13:41:42
I think if you actually read what McGinn says is that he chose to go down there as he was guaranteed first team football and has nothing to do with the board.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 13:44:08
Imo he was prone to too many howlers kev and his biggest was Seville unfortunately I just think we've had better keepers.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 15:49:35
You’re correct about Seville Mally but if you watch the away game against Boavista, you’ll see that we wouldn’t have been in the final without big Rab.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 16:15:36
There is no hiding the fact that he did make blunders but not as many as a lot of our fans make out.
In the run to Seville he had some wonderful game. Vs both Liverpool and boavista he made some out of this world saves.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 15:13:21
Rab the crab was awrite, he did pull off some worldies, still say if we had boruc in that team the uefa cup would be sitting in the big ones shadow in paradise.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 00:00:11
I know this will be silly but with the knew Bhoys in who will get the number 7 shirt Weah Bayo or Burke? I think Weah 10 Bayo 7 and Burke 14!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Jan 2019 07:25:44
Arzani is no 14 and still a celtic player so don't think Burke will get that number. I also wouldn't burden a new, young signing with the no 7 although mostly duds have worn it recently. No 7 should be aspirational, develop and play well for a couple of seasons and earn the iconic jersey otherwise we risk cheapining it.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 11:16:53
It's too late for that DD. Ciftci, Miku, Zurawski and Ljunberg have made sure of that.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 11:20:57
It's just a number. There has probably been more bad player that have worn it than good.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 13:22:21
Exactly. If thebnumber 7 thing, ever was a thing, it isn't anymore. I consider 8 to be better. Brown, Thommo, McStay cpuldn't tell ypu about before that. Or what about number 25? Johansen, Naka, Lubo. Much better hit rates for those numbers. Yet 7 gets all the attention. Stop fannying on and just give 7 to Tierney. No risk.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 16:44:58
Larsson and Jinky. I rest my case.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 17:51:20
Zurawski was decent player. Especially when he played beside big hartson.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 23:10:18
But Tierney is wearing number 63 is that not the minute that Tommy Gemmil scored in the European cup? I think Weah will get it and Bayo will have 10.
