What about this wee guy Biily Gilmour? He appears to be trapped on the wrong side of Glasgow and the 'hot prospect' is now considering a move to Chelsea. I know nothing about the bhoy but is he worth a look with a view to bringing him home? 🍀.

Can u imagine what would happen to him and his family. He's their shining light, their only hope, just think of how much hatred it would generate if he signed for us. He'd need to live underground.

Although we've always seemed to have managers sign to 12month rolling contracts, surely it's worth signing Rodgers on a long term deal just for worst case scenario another club comes calling and he doesn't walk away for nothing at the end of a season.

You obviously don't know how a 12 month rolling contract works.

@kieran95 - too late! I have it on good authority that Brenda is away to Arsenal at the end of the season when Wenger goes to PSG. Davie Moyes will then become manager after getting sacked by Sunderland when they are relegated.

@marco88 - and yet a day after I posted the above, BR has come out stating he might only be here another 6 months! I should become a Begging Bowl Blogger and start charging for my info.
P. S. are you a Hun in disguise using the old ' obsessed ' line? You do know that's our go to battle cry? 😉.

Who'd have thunk it wee Roger Mitchell the ex spl supremo a self confesed celtic fan, in the rags today waxing lyrical about our Peter saying he's the best chief executive in Europe and after the figures the other day who can argue HH.

I'm sure he does well to meet his targets set out for him but it could be argued he hasn't protected Fans and Shareholders interests with respect to resolution 12.

He's been a grand financier, broker, negotiator and arbitrator. He's somebody I'm really comfortable with at the thought of him being our rep in any boardroom, fighting our corner. However from a football perspective, he hasn't had us looking as good as we could have been for several seasons up until the recent rocket up the rear. Now we have a proper manager in place, PL can stick to what he does best. Not football, business.

Just want to add I'm not trying to be negative and from speaking with Friends and Family not all fans are too bothered by things like resolution 12, not as much as me anyway. I'm just reluctant to celebrate things that come from the people who run/ ran the game, I'm sure Lawwell isn't compromised in any way but remember it wasn't too long back Scottish football had the world's best administrator.

I'd accept he does a good job but you could argue that his penny pinching has cost us serious money . Employing Ronnie as a cheap project cost us massively in Europe. We only have to look at the turnover we have just had to see the difference it made. I know we won two league titles under him but let's be realistic to say that probably most of the managers in the league would have won the league if they were in charge of us the past couple of seasons. If we had pushed the boat out more the previous seasons and qualified our turnover would be massive over the last few years.

Ronnie wasn't took on as a cheap project, Ronnie was employed because he was a young forward looking, modern, innovative, inspiring, successful manager, but as it turned out, he couldn't manage at all. the Celtic board had the right idea, but were let down by Ronnie's ineptitude.

I agree with you aindoh we took a gamble with RD and the intentions were in the right place.
But as many have pointed out would BR be so successful at celtic if it wasn't for the previous gaffer's groundwork.

I agree, but Ronnie was there when a few of our best players now were signed. But, we have always had a tendency to be scared of really having a go.
Hopefully we get off our knees and start moving in a direction that sees teams truthfully fear us, as opposed to the pat on the head shite they all troll out.
I think we have and will.

Ronnie was an experiment they knew they would still win the league and a cup but what backfired was CL the fact they had malmo beat at PH and went on to blow it was bad management imo they were well capable of getting there.

Ronnie was the cheap option. He was a gamble that scraped bye by winning the league. He wouldn't have gotten near the job if sevco were in the league. He was a good guy who couldn't turn the job down but he was a mediocre manager at best.
Mr Lawwell gave him the gig as he knew even John Barnes would've won us the league then so gamble paid off. Just. Ok, I ripped it a bit with the John Barnes bit but you get my point!

Rodgers has came out and said we should strengthen from a position of dominance so that will do for me. As long as we see continuous improvement in the team.

The laziness of our "sports journalists" never ceases to astound me. 3 players we could go for now that we're receiving a big CL cash windfall: Joe Gomez, previously linked. Michel Vorm, previously linked. Lars Stindl, scored against us in CL. Where's the imagination? Lol.

My three signings for the summer would be Roberts, O'Connell and the boy from Belguim. With no first team players leaving and maybe Fasan if his loan works out.

Jonace I reckon if the move for Onyekuru was legit then it was to cover losing Roberts. Can't see us getting Roberts and definitely can't see us signing both of them. I like O'Connell as well and if guys like Boyata and Bitton are being given game time then I don't see why he shouldn't too.

As much as I would love us to try and sign Roberts - it seems very unlikely all things considered and as the alternatives are currently Forrest and GMS, we really need to improve that position with real quality.
We have had some real cracking wingers/ ball players over the decades and they are synonymous with attacking football and entertainment, synonymous with Celtic.

See the debate about reforms are gathering strength, this is somrthing that i have wanted for decades. When BMG had 2 very good goals chopped off at RM for offside in a European Cup Semi.
My ideas for reform is this
1) Video refs to aid in refereeing desisions and give teams chance to refer controversal calls one or two per half or three in a game
2) You would only be offside should there be clear space between you and the last defender, should any part of your torso be level you would be onside. Linesmen would give benifit of the doubt to the attacker and only if a goal is scored would it be checked by the officals for confirmation
3) Yellow cards 10 min sinbin and all cards approved by video ref.
4) Temporary subs for blood injuries team not charged for this substituion.
5) Time keeping kept by the video ref and a stadium clock to show how much time is passed. A seven second time limit to restart play on the field when play has stopped ( free kicks, corners, throw ins, goal kicks) clock stopped after seven seconds and only restarted when play resumes so stopping time wasting. Similar time limit for opponents to retreat to required distance or for goalkeeper to play when ball in hand, use of TV to show 10yd circle that opponents must be outside, failure results in yellow card.
All of these would speed up play and expand the field, defenders would not wish to be caught offside.
