Have just read Lenny's interview today from Dublin regarding Stoke's contract. He was saying that he had knocked back the initial offer but the club were going back to him with an improved deal. Now my question is, has he been playing at the club from pre season up until now on some kind of non contract week to week thing? Sounds like a strange situation tbh. {Ed007's Note - His contract doesn't expire until next summer.}

Awright Ed - Just reflecting on the game the other night, think we can all agree there was definitely something missing (Quality) there is a massive void in out team with the departure of Hooper & Wanyama, into the bargin none of our new signings started on Wednesday. Now Wilson has left for 2.5m, I don't feel he is as big a loss as Hoops & Vic, however the spine of the team has gone, still a lot of uncertainty with Stokes & Ledley, I just hope the board back NL this close season, don't know if I could take another Miku or Lassad, we've had our fair share of these guys. The next week will be interesting. Ian L {Ed007's Note - Wednesday's game certainly wasn't the best performance but it was qualification that mattered. We've all got our fingers crossed about signings.}

Am I being unrealistic expecting celtic I go and bring in a quality proven player and possibly splash out just a little, don't get me wrong I am exited about the players who have come in especially boerrigter but after the quality that has gone and the money brought in because of this and I do live it when celtic find a gem like wanyama but I would like to see someone proven and a little more high profile who wants to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, win leagues and cups and play in the champions league

Evening all, Rangers fan here coming in peace :)

Im very impressed with the way Celtic as a club are run ( maybe stating the obvious compared to the shambles we're having to put up with!) but I would have thought it would be best waiting until you qualify for the CL before buying a striker? I think your squad should be strong enough as it is, except maybe a quality CB if Wilson's away (and I don't rate Ambrose) to qualify for the CL proper. You would then attract better players with the lure of guaranteed CL football. If you bought the boy Finbogasson (who looks top drawer by the way) just now and don't qualify, it would be hard for his value to increase while only playing SPFL football. Would Wanyama have gone for 12.5 without his performances against Barca? Nowhere near in my opinion.

Nobody wants to think of their club as a selling club bought in all honesty there are only about 10 teams across the whole of Europe who aren't. Most of which have owners who throw money at it.

Best of luck for the Kazakhstan trip. Oh, and if you're thinking of going to the Away leg, it takes 5 working days to get a Visa processed so you may want to get the ball rolling just now. I work in the Travel industry and I know a couple of St Johnstone fans who were gutted because they didn't have time to get a Visa for Belarus.

Overdose15

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If Celtic are a selling club why have we bought three two million pound guys in the last few weeks?

I don't think your club are either a selling or buying club, although McCoist seems to think he's buying in January. Anyway good point on the Kazakhstan entry visas.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ambrose is better than any player in your squad lol if you don't rate him then I hate to hear what you think about your own squad. Why are premier league teams after efe? He's good but a bombscare sometimes he'll improve mind he's only played 1 year in Scotland.

So yet another First Team player gone. We have raked in 20 million in transfer fee's and yes not all at once. We have also let go another 5 to 6 players deemed not good enough.

To date we have brought in a CB who is returning form major injury and the 2 dutch players who have looked good at there previous clubs but are injured.

Todays draw in the Champions League worries me because even though we were totally rubbish against Elfsborg, Shakter are simply there to make up the numbers. This worries me because, I honestly do not see us signing anyone anytime soon. You just know that everyone at Celtic thinks this will be a walkover.

Capuano the defender we are linked with is very good, better than any defender we have at Celtic regardless of his age, I would really like to see him at Parkhead.

Finnabogson looks to be really good and the fans deserve a big money signing. I simply cannot see us signing a creative midfielder because simply there is none within our price/budget range.

Anyone else see Fat Sally on TV news?

His beloved Deady Bears are staring at the prospect of Admin again and he still thinks he will be given money to spend on players in January.

He is delusional and will be lucky to be still in the job come January.

But the lemmings over at Mordor will believe everything that comes out his mouth even although it is blatantly stage managed.

The house of cards is tumbling down Bhoys and Ghirls!last week the ASA announced they were having another look at the sevco 'then now forever' and 'Scotlands most successful club' nonsense.

Today they have intimated that sevco themselves have decided to stop using this in advertising and merchandising. The reason for this is, I would assume, to stop them being fined for using misleading advertising.

This is the start of the same club nonsense being dismantled. They are one year old and have won one trophy.Expect the usual gnashing of teeth but it is now fact.Guidi, and particularly fat Johnstone will be pig sick at this.I would hope someone brings it up on snyde later.

The powers that be at the dust bowl know they had to do this as they also know they are heading to administration. With this comes a points deduction.A first administration event is a fifteen point penalty. A second is a twenty to twenty five point penalty. They are easing the peepul into the real world as the fifteen point deduction would have blown the charade anyway. Hmm. Ben & Jerry or Jaconelli? Decisions, decisions.green jhedi

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Is it not a deduction of one third of points accrued the previous season -circa 27?

Agree0 Disagree0

Will that not be the point gj when the sfa has to reveal to the world their official stance on the new start club debate? If its a new club will it not be a first administration event? andybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic FC are the most successful club in Scottish football. The world recognises that and the club doesn't need to state it. Even EBT Campbell Ogilvie wouldn't be foolish enough to deny that. Or is it a case by case basis?

Liquidation trumps all achievement of a club as its the most significant event in any history as it ceases the history.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes liquidation was the end of rangers fc. That is patently obvious. This holding company thing is pure nonsense. A club needs to have a membership to exist and would be run by that membership. Professional football clubs became businesses and gave up club status. An administration event would indeed force the sfa etc. to finally open up on this or maybe ogilvie will be working rule changes as we speak.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well celtic could have advertised themselves as such and forced a decision as to who is telling the truth, but that would be stooping to their level. Anyway how many scottish titles is a european one worth? As only one scottish team has won the big one in 58 years I'd say that its 58 and counting.

Plus made us a reported £2.5 million after getting him on a free in any business making a profit is always good.

On the cup tie it could have been better and could have been worse, the distance could cause an issue but first leg is away so gives us a chance at parkhead to complete the job and get into the champions league group stage, if it doesn't happen at least we drop into Europa group stage.

Charlotte Fakes has been busy again intercepting Craig Mather's texts:
CM: Sorry boss had to make out I didn't like you last night.
CG: That's alright, I'm planning on calling you lot a shower of c**ts on Sky next week. LOL!
CM: We were nearly rumbled on a few things but thank God for the cheeky chappie throwing a few one liners in every time it looked like getting ugly.
CG: He's desperate to be loved. He'll come in handy though when I tell the punters my little P*ki friend is coming back as treasurer.
CM: We've already given Ally a shiny new copy of the Andy Cameron bumper book of blue jokes in anticipation for that meeting. He's been memorising them for weeks now.
CG: Is that what he was reading in the Forfar dugout?
CM: Yeh, he hides it in his tactics folder, LOL!
CG: Is Ally's jokes going to be enough? Might need some extra backup, we might need to role out the Orange top again. We could get Ally to model it.
CM: That's a lot of lycra boss?
CG: I'll speak with Ashley, he has a special production line with 500 child labourers to make his personal Newcastle tops. LOL
CM: Roll on Christmas boss!
CG: Yeh, I'll be relieved to just pick up my millions and leave Ronnie and Reggie Easdale to introduce Whyte as new Chairman. Ally should be doing 'Live At The Apollo' if he's get's them out of that one.
CM: LOL

I foolishly said I would take my 2 nephews to see their new team down Govan play tomorrow. I forgot they would be unfurling their Champions Flag (well a FIRST trophy is a BIG thing) so I asked the girls to take their cousins instead, both looked at me aghast and turned me down flat. Mrs T is not speaking to me (again) as she says I have turned girls into football bigots. (I have to admit both did use the banned "H" word")
So think of me suffering tomorrow at 12.45.
At least we will be well fed, on the official Sevco website it states "all kiosks have been refurbished"
( a lick of paint) "and an extensive new menu",
(pakora has been added, as well as chicken wings)
bit I loved was "Bar 72 season ticket holders, can pre order a pie and pint, just pay before game and collect at half time" Is it just me but would you pay any monies in advance to the shysters running Ibrox. Part of me thinks that if we reach the CL group stages it will be through good luck rather than good planning. We have an obstacle to overcome in Kazakhstan. It is by no means a certainty and we are not putting ourselves in the best position to deal with it.
I'm sure some of you will agree with me (and others won't and that's fine) when I say that I'm disappointed we haven't been more proactive in bringing quality to the squad. It's all very well saying the club is working on it but we need the players now, not some time in the next few weeks. You could bring Lionel Messi in on the last day and it would take even him time to settle in. We should have our final squad intact and working together now. Not tomorrow or the next day.
No-one loves Celtic more than me. I live by the club and everything it stands for and I will give the players on the pitch and Lenny's team my full support at all times but I'm still entitled to be disillusioned.
I feel like a kid who has been led to believe that I had a good chance of getting Action Man for my birthday, only to end up with a 50p cheap copy from the local boot sale because my reasonably well off dad thought it was good enough for me.

If only it was that easy ChrisBhoy. As 007 has pointed out numerous times it is not just the clubs who are involved there are the agents! But before you even start with them you have to try and convince a player to play in Scotland. Not an easy thing and pretty much impossible if an EPL or decent championship team enter the bidding. green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

The more I hear Neil Lennon speak the more I trust him and he knows who we need and what positions we need to fill. He 'sees the same games' as the fans and feels the same emotions and desire for success.
Losing so much quality before we had negotiated the CL qualifiers would never have been in his plans and although I understand that these offers had to be accepted, I am frustrated the Board never acted so briskly and obligingly in replacing the talent we lost.
Hopefully we can get our current squad up to full sharpness, clear the treatment room and get a couple of quality additions in the next week?

Nottingham Forest have completed a deal to bring Celtic defender Kelvin Wilson back to The City Ground for an undisclosed fee.

The 27 year old has secured a return to his hometown club by putting pen-to-paper on a three-year deal.

Wilson departed for the Scottish champions in the summer of 2011 and picked up two SPL titles and a Scottish Cup winners' medal in a successful spell over the border.

He also put in two exemplary performances against Barcelona in the group stages of last season's Champions League, playing a big part in The Bhoys' famous victory over the Spanish giants at Celtic Park as Neil Lennon's men progressed to the knockout stages of the competition.

Wilson played all 90 minutes of Celtic's Uefa Cup third round qualifying win over Elfsborg last night but, now back at The City Ground, his focus has switched to helping The Reds achieve their ambitions this season.

*** This was took from there official website and it just goes to show how illiterate they are down south saying that Kelvin played all 90mins in the UEFA CUP 3rd round qualifier. It was the Champions League people and it will be a competition that they will NEVER see again.

Sorry to disagree but Europe is defined as "The Western part of the Eurasian Landmass divided from Asia by the watershed divides of the Ural and Caucasus Mountains, the Ural River, the Caspian and Black Seas"

By this definition Kazakhstan is partly in Europe and so has every bit as much right as Scotland, Spain or Italy to compete in UEFA competitions.

I seen this on a TV Website:-

Who are Shakhtyor Karagandy?

Champions of the Kazakhstan Premier League for the past two seasons, they survived being expelled from the league for five years back in 2009 when the club was caught up in a match fixing scandal. On appeal, the club were docked nine points.

They have been ever presents in the top flight since its formation in 1992 but failed to trouble the top until their back-to-back title successes in 2011 and 2012.

How did they qualify?

Their run in this season's UEFA Champions League suggests Celtic won't be in for an easy ride.

BATE Borisov, top seeds in the second qualifying round ahead of Lennon's men, were defeated 2-0 on aggregate, with the Kazakhs winning 1-0 in both games.

Albanian side Skenderbeu Korce were then eliminated 5-3 over two legs for Shakhtyor to book their place in the final stage before the groups. A 3-0 home win was followed up by 3-2 defeat away.

What are their best results in Europe?

This season represents their best ever season in European competition, reaching the play-off round for the first time in their history.

They were eliminated at the first time of asking in their debut season in the Champions League last season, falling to Slovan Liberec 2-1 after extra time.
They featured in the UEFA Cup and Europa League in previous years, defeating Koper but losing to Debrecen, Ruch Chorzow and St Patrick's Athletic over three seasons.

Where are they in their current campaign?

Shakhtyor are halfway through their league season, finishing third after a 22-game first half of the campaign, 12 points behind leaders Aktobe.

Like in Scotland, they have now qualified for the championship group, with points reset for the second half of the season.

Current squad

Their squad is heavily comprised of local players with 16 members of the team from Kazakhstan with a few representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as Serbia, Belarus and Armenia.

Lithuanian midfielder Gediminas Vicius was the club's top scorer in the Kazakhstan Premier League last season with seven goals. This season, Sergey Khizhnichenko and Roger Canas have shared nine goals between them.

Their new dangerman however is Igor Zenkovich, who has bagged three goals since moving mid-season from Akzhayik, where he had netted nine goals in 12 matches.

Defensively, Shakhtyor have kept three clean sheets in their four Champions League qualifiers so far and only conceded 15 goals as they claimed the 2012 title.

Stadium

Shakhtar Karagandy normally play at the 19,000 capacity Shakhtyor Stadium in Karaganda.

If the game is played there, Celtic fans will be relieved to know that it's a grass pitch, and the bowl stadium is home to one of Kazakhstan's finest Oomph Bands.

However, they have played their previous games at the Astana Arena in Astana, a 30,000 stadium with an artificial surface.

The kazakhstan team were 3-0 down in the first half to the Albanians and only scored when the Albanians were down to ten men.The first goal I believe was a penalty as a result of the sending off and they scored later on when the 10 man home team needed two more goals to qualify.I believe if Celtic were to make a couple of signings before this tie we should really be too strong for them.

first time poster, do you guys think we have enough to beat shaktar, before we spend unnesessary money on the players for the spl

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We need a 6 yard box striker be it for the champions league, Europa league or spl and we will need to spend £5m upwards to get someone who will hit the ground running we don't need to go ott . Every celtic fan just wants to be in champions league if we beat this mob we are there, with a new. Striker in we will win spl at a canter and see what we can do in the cl .

Kazakbloodystan! Arguably the worst draw we could have had.Travelling and an Oligarch are the worst combination in these qualifiers.Dont know much about them but this will be tough on a few levels. green jhedi

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I understand that st Patrick's athletic eliminated them from the Europa league qualifiers last season jhedi

Bowbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Football wise I think this is the best draw we could have got, you just have to look at Karagandys results over the last couple of years.

2011-2012 Lost 3-2 to St Patricks Athletic in second qualifying round

2012-13 Lost 2-1 to Liberec in second qualifying round

Yes, they beat Bate Borisov 1-0 home and away this year in the 1st qualifying round but we all know that can be a lottery before the season has even started!

Celtic should forget all about the Aberdeen game and get the first team squad away early as it is a long flight! This game is much more important than 3 points at Pittodrie!

There is a five hour time difference to Khazakstan, does this mean this game will kick off about 3pm uk time?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll be going, wonder how many fans will dress as Borat lol plus you seen kazak woman? Very nice! Haha. But they'd probably try steal the spunk from your condom get pregnant and get a uk passport I'm always wary about girls when I'm in dodgy places abroad. Should be a good trip and we will win so I'm happy. Hail hail gandalf the green

Agree0 Disagree0

Horrible draw - as expected and to be fair any of them would be tough.
Not as confident as I was at this time last season obvious reasons .
Wednesday night was nervy and well below what the players can do.
But if we can at least get a decent player or two in the door and the injuries clear up we might just get up to speed; although we are missing three very important contributors to last seasons marvellous run.

Jungle Jim

Agree0 Disagree0

Travel wise a nightmare but I think this is a great draw for us, any sort of result way over there and we will have enough to do the rest at home with players coming back and fitness levels up throughout the squad we will be in good shape when these games come around . No excuses let's be honest if we were offered the 3 sides we had to get past to qualify i'm pretty sure bhoys we would have snapped their hand off! i'm confident we will get the job done hail hail!

Well we are off to Kazakstan, how many have their tickets booked for the 8 hour (yes EIGHT hour) flight lol
At least first game is away so we will know what we need to do for 2nd leg.
They seem a decent team, put out Bate Borisov in last round who were in CL group stages last season, not easy, especially the travelling, but hey they have to travel to Celtic Park so we SHOULD? be able to ease past over 2 legs. hail hail Timalloy

An overview of the Kazakhstan Premier League according to eurasia.net

"Kazakhstan’s top football division is called the Premier League, but there is nothing especially top-flight about it. The level of play is mediocre, and attendance is anemic. The operations of 11 of the 12 clubs in the league are heavily dependent on local government subsidies. In effect, most teams are state-funded “social projects” of the regions or cities in which they play, and funding is largely dependent on the whims of local officials. The only exception is FC Kairat, which for the last three years, has had a major corporate sponsor, the energy company KazRosGas."

We must have a decent chance of beating these guys.

I've just read something on twitter which was seemingly and excerpt from an interview which Bangura gave after the match the other night, now I'm not sure of its authenticity but he was saying that after the match he shook all the Celtic players hands but Broony waved him away, now should this be true, that IMO is bang out of order. I haven't posted anything about Mo playing against us because I didn't see the point, If pistol pete didn't see fit to reach an agreement with elfsborg prior to sending Mo out on loan re playing against parent club then it's hardly the fault of the player, put in a no win situation where he's damned if he does and damned is he doesn't. and as for Broony. for him to take umbrage with Mo because he was putting it about a bit then I'm sorry but it smacks of hypocrisy in my book, he's happy to put it around a bit himself as well let's not forget. But as I said the source was twitter so what truth there is in the quotes is anyone's guess.

On another note re Mo Bangura, now for all his efforts the over the piece, I think the least he deserves when his loan expires in December he should be given a bit of a run in the team between then and the end of the season to see how he gets on and if he's actually improved any, then if it doesn't work out punt him on in the summer. Anyone agree?

HH

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think Broony was upset at the wee kick out he copped from Banguarra when they fell together. For me he is right.Yes, do your best but don't be giving sneaky kicks to guys who were, or could be again, your team mates. green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

Hmm to be honest I'd rather see him rot with reserves and then released. He was trying to put us out, he put more effort in against us than he ever did playing for us trying to prove a point yeah but he disrespected celtic, he knew what the consequences would be so its his own fault, never want to see him in a tic shirt again. Gandalf the green

Agree0 Disagree0

@2 he is a celtic player on loan, maybe even an ex celtic player soon! I am glad that he want to try his hardest when playing against celtic! I would be disgusted if he behaved like an Rangers player when they come up against their old team and just not try at all! At least he can hold his head up and say that he tried his hardest for his current employer! Unlike the low lifes who never try when playing their scummy former club that was Rangers and now is The Rangers!

Agree0 Disagree0

So he is supposed to refuse to play for the team who is paying his wages and holds his registration think breach of contract comes to mind plus he would have come back to celtic and Been sold in jan anyway it's not his fault celtic never put the clause in the contract and as for putting it about so in your mind because he's on loan from celtic he's too put no effort into the game if he done that I am sure elfsborg would have a case to take to uefa he was never given a fair crack with us and maybe he was just trying to show Lennon he's up for it when he returns

Hoopybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

@Gandalfthegreen

How did bangura disrespect Celtic? Celtic never put any clause in his contract to stop him playing against us. His job is to play for Elfsborg. He done that, and was up against Efe, who made him look good. He hasn't been given a proper chance by Lennon, and by that I mean 6/7/8 starts in a row, so we don't really know hat he is like until we saw him for Elfsborg. What consequences would he have faced?

Samson

Agree0 Disagree0

Lennon asked him not to play. He played. If I Was loaned out by celtic (and was not a celtic supporter because obviously bangura isn't) I wouldn't sh*t where I eat, celtic are his main employer at the end of the day. And it's not game time that defines a player, he obviously was never a stand out in training and Lennon didn't think he'd be worth the gamble. Gandalf the green

Isn't it funny what's happening over at Sevconia?
When Whyte got involved the club and fans hailed him as the messiah. We told them he was going to empty their pockets but they said NOOOOOOOO.
He emptied their pockets.
When Green got involved the club and fans hailed him as the messiah. We told them he was going to empty their pockets but they said NOOOOOOOO.
When Green got involved for the second time the club hailed it as the return of the messiah. The fans weren't so sure because they know he's coming to empty their pockets again.
And they'll probably fall for it. Again.

Hi ChrisBhoy, Great post. You are spot on the Deady Bears will fall for anything. They are totally thick. I just read the comments on the other side with regards last nights meeting. They raised approx 23m from IPO and 8m from this years ST sales but there is only 10m left in the pot. You do not have to be Einstein to work out that the 21m shortfall is about the same amount of money CW borrowed from Ticketus for his fakeover. The Deady Bears cannot see this due to their WATP attitude and rush to get to the top to stop us doing 10 in a row and more.

Come after Xmas time they'll be in admin for the first time, surely thats

Many of the core players have left Celtic this summer. We are almost looking at a rebuild of the team's style of play.
We knew our striker department was going to need a revamp with Hopper going. We knew our midfield needed addressed with Vic going, and now with Kelvin going our defence is in disarray.
My question is, why on earth are we doing it in August, at this stage of the CL qualifiers?

Even if we did manage to get Alfreð Finnbogason or any other striker for that matter we would have to get the ball to him in or near the box. The other nights evidence might be a one off but in Europe play like that and you could have any goal machine and we wouldn't score. Tactically I think we played for the draw with the players available. I think Watt or Balde as lone striker would have been more effective than sammy. Who drifted. But no point in dwelling on the past. Onwards and upwards

Sevco claiming they have £10m in the bank. Well it wouldn't look good in single digits £9m or £8m.
They need about £23m to this time next year possibly, without accounts for last year its difficult to say exactly.
So looks inevitable. They were told and warned.
Smith baled out, rats and sinking ships come to mind.
Deady bears cannot do anything they should just sit back and watch it happen.
I guess if they owned it, Murray park should be sold, its not needed.
The deadies do everything wrong. They want green out when he should be made accountable, made to stay and put it right. Make him non exec chairman now dafties.

No surprise there.Lenny is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet.I was with my mate, a big bluenose, and met him in the west end and he was brilliant.Had a right crack at my mate and was extremely patient with people looking for pics and autographs. This is why it irks me that players are so slow to attend supporters functions.Lenny knows what it means to the fans and players should be told to do this stuff. green jhedi

Celtic Squad that beat Barcelona 2-1 was:

Forster, Fraser
Lustig, Mikael
Ambrose, Efe
Wilson, Kelvin
Matthews, Adam
Commons, Kris
Wanyama, Victor
Ledley, Joe
Mulgrew, Charlie
Fedor, Miku
Samaras, Georgios

Now I for one admit we need signings but if you know your history, then you'll look at HJK Helsinki, Helsingborgs, Spartak, Benfica, Juventus and notice that apart from Miku (who was pure pants), Wanyama (cannae argue), Kelvin(Who was above average at best) and Hooper (who for me looked decent at best in Europe. and that's coming from a huge admirer of the guy). you should see that the above squad has added 2 Center Halfs a quality winger and replaced Miku with Balde(Jury still oot with both of them).

So let's not get carried away on how "pish" we were in Sweden. Let's trust in Lenny to bring in another bit of Midfield quality, and a good Striker. He'll not let us down. After that realize we may just add potentials to make sure the wage budget is kept the same for next season.

We're a business bhoys. if we don't use the wage budget to the max then it'll get cut the next season, it's common knowledge! So let's not jump on the "why sign Brozek, Ljunberg, Miku, Lassad etc." bandwagon and realize Lenny's running an astute program!

We are all Neil Lennon!

With Mathews fit again, would anyone play lustig at centre half with van dijk when fit, not ambrose s biggest fan, don't rate him at all.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ambrose does have talent but he is better used further up closer to mid, cause he is too much of a risk at the back and can use his talent more without a mistake costing us big time

Agree0 Disagree0

A prefer lustig at rb tbh few times he's played cb as cover he looked a bit dodgy if we don't sign another cb when kelvin goes ad rather see charlie and van dijk at the back ambrose used as back up or even used in defensive mf in the cl probs be better ther than kayal recenty who looks like he's going backwards

Until he stops doing stupid things he will cause problems everywhere. If he loses a ball in midfield then we have 2-3 players running onto our defenders.Lots of African players have this indiscipline in their game. They all want to play football all of the time. Some times you just have to defend first. green jhedi
