Big Rangers fan here. I was at the game today with my flatmate, whos a massive Tim, and both our families have suffered hellishly with different cancers over the past few years and seeing it 1st hand I have no problems in donating to any cancer charities whenever or wherever they are! I have to say that it was one of the best and most emotional sporting events I have ever been to. couldn't believe it when my mate shouted "hes got 3 gers tattoos" pointing at me during the game, even though it was a charity match I thought I was going to be lynched though I was actually well recieved by everyone that was around us, I am still in shock that he done it though and I will get him back for it. I have to say when Stans son ran to him at the end of the game it was one of the most emotional things I have ever seen. Anyway just wanted to say well done Celtic for looking after your own though the next time I am back at Parkhead hopefully I will be wrecking the toilets haha (thats a joke btw)

ED007 I see that the Manchester United left back Buttner is unhappy at not getting a loan out to us, do you think Celtic will go back in January?
Also I read that Billy Sharp is also wanting a loan but the Championship clubs will not pay his £18k weekly wage and Southampton will not pay any part of it, again do you think Celtic will try in January to get him on a permanent deal as he will then only have 6 months left on his Southampton contract. Timalloy {Ed007's Note - Man Utd have decided to keep Buttner and he will be offered a new and improved contract. With Leighton Baines being priced out of a move to Utd and Coentrao now saying he is happy at Madrid, it seems Man Utd have had a rethink and will hold onto Buttner as back-up for Paddy Evra.
Sharp's contract has two years to run on it so anyone looking to sign him will need to pay a fee, it's too early to say for definite if CFC will reignite their interest.}

Having been married for thirty odd years my wife has had to share me with another. She has never complained or forced me to choose between them, but it is fair to say she could never understand the situation either. The other party involved in this is Celtic.

Over the years she has had to deal with extreme highs and depth plumbing lows. There have been nights of wine induced singing and mornings of sullen sulks. She accepted them but never understood what this SPECIAL club does to our emotions.

She has also attended a few games over the years, mostly the bigger ones, and enjoyed the whole atmosphere and excitement of it all.She has seen her partner of over thirty years go from sane to insane in the space of ninety minutes all the while wondering how this was happening.

She attended the game today as a form of a charity donation, a nice lunch and a day out.To her Stan was a sportsman struck down with a life threatening illness. It was terrible and she wanted to support the fight against this awful disease.

When the match, which was very entertaining, ended, she thought it was over.I told her that Stan would no doubt be making a speech and doing a lap and we had to wait. After hearing Stan speak, the YNWA and seeing his wee boy run to him it was over.I could not hold the tears any longer. This was a special moment in the unique history of our SPECIAL club Looking around me it was clear to see many other felt the same.

I turned to my wife with red welled up eyes expecting the usual sympathetic shake of the head and consolling hug. Instead I saw her crying herself. On the way home chatting about the game she said that now she got it.Now she understands why this amazing club and it's supporters are so in tune.We really are a family. We really are more than a club. After a quite emotional day to put it simply.WE ARE ALL CELTIC. green jhedi

Aw GJ, that's great your Wife had a lovely day.

The turnout Stan got and the Players involved was magic!

A more then worthwhile Charity and hopefully raise even more awareness of this awful disease.

Considering his status as a Footballer, Stan is a very humble guy and hopefully a long, healthy future ahead of him ~ Mrs E

Great post GJ, i'm sure you will never forget that moment when you turned to your wife and seen her tears for the rest of your life. Very special moment. I love everything that's Celtic football club mate, that includes you, your missus and the rest of my fellow Celtic supporters. There isn't another club like ours, end of story. Our history and the story that comes with it is incredible. I am forever telling supporters who moan about our transfer policy or Celtic's stance regarding the goings on in scottish football that if they can't enjoy being a Celtic supporter just now then they never will. This is a significant period in our history and I'm as proud to be a Celtic supporter watching that today as I am on any title or cup final winning day, I genuinely mean that. I really don't think people give enough thought or credit to what the people behind the scenes at Celtic are doing but they should and they deserve great praise as do the lads who turned out today and made it such a great occasion along with the fantastic turn out from the supporters. As for Stan Petrov, what a guy. He will go down in history as a legend at Celtic. Hail Hail

Shame some people feel the need to start the points scoring rubbish on a day like this.

I'd just like to say I hope everyone has a great day at Celtic Park today for the #19 charity match in aid of Stiliyan Petrov. A great Celtic player, but above all, an incredibly brave man who is an inspiration to everyone, on both sides of the divide. Also, terrific to see big Carlos Cuellar playing in a Celtic shirt for his friend. The big man is top notch and still loves Rangers as you can see on his twitter, but clearly is a great friend of Stan and has great respect for his former rivals.

All the best to Stan, I hope he has a great day.

@Dreamteam you keep coming over here as the one "reasonable" TRFC fan, sorry pal not having it, you accuse others of points scoring yet do same yourself with Cuellar quotes.
The original point people were making was that 100% of what was raised today will go to the charities concerned, Celtic Fc will make nothing except maybe the catering.
On the other hand YOUR club takes a big percentage of charity money raised and gives it to itself. TRFC not very charitable. Timalloy

OP . You really are a bit of a d@ck . It's all about Stan and the supporters who attend today not about an ex zombie who nobody is really bothered about . You're kidding nobody with your false wishes to Stan . DH

@ 2 & 3,

To be quite honest I couldn't give a f*ck what you two clowns think. I know my well wishes to Stan are sincere and from the heart. I have complete respect for Celtic as a club and for their ex players, most of whom seem like very decent blokes, particularly Stan whom I have actually met a couple of times.

Also, I don't know what TRFC is. So I will not acknowledge anything which says this in future.

Anyway, well done to all of the real and decent CFC fans who see the good in posts of Rangers fans on here. Some are clearly so bitter that they never will, which is unfortunate.

Dream team it doesn't take to much research to see your posts on the deady bears site go against everything you say on here I appreciate your comments about stan but don't be a hypocrite hail hail

@ 5,
