Neil Lennon learned from one of the greatest Celtic managers ever in Martin O'Neill, he learned from the great Brian Clough who won two European cups....Could we be on course for another crack at a European trophy? The belief these players have is phenomenal. After last night anything is possible. Ian L

Believable9 Unbelievable1

Ian what about wee Gordon, took us to the last sixteen twice and won three in a row, something Martin never done. Lenny must have learned a bit from him too.

an amazing night last night, one of the greatest scenes i have ever witnessed was the montage before the game,One thing Ed which you said last week was that you are hoping for a bidding war for victor and saying he is a better player than m'vila and somebody disagreeing,Fact he is miles better and you dont need to hope there will be a bidding war

In 180 minutes against Barcelona, Celtic led for 96 minutes. Barcelona led for 2 seconds.

Magnificent performances, especially last night.

Love the site love Mrs E and JehdiKnight etc. All long time posters. Great result and great scalp but in reality just 3 points. We have not qualified yet. I pthink the victory needs to be tempered with reality. Lets all enjoy the moment and result but lets also really party when we mathematically cant be beaten to qualify. Thats when we party big time. It would be all for nothing if we dont take points from last games and become typical Scottish failures. I believe we will do it and I see that NL has matured enough to make it happen. I asked months ago if we win the CL would we automatically qualify for group stages Ed said yes. After the Barcelona result anything is possible with this squad. I hope we dont sell until the summer but pragmatically we will. Ned

Excelleent result last night, still buzzing and tired today even though I only watched it in front of TV .
Thought the ref had a completely shocking game.

Had to laugh at this eejit below and his comments in the paper.
Former Rangers captain Sandy Jardine has congratulated rivals Celtic on their 125th anniversary, but insists they will never be as big as the Ibrox club.

Mr Jardine. Your club are a newco, they are big but will NEVER BE as great as GLASSGOW CELTIC!

HAIL HAIL

Believable12 Unbelievable4

Sandy Jardine is an example of a footballer who shouldn't be involved in football in any capacity after their playing career ends. The ridiculous March on An empty and locked Hampden during the summer, highlights the worst kind of misguided leadership. There was no clear aim to the march nor issue against SFA either. His directorship of the RFFF is mired in mystique, accounting issues, rumour of missing money and legal questions regarding the official status of this 'charity?'

Agree7 Disagree1

Sandy jardine is a total ballon let the man talk as much as he wants also give bummer brown a platform for the knuckle dragging masses god bless lenny

F**k Jardine, who cares what that idiot has to say the more he opens his mouth the stupider he looks, most gers fans I know (the ones I would listen to) are embarresed by his ramblings.

HAIL! HAIL!!!! DID THAT REALLY HAPPEN LAST NIGHT!!..............it was my 34th birthday yesterday, and that was probably the best result and performance I can honestly remember. Once we went in front I just couldn't see us losing the game - INCREDIBLE!!
The Seville run was brilliant - but that was a group of players in their prime, assembled at cost. This young team will only get better. Victor Wanyama will be holding the Big Cup in a couple of years - he is that good and I am his biggest fan.
I thought young Tony Watt should have been on at half-time - I honestly felt he could do something unexpected.
Anyone who follows this site, will know that over the summer I championed the potential of this group of players. Against certain posters demanding we spend millions. Our lads were absolutely magnificent last night. I am so proud of them this morning.
Alongside our BRILLIANT young manager (and I wasn't his biggest fan as a player) this team WILL eclipse O'Neills. Incredible.
One last thought before I go and watch it again (and sober up!) - get Adam Mathews on an improved, long-term deal - he was simply outstanding last night.................hail!hail!........a birthday I'll never forget...............kbt1978

I dont think there is any other keeper in the world who would have put in a performance like forster did (even joe hart) The big man was simply the best keeper in europe on the night and deserves to play for england not just be a squad player. Now for big Vic, this must put any doubts to rest if other teams are wondering if he can play with/against the best in the world. how many other midfielders in the world are as versatile as wanyama he has all the attributes to be best mid center in the world imo
Great result great team great manager and great fans

First time poster on here, and a die-hard Ranger.

Would like my first post to be in good taste and congratulate Celtic on their victory last night. They did exactly what you need to do against Barcelona. Although I disagree that they are the best team ever or even the best right now. How can they be the best team when they lost La Liga by 8 points last season? But not taking anything away from Celtic. Terrific, spirited performance and fully deserved the victory. What a moment for young Tony Watt, he'll never have to buy a drink in his life again! Lol.

Well done again and enjoy the celebrations.

I've been a Rangers fan for 40 years. I am not in the least bit bigoted; never have been. I thought the best games I had seen were in the days of Larsson/Van Hooijdonk v Laudrup/Gascoigne etc. Last night was just fantastic to watch and an incredible and well-deserved 3 points. Winning in Moscow was a great result, but Celtic last night were just amazing..and unlike Rangers [most of the time they were in Europe] Celtic played football! What a result; you guys deserve to qualify for the next stage. Mulgrew reminds me of Bobby Murdoch. Enjoy it; you deserve it.

Up with the larks, still with a 'Big Cheeser' from last night and it feels great to be a Celtic supporter.
Having a browse over all the comments, opinions and reflections on the game and the posts from fans of other clubs (including our blue neighbours) who took the time to contribute is very good to see. Cheers.
Had a wee glance at Sly Spots, hoping to see the goals and interviews etc but it's that wee horsey lassie blethering about gee gees!

Well , that was something else .Good times are ahead .
NL got it spot on again and is proving himself to be one of the brightest young Managers in Europe.
As for the young lads that wore the jersey last night ,they done themselves and their club proud ...every single one of them .
So close now to the next round and after last night there is no reason why Celtic should doubt their ability to reach that goal.

Another 1m in the kitty last night ?

So pleased for the bhoys tonight! Man United fan here but Celtic are my second team and I'm so damn proud tonight. Congratulations and well done Neil Lennon so happy for him. And tony watt the boy will be a star. Ed007 as I said on the united page a few days ago he will be a fantastic player.

Caolán. {Ed007's Note - Thanks for that Caolan. I was talking about Watt with other Eds a few days ago as well. Man Utd and LFC are keeping tabs on him and have been since before we signed him (he was down training with both clubs but refused them to sign for CFC). CFC wouldn't even entertain any deals in the summer there when both clubs tried again.
He is another player that will be a star if coached correctly but I would prefer to see CFC's young players stay and play, rather than leave for a seat on the bench elsewhere, we can hopefully keep our players until the time suits everybody.
Players moving to England still need to overcome the EPL 'snobbery' towards the SPL. Good players can be found in any league if you have the right scouts.}

Believable9 Unbelievable0

Good shout ed. one name that springs to mind is Scott Allan.dont get me wrong money talks as his wages down there will be great for his age, were not a league that has a lot of money however we can be like Ajax and the likes just be a feeder club.

Couple of side notes.does anyone else think Allan pardrew made a mistake selling Forster ? Also I would sell every player we have just to keep gary Parker at Celtic !

Still can't believe the score I just hope we can make the last 16 then just ride our luck from there

Still on cloud nine after last night, soaked through don't know if it was the rain or Rod's tears lol...
Wanyama, Watt as Fergie would say "so pWoud"
Firstly to Wanyama what a performance, Celtic should give him his £25k+ contract and insert minimum £15m release clause. This way the boy gets decent money and we are protected. I actually think Victor will go to Barca now.
Tony, Tony Watt.. what maturity to take his goal in that cauldron. I hope we have him on 5 year contract.
What a tactical performance by Celtic, Lennon set them up great. He saw their weakness at corners and exploited it. Defensively team were great, no one dived in they all stood their ground.
Barca had most of the ball and we suffered a bit as we had no out ball, we missed Hooper and Forrest for their pace and ability to take ball up the park.
Not until young Watt came on did we cause them trouble with running at them, young Watt's pace was the telling factor.
Finally well done to the Green Brigade for their display, how did they coordinate that?
Then our wonderful, wonderful fans sang their hearts out all night. Celtic Park on a European night is just SO SPECIAL. hail hail Timalloy

Agree6 Disagree0

I thought Adam Matthews was superb ! Him & Joe Ledley are out Mr Reliable's..for the age if Matthews and the maturity he showed last night.

I still can't believe it either, the result, the fans, the atmosphere, the team..everything :-))) Mrs E

Not a Celtic fan but watch Scotland U21's quite a lot. Watt would appear to be head and shoulders above the likes of Griffiths, Rhodes, Jonny Russel etc. This boy has a big future.
