Away from all the doom and gloom that is surrounding our club at the moment i just wanted to talk about something else something far more serious! The colour of the number on the back of the Celtic shirt! I hate the black numbers and back letter why black? Why not yellow? I was watching the Barcelona game the last day when this revaluation came to me! How good would the Celtic top look green and white hoops with yellow numbers and letters with maybe black outline or green outline! Just a thought! On another note Aberdeen are not looking like real title contenders after tonight's result 1-0 down coming back to win 2-1 this S**t just got real!

Its harder to see yellow combined with green and white hoops.

I've always liked the black numbers but I think DN is correct: Yellow/ gold would be difficult to see.

Wasn't our alternative top from 2007 I think it was possibly 2008 was white with two green and gold strips down the side didn't that have gold writing?

Me and my glasses can't read the black figures and letters unless they are very close .
I am getting it very difficult to make out who is doing what, but it's probably my age .

I actually feel really sorry for Steve McClaren.

By all accounts a brilliant coach, but never a Manager. In many ways the UEFA cup run was the worst thing to happen to him.

A very real example of the "Peter Principle" if ever there was one.

Think I have to agree with the coach not a manager point. Newcastle being my second team, it's been a horrid season. I have a degree of sympathy for him because there's been a bit of mutiny from the french contingent from what I've heard, players not giving it a chance (sounds familiar) but the football, generally, has been poor all season. He's had a few good moments in what has been a turbulent career, and he can at least boast more success than some of the names linked. Hopefully the Championship is a good level to see if Cathro would want to step up to the fore. Or even better Cathro at Celtic. Ronnie, Stam and Cathro would be my fantasy chairman pick.

08 Mar 2016 15:28:01
That would indeed be a great coaching/ management team but cannot see it happening as Cathro is more interested in being number 1 now.

Probably right there Rab. My priority anyway would be a DoF, technical director, sporting director- whatever you want to call it. Somebody with a footballing brain. Somebody with a better eye for a player, somebody who can offer tactical and motivational aid if needed too. We're a learning team, both coaches and players, I really think that we should get an experienced head in, at any cost, somebody in with such a nous should be the highest paid employee of the club. It's a model which works for all the top sides.

We already have the ideal guy on the payroll (at least I believe so) in Davie Hay.

Davie knows the game inside out, has a vast network of contacts and a great eye for players. If memory serves me correct it was Davie Hay that spotted Di Canio, Cadette and van Hooijdonk.

Didn't know he was Rab are you sure? He comes out with some quite critical stuff in the papers. Not overly-critical, just stuff I wouldn't expect from an employee. Remember reading that it was him that found the amigos though. What i would do for those 3 right now. Showing my youth a bit but that attack was the first I was able to appreciate properly.

As far as I am aware Jim, he got appointed as director for the Celtic Pools at the end of last year. I reckon his talents would be better suited to a different role.

Didn't know that cheers, but i'm sure they would you're probably right there too.

There is no doubt about D Hay knows (or knew ) the game inside . I think at his age the pools job is best suited as there is no better man to raise the profile of our pools .

I am surprised that the SMSM wrote something derogatory about Hay, it's not like them.

"Mark Warburton has built a side filled with energy, desire and technical brilliance, and that is more than can be said about Ronny Deila's team at Parkhead. "

How can anybody take this website's "journalists" seriously?

I wouldn't listen to anything on that site.

The website is usually just a rehash of stories from other sources, opinion pieces or complete speculation. I'm sure I am like many others in not valuing the validity of the info highly.

We are 4/ 6 with bookies to win the cup whereas they are 4/ 1. That sums it up really, regardless of what these nobodys write.

We should try to avoid discussing this wee game for about a month . We have our Derby game coming up this week end and many other important games . The new club fans are wetting themselves with the excitement of being on the same pitch as us.

Does anyone know why Arsenal v hull is on tv tonight when there is champions league matches? Thought that wasn't allowed and if it is allowed when are Celtic going to play the match against Dundee that was postponed in December?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Mar 2016 12:49:12
It usually isn't but apparently UEFA gave special permission. Arsenal are part of the click though aren't they.

Did this not happen with us a few years back under NL when we went to Perth and kicked off for TV circa tea time to accommodate all?

I wonder what the chat will be if we beat Dundee 5-0.

You're allowed to play during the CL, the problems just come with being able to broadcast it. Would be interesting to know the criteria for UEFA granting special permission.

I'm pretty sure the whole football world knows you can play a match on champions league nite! I mentioned the Dundee match as that was scheduled for live tv and assumed it was being held back for a live tv slot which appears can be anytime if you are from England.

While half of Scotland and most of the media get delirious about a game against us in April, I sincerely hope everyone at Celtic concentrate on the immediate job in hand and the need to improve performances and results - befitting Champions and working their arses off to regain the supporters faith and confidence.
The game against Morton showed glimpses of what is expected every week, but has been sadly lacking and although it was a lower division opponent, it was a lot better than the EK 'show-piece'.

The 'clear the air' watershed has given the club an opportunity for some home truths, but as recent attendances have shown, the fans will need convincing that this manager and players are capable of regaining the title - never mind taking the club forward.

Some of the fans are already convinced that RD team is not good enough to win the SPL . I am sure they won't celebrate when the bhoys have it all sealed up.

Agree0 Disagree1

08 Mar 2016 19:32:14
Chris, you would be better looking at the reasons why the people running our club have caused attendances to fall away so badly.
Sundays gate was terrible, we can make excuses about it being Mothers day and all the rest, but there was matches played elsewhere and the crowds held up at these games. There is a general apathy around the place because of the poor football that has been served up, the people running the club have took the fans for granted for years and now they're paying for it.
It's not fans who have messed up our club, it's the people running it, your anger would be better directed towards them, rather than fans who do nothing else but spend lots of money paying for their bonuses.
