Is johansen banned for the cup final next week?.
I heard them on TV saying he was suspended, but when I looked on the website, johansen said he was looking

He's banned for the replay match against United, right? Heard them say that during the game. That he would lose a semifinal or a replay.

Banned for the replay mate. Vvd misses the final and replay unless overturned

Agree0 Disagree0

As it stands vvd johansen mackay steven armstrong and possibly commons are out of the replay so will be a big ask to replace the 3 behind the striker. Are the 2 cup tied players elligible for cup final?

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2015 09:09:15
Commons said yesterday he would be fit for the final

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2015 11:25:17
Mackay-steven and Armstrong, are cup tied for the final, I know they played for Dundee United in the Semi final against Aberdeen.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2015 15:41:23
Commons should be fit for the replay at the latest . I think Lustig as well . If Lustig is playing Deila might be tempted to play Forrest behind the striker . I thought Forrest was excellent for half an hour yesterday.

Agree0 Disagree0

@Timalloy I've not been wrong with predictions so far this season. Treble is in the bag

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 20:42:48
There are a few factors working against us at present:-
1)The injuries to the right backs, Commons and other players over the past few weeks and the 'cup-tied' duo are causing disruption to a settled and confident side.
2)There has been a reaction to the Inter games, plus pressures of consecutive games that are paramount in the hunt for trophies.
3)Most of the players have been there before, but there are a good few that are new to the demands and pressure associated with Celtic.

In recent games we have lost to Inter and St Johnstone and drew with Inter and Dundee Utd with a win against Aberdeen in the middle.
The form and confidence is wobbling and today we failed to beat 9 men with over half an hour to go with almost total possession - however United had almost as many chances as we had to win the game.

The result today showed our limitations - not in possession - but with finishing and that has been too familiar all season.
Griffiths is the only striker that seems capable of scoring but gets caught offside far too much.
Guidetti, Stokes and Scepovic (when he gets a game poor guy) can't buy a goal and Forrest is . Forrest

We have now given United a lifeline and a moral boost just to make things more difficult in the next three meetings and we now have the added problem of suspensions.

I was always against talking up the Treble - and I sincerely hope we can progress and prosper, but looking at the game today, the officials, the pitch, the saves of their keeper, a missed penalty and the amount of people willing us to fall on our backside. you can appreciate why so few managers have actually achieved it.
I will be absolutely over the moon if RD and the Bhoys can get their second wind and kick on from here;
It will be a miraculous achievement

Believable3 Unbelievable0

08 Mar 2015 23:06:58
Forrest played very well for a spell in the second half . He was our star man for about 25/30 mins. Stokes did struggle. Guidetti was very disappointing but with refereeing as only he can, and the ridiculous state of the pitch it wasn't easy to get a rhythm going .

Agree0 Disagree3

09 Mar 2015 08:02:35
agreed about the pitch guidetti and stokes but Forrest only sparked into life when he looked like he was getting taken off. I've been watching him closely the last few weeks and his energy levels and movement are very poor. When you watch Mackay-steven and the amount of sprints and defending he does in comparison

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2015 15:49:37
The most important thing Deila could do was talk up the possibility of the treble . It certainly hasn't affected our progress towards are main objective the SPL which is in firmly our control. Why not talk about the treble, which is uniquely cherished by some in Scotland . Most foreign players couldn't give a hoot about winning domestic trebles . If you don't talk about them, they won't come about by chance

Agree0 Disagree1

08 Mar 2015 20:28:04
Just one of those awful games where you are just glad to get another bite at the cherry. Yes, we should have won it second half, but there days when nothing goes your way. Learn from it, regroup and recover, then do it again and get it right.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Does anyone think that the pitch played a factor today I think that was a leveller for them absolutely shocking that a premier league team play football on a surface like that I've played on better amateur pitches and I know it's the same for both teams but celtic are all about passing along the deck and on a better surface ( celtic park ) I think we will take 3 or 4 of them imo . We now have 3 games against Utd if we win those 3 I think the treble is ours

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Mar 2015 15:53:42
Tam1888 I agree with much of what you say, but don't sing the praises of Celtic park's
playing surface too highly . Celtic Park has been a disgrace this season, but that pitch yesterday was as bad as Motherwell's used to be .

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 20:10:23
I have taken the liberty of reading quite a few of the posts relatingto today's game, I have to say I have been really shocked to read the BBC report on BBC Scotland.

"Celtic skipper Scott Brown slid in on striker Ciftci, available for United after a successful appeal against a two-match suspension, and Van Dijk made an ugly challenge on Calum Butcher, who lashed out at the Dutchman while lying on the turf.

The first eight minutes were scrappy, but the character of the game changed when, after a flurry of heavy challenges in midfield, Thomson showed the red card to visiting centre-half Van Dijk and, inexplicably, United's Paton. Paton arrived on the scene just after, but it was the holding midfielder and not Butcher who was shown a straight red card, along with Van Dijk, who had tussled with Butcher after the United player retaliated."

What sort of report is that? - surely Celtic FC have to sya something about this, or are we going to take it again?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

The BBC are notorious scoundrels in journalism. I only tune in for the scores, which to their credit are generally accurate. Don't try to follow foreign policy that way, tho.

It's not today or yesterday that Celtic fans have known not to believe or acknowledge anything in the MSSM . However some people still read and publicise it .

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2015 10:51:48
We get it from every angle including the muppets on radio and the Celtic haters on SLY who can never say anything slightly impartial or - God forbid complimentary to Celtic.
The club, manager and players should be well aware of this and use it as motivation and fuel their determination to succeed.

People have spoken on her about the likes of Ambrose for eg and his mistakes. Even CG has got it hard at times. But let's not shy away from it Izzy was utter disgraceful at their goal. WTF is he doing chasin a ball that's going out only to catch it and play it to a Utd player to put us straight under pressure again which resulted in a penalty. Not only that it puts himself right out of position. This has got to be somewhere in the region of 10-20 serious mistakes from him in important matches yet he gets away with it. If a school boy done that he would get pelters.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

08 Mar 2015 19:59:44
I agree 100% - his distribution is shocking, and I realy do not understand why he gets no major critics and guys like Ambrose do. .

Agree0 Disagree1

08 Mar 2015 20:08:23
How you can blame izzy is ridiculous. If he left it they had the throw in the same out come could have happened. It was simply sh$% refereeing

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 21:50:55
Emilio is perhaps my favourite Celt over the last 3 or 4 campaigns, but he has had 2 bad games lately, maybe 3. With Inter he was exposed and at fault. Today - well, my internet connection kicked out for the goal, but clearly, he's not at full fitness. Cut him some slack: we're lucky to have him.

PS @ Rayman: are you a former left back too?

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 21:54:33
How you can't blame him is even more ridiculous - he gave United the advantage, and as I said in previous posts his distribution is shocking.

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 22:59:59
@Toprig, yeah the same outcome could have happened just the same way superman could have flown down and scored for them. The ball is going out if it does then its a throw in where we regroup and everybody is were they are supposed to be. Instead of izzy off the pitch with other people havin to cover him. Also it got nothing to do with the ref it was a stupid challenge from Stokes though it wasnt a pen it defo looked like 1 at first glance and Stokes gave the ref a decision to make. All could have been easily avoided if Izzy had just put the ball in the stand. Why do we constantly need to blame the ref for our own deficiances. yeah he had a howler but he doesn't put the ball in the net we do.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 23:01:33
i think that's right, stupid to play a ball not in the danger area for all his detractors, I thought Ambrose did ok
Biton a seriously improved player
Stokes is hopless, can't pass and missed a sitter, yet annoyed when substituted

def. need for a quality centre forward and two centre backs in the summer and a good left back

in second half, why were Celtic so pedestrian, no urgency or pace, ball moving too slow and predictably

Agree1 Disagree1

08 Mar 2015 23:18:18
Izzy made a mistake today, trying. To hook the ball up the field to set up a counter attack . If he had found Stokes who had the whole left hand side of the free to him, we might be talking about Izzy's wonderful clearance which could well have resulted in a brilliant counter act goal. Unlike what you watch in the Epl Celtic try to play acting football. Today the ball fell short to an UTD player who dived in the box and Thompson awarded a penalty. Somehow that is Izzy's fault .

Agree1 Disagree1

08 Mar 2015 23:51:58
@Chris you really do live in cloud cuckoo land mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 23:53:29
Toprig, that's a ridiculous post, what izzi did was ridiculous, have you never seen fullbacks kicking the ball into touch, just to give the defence a bit of time, what izzi did was incredibly stupid, but it was a mistake and he's still one off my favourite players

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2015 10:56:33
I know and we all know Izzaguire is a dodgy defender, but somehow NL and now RD seem happy enough to play him there.
It is obvious his strengths are as a forward player and he has shown the skill and ability consistently going forward; but for some reason no manager yet has seen the obvious option was to play a 'real' left back behind him.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2015 15:57:58
Rayman thank god I don't live in your half empty land . You would never get your half empty glass topped up or drained .
Try to look on the bright side of things just once .

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2015 21:17:44
I think some people are to use to see the conventional EPL safety first football.
And don't appreciate the risk taking and more open football that become natural to footballers from other countries .

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2015 22:35:48
Ok chris let's live in your land. Izzy is a wonderful player an outstanding defender is never at fault at goals conceded, and a move to Real Madrid can only beckon this summer. Either my medication is far too strong lol or I plain lying. How can you ever get a player to improve if his mistakes are not pointed out and rectified.

I am just glad to still be in the competition, I thought when we missed the penalty we were destined to go out.
I think referees should be held to account for their decisions, if they cannot see incidents that are happening right in front of them, then they shouldn't be refereeing.
I bet Specsavers must be embarrassed sponsoring this lot.

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 21:11:22
You two are a pair of clowns, we had gms and Armstrong cup tied, lustig and Mathews missing, commons last years player of the year missing our most commanding center half sent off after 5 mins and were playing on a terrible surface and your synopsis based on this is were shite, away a gimmie peace.

Agree4 Disagree0

Forrest played well, despite the idiot of a celtic fan who half climbed over fence to get at him Green and white knight .
Have you watched Celtic recently . Ambrose has played in all four back four positions and has played very well. I honestly think some people are judging Ambrose on non football reasons. The idiot that was leaning out mouthing abuse at Forrest should never be allowed at a Celtic match again . Deila and his managers spend a large portion of their time boosting the confidence of the players, it doesn't help if contributors on here think they are funny with smart derogatory comments .

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 18:11:43
Funny at sending off thompson waving play on. Oh dundee utd had the ball. 2nd half izzy clear through but wait thompson pulls it back same as semi-final against the undead. Does he only pull it back when celtic have the ball

Talking up our chances of a treble i've always quoted that we need luck. Would never expect a treble. Certainly wouldn't demand one. Today is a prime example and could have easily went against us. Awful refereeing, missed opportunities, underperforming players, a bad pitch. Can all go against you in a one off and we were hit with all of them today. So, well done bhoys for getting through it. The treble is still on.

Believable8 Unbelievable2

08 Mar 2015 17:31:46
I know players only got on today due to injuries and cup tied players.

Not one showed why the deserve to be here. I know Guidetti scored against Inter but my god he was awful. Time to leave him out completely

Believable2 Unbelievable0

08 Mar 2015 17:31:41
Ed can you appeal a straight red card?

A cannot remember if it is 2 yellows that you cannot appeal or a straight red mate?

Obviously thinking of VVD

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Yes we can appeal it.}

08 Mar 2015 18:45:23
Ed

Any idea what else can happen with retrospective action and how quickly?

Surely Ciftci will get a ban for booting Brown in the napper. Also could the player who should have been sent off instead of Paton be banned? And also the dive for the penalty. Dirk got 3 games for a dive at the beginning of the season for less.

Green tinted glasses on but having watched the incident 5+ times I still can't see what VVD did wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I have no idea.}

08 Mar 2015 19:19:55
UTD will get Paton's red rescinded for wrong identity . I think Virgil won't because he plays for Celtic . The diver will get off because he will plead he didn't know he was diving . ( it worked for the Rangers goalkeeper who broke the betting laws 77 offences I think, one match suspension)

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 20:16:43
As far as I'm aware butcher won't get banned if it's the same rules as down in England with the oxlaide chamberlain/gibbs mix up

Virgil red will probably stand as stated above and surely ciftci should be looking at a hefty ban

Thomson and his mate should be put on an indefinate holidaY

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 23:07:05
@Chris, did you not see VVD kick out at Utd player? Or did you have green tinted specs on. Both should have been sent off for kicking out though mistaken identity for UTd player. Browns challenge was borderline red.(possible booking) Cifti defo red.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 23:22:43
Thompson and his mate will be on special bonuses .

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2015 21:29:04
Rayman, if I had green tinted glasses, I would be proud to use them whilst watching Celtic . Just because referees seem to have an anti green glare, doesn't mean we have to have the same. I don't know of any Celtic supporter who doesn't have a pro Celtic bias .

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 16:35:41
I knew that referee would have a huge bearing on the game as he is as corrupt as he is incompetent.
The red card incident had nothing to do with the players sent off as Brown and Ciftci were involved and the linesman has lied to say the least and we should appeal.
The penalty is utter nonsense, but he was always looking to give one and we have another half to suffer more of this biased and ridiculous official.

We needed to be up for it; Forrest, Stokes and Griffiths are doing very little in the game; but due to injuries and limitations these guys have got to get their finger out and play for that jersey.

Andy Walker and the rest of you SLY wonkers take a shut-up pill.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

08 Mar 2015 16:59:36
Forrest has upped his game second half. Then again he's only ever good with an acre of space ahead of him. Stokes off was a good call. Griffiths of for Scepovic if he doesn't start doing something.

Absolute disgraceful refereeing, if that thug isn't punished post-match the SFA are a bigger bunch of reprobates than I thought. Dundee UTD should be two men down. As for the penalty the kid hasn't been on his feet the whole game any time he's had a 50-50 he's fell over like a bag of washing didn't get touched at all. Even with two refs and 4 linesmen on match days they'd still manage to make more than 50% "honest mistakes"

Stokes and Forrest a waste of space! Especially Forrest! So far off the pace its scary!

Looking for big performances all over the pitch, especially from Forrest and Stokes who are overdue.
Good to see Izzy back, but again we have both first choice right-backs injured which is very frustrating.
I hope 'Honest mistake' Thomson is not the major talking point after the game - as he has been on many occasions and I wonder if he will book Stokes and Johansen?
